My computer will hangs or lags for about a whole second once every few seconds to once every few minutes. It makes watching youtube videos annoying because I miss visual information to the lag.
I hadn't noticed this until a friend put a trojan on my computer with his thumb drive on accident. AVG said it quarantined the trojan, but who knows..
I have 2 Dell Latitude E6320 laptop that is given by a friend, he mentioned that both laptops has been constantly hanging everytime he restart the device.
The OS for 1st laptop is Win 7 Pro SP1 and the other one is Win XP Pro SP3.
Every time i restart the laptops it will hang in the next 7 or 10 minutes. I still can move the cursor around but i can't open task manager, or any files.
I have an Inspiron 15R Windows 7. Set default power setting "Ballanced" but screen goes blank after 1 minute and 5 seconds not moving my mouse or depressing keyboard key on both battery power and plugged in. Screen should remain on 5 minutes on battery and 10 minutes plugged in. Tried resetting default power settings without success. Very distracting when trying to read anything that takes longer than 65 seconds.

My laptop takes about 2-5 minutes to switch on, sometimes it doesn't turn on at all. The screen freezes every 15 seconds or so, but I am still able to move my cursor around. It also lags quite a bit. For example, typing 'how to download google chrome' will take me sometimes an entire minute, because only parts of the sentence will show up on the screen at a time. My keyboard is responding fine. The problem is not with the wireless internet, because even when the wireless is off the laptop is still unbelievably slow. Watching videos is impossible, because the screen freezes so much.
I have been having this problem with my laptop's performance speed for about 2 months now. I had it completed wiped back to factory settings, downloaded every malware and virus scanner known to man (none of them found any problems with it) and updated all my drivers.
I don't think model number is make a difference but I have the HP Pavillion dv6000z.
Recently, I have a problem when right-clicking files anywhere on my notebook and when I press the Delete button. Normally, I don't have any lag when trying to delete files or trying to right click even on my desktop to access the properties. However, recently I have to wait almost about 15 seconds before I'm able to access the right-click menu on anything.
I've check my spyware and anti-virus with Spybot and Symantec Endpoint protection respectively. I've even checked with Windows Defender and all say that everything is fine. I've done a Disk Defragment and Disk Cleanup and still the problem persists. I don't have many applications running in the background and I've at wit's end. What else am I still missing?
I have a compaq v3010 us laptop that hangs on a black screen with a blue square asking me for a password and i do not know it. I need the bios password for it to get into the bios on it. The OS is windows 7. The hard drive is a seagate one ....

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a HP DV6000 Laptop. Im aware of the problems these models have. But this one I have not yet heard of. When I attempt to power it on, the lights turn on for 2 seconds, and it shuts right off. Its not like the Video card issue everyone speaks of. I have extensive technical background, and I have tried taking everything out, and trying each part one by one. I have tried swapping the power button ribbons, I have tried removing the bios battery. I guess im wondering if anyone else has ever been able to figure out whats going wrong with this setup? copuld it be a lack of contact between heat sync and CPU? please give me whatever input you can. I would like to not have to spring for a new Mobo. I can solder, and I am thinking of trying to heat the soldering points with a heat gun maybe. I dont know if thats the problem tho. and also, when the AC adaptor is plugged in, the blue LED surrounding it is on.
I also tried all this (of course)
1. Remove battery.
2. Remove AC power.
3. Remove and reseat your RAM modules.
4. Replace your RAM modules.
5. Hold down your power button for 1 minute.
6. Replace your AC power (not battery) and turn on
remove the small bios cmos battery for 15min and then put it back in
For some reason every time I shut down my pc it restarts itself like 5 seconds after it turns off. I looked it up and someone said try unplugging the Ethernet cable. So I did and when I unplug when I shut it down it doesn't restart itself but only when I leave the Ethernet cable in it. Why is that? Also down on my currently connected icon by the clock why does it show that i'm connected to two networks? I had xp pro before and it only showed me connected to one network but on this new computer it shows me connected to two networks. Network 2 and Network 3, is that normal?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a HP9743CL sitting next to my old 2529Cl and both connect to my home wireless network. Two weeks ago the 9743CL worked fine but now it drops the connection after 4 minutes. I turned off the firewall on the laptop thinking maybe it was blocking something. That didn't help.
I turned off the firewall on the router Westell327W and that didn't help. in the mean time my 2529Cl just keeps plugging along. staying connected. Is there a setting I accidentally changed.
When it dies and I try to have internet explorer fix the problem if comes back with a statement saying my firewall is blocking port 80. Well, now that everything is turned off what is the cause.
I was running zonealarm on the 9743CL and the stock firewall on the Westell327W.
my studio xps 16 lags after 20 minutes of playing WoW any idea why? it runs at 40-60 frames then after a bit it drops down to 20ish. im also plugged in and running on "high performace"

Interesting thing is, in windows movie maker, iSight works fine with resolution turned down to the lowest. Is there an updated windows driver for iSight? Air blows out of the side vent but very little air blows out the back vent even when gaming. Im worried the vent is blocked.
Im concerned because the CPU reaches 85c when playing games, which seems a bit high for a CPU in my opinion.
I am getting quite scared about my hp dv5t its getting really hot. The cpu is always at 50-mostly around 65 degrees doing normal work. I keep it on a targus cooler sometimes, but when im on campus I can only use the bare desk. I have undervolted the computer and the gpu is fine always maxing out at around 60 degrees and the harddrive is always at like 40. How do I keep this cpu from getting so high? It makes the computer really hot. Anything like undervolting, or anything free would be a + point.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi bought an hp dv5t laptop about 7 months ago.my laptop battery has been working fine since then.few days back it has has started to give me problems.sometimes it refuses to charge when ac power is connected e.g it stays on lets say 20% even though its been on AC for a long time.well sometimes it charges normally without any problems.also i have noticed that it charging time has increased a lot from about 25 minutes to 40 min.
is there anyting wrong with the battery or is my ac adapter faulty?how can i improve my battery condition?
I have been trying to get 5.1 sound with my laptop, i have heard people i think with other models that make microphone jack into a center/surround output, and other have said that its possible with hdmi but i have tried with latest drivers of HMDI that i got (1.0.0.42).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to burn a few CDs for my girlfriend and I am coming across a few problems.
I have tried burning with Zune software, WMP and a free burner called CDBurnerXP.
Sometimes the CDs will burn fine all the way through, and other times after half way it stops and I get error messages. This has happened with all the programs I have listed.
The error is something along the lines of saying to check if the drive is connected properly or possible driver issues. Can someone direct me to the latest driver for the CD drive?
Anyone else encounter any similar problems when trying to burn CDs?
Forgot to mention this is also happening on my girlfriends laptop, which is also a dv5t...
I've gotten my dv5t since august of 08. Early this year, i did a clean install and after that, I have been getting the same bsod when i play GTA IV and some other games. The codes that I were

I'm thinking its heat related but this never happened before I did a clean install.

Without undervolting, i reached 91 degrees Celsius for cpu and 86 for gpu. That seems pretty high for me..
Now I recieved this after playing LFS.
anyone who owns a dv5t experience a loose or creaking trim by the 3 status lights?? my first dv5t had this problem and now my new one does too.

ignore that min, probably a glitch
atm the only real "load" i have running is firefox, digsby (IM client), and itunes. only real cpu usage (through task manager) is firefox. when i exit everything and have nothing running, it use to idle at around 70C but after undervolt i can get it to around 60C
my HP dv5t cpu is just way too hot. I keep pretty good care of my laptop and there is not really dust inside but if I just watch a youtube video my temperatures can easily go up to 65C even with a 1.875 volt to 1.075 undervolt. I have a cooler as well, and the temperatures still are just way too hot. If i play a game like tf2 my cpu easily goes to 75C while the GPU and HDD stay well within acceptable and even cool temperatures. I don't really know why the cpu is so hot compared to everything else. My friend has suggested it might be thermal paste not being applied correctly and I was looking for a second diagnoses. Should i be sending the laptop into HP? And if so what do I call / what do i tell them for the best/fastest service? Should I try to get some Arctic silver and apply thermal paste myself? My friend says he can do it easy enough but he would like a disassembly guide on how to get to the cpu and remove the heatsink.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen i first bought it brand new from best buy right after christmas i could run it all the time and i would notice it would get hot but i never had issues with it until january when it overheated for the first time.
Right after that i went to best buy and bought a USB fan to put underneath it and it seemed to solve the problem. It would be cool to the touch. Until once again... it overheated and kept getting worse and worse.
Now i am to the point where i have to use the fan underneath it, have a small room fan blowing on it, and rob it of performance by turning it to power saver mode which is really frusterating. I also updated the BIOS to make the internal fan run faster which seemed to help a little.
Just a note, i use CoreTemp to monitor the CPU temp with the above setup, it reads 71 degrees Celsius right now.
I just switched it to high performance and it instantly jumped up to 85 degrees and is climbing... now its 88 even with all theese fans on it. I have firefox open, windows live messenger and windows media player running. Now its 92. Im gonna unplug it and turn it to powersaver.. (95 degrees and dropping...)
So my mom is going to buy me the hp dv5t and I have a question about the screen res. If I order the screen with the WXGA 1280x800 can I change the res on the laptop to anything higher to make my icons smaller?

when i connect my DV5T to my PANASONIC and LG tv via HDMI it show nothing, i open nvidia control panel, and no extra display is shown, so i have to unplug/plug the hdmi cord several times before the tv is listed....
