View 6 Replieswe switch from Comcast to Verizon Fios and now our laptops don't want to stay connected.
It takes like 2 hours for it to finally stay connected so we called Verizon and they said we have to change from the eNet management to windows.
Does anyone know how to change it?
1. Can anyone give me information on how to change the default drive for
user-created backups? Currently they are stored to the D: drive. My D: drive is currently full and I need to change this location?
2. Also, where can I find some useful info explaining the recovery procedure in the event of a system crash?
I have a stereo system hooked up to my computer through component style cables (Red/White) that connect through the headphone jack. If I switch eAudio Management to S/PDIF Digital Output, the sound works much better. But if I try and do something else, like switch to youtube, the audio wont play at all. If I go back to iTunes again, it also wont play. I have to close iTunes, switch eAudio to "Built-In Speakers", re-open iTunes, then switch back to S/PDIF. Its a pain to have to open and close iTunes all the time. The audio quality is much better with S/PDIF and dont want to have to sacrifice by leaving it on Built-In Speakers. My actual stereo plays when Built-In Speakers is selected (not the laptop speakers), the quality is just inferior. Are there any reasons for this? Is there any solution to fixing it so that the S/PDIF is always working?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried to create a document on the MS Word 2007 that came with my Acer TravelMate 5720 - XP, Office 2007. The completed docu was saved to My Documents. When I went to My Documents to open the file, the icon contained a red bar, was labeled as encrypted, and would not open. I tried saving another - same result. The Notepad documents I save are fine but the Excel files are encrypted too. When I try to open the encrypted Word.docx file, an Acer window pops up titled Acer eData Security Management and says "System setup must be completed before you can use Acer eData Security Management. Please click "Next" to start the setup." Apparently I have turned on the Acer eData Security Management system somehow. I am not interested in using the Acer eData Security Management. It would be easy to remove the program but then it would not be available should I ever decide differently. Any ideas any one would care to offer about how I may have accomplished turning on the Acer eData Security Management system, and most importantly, how do I turn it back off,
View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an Acer Aspire 6935 and I'm very happy with the performance. I formatted the hard drive and installed vista x64. Now my laptop frequently overheats and then shuts down automatically. I just read that it might have someting to do with the epower management module, which I don't have anymore (after format). I can't find any downloads for my model;
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there any reasons for using ePower management?
I have Vista 64bit installed on Acer6935G and I do not use the software, but maybe I am missing something without it.
I found a few posts about the same, but is not clearly stated that the software is really important.
On an Acer 5100-3583 notebook, ePower Management won't work. No profiles available, no adjustments possible. Can't load defaults.
Notebook runs Win XP.
Uninstalled and reinstalled ePower Management; no changes. Uninstalled and reainstalled .Net framework 2.0: no changes.
No solutions found in the forum archives or online.
When I unplug my laptop from the AC adapter, Acer's ePower system automatically dims the LCD brightness to a setting that is 2 levels above the lowest (and 7 below the highest). However, when resuming the laptop from standby, I noticed that the setting is increased to 4 levels above the lowest (and 5 below the highest). I'm kind of a stickler for these sorts of things and would prefer for Windows not to change the LCD brightness if the ePower manager is supposed to be handling it. Is anyone else noticing this, and if so, have you corrected it somehow?
FYI, I should mention that I recently downloaded an updated version of Acer's ePower management system from Acer's support website - this updated version corrected an error that was occurring where my optical drive wouldn't "wake up" after ePower management shut it down, so I would prefer not to downgrade.
I'm frankly a little confused about where exactly all the Acer-specific power options are located. What is the difference between ePower and PowerSmart? Or are they the same thing? I could go on, but I think I've raised enough questions.
I have an Aspire 5720. The default mode for the eAuido Management is Movie (which means surround on). When I turn the computer on, I change that value to Music (surround off). However, there is no way to save my preferred mode (Music), and everytime, I have to bother with changing it from Movie to Music.
Is there a way to make "Music" the default mode of the eAudio Management?
The first thing I did was do a clean install of Windows 7 (it came preinstalled with Windows 7)
I'm wondering if I need to install ePower Management to achieve the advertised battery life?
Just checked their supprt website today and had found the new ePower for Windows 7 (I have the Timeline 4810T).
Can someone test that and verify that the battery power consumption is similar to the vista?
I see in the 1410/1810 thread people uninstall this and it seems to help battery life. I want to see proof. Show tests, videos, photos, whatever proof you have that this software that Acer engineers designed is useless. I had an EEE before and it shipped with Asus's own power management software and I never had a problem with it working together with whatever Linux or Windows OS I used. So, lets see what proof you have that shows the epower management software is useless.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHey guys I have a Acer Aspire 5590. I installed empowering technology, then I installed enet, eperformance, and esettings for it, I tried installing epower management but it says I need net frame 1.1 but yet I installed 2.0 then 3.5 yesterday.. and it still doesn't work. I formatted the laptop yesterday, but when it was not formatted it had all the acer programs on it, such as the one where it controls the battery performance, so I could change the screen brightness, how fast the laptop goes and what the settings are when it's running on battery. What is that program called, could somebody send me a link so that I have all the acer programs that come with acer laptops? I have Windows XP
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo my friend gave me his laptop to fix, and everything is perfect... except that the acer emanagement program doesnt have any power management options, like slowing down processor etc.
What can I do? Where could I find the proper Emanager?
I just purchased an Acer E511 laptop with windows 8 and am wondering if the acer recovery management program can be removed. I noticed that when I go into settings, change pc settings, I can recover using windows 8. Will this option be removed if I uninstall Acer Recovery Management? What's the difference between the two?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe image below willl show you a list of items previously installed on my Acer 5315...
Is it safe to remove any of these or will doing so cause more trouble than its worth.
Reason: I never use any of them. In fact, I just removed all the games from the machine.
I got a problem with my Acer Aspire 5315. The HDD is shown in the bios but won't show in Vista most of the time. The HDD is completely formated, including the Acer partition. So recovery is not an option.
The problem is strange because it is not consistent. Sometimes I am able to acces the drive and install Vista. But then the next day, when i try to boot again, i only see a cursor after the Acer boot screen.
I've tried running in IDE mode. I also tried replacing the HDD with a new one. I installed vista with the correct Intel driver.
I also tried running Linux live cd. It also sees the HDD drive correctly but when i try to acces it, the program freeses.
I'm affraid something is wrong with the I/O controller, or it is a loose cable.
If you think otherwise, please let me know. If not, i'd like to know how I can check the HDD cable.
My Acer 5315 died during a power outage while updating the BIOS. I have been trying to revive it using an old post I found. I suspect everything is ok except for the autoexec.bat file that I have written. Any help? Or does anyone know where I can just get the Inside recovery disc?

Every so often my laptop shuts down. Like it seems after it comes back from a sleep session the fan doesnt come back on. I had to replace the hard drive in it once because I think it fried from getting to hot. I don't know whats wrong with it. I had a cool pad, but it didnt keep it to cool. Is there any fixes, or fans I could put in it to keep it cool? Or even drill any holes anywhere to cool it down? its an acer 5315 model.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Acer Aspire 5315 that has been causing me a lot of problem. It recently started to shutdown with no warning and keept doing it for a while until it died. I have searched the forum for answers but havent been able to find anything good. This whole week it hasnt been able to boot. I tried pulling out the harddrive, switching memory modules, cleaning up the clogged heatshink without any resultats. I think the shutdown problem was due to the clogged heatsink and the computer overheateting. Now it won't boot at all.
When I press the powerbutton the fan spins up and the power led turns green. 4-5 sec after that fan stops and after few more sec the green led turns off but no boot.
My M keeps falling off so I order a repacement key from Machina but the latch they sent me didn't work.
It said made for the 5315 but it was smaller. I went on ebay and there alot of replacement keyboards for ACER 5315. I just want to make sure I buy the correct one.
