Im about to order a Studio 15, there are 2 options on wireless Cards.
-- Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11agn Half Mini-Card
-- Dell Wireless 1510 802.11 n half mini-card
The Intel card costs 10 bucks more and im likely going to get it just because of the low cost to upgrade, but just curious if theres a huge difference between the two.
My Dell 1505 wireless N card is a constant headache, If I hide my ssid the card detects and connects to my router but I can never access the internet. It may work sometimes but most of the time my SSID has to be on.
I have tested this with two different routers and the results were the same, vista shows local access only

I have tried using drivers from laptopvideo2go and reimaging the computer, I am now fed up and want to get a new wifi car
I'm getting tired of the usb wireless adapter so I want to buy a PCI wireless card but the problem is, he don't have the cd installation, since it comes from a old laptop. How do I install the PCI card without the cd installation?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an xps gen2 that currently has an Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG wireless card inside. I've got no major complaints with it, it has always worked well and gets pretty good range but I'm looking to boost the range a bit. I see that the atheros cards get good reviews on the forums. My question is, would getting one of these cards boost my range? Many times the intel card will detect a network with a weak signal, but will not be able to actually connect to it. Can any of you suggest a good wireless card that would be compatible with my pc? Which atheros card should I buy? I just want to make sure its compatible. I recently went out of town and was trying to pick up a signal with the laptop, and I found over 10 networks but the card had trouble connecting with any of them. (most were showing 2 bars for signal strength)For the record I realize distance and obstructions limit the range of any card, but mine seems to lack the power to punch through, but works just fine at home and holds a 100% signal. I am trying to stay with the mini pci express cards that I can put inside the laptop instead of pcmcia cards.

Will the network card on my m1530 work with this?
In device manager its listed as an Intel pro 3945abg
If not, what card should i get and how easy are they to install (i'd prefer not having to use a dongle as most of the time I'm using all 3 usb ports)?
Anyone try out the Wireless N Atheros card from Gigabyte? I think it's pretty new. Having a hard time finding anything on it. If so, any comments? I just got a GN-WI01GT today for my M1710 and am already feeling like an upgrade.

My father has one of the Dell mini laptops.
He is in the hospital at the moment, and I'm wondering what kind of card/fob etc., if anything, is available to allow him to have wireless access (like 3G) to internet?
The hospital doesn't have any wireless available, nor do there appear to be any 'hotspots' accessable from the hospital, so looking for what I'd need to access a local internet service etc?
Iv got the studio 17 and im considering getting a wireless 'N' capable router to stream HD content wirelessly to my laptop via my NAS. The only problem is id need a 'N' capable card in my laptop aswell.

The laptop will not connect above 54mbps. If i set the router to N only then the laptop will not connect at all.

Ok so I have a replacement coming in form my old 1640. When I look at the build, it has the intel wifi 6200. My current system has the Intel 5300 with Wifi Link. What I want to know is if the 6200 is better than the 5300.

I have a 3rd aerial anyway bought from a 3rd party but of course the built in one (if available) would be a better choice for performance .....
this is about the 4-5th time he helped me done it but the wireless never works nor wired with my laptop. The thing is my wifi card Intel Pro Wireless 2200 broke a few years ago somehow.
I ended up purchasing a wifi card on ebay named gigabyte pci card for my laptop. It worked when my other friend installed the drivers.
Right now I have a Intel Pro 2200 wireless card. It only has wireless B. I can get a 3945 card for $12.50 shipped that has wireless G and B, or an Atheros card. I'm not sure what the whole wireless "N" thing is, so maybe someone could fill me in on that. Right now I only need the "G" capabilities as far as as I know. Is the Intel Pro 3945 the best bang for the buck? I see theres also a a 4945, but its almost double the price of the 3945. And as I mentioned above, I see Atheros cards, but I'm not sure how good they are. Do they have better wireless pick-up then the actual Intel cards?

We have a linksys wireless router and I changed the channel to 11 just in case the neighbors (duplex) were on the same channel causing interference.
But still it will go very slowly sometimes the router is upstairs (desktop is up there) and i'm in a downstairs bedroom....it says I have a Low connection.
I called the cable company thinking it had something to do with that and it wasn't.
Is there anything I can do on my part to make it stronger possibly a program or refreshing an IP or messing with router settings?
I have a dell precision m6400 but i dont have the intel 5300 card.
in this system the 5300 can only be used because its half the size and thats what is allowed in the computer.
you cant even try and fit a normal size one. my question is can i install a normal one in the wwan slot?

Due to some problem with its internal wireless device, I decide to buy a DLink DWL-AG660 wireless cardbus adapter from the net..
When the card arrived, I try to install it & unfortunately, it cant fit in...I google the net & just found out that the AG660 is using a 32 bit pcmcia card bus adapter & my inspiron 1420 is equipped with (maybe) an express card slot..
