View 4 RepliesI'm on Windows 7Â 64 bit and the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery device is causing my Aspire E5-551 to freeze. If I enable the device and I try to run my laptop on battery it freezes, but when it's disabled I can run on battery perfectly fine.
Now I don't mind having it disabled since it fixes the problem but when I disable it then I have no way of telling how much is left of my battery.
This is a brand new laptop, a little over a month old so I haven't done any damage to it. I sent it in to get fixed but when I received it back from the Acer repair center all they did was re-install windows which did actually fix the problem for about a week but the problem came back.
Does anyone know where to find the ACPI drivers for this laptop? I don't really care what Operating System they are for.
View 4 Replies View Relatedthe laptop will boot up then freeze/lock up when all my desktop icons and windows bar at the bottom load up. The mouse won't move, the keyboard won't work. I've been told it may be either the RAM or hard drive, maybe even the battery. I haven't brought it to a professional yet because I'm dreading paying a ton of money for a cheap laptop.
View 9 Replies View Relatedthe hole on the laptop where you plug in the charger seems to be broken. the charger itself still has a green light, so i don't think that is the problem. i would have to sit there and hold the charger in a certain place the entire time i was on it. and it seemed to be harder and harder to get it to charge until eventually it stopped all together. what i want to do is download all of my pictures on there to a disc. i don't have a problem sending it to acer and getting it fixed, but i don't want the hard drive wiped clean yet. all i really need is a charged battery to borrow for like 20 minutes until i am finished downloading my pictures. i live in erie,pa. unless there is another way to charge the battery i have? or some other solution.
View 4 Replies View Relatedstarted with USB thumb drives not showing in MY Computer but visible every where else, getting a drive letter etc. After abunch of investigation I finally seemed to isolate the problem to some Apple Itunes related software. I used MSCONFIG to shut off the apple updater and some other Apple Ipod related startup software. THe USB problem went away.
I decided to then do a little cleanup and get rid of some software installs, I remove Apple Mobile Device support and Apple updater as well as US service. This seemed to go well but I got a software may not work right with out a reboot so I did. On reboot I again got a software needs a reboot I did it again. Now the wierdness starts, my USB problem is gone but I now have a visible F: drive called PQSERVICE, checking with disk managment in system tools I see all my partitions but in Disk MAnagement none of them show a drive letter but all are visible in My Computer and in programs with their correct drive letters. THe machine boots fine and all files are there. I used PTEDIT and see the PQSERVICE partion has a type of 12 which from what I can find should be hidden. My Alt F10 seems to take me to the partition even though it is visble, I did not choose to restore as I really want to figure this out before I re-format this laptop. My concern is why can't I hide PQSERVICE and why are there no drive letters showing in Disk Management? I know most people want to make PQSERVICE visible but I want it to go back to the way it was. Also the PQSERVICE shows a EISA Configuration Healthy in disk Management and therefore I can't do anything to it.
I have an Acer Aspire 3000. I shut it down last night and started it up today. It gets to the login screen where I have to push ctrl + alt + del to log in. At this point it freezes. The touchpad and keys are nonresponsive. I can however get to the boot menu before this point.
View 5 Replies View Relatedregarding the OS intermittently crashing on startup and keyboard/ touchpad not working - Basically, when the machine boots up, XP will load but then freezes when I try to open applications (I.E. for example) and I have to reboot. Now, the keypad has stopped working (although it works in safe mode).
So, I formatted the HD, used the recovery disks to reload winXP and everything appeared to work - except when I tried to install SP2. All other updates install OK but when SP2 installs and my laptop reboots, it gets caught in a rebooting loop and won't load. I read somewhere that this can happen if the Bios is out of date. My problem is that I'm nervous about using the updated bios I downloaded from Acer's site as I've heard it can go wrong and kill my motherboard plus the fact I don't know how to use the programme I downloaded from Acer (Winphlash).
I'm an HP user myself, but my girlfriend has an older ACER Aspire 3000 series (about 2.5 years old). I recently reformatted it, and did a clean install using the recovery discs...
Everything seemed to go fine, until I noticed in the disc manager that the Hard Disc has 3 partitions... one is like 3GB, and the other 2 are about 27GB each... One is the Main C: Drive, and the other is called "Acer Data". This is driving me nuts! She only has 27GB of usable storage on her computer, and I can't figure out how to consolidate the 2 Partitions to make 1 large one. Can anyone please help? It's a 60GB harddrive, and I'd hate to see that go to waste for "Acer data" (whatever that is).
Also, the disc was formatted in FAT32... Is there any reason Acer chooses that file system over NTFS? I'd prefer to format the drive with NTFS... I'm just concerned that if I reformat the drive I'll lose all the drivers and stuff. The computer currently doesn't have any programs installed or any data that needs backing up, so I'm not concerned about that stuff.
when i turn on my Acer Aspire 3000 i put in my password then it makes me choose a windows xp as i have a dual boot but even if i choose either one it give me the message: "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt <Windows root>system32hall.dll

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got a new used laptop but there is no sound at all, the earphone jacks don't work nor the speakers. The mouse pad does not work well either, and, I cannot use my Logitech mouse via. usb port? I am getting ready to re-install because I though this might solve the problem. I tried installing some drivers for AC97 Sound Controller but that did not work either. The drivers would not install, then I uninstalled AC97 in Add-Remove Programs by accident, I was trying to Update it. Then I installed another AC97 from download.net. After this I tried again to Remove and re-install a newer driver but it would not uninstall or install.

In Speedfan there's a a temp called "temp1" and it's the ACPI temperature, but what is it? Is it the chip that's between the radiator and the cpu that has a cooling pad?

I've been having trouble with my laptop battery, its an acer 1642 maybe 3 years old, but i actually think the battery is fine.
I had been unable to get the battery to last for any longer than 20 mins, now this didnt really bother me as i usually always use it near a power outlet anyway, however being bored thought i would try something, so i turned off the battery warnings and automatic shutdown and just let it go untill it died, and it actually lasted aver an hour on 0% yes zero% so that kinda tells me the battery is fine.
when i charged it back up i ran into all sorts of problems, hanging on boot, crashing when i opened up power options and dunno if its related but some system proccess hogging the CPU at at least 50% all the time, however this only really happened when i booted it on AC power, under battery it seemed a lot better, long story slighty shorted, updated the bios and it seems to have fixed this problem.
however this is where it gets weird, now i am unable to get it to charge above 7% yet now when i unplug it at 7% it tells me i have about 3-4 hours left (from new it was never over 1.5hrs) just now its sitting at 7% and 3hrs 12mins.
does anyone know what i have done, battery times all seem to be ok, battery holds the system up no problem it just doenst seem to be reading the charge correctly ... is there anything i can do to fix this, except buying a new battery, really dont wanna do that, no cash just now ... any help would be greatly appreciated
I have an Acer R7-571 that will not run from the battery.
Replaced the Battery
Replaced the motherboard
Replaced Power Port
Replaced power/battery LED board

Still refuses to use the battery, has an X on the battery, won't run unless plugged in.
I use HWMonitor to check temperatures of my Dell Inspiron 1720. On ACPI-
>Temperatures->THM_ it often shows 80 celsius degrees and even above that.
I have 3 old games that run super fast in XP, and I've read that a common fix seems to be running in Uniprocessor mode. XP only installs the ACPI Multiprocessor driver, and I can't change it. I can only select ACPI Multiprocessor, or Standard PC, and when I changed it to Standard PC I lost my keyboard and mouse (and subsequently had to reinstall XP).
Is there any way to either tell Bootcamp to disable one core, or to install XP with the Uniprocessor driver?
I'm running the early 2009 white macbook, and XP Home SP3.
I am planning to buy an Acer Aspire One. Will I be able to upgrade the battery to 6-cell after a use of abt 7/8 months?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI got an Aspire One a few months ago and it worked fine. I hardly ever use it.
I brought it with my on vacation and when I went to boot it up, it wouldn't turn on. Figured the battery was dead so I put the power cord in and turned it on.
After an hour or so, I unplugged the power cable and it instantly shut off. Thought it was weird, but whatever.
I just now noticed though that the battery light blinks orange. XP says the battery is 100%, but if you unplug the AC power, it instantly shuts off and it can't be turned on without the AC.
I just got the 3G version of the Netbook with the 3 cell battery. I'm only getting a bit over 2 hour of battery life with 3G off, my wireless connection on, the screen brightness about half way, and the only program open is Firefox. For example, right now I have 90% capacity and it's showing 1:55. Is this the normal battery life. I know the specs say up to 3 hours, but I never believe in those, and I just want to make sure mine is about right.
I was thinking of getting the 6 cell battery, but I don't want to make the netbook any bulkier than it is (I'll be carrying it back and forth in my work commute).
My netbook runs very slow when on battery power. I've tried every power option and while "Home/Office" seems to work the best (even better than "Always On"), it still runs slower than when plugged in. I'd like to get the same performance on battery that I get when plugged in, even though I understand I may have to sacrifice battery life. Is there a way to do this, or at least to improve battery performance?

My 6-cell is starting to barely give me 4 hours after I accidentally pushed it too far a couple times, and I was searching for a replacement and found these new "9-cell" batteries. Do they really provide the jump in battery life that 6-cells provides over 3-cells?
I can't seem to find a replacement battery for my aspire, all I find is 14.4 or 14.8 volt batteries. Does anyone know where I could order one online? (# on battery is AS07B41)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been looking everywhere for a replacement battery for my Aspire 5044WLMi.
The original battery is part number BTP-AWD1 and is 11.1V 4000mAh and appears to have also been used in Aspires 3610 and 5020 to name a couple.
I have been unable to find the 11.1V version of this battery anywhere but most suppliers have one that is 14.8V.
This seems like a wide voltage variance to me - does anyone know if it would be OK to use the 14.8V version or can anyone steer me to a supplier for the 11.1V version.
IÂ have a ES1-512 laptop bought that is showing a battery problem. It will run on mains power without problem however if mains power is removed it shuts down immediately. Also in the task bar the battery indicator is showing 74% available (plugged in, not charging).
