Acer :: Can Remove Recovery Management On E511 With Windows 8

Aug 27, 2014

I just purchased an Acer E511 laptop with windows 8 and am wondering if the acer recovery management program can be removed. I noticed that when I go into settings, change pc settings, I can recover using windows 8. Will this option be removed if I uninstall Acer Recovery Management? What's the difference between the two?

Acer Aspire VN-591G :: Windows 8.1 - Uninstalled Recovery Management Software

Nov 30, 2014

I have recently purchased an Acer Aspire VN-591G which came with Windows 8.1 preinstalled.

I now wish to reset it to factory settings and I can't seem to do that as I have accidentally uninstalled the Acer Recovery Management software.

The recovery partition is intact, but I can't seem to be able to do anything with it.

I tried booting up using Alt + F10 but it opens up the default Windows 8 boot screen, where if I choose to reset the system it asks me to insert the recovery media (which I don't have as the system only came with the recovery partition).

I think I spent 3h searching through the internet trying to find the Acer Recovery Management software that comes with Windows 8.1 (which I'm hoping will be able to access the recovery partition and use it to restore the laptop to its original state), however, it seems that this is nowhere to be found.

I find it absurd for Acer not to provide this software as a download for their systems - how would you be able to use the recovery partition in case of a system failure ?

i tried booting up directly on the recovery partition but I didn't manage to do that (maybe I was doing something wrong - got an error about the disk not being a fixed MBR disk ?

Trying to set the recovery partition as active from the disk management screen in Windows is even more useless. I can't assign it a drive letter either to try to access it (I found some forums post that was suggesting to copy the boot files on the primary partition to allow the system to boot into the Acer Recovery Management screen directly.

Acer Gateway NV59C :: Windows 7 - Unable To Restore Gateway Using Recovery Management Disks

Sep 24, 2014

I have tried to restore laptop to oringal factory settings using Gateway Recovery Management disks purchased from Gateway. I have booted from System Disk (1 of 4) which ejected and instructed me to insert Recovery Disk 1 which loaded files (100%). Recovery Disk 1 ejected and instructed me to insert Recovery Disk 2 which also loaded files (100%). Then a "Restore Progress"window opened and and the process progressed to 79% and gave the following error messages: "WIMApplyImage fail. Error0x570" and "Fail to Restore Image".

Prior to attempting the Restore process, all I get when I start the Gateway NV59C laptop is the following screen:

Windows Boot Manager

A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.

If you have a windows installation disc, insert the disc and restart your computer. Click “Repair your computer,” and then choose a recovery tool.

Otherwise, to start windows so you can investigate further, press the enter key to display the boot menu, press F8 for Advanced Boot Options, and select Last Known Good. If you understand why the digital signature cannot be verified and want to start windows with this file, temporarily disable the driver signature enforcement.

File: windowssystem32ootwinload.exe

Status:            0xc0000428

Info: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. what is causing these error messages?

Acer :: Disk Management Partitions For Aspire V11 Touch Running OEM Windows 8.1?

Oct 28, 2014

I'm seeing the following:

600 MB Healthy (Recovery Partition)
300 MB Healthy (EFI System Partition)
449 GB Healthy (Boot, Page etc...)
15.5 GB Healthy (Recovery Partition)

Given I'm supposed to be running OEM Windows 8.1 shouldn't 1 of the first 2 partitions say OEM?

If that is so I know what I've done and it will probably require a recovery disk to set things straight (i.e. recover the original Acer version of Windows 8.1). This is a follow-on from a previous post where I foolishly installed an evaluation copy of Windows 10 instead of running it using virtual software (which is what I usually do with these things) - I can't remember for sure but it's likely I installed it by formatting the whole disk and probably wiping the OEM partition.

I do have a system image taken a few days before I installed W10 but suspect the OEM wasn't included...which is what is displayed above after I reloaded it.

Lenovo B / G Series :: G550 Partition Management In Presence Of OneKey Recovery System

Jul 27, 2012

I am currently using a G550 2958 Model Laptop, from the Lenvo 3000/Essentials Notebook Series.  This laptop came with a feature called OneKey Recovery, which I have used to create recovery disks for my computer, using 2 DVDs.  My problem is this: I wish to install a Linux operating system on my computer, but Lenovo filled the partition table.  Here is a summary of the partition configuration:

First Partition, Unnamed, Primary, NTFS, 200-300 MB, boot flag, houses Master Boot Record

Second Partition, "C", "C:", and/or "OS Drive" (running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1), Primary, NTFS, approximately 187 GB, contains Windows installation and personal files.

Third Partition, Unnamed, Extended, NTFS, approx. 30 GB, is a container for:

Logical Partition: "Lenovo", Logical, NTFS, approx. 30 GB, lba flag (which I take to mean it's bootable), contatins data and drivers necesarry for operating the OneKey Recovery System in respect to creating images and usage of the NOVO button.

Fourth and final Partition, "LENOVO_PART", Primary, NTFS, 13-17 GB, hidden service partition used for OneKey Recovery.

My question is this: I'm aware of the fact the OneKey Recovery will cease to function if I resize or delete any partitions in that I will not be able to create backup images or recovery disks, but since I have already done so and have no further need of OneKey, will booting the recovery disks automatically restore OneKey functionality after deletion or resizing of recovery partitions?  In essence, will disabling the OneKey system through partition management permanently remove my ability to use recovery disks, or no?

Acer :: EAudio Management

Aug 21, 2009

I have a stereo system hooked up to my computer through component style cables (Red/White) that connect through the headphone jack. If I switch eAudio Management to S/PDIF Digital Output, the sound works much better. But if I try and do something else, like switch to youtube, the audio wont play at all. If I go back to iTunes again, it also wont play. I have to close iTunes, switch eAudio to "Built-In Speakers", re-open iTunes, then switch back to S/PDIF. Its a pain to have to open and close iTunes all the time. The audio quality is much better with S/PDIF and dont want to have to sacrifice by leaving it on Built-In Speakers. My actual stereo plays when Built-In Speakers is selected (not the laptop speakers), the quality is just inferior. Are there any reasons for this? Is there any solution to fixing it so that the S/PDIF is always working?

Acer :: EData Security Management

Mar 7, 2009

I tried to create a document on the MS Word 2007 that came with my Acer TravelMate 5720 - XP, Office 2007. The completed docu was saved to My Documents. When I went to My Documents to open the file, the icon contained a red bar, was labeled as encrypted, and would not open. I tried saving another - same result. The Notepad documents I save are fine but the Excel files are encrypted too. When I try to open the encrypted Word.docx file, an Acer window pops up titled Acer eData Security Management and says "System setup must be completed before you can use Acer eData Security Management. Please click "Next" to start the setup." Apparently I have turned on the Acer eData Security Management system somehow. I am not interested in using the Acer eData Security Management. It would be easy to remove the program but then it would not be available should I ever decide differently. Any ideas any one would care to offer about how I may have accomplished turning on the Acer eData Security Management system, and most importantly, how do I turn it back off,
