Lenovo T400 / T500 :: LSDP Changes Start Page And Default Printer
Oct 25, 2012
If I install LSDP two things happen:
1) My Start Page in Internet Explorer gets reset to some old value
2) The setting to change the default printer when I change network is switch off and a fixed printer is set as the default.
Is it possible to disable these annoying features?
My T430s can't restart when i connect my laptop to my laser printer (USB). The screen just appear Lenovo logo then stop. I have updated to the latest BIOS, and my OS is WIN 7 Pro.
I have a new T540p with Windows 8.1 and fn+f5/f6 do nothing, while sound buttons work fine. Is there any way to change screen backlight brightness, coz it too birght for me by default.
I left my T400 on overnight running on battery (clearly not the brightest idea), and now it won't start up. The plug and battery lights do illuminate when I plug it into an outlet; when I turn it on, the num lock and caps lock lights illuminate briefly, and the power status indicator light illuminates. It makes a few whirring noises, and then just sits there. !
My T420 doesn't power on at all. I have tried to turn it on with cable, w/o cable, different baterries, removed rams and tried same things, tried holding down power button for 60 secs, tried with an other keyboard and I couldn't manage to start the laptop. No reaction at all, no blinking or anything.
System update Lenovo stopped working some days ago. Today I had my fingers crossed that maybe with the installation of currently latest version it will work (systemupdate506-11-04-2014.exe). When I have ran the installation it has warned me there are some previous versions and it will be installed, but installation didn't went thru. After manually removing System update service (sc delete SERVICENAME) and running the installation again, the installation wizard completed successfully...
But then when I run System update I receive an error "T440S - System update Cuuldn't start properly".
How to achieve that System update would work properly on T440s laptop. My operating system is 8.1 x64 enterprise.
I have a new T400 (2768GP6) running Windows 7 Enterprise (~3 weeks old). This morning it just turned off all of a sudden and won't turn back on. I tried pressing the power button 10 times and holding it down on the 11th time with no AC or battery connected, but it's just dead. None of the indicators are lit when connected to AC.
I might point out that I did spill some coffee on the keyboard this morning about 5 minutes before it shut off. But, it was barely a few drops (you know, the few drops that remain although the cup is technically empty) and I wiped it all off with a paper towel. Those few drops spilled at the bottom left-hand corner, right by the Fn and Ctrl keys.
I am using Lenovo T500 laptop for last 2 years. yesterday suddenly its battery stop charging and a red light of battery start continuously blinking. i have read many forum for charging solution and found one solution, i press the power button for 30 sec and then insert battery and charger cable. With this trick battery start charging but after 2 hours battery again stop charging. Till now battery is not charging......
I've got a problem with the laptop Lenovo T410s. I've put the new HDD on it (tried even the same with a different HDD too), and started to instal WIN 7 64-bit from the recovery disks. I used to do it many times so far with different Lenovo laptops without any problems. But this time, a while before the end of the instalation (when processing the sdrivebackup.wim) it stops and comes with a statement: " the recovery process has been finished, please ...." (but I see that the progres bar is far awayfrom 100%) , and finishes the instalation, reboot the computer and it comes the screen with the statement from the Windows Boot Manager:
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem (...)
File: Windowssystem32winload.exe Status: 0xc000000f Info: The selected entrycould not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt"
I read a lot about the ways to solve similar problems, but they don't work on my case. The strange thing is, that I can instal WIN 8 or WIN7 from regular Windows instalation disks (not from Lenovo recovery, but from normal universal Windows instalation disks).
As I told before, I tried it in 2 different HDD disks with the same effect. It looks that the recovery instalation stops before the end without instaling some files which are missing later during starting the system.
Bought a refurb T400 and installed a PNY SSD in it. It POST's okay and I can access bios. I can also read/install Linux from DVD just fine.
Trouble is when I insert my win7 home premium DVD into the drive and boot it, I get POST and then I get a black screen. It seems to be reading the drive and when I interrupt with the Esc key or open the DVD drive, I get a Windows menu explaining that the installation has been interrupted.
I've looked at the bios options and can't see anything obvious that should be changed.
I have tried to make a fresh Windows 7 installation, but after installing updates via Lenovo System Update the system gets corrupt.I replaced the hard drive on an T400 and loaded a image that I had on to the drive. After a installing a few updates and program I noticed strange system beaver. So I did a system file check and it came back that files was corrupt and cold not be repaired. So I did a new fresh Windows install. But it to became corrupt after just running Windows Update and Lenovo System Update. So I ran some hard drive and memory diagnostic without find and problems.
Then I did a new Windows 7 install again. After I installed all recommended updates from Windows Update I did a system file check, all OK. The I installed Lenovo System Update and all its recommended updates and did a new system file check, Windows system files corrupt. What Lenovo update is destroying the system?
My T500 (2241-3XU with Win 7 64 bit Ultimate) has never been able to wake up from sleep mode after lid is closed. I finally reverted to using hibernate but was just wondering if there is a new fix that I am not aware of. I tried to find info a couple of years back before switching to hibernate.
Is it possible to run a t500 without a battery? I found a t500 in my basement without a battery or adapter, however i am not sure if it works or not, so i was wondering if i could just buy the adapter to see if it boots up or not because i don't want to go through the process of returning etc.
i have a 2 day old laptop Aspire E1 with windows 7 wont start after welcome page screen stays black until i push ctrl alt del and then the task manager will start and i kill two procsess that say RUN ONCE then windows GO HEAD and start up and run fine .what is wrong .
Is it possible to clear the TPM security chip through WMI? We are using T410, T410s, T420 and T430.I have looked at the following link, and it seems that it isn't possible: URLs....
I recently got a T440s and wanted to replace the hdd with the SSD from my old laptop, and it is not being detected at boot. It works fine in my e420s.The SSD is a Kingston V+200 240GB. It's a 7mm drive. When I turn on Diagnostic boot in the BIOS I get the following error message:
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
It seems like their is a problem with the connector? The SSD in the computer can actually wiggle around a little bit (<1mm), it seems like it shouldn't do that.
A key ? for me in purchasing a new machine is how to arrange 2 accessories: DVD player and a 2nd drive (primary drive would be an SSD).
From what I understand, I cannot swap out a HDD and DVD in the ultrabay--if going with a second HDD, the HDD is permanently installed. This implies that you make the pre purchase decision to either have a HDD or DVD player connected by USB and the other in the ultrabay.
Would one opt to have the HDD in the ultrabay due to increased data throughput vs. a USB 3x port?
How do I turn off the UltraNav pointing device? I just use the Trackpoint and its very frustrating to keep brushing against the UltraNav and move the cursor unexpectedly. Note that my T400 doesn't have either the Thinkvantage Productivity Center or the Thinkpad Configuration programs installed.
I just opened my laptop today, and when I used F1 to unmute, it 'clicked' a sort of odd, plasticky click. I hit it again a few times, and it always clicked. So I took the key off to check. I didn't see anything wrong, no broken plastic. After taking it off and putting it back on a few times, it now only clicks when I apply pressure in the top left area of the key.
I have just bought a T530 for my sister, which is due to arrive soon, but on closer viewing, I realise that it doesn't actually have a webcam. Looking at the pictures of the T530, it seems that the bezel doesn't have the necessary hole for the webcam to see out of. It looks like the space is completely filled in. Are all T530 front bezels the same? Is it possible that it is just some kind of blanking plate in the space where the webcam is behind, which can be removed?
I have been searching online but to no avail. I am not sure if I need to buy a whole new bezel for the T530 + a 720p camera (part number: 04W1364?)+ a viewing window to go in the bezel?
Here is the ebay listing of the T530 I have bought: [URL] .....
and here are the parts I am thinking of buying... do I need to buy a new T530 bezel as well? [URL] .....
I'm an owner of T430. I have toshiba hitachi 500gb and mini ssd 16gb running windows 7
Right now as I was working on an assignment i got a Microsoft Warning that my Hard drive was failing and that i have to run a back up (which I am doing right now)
Never had this problem and I've been using computer for awhile now and it's my first time seeing the warning window. Is there a way to see if this is a "real" problem? is it caused by viruses? and is it covered by my warranty?
I just ran lenovo solution center hard ware scan and passed everything except my mini ssd. with a code WHD00D001-UI4W8F.
So it seems like my hard drive is working fine, I had some problems with hardware scan failing my mini ssd before.
I have a problem with two T400 thinkpads. The first T400 was dead when I bought it ( suspected graphics card ) . Well I managed to get this laptop to boot up. The screen was black but I found by chance that if shine a lamp or light on the screen it is working. Now being able to see what I was dooing on the screen faintly. So I updated the bios & that did not fix the problem but I was well happy about finding out this trick. I then added 8Gb kingston ram which works with my other T400 laptops. I installed Win 7 ultimate. The laptop is working fine. No issues just extreamley dark screen almost black "but working" Very strange indeed.
T400 - TWO
Now the second laptop was working fine. But I was swapping the parts with the non working laptop to determine the problem. Now I have two T400 laptops with a dark almost black screen. But over about a month working on them I am making progress. I am determind not to give up on these computers. This is not like fixing or repairing a computer. More like rezerecting a computer. I did not intend to spend so much time on these laptops but I have found a common problem that effects a lot of people. I would love to know why a working laptop when re- assembled gives an almost black screen & still works. Normally I would just buy a new motherboard & bin the defekt one. What I need is some command codes to try to make the screen brighter. Is this planned obsiletion or just a graphic defekt myth. Because after throwing away more supposidly dead motherboards with a graphic defekt than I can count. I am starting to think that if I get the brightness back on my computers I will have sloved a major black screen problem. It is not the graphic processor. I have been playing fifa 14 with a lamp shining on the screen. It played fine, not jumpy ,no colour stripes just very dark.
We just bought 15 T430S model N1RLPGE/2356LPG. We install all our notebooks with a running DHCP/PXE environment. A formerly ordered notebook, same type, but an older BIOS (Version 2.02) accurately got itself an IP address during PXE boot and startet the installation. The new T430S (all delivered with BIOS version 2.55) don't even get an IP. I already tried updating the BIOS to the newest version 2.56, but this didn't solve the issue. I checked everything at least twice.
MAC address for IP reservation: correct. Swich (Cisco) portfast is enabled: correct. An older notebook with BIOS 2.02, installing smooth and sound.
When I start the BIOS version 2.56 notebook with a Knoppix DVD, I get the assigned IP address. But not during PXE setup. I also checked the available BIOS and PXE options of the notebook/ethernet card. No options that solved this issue.
I recently got a T430 and the H key doesnt work when i press it with 2 other keys at one time all i hear is a beep also it was a gift so i cant return it....
I've read a lot of threads about adding an SSD to a ThinkPad, and now I'm planning to do the same. replace the main HDD (containing the preinstalled OS, and the recovery partition) with the SSD (of course in this case the main HDD goes to an Ultrabay HDD caddy). But I don't see any serious reasons for doing that, except losing the Ultrabay's flexibility.
Isn't that much easier to place the SSD in the Ultrabay caddy, which doesn't have any moving parts, so the lack of rubber rails won't matter? Then I simply change the boot order, to boot from SSD.is the my idea (mentioned above) wrong? So OK, I won't have an optical device, but I have an external DVD-rom, so that's not a real problem.
My ThinkPad T520, connected to the Internet through the Intel 6300 WiFi card. The indicators fro the RJ45 Ethernet port are always steadily illuminated. I suspect they shouldn't be.
