Lenovo Yoga Flex 15 :: Battery Drains While Shut Down
Aug 29, 2012
I'm having an issue with my Flex 15. When I shutdown the device, it the battery still drains, to the tune of a couple % per hour. If it matters, I updated it to Windows 8.1.

My Lenovo Ideapad Flex laptop does not switch on when I press the power button. It was working till this morning, when I switched it off (via an operating system shut down in Windows 8.1). When I tried to turn it on an hour later, I found that pushing the power button has no effect at all.
I tried pushing the novo button. In this case the laptop does turn on and shows the "lenovo" welcome screen for a few seconds. However, it promptly switches off again. The symptoms do not depend on the laptop being connceted to power: they are exactly the same in the two cases.

I have the issue that my newly bought Yoga 11 (three weeks ago) is charging whenever it seems to feel like. The first time I have charged it, it went up to 92 % telling me its now in power state and not charging. This happened triple. Yesterday my Yoga was beneath the 50 % mark and I plugged in the powercable, the same again: not charging. I unplugged the power cable and at 0 % and a shutdown I booted it and it charged perfectely up to 99 % without moaning. I unplugged the cable and at 77 % the same again, I plugged in the power cable and it charged up to 99 % again.
Is this a bug (battery problem) or a feature (thresholds for a long living battery)?

My battery is at 0% available, plugged in charging, but it never goes about 0%. I've tried resetting the battery gauge in Energy Manger 1.0.1.49 but that only runs for a few seconds and reports that the gauge reset is complete. I've also disabled the ACPI control in device manager then enabling it and the icon appears to be charging but only for a few seconds then stops. Having conservation mode on or off doesn't seem to make any difference.
The latest BIOS is installed and I believe I have the latest version of Energy Manager.

I have been using my laptop at home for the past 6 months for most of the time. When I am running the computer I have it charged with the Optimised Battery Health option, so, less than 60% is charged all the time, and I have never removed the adapter if I am using it. But, when I went to sleep I removed the adapter from the laptop.
What happened: Today finally I am taking it out for a breath and it lasts for only an hour!!!!
What was on: I was using it to do some research online only. So technically only wifi was on - not even bluetooth or video or music play. I only ran Chrome, a dictionary software, and my Dropbox. Well, I actually turned the screen into very bright, which was full brightness minus two presses of F11 (to decrease the brightness).
Would it be a cause of upgrading to WINDOWS 8.1?! (like upgrade to iOS 7 on an Apple phone: running latest iOS consumes lots more battery capacity in older iPhone..)

When i boot the computer to windows, a message pops up saying that i have to not charge the battery up to more than 70%.
It's says that i have to set up something in power consumption options but when i went there i didn't see something relevant to the battery lifespan(in french). Kow to set this up ? between i'm always on the sector (AC).

My Yoga 2 Pro battery is discharging is rather quickly. I have seen this forum that I can perform a battery calibration with Battery Manager.
My question is: should I do it while my Yoga 2 is plugged with on the AC adapter or not? If not, should I do it when the battery is at 100%?

I've had my Yoga 2 Pro refurb, purchased from Best Buy, for about 3 weeks now. A couple of days ago the Lenovo Energy Manager app started showing a warning about an unauthorized battery being installed. And just now its telling me that the power supply is not authorized and that the laptop cannot be charged.

Earlier today, my Yoga 3 Pro decided to stop charging. When plugged in, the battery continues to drain as if it was not plugged in. I have tested the A/C adapter by plugging in my phone with a micro USB and that worked fine, and the USB charging slot works when my wireless mouse is plugged into it, so I assume it must be the strange Y3P USB cable that is not working.
Would a normal USB to USB cable work for charging my laptop? If not, how do I replace that "kink" USB cable?

I have a new Flex 14. When I turn it on, I frequently get the following message "The battery is charged to a high capacity. Staying above 70% of capacity for a long period of time is adverse to the battery health. Enable 'Conservation Mode' in Settings." I can not find "Conservation Mode" in "Settings." ?

My E530's battery drains 5% per day after power off. I searched online and somebody else complained about similar issue on his Y-series laptop. His problem was solved by plugging off power cord before turning off the laptop. Lenovo also updated BIOS regarding this issue for his model after then.
Yesterday I tried his way and the issue was gone too. Can Lenovo update BIOS regarding this issue?
I also find the power manage scheme doesn't work. It always charges the battery from 96% to 100% in whatever scheme I chose. I tried to uninstall the driver and downgrade the power manager, still doesn't work. I didn't try reinstall the system because it is too time consuming. Does it matter I installed win7 in my SSD?

Lenovo Carbon X1Bought ~2 months ago (new) at a reseller in the USi5 3rd generation @ 1.7GHz4GB DDR3 (soldered on motherboard)128GB SSD (Samsung), must be SATA III (6GB/s) I guessWindows 8 Pro x64
Furthermore:
+40GB free space on the hard drive Original charger used, always . Laptop was never 'opened' (ie with screws)device mainly used to text editing, browsing and PhotoshopBackground apps/services: Apple iTunes services, Dropbox, Lenovo mouse/trackpad service and startup utilities like Google Update, Java update, Adobe Reader Speed launch.
I do not shut down my laptop most of the times, I simply put my computer in sleep modus (in other words: I close the lid of the laptop)I do play games on this laptop, but of course I do not expect the battery to last many hours when doing so. The battery drains quickly only in 'normal' situations - gaming, video editing and lots of Photoshop do not count of course.Connected to the internet all the time (no 3G, just WiFi)Bluetooth disabled.
The laptop is fully charged using the original charger. The power plan is set to Power Saver (image). Brightness is set to around 60% of maximum according to the build in indicator of Windows 8. The apps that are open are Google Chrome ( with 5 tot 15 tabs most of the time), Outlook, Dropbox and one metro apps (weather or the app store).
(full image, click here)
As you can read, no heavy usage. The CPU is stable between 5% tot 20% and the RAM is at 40% to 70%.

I have my lenovo x230 laptop set to sleep when I close the lid. When I close the lid the "sleep" icon on the back of the screen lights up. But the batter will not last through the night on sleep mode. Within five hours or so, the battery is completely drained and I have to plug in and boot up the system. I've never seen such poor batter performance during sleep mode on any other laptop I've ever owned.
Another thread in this forum blames the USB port that allows you to charge mobile phones/etc. during low-power states and recommends disabling the "always power on" option fo this USB port in the Bios settings. At least my laptop still will not make it through the night in sleep mode.
At this point, it seems my ownly option is to use sleep mode only when the laptop is plugged in and hibernation mode when on batter power, which is disappointing. I've never had to worry about this in the past with other laptops. Perhaps/probably related is the fact that the lenovo ThinkVantage Power Manager (v. 7.16) hangs at the splash screen when I try to open it, so I've been trying to manage the power through the windows control panel power settings.

I have had this laptop for 7 months now, but since about 4 weeks ago when i click on shutdown i realised that it looked like it was shutting down... and 30 seconds later would fire up again. At first i thought it was me clicking the wrong button, but it has happened daily now. Only way to shut it down is my removing the power cable and then shutting down.

I also have 20DM-000VUS, not sure about the original BIOS version though since I downgraded using the files on the Lenovo site (but definitely downgraded).
I just got my laptop back from the shop and Ive been running it for ~1 hour now and so far so good. The shop replaced Power and IO Subcards "FRU 00HN613 and FRU 00HN612".
Now the left USB is not working at all. Afaik it was also replaced. Already talked to the shop and I have to take the laptop back, they will replace it again.

Well, didn't check before installing Macrium Reflect Professional but it detected 7 (seven) partitions in my Yoga2 13 (Not Pro) as follows:
1 - WinRE_DRV 1GB total 313MB used - NTFS Primary
2 - System_DRV 260MB total 28.5MB used - FAT32(LBA) Primary
3 - LRS_ESP 1GB total 497MB used - FAT32 (LBA) Primary
4 - NONE Unformated Primary (?)
5 - Windows OS 422GB total 44.58GB used (C NTFS Primary
6 - Lenovo 25GB total 2.46GB used (D NTFS Primary
7 - PBR_DRV 15.75GB total 12.46GB used NTFS Primary
All Yoga2 13 are like that from the factory or Macrium created some of them? If they are like that from the factory what each of the partitions have inside (other than, obvlously, the #5 Windows.)
In creating an image for restore in case one is needed which ones I should include in the image?

Is there any way to boost volume on Yoga 13?? I have my system volume and video player volume maxed out and it's STILL not loud enough. No it doesn't have anything to do with what I'm watching, and no, nothing to do with the player. Windows Media, VLC, and Divx have been tried.

I purchased a new Flex 2-15 online the past week. The model name shown on the back is "20405". Manufacture date is May 12, 2014. The User Guide refers to a "Novo Button", which is shown in diagrams as being on both the left edge and the right edge near the front. Neither location has a button of any sort. The right edge has a pinhole in the supposed button location. A curved arrow icon is next to the pinhole. I have an inkling this may be some sort of factory reset button. Lacking the Novo button, what is the procedure for accessing the features which the manual says are accessed by pressing this non-existent button?. That is, BIOS, and/or the one touch image backup/restore system?

I paid $60 just for some recovery discs to recover my accidentally formatted Yoga 2 Pro. The discs came with no instructions whatsoever, and using them is weird. First of all, there is two disc 1's, no disc 2, yet there is a disc 3 and 4. Support confirmed this is normal. There is also no prompt between discs 1,1, and 2, so despite making my best guess at when to switch, I can't confidently say I'm not screwing things up.
After the whole process completes, the bios can't find bootable media.

I had bought yoga 2 pro from Malaysia three weeks back. And I had traveled back to India last week. The PC was working fine till yesterday. Yesterday while I was working suddenly the system hangs and I had to hard reset. But after that the system didn't boot up. It shows boot device not found. I have switched it off and tried booting using restore button and opened the bios it shows that HDD not detected.
Similar kind of issue I faced two times before but if I hard boot again it worked fine.

I just had my Yoga 13 for about two months and really liked it. Upped RAM to 8GB and added the second SSD. Sweet.
But now I managed to nearly brick my nice little Yoga by spilling juice all over it, and now I am in recovery process.
I checked the original mSATA SSD on another machine, and it looks like it still works fine, all partitions are still there.
In the very beginning after first "drying" the Yoga I got it to boot a couple of times. But now all I get is "Default Boot Device Missing".
Next thing I'll try is putting the SSD in an external USB enclosure and try and boot from there.

How do I turn off all of the gestures on the touchpad so that it just functions like a normal mouse????

I've got a Yoga 11s which is barely a few months old and hasn't seen much use. Having the same problem - it won't power on or charge (powers on only when plugged in). In Lenovo Energy Manager battery status shows "Good" and charging status shows "Battery Connected". WIndows power management icon however, shows Plugged-in, not charging. Never had that problem before either, but it came with the power-on failure so I guess they're related.

I cannot get the Y2P to shutdown or sleep. When I try to shut down it powers off but after about 2 seconds it turns itself back on and boots up. Same thing happens when I try to sleep.I've tried pretty much everything I could find online including the following:
-Turn off wake on lan on the network adapter
-Turn off auto restart on windows errors
-Updated bios
-Updated drivers
-Disabled all non microsoft services
-Factory reset of the OS
Went through every device in device manager and turned off "Allow this device to wake the computer"powercfg /lastwake (shows nothing).Shutting down isn't a huge deal as holding down the power button will eventually turn it off. But not being able to sleep the laptop when I close the lid is a deal breaker as the battery constantly drains.
