Sony :: VAIO WinDVD BD/Blu-Ray Playback Issue On Windows 7

Oct 29, 2009

I have a new Sony VAIO FW490J that I just did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional on. I also updated all the major drivers from the Sony eSupport site.

For whatever reason, the VAIO won't play a Blu-Ray disc. I can explore it just not play it.

I think my problem likes with the WinDVD BD for VAIO software. I tried to install the software but the program is nowhere to be found after what appears to be a successful installation.

Sony :: WinDVD BD Volume On Playback Low

Dec 5, 2009

I'm testing out my Blu-Ray drive and I notice that the volume on the playback in WinDVD is very low. I have to max out the volume in Win 7 just to be able to hear the audio through the notebook speakers.

The movie I'm testing is Ice Age 3. I have the DVD and the blu-ray version. The DVD plays very loud via WMP. The blu-ray volume leaves a lot to be desired.

Sony :: Windvd BD For Vaio With Windows 7

Mar 15, 2009

I have installed Windows 7 on my TT and manually installed those programs which comes with my TT originally.

Everything looks fine now...expect the light sensor of course. Now I tried to play a blu-ray movie, the Intervideo WinDVD BD for Vaio gave me an error message "The AACS key has expired..." Does it mean that I have to pay for continuing to use the program?

Sony :: Vaio AWsometimes Jerky Music Playback

Aug 30, 2009

I own a Sony Vaio AW31 S/B (P8700, 4GB, Full HD). Quite powerful machine, I'd say, but I wonder about one thing: When I'm listening to music (using Winamp 5.56) just along the way while doing other stuff on the computer, it happens sometimes that the music playback gets jerky for half a second or so.

It most likely happens when I'm editing pictures from my digital SLR with GIMP. OK, this may be a quite power-consuming task, but on the other hand, the Vaio should be powerful enough to handle music and picture software at one time, shouldn't it?

With my last notebook, i never noticed any jerking in the music playback, even though it was way not as well equipped as the Vaio. Or does the Full HD display with enabled color management need a lot of system power?

Sony :: Z590 And Choppy Web HD Playback (FPS)

Jan 3, 2009

I just got a CTO Z590 2.4 GHZ, 3 GB ram, Vista Business "Fresh Start". I'm getting a feel for its performance.

When I attempt to play a HD video with my from within IE, Chrome, Firefox, or quicktime at full screen the video is choppy, less than 10fps. I've got the newest versions of webbrowers, flash, and quicktime.

Here are some examples:

I've let the videos buffer so internet connection isn't an issue, and I'm in "speed" mode.

I'm upgrading from 6 year old 1.4Ghz Athlon, so I had expected the Z590 wouldn't have a problem, am I expecting too much?

Do others have an issue with these videos?

Should I make use of my XP downgrade disk?

Sony :: F Series Video Playback Color

Mar 22, 2010

I just picked up the Sony Vaio F series from Best Buy and noticed that the video colors are distorted (bluish) when playing blu-ray or regular videos on the laptop. I tried tinkering with the display and nvidia settings. No luck. Pictures / images look fine. Only videos have the odd bluish color.

Lenovo ThinkPad L R/SL :: L420 / Windows 8 64bit - Audio Playback Jitter / Distortion On Battery Or Charging

Jan 11, 2013

So this is about the only issue I have with Windows8 on my laptop, I've tried various audio drivers from OEM provided
to drivers directly from the Realtek site and I can't seem to remedy the issue....

Only during charging of my laptop or when the laptop is on battery does the jittery/distorted audio playback occur. Happens during Flash playback or local media playback using say VLC, sometimes the distortion can Freeze or lock up the system.....

I've tried Audio Drivers, Video and my BIOS is the latest. This playback issue did not occur under Windows7 when I had it installed....

Sony :: Windows 7 On A Vaio FZ

Feb 21, 2009

Has anyone tried to install Windows 7 beta on a vaio FZ? I did install win 7 on my Vaio FZ (with the specifications below) before a week and everything seems to work ok with the drivers for Vista, except for the following problem:

I formatted the hard drive, installed the software, obtained a key from microsoft and activated my version. I did install all the drivers as I did several times before on Vista. Sony notebook utility worked and I got functionality of all the keys except Fn+mute (F2), also the volume control at the top right of the keyboard doesn't work. I believe these two problems are related and could be caused by the same driver. AV mode, S key and other controls all work fine. I tried changing drivers/software: "sony utility dll", "sony shared library" and the AV mode software but nothing happened. Anyone could have an idea on which driver that specifically needed update?

clean installed Win7 Professional 32bit and it works ok.

Except for:

1. "Unknown device" and "Storage Mass Controller" as troubles in the Device Manager (can't really understand which devices these are to install the drivers for them)

2. Sony Power Management doesn't work at all as well as Fn and all VAIO-specific switches and buttons.

3. Some of the drivers were installed by Win7 and it's really difficult to understand which ones I should change for Sony-originals.

Sony :: New Vaio Windows 7 Upgrade

Nov 12, 2009

I recently purchased a VGN-SR490PBB which came with preinstalled XP Pro. According to all the literature, I am entitled to a Windows 7 Pro (32-bit) upgrade.

I proceeded to install the Recovery Media Kit that came with my laptop. The recovery media says basically, "Use this Recovery Kit to recover the preinstalled operating system and applications..."

It installed Vista Ultimate (64-Bit). I am being shipped the Windows 7 Pro (32-bit) upgrade from Mentor Media. So you can probably see the issue already, 64-Bit OS installed, 32-Bit upgrade disks in the mail. Not going to work.

So here's what happened so far (whole process below took 2-hours).

1. Chatted with a live person from Sony's Tech Support person, who directed me to Mentor Media .....
