View 1 RepliesI recently sold my Aspire 5002 WLMi notebook to a friend who changed too many settings and mussed up the BIOS in record time.... 10 days. I got most back by using a restore point but noticed he had a BIOS password requirement for booting up. I went to change that and set the new password with blank fields....save and quit....reboot....
...and whoops. Neither does a blank field nor his old password work now. in hindsight, I recall it was odd how some of his BIOS options had been greyd out and realized he must have a supervisor and another BIOS password. Swears he doesnt remember what he did. Now, we're locked out with 3 tries and error code 00000.
I removed the CMOS battery but unlike desktops I've messed with, I cant find any jumpers or marked pads to short out. Read somewhere that Acer now uses some form of flash memory. I cant find any documentation on this and Acer hasnt answered my email. Most of their sites dont even list this version of laptop. I bought it in Amsterdam at the end of 2005 but their Netherlands site is only in Dutch, a language I cant begin to decipher.
Anyone have ideas on this or possibly a motherboard schematic with lables? I looked at lists for Acer MB's and theres not a single number printed on here that resembles those lists I found.
For my E6500, I've irrevocably lost my TPM Owner's Password, and I've lost my System password.
The good news: I still have the Hard Drive Password, and the Windows admin password.
The fingerprint reader is still working, still allowing me to login to the machine on startup. The bad news: if the fingerprint reader stops working, I won't be able to login anymore...
My keyboard works great except when I try to enter passwords. It appears to lockup and I have to hit the same key over and over before I get a response
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I log in to a web site in IE, SimplePass pops up asking is I want to remember the password:
I have the option to remember web site logins turned off:
I could ignore it, but SimplePass is blocking IE from proceeding until I reply.
I am running Windows 8.1 on a brand new Envy Touchsmart 15 15-j151nr laptop.
I like using the fingerprint sensor to log in to windows, but I am going to have to disable SimplePass if I can't get this fixed.
When booting up, the bios does not recognize the supervisor or HDD passwords.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a new Pavilion m7-1015dx Laptop and need to make the System Recovery Discs ... (which I realize restores the Laptop to factory default).. btw, I've already created the System Repair Disc.
However, I read an article about creating a System Backup Image that allows you to Recovery EVERYTHING if lost, all your installed programs, etc.
First Question ::: if I do the System Backup IMAGE ... Do I still need to create the System Recovery disc's (mfg's default) also??
The Second Question ::: If I create the System Recovery discs do I still need that Recovery Partition ??
I am really really wanting to partition my C: drive ... it's huge plus I hate seeing storage folders intermingled with system folders .. Currently using a Symbol/Character to separate them.
As of now, I can't partition the C:drive as all partitions are used.. max is 4 and I've got 4 .... C:drive, System Partition, HPTools Partition, and Recovery Partition.
Will I be able to recover later with just the discs and a completely clean HDD
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop that has a Bios Password Set on it... and the password is not correct that we thought was the one for the laptop.... The password authentication system wont boot the laptop up until we enter the correct password... I have tried all the combinations that we thought the password is or was, but have not had any luck --- that being said the laptop is registered to me/ owned by me --- Can I provide the computer system tag -- that is shown on the screen and getting a reset password to overcome this obstacle.... The service tag is in my profile information and the computer system tag on the laptop bios password sign in screen is B*B*H*1-595B... I intentionally put the three * in the info, so I wouldn't compromise the service tag for my laptop for the world to see and use..

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a pavilion dv7-6b50ei notebook pc bought 2012. It always gives a command prompt pop up which doesn't stay long enough to read. I also felt there's a virus on it which my anti-virus couldn't solve so I tried factory resetting but when I restart and press F11 it gives an error(something like a boot.. is missing). so I tried my recovery discs. Disc 1 of 4 ran fine but disc 2 keeps stopping with an error.
Now the laptop doesn't load as I think the OS has been formatted during the recovery and don't know what to do. I feel disc 2 is bad too because it also gave an error while trying to copy it to a USB pen drive. I have also tried an external dvd and run the hp test on the hard drive; the hard drive passed the test. If I can get a new set of recovery discs, it would solve my problem.
don't know which files i can delete

and hence I removed all the Bluetooth related devices in the Device Manager. But now when I try to install the drivers, I get this message -
Code:
"Please uninstall current Bluetooth installation before continuing"
I have tried to remove it from where ever I could find it, I renamed the default Windows Vista drivers so that they are not loaded.
There is no mention of Bluetooth anywhere now, but the DELL driver file still gives me that error!
I bought a new Dell Latitude E6230. When I'm trying to configure smart card login, I think the Pre-Windows password set wrongly.I didn't notice how this password apply and what password is set.
Now, when I turn on my computer System show #47ZPWW1-1D3B and asking password.Could I reset or remove System or administrator password ?
Came to a point when I should completely restore the OS on my Acer Aspire 4752. Neither through Alt+F10 nor through eRecovery am I able to get around a Notice with the following "please complete operating system setup process before doing system recovery". There is only one option of this notice, that is to ok it and then the current Windows 7 Home Premium OS starts and I am not able to get out of this viscous circle. The OS works and is completely set up, so I do not understand what am I prompted to do. I see a number of postings out there, but no solution. Local Acer does not seem to know anything about the problem nor it's existence.
