I just had a Dell agent tell me the 1515 is AG only and the 1510 is N.

Feb 14, 2009I have a new Studio XPS with the dell drivers from the website installed on it (Windows 7) and a Belkin N+ router.
The laptop will not connect above 54mbps. If i set the router to N only then the laptop will not connect at all.

Apr 3, 2009Just got my shiny new XPS13 trying to connect to my network and I think I may have dropped a clanger in the order.
My Router is a from SKY, Netgear DG934G g and b only, I read that the 1515 card is backward compatible to support these. I am using WPA, my lappy sees the network but the router won't see the lappy any idea?

Dec 17, 2009This crap card keeps crapping out on me, like I have a strong signal one min. then it go to a poor signal then it' turns it's self off, right now I running windows 7 drivers ....
which might be the problem, is there any latest drivers that will do this card some good
I checked out the dell support page, and the last update to the drivers were Jan. of 2009 while the windows default drivers were of Aug. 2009

Mar 8, 2010I got my Dell about 2 weeks ago with Vista pre installed. I then took the leap and installed Win 7 32bit.
With the upgrade all is well except the mobile broadband device.
The Mobile broadband application that dell supplies for win 7 is very primitive with very unstable network searching and connecting.
I was just wondering what the latest version software for win 7 is and where to look for an firmware upgrade if indeed there is one?

Aug 31, 2009as of 2 hours ago my high speed has been stuck at 1 Mbps, much slower then its usual 65+ that I've had over the last 6 days since I got my laptop.
I'm thinking I may have received a faulty wireless card, since when I checked my wired desktop downstairs it's still at it's usual 100Mbps, and my sisters Inspiron 1420 has its normal high speed.
Now when I restart my wireless adapter (Intel 5100) the speed fluctuates between 4-38 Mbps for about a minute before dropping- and staying at 1 Mbps once again.
I checked if there are any computers stealing my wireless connection just in case, and as I thought no one is .....

Jun 25, 2011My wireless card stopped working and I get the message that the radio is disabled. F2 is supposed to turn it on,but no longer does so. Tried reinstalling the wireless card driver, but that didn't work. I am told that I probably have a software conflict. How to find and correct the conflict?

May 19, 2009My Dell 1505 wireless N card is a constant headache, If I hide my ssid the card detects and connects to my router but I can never access the internet. It may work sometimes but most of the time my SSID has to be on.
I have tested this with two different routers and the results were the same, vista shows local access only

Jun 10, 2009I currently have the the Dell M1330 with the 4965agn. Had some problems at first but is working beautifullynow.
I am upgrading to the Dell Studio XPS 13 and it has the Dell 1515 Wireless Card, I've been reading that people are saying the Dell 1515 Wireless card have poor performance. Could anyone recommend a good rock solid wireless card with great performances?
I was thinking of switching out the 4965agn from the old laptop to the new one. Or maybe get the Intel 5300 AGN wireless card. possibly the Intel 5100.

Apr 4, 2009I've got a problem with a brand new SXPS 1340, and I can't figure out if the trouble is in the hardware or the software...
On Vista, the wireless keeps dropping out and loosing connection... or fails to establish connection. This laptop is the only computer in my network that's affected; all other systems run fine (including a really OLD Dell laptop with an equally old external MS WiFi card... oh, the irony!).
Also... you know how when you search for WiFi networks it takes a while? Well, when it starts to go haywire, it seems to search for networks instantly, as if the card were off.
But what makes me think this is a software issue, is the fact that when I installed Windows 7, the WiFi worked flawlessly (and seemed to have better signal strength) with the built in drivers... and went haywire AFTER I had installed the drivers from Dell's site. (I'm in the process of confirming this right now; setting up W7 again and I'm going to run a "ping router /t" for a while.* )

Jun 29, 2009My main uses with be photo-editing (Photoshop) video watching, and light-to-moderate gaming. Will there be a noticeable difference if I make the jump to 512? Are the any games that are playable on the 512 that are completely unplayable on the 256 (ex. GTAIV)?

Aug 13, 2007I have an xps gen2 that currently has an Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG wireless card inside. I've got no major complaints with it, it has always worked well and gets pretty good range but I'm looking to boost the range a bit. I see that the atheros cards get good reviews on the forums. My question is, would getting one of these cards boost my range? Many times the intel card will detect a network with a weak signal, but will not be able to actually connect to it. Can any of you suggest a good wireless card that would be compatible with my pc? Which atheros card should I buy? I just want to make sure its compatible. I recently went out of town and was trying to pick up a signal with the laptop, and I found over 10 networks but the card had trouble connecting with any of them. (most were showing 2 bars for signal strength)For the record I realize distance and obstructions limit the range of any card, but mine seems to lack the power to punch through, but works just fine at home and holds a 100% signal. I am trying to stay with the mini pci express cards that I can put inside the laptop instead of pcmcia cards.

The Intel card costs 10 bucks more and im likely going to get it just because of the low cost to upgrade, but just curious if theres a huge difference between the two.

Dec 3, 2009Does anyone have any idea why? Is this something affecting Dell globally or is it just UK/Europe in a mess?
I guess I could survive with just wireless G, but it seems ridiculous to be limited to that these days;
I guess I could also just order it and pick up an intel/dell Wireless N card for ~£25 and install it myself,
but again the question arises, why is it necessary? I assume some of you do have an 802.11n card of some description in your 1645/1747's have you seen any problems with it? .....

He is in the hospital at the moment, and I'm wondering what kind of card/fob etc., if anything, is available to allow him to have wireless access (like 3G) to internet?

Dec 19, 2009Dell offer the Wireless N option so I wondered if the 3rd aerial connection was built in but tucked away if you choose the Wireless G option only so in order to use it I'd have to open the back up to route it into the bay?

I ended up purchasing a wifi card on ebay named gigabyte pci card for my laptop. It worked when my other friend installed the drivers.

Jan 3, 2008Right now I have a Intel Pro 2200 wireless card. It only has wireless B. I can get a 3945 card for $12.50 shipped that has wireless G and B, or an Atheros card. I'm not sure what the whole wireless "N" thing is, so maybe someone could fill me in on that. Right now I only need the "G" capabilities as far as as I know. Is the Intel Pro 3945 the best bang for the buck? I see theres also a a 4945, but its almost double the price of the 3945. And as I mentioned above, I see Atheros cards, but I'm not sure how good they are. Do they have better wireless pick-up then the actual Intel cards?
