Acer :: Aspire 5044WLMireplacement Battery
Oct 12, 2009
I have been looking everywhere for a replacement battery for my Aspire 5044WLMi.
The original battery is part number BTP-AWD1 and is 11.1V 4000mAh and appears to have also been used in Aspires 3610 and 5020 to name a couple.
I have been unable to find the 11.1V version of this battery anywhere but most suppliers have one that is 14.8V.
This seems like a wide voltage variance to me - does anyone know if it would be OK to use the 14.8V version or can anyone steer me to a supplier for the 11.1V version.

I've been having trouble with my laptop battery, its an acer 1642 maybe 3 years old, but i actually think the battery is fine.
I had been unable to get the battery to last for any longer than 20 mins, now this didnt really bother me as i usually always use it near a power outlet anyway, however being bored thought i would try something, so i turned off the battery warnings and automatic shutdown and just let it go untill it died, and it actually lasted aver an hour on 0% yes zero% so that kinda tells me the battery is fine.
when i charged it back up i ran into all sorts of problems, hanging on boot, crashing when i opened up power options and dunno if its related but some system proccess hogging the CPU at at least 50% all the time, however this only really happened when i booted it on AC power, under battery it seemed a lot better, long story slighty shorted, updated the bios and it seems to have fixed this problem.
however this is where it gets weird, now i am unable to get it to charge above 7% yet now when i unplug it at 7% it tells me i have about 3-4 hours left (from new it was never over 1.5hrs) just now its sitting at 7% and 3hrs 12mins.
does anyone know what i have done, battery times all seem to be ok, battery holds the system up no problem it just doenst seem to be reading the charge correctly ... is there anything i can do to fix this, except buying a new battery, really dont wanna do that, no cash just now ... any help would be greatly appreciated

my Acer Aspire 6920G battery no longer holds a charge. I have made sure that it was charged 100% even on power saver mode and the battery will go to 100% to 5% within 5 min. I looked at the battery condition on my laptop and it says to replace it.Where do i buy an acer battery ? Is this covered by costco's 2 year warranty?

I got an Aspire One a few months ago and it worked fine. I hardly ever use it.
I brought it with my on vacation and when I went to boot it up, it wouldn't turn on. Figured the battery was dead so I put the power cord in and turned it on.
After an hour or so, I unplugged the power cable and it instantly shut off. Thought it was weird, but whatever.
I just now noticed though that the battery light blinks orange. XP says the battery is 100%, but if you unplug the AC power, it instantly shuts off and it can't be turned on without the AC.

I just got the 3G version of the Netbook with the 3 cell battery. I'm only getting a bit over 2 hour of battery life with 3G off, my wireless connection on, the screen brightness about half way, and the only program open is Firefox. For example, right now I have 90% capacity and it's showing 1:55. Is this the normal battery life. I know the specs say up to 3 hours, but I never believe in those, and I just want to make sure mine is about right.
I was thinking of getting the 6 cell battery, but I don't want to make the netbook any bulkier than it is (I'll be carrying it back and forth in my work commute).

My netbook runs very slow when on battery power. I've tried every power option and while "Home/Office" seems to work the best (even better than "Always On"), it still runs slower than when plugged in. I'd like to get the same performance on battery that I get when plugged in, even though I understand I may have to sacrifice battery life. Is there a way to do this, or at least to improve battery performance?

Does anyone have any experience with using their laptop without the battery. I am primarily using the notebook at home and not mobile very much. Would there be any harm in not using the battery?

I'm referring to this battery.
My 6-cell is starting to barely give me 4 hours after I accidentally pushed it too far a couple times, and I was searching for a replacement and found these new "9-cell" batteries. Do they really provide the jump in battery life that 6-cells provides over 3-cells?

Recently I have had some issues with the battery in my laptop not wanting to charge. The battery is fine when I have it plugged in but when it is plugged in it won't charge. If I let the battery fully die out I can't get it to charge at all.
I have tried removing the battery and shutting things down and holding down the power button to flush the power but that didn't work. I have tried putting the battery back in when the computer was still on but that only lasted for an hour or two. I have tried two different batteries thinking that was it was an issue with the battery but I still had the same issue.
I have also updated the BIOS but that didn't do anything. I will try and update it again and see if there is an update I have missed but are there any other things I can try?

my Aspire 5100 laptop has ben fully-charged but the ePower icon in the system tray says it's as low as 1% charged, and for the past several months has altogether stopped giving me the warning baloon regarding the impending need to charge or else it'll go into hibernation.
i've had this laptop for one year now.
just tonight, though, i've realized something else too-- the orange 'battery' light on the front of the laptop is blinking steadily instead of a solid green (fully charged) or solid orange (charging). then i scrutinize the ePower battery icon in the system tray and it says the laptop has 15 of battery power left, and in paretheses "plugged in, not charging". yet i can be on the laptop for hours upon hours in this state, and it never shuts down.

It has the 8GB SSD drive, 3 cell battery, 1GB of RAM, runs Windows XP, and has the standard 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor. I was going to purchase a full fledged notebook but I would rather spend $200 on a netbook now and then purchase a $1000+ desktop. I had a 17" notebook but it would only get about 1.4 hours on a single charge (and that was with the brightness turned all the way down). That notebook died and I am currently using a tablet PC but it can only get about 2 hours of operation on a single charge.
So how long does the 3 cell Aspire One last on a single charge? I know that factors such as screen brightness and wi-fi drastically affect battery performance. I mainly want to surf the internet via wi-fi (on my campus) and the screen brightness will be adjusted down to 50% or lower. I would be perfectly content with 3 hours or more. I read on some websites that the 6 cell versions can go for 6 hours or more. One reviewer said that his unit was able to go for 9 hours but I think their screen brightness was turned all the way down and wi-fi was turned off.

Acer Aspire 2000. When a battery is inserted and the power cable is in, the charging light appears, I then switch on the laptop and it powers up within 5 seconds of it being on and trying to boot it will power down without notice.
If I remove the battery I can run the laptop fine off the mains. If I then connect the battery it will cause the laptop to power down.
I have tried two other batteries thinking it was a fault with the battery, but this is not the case.
I just wanted to know could it be a setting in the BIOS?

I just bought a brand new Acer R7-572-6805. When I press power button nothing happens if AC adapter is not plugged in. I would expect laptop to start/boot because the battery inside is brand new and fully charged.
Also, I'm worried that nothing happens when I press for 4-10 seconds a battery-reset button on the bottom of the laptop in a small hole in the middle (I use paperclip).
1. Update BIOS to the newest version 2.04. Note: during flashing new BIOS version the orange LED didn't blink but shined!
2. Tightened all screws on a casing.
3. Replaced a charger.
4. Pressed batter-reset button.
5. Pressed power button for more than 10 seconds while AC adapter was plugged in, was not plugged in and when battery was not plugged in too.
4. Reinserted battery many times.
5. Checked voltage of a battery. Two cells showed 3.11V and the other two cells showed 3.81V. I manually charged the first 2 to 3.78 so that all 4 cells have similar voltage. The proper voltage makes me think that the battery is fully charged.
Other observations:
1. When AC adapter is plugged in then the orange LED is blinking (it seems to indicate that the battery is low) after approximately 6 seconds from pressing power button, i.e. from start. It doesn't change if I go to BIOS or go on with Windows boot.
2. When battery detached then the orange LED does not shine at all.
3. When AC adapter is plugged in then laptop starts.
4. Windows 8.1 is installed. The first time I used the laptop I plugged AC adapter in, powered on the laptop and went on with the installation.
5. Wall AC outlet provide 230V in my country (in contrast to 110V in US, but it shouldn't matter becuase the charger is capable of working in both systems according to its specification).

I've been losing date and time recently. I update files, then take them home on a USB flash drive and they appear to be older than what's at home. Turns out my date and time are maintaining. I have to reset date and time when I boot up now. Pretty sure I need to swap out the CMOS battery (maybe a CR2032?) how to find it once the case is opened?

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate, downloaded software/installed software the entire time, and browsed the internet).
Anyway, I plugged it in today, and it's been charging for just over 4 hours now and it's only at 78%...is this unusually slow to charge? Should I send mine back? I've never had a proper working battery take this long to charge, even 9 cells.

I have an Acer Aspire 5672Wlmi and recently my battery went completely dead. I went to the Acer website to find out that they are out of stock which meant that I am out of luck. A quick search on amazon gave me some promising results and a few days ago I bought a battery that is an equivalent of the one I need.
If I try to boot the computer using the battery I get an error saying that I have the wrong battery and I should insert the correct battery and press any key. This message is shown immediately after the Acer logo flashes momentarily during the POST so I guess this restriction comes from Acer's BIOS. Right now it seems my chances of having the right battery are as high as being able to find a key that says "any" o my keyboard.
However I know that the battery is fine because it runs fine if I insert it once the latop has booted. Even if I remove the power plug after that it runs just fine. Also the fact that I am able to read the message when the latop is running only on battery is sufficient to convince me that my battery is fine and my BIOS is wrong.
My questions is, what should I do to fix this problem? I have already contacted the seller but I thought you guys might know more about how to fix this. I guess it would involve flashing the bios which is fine with me.
If it matters for the BIOS version, the laptop was bought in the UK.

I bought this laptop 5 months ago and I have been monitoring it slowly deteriorating by battery life, it is a 6 cell 4400mAh battery and I use it every day, and make sure not to let it drop below 10% battery power as to not do full discharges and only partial.
I was getting 1hr 50 mins when I first got the laptop which may have been max or min settings I cant remember but anyways which seems not as good as the advertised 2.5 hr battery but I can understand that advertised and actual may differ and max, min would have had an effect. Anyways now after 5 months (Purchased early december) I am only getting 58 mins on full charge at minimum settings, now this does seem quite ridiculous and NHC is reporting 49% wear level.
My question is, is this normal for a Li-Ion Acer battery after 5 months, it seems quite bad to me, and all I can think is the laptop was left on the shelf for a while before i bought it, or that it is defective. I rang acer warranty support and I feel quite fobbed off with them saying this is normal and usage patterns and that their warranty for batteries only last 6 months and I should expect only to get 1/4 of the full charge i did when i purchased after 6 months. So acer is in the business of making low quality batteries?

I have an Acer Aspire 5652 WLMi. I've just bought a new battery for it but when I insert it to the laptop after it starts it says "This is not an acer battery please check your battery" and shuts off. Also it doesn't seem to charge because the little orange light flashes instead of staying on. Do you know if there is a hidden program that doesn't allow new batteries?

I have read guidelines of battery maintenance. It says the best is to keep charge level of the battery at a certain level: 40% for storage, around 80% for standby. I am using same levels for my office laptop Lenovo T400. It is set via Thinkpad Power management utility and works marvelous! Hovewer I was not able to find similar settings in Acer Power management SW. Vista doesn't have that either (as it seems to me ). My main idea is to keep the battery attached and serve as a standby power backup, but minimize charge level to 40%. It is sufficient to protect against short power interruptions or roam around the house from one socket to other.

My battery life was appauling (15 mins), so I decided to do a full discharge and recharge (Nothing to lose by doing it)
After this was done I loaded back into windows and checked my battery monitor, unplugged my laptop and waited 10 minutes.
It was still at 100% 10 minutes later.
I looked in another utility and it was reporting ludicrous values for Full Capacity - 920,643mWh (At this point I became very scared of the prospect of a Lithium Fire).
I worked out the capacity of my battery:
wattHour = ampHour * Volts
Ah of my battery is 2.0, and it provides 14.8 Volts
Max battery capacity: 29.6wH (29600mWh)
The program is reporting 29834mWh (Which seems like a perfectly acceptable value considering not all batts are the same)
Seems like the battery is still good... (It's certainly running longer than before, up to 30 mins so far).
I'm sure my battery is dying (3 years old), just this makes it seem like it isn't?
