I have an Acer Ferrari 1000 with Vista Ultimate.
160GB Hard Disk
2GB RAM
This notebook are not CDs of recovery, but a partition PQSERVICE hidden partition.
The structure of this is:
One Hard Disk of 160GB with the following:
C: NTFS Type 06 Label: ACER 70GB
D: NTFS Type 07 Label: DATA 70GB
E: CD-ROM DVD-RAM DRIVE
AND Hidden Partition NTFS Type 12 Label: PQSERVICE 9GB
I don't have access to boot with Windows Vista, is broken...
I need to recover all my system to factory default, but the option ALT+F10 not work: Is enable in the BIOS the D2D Recovery, but i think that there's is some problem with the MBR.
The file acer oolsmbrwrdos.exe NOT EXIST in C: and the hidden partition neither, there is something like that but for windows only... MBRWRWIN.EXE and RTMBR.BIN ....
How can i fix the MBR for the ALT+F10 Works? and restore my system to factory default?
Has anyone tried installing windows 7 on their ferrari 1000? How has your experience with it been? Can you get everything such as the orbi cam, wi-fi, etc. working? I'm on linux now and am pretty intrigued by what windows 7 has to offer. I want to try it out but Acer doesn't have any drivers available yet.
The Acer Ferrari 1000 is the fifth incarnation of the Acer Ferrari line. The Ferrari line was brought as a joint effort between Acer and AMD. The Ferrari part comes into play as both Acer and AMD are sponsors of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 racing team. First impressions of the Acer Ferrari 1000 notebook brought about an impulsive need to purchase. This notebook sets itself apart from the crowd with performance and styling which will get it noticed on your trip to the local coffee house or anywhere for that matter. The Acer Ferrari 1000 is typically categorized as an ultra-compact notebook being that it is only a 12.1 inch notebook. This was one of the primary reasons that this reviewer had for purchasing the Acer Ferrari 1000. At the time this reviewer was looking for a notebook the primary concerns were small, lightweight and the ability to support 4GB or memory. The Acer Ferrari 1000 met all these needs and even delivered more. However, the Ferrari 1000 did not come cheap at an MSRP $1999.
The Ferrari 1000 was the first Ferrari to feature a 12.1 inch chassis, where previous generations were either a 15 or 15.4 inch chassis. Acer meticulously was able to engineer all the style, performance, and quality of the Ferrari line into a small 12.1 inch chassis. Furthermore, they just about got it right on the first try.

After i updated to the new vista BIOS 3c25. my ferrari 3400 cannot wake up from standby. the screen is blank...no Hard drive light blinks..looks like the system got hanged.i have to force the power button to power down the system and restart it again. There is no other issues other than this standby thingy..
since receiving my new Acer 7720-6604 (Cdn) a week ago, I am a firm believer. I cant believe it, the new Acer with 3G's of DDR2 RAM is even slower than my 5 year old Toshiba Satellite 2.8Gz Celery with 768MB of memory. It opens sites faster. It boots faster!
The only changes I have made to the new Acer so far was to uninstall the demo Nortons and have installed AVG free and SpywareBlaster. Also, I have disable Aero
I thought it might be AVG and SpywareBlaster slowing it down so tried it with both uninstalled and no change. Re-installed them
I ran across a MS suggestion using "Ready Boost" in which you utilize a 1G or larger thumbdrive to use as a cache. Possibly a very slight increase, so small I really cant say.
As the new Acer has a Geforce 8600M GT GPU and a T8100 Core 2 Duo processor, it cant be the hardware. The two drives are both WD 5400rpm so its really not them as I dont believe that 7200s would make that big a diff.
I am sorely tempted to utilize the second HDD for an XP install (just that it will be another $100 or so layout) Hoping that the SP1 will sort this garbage out.
I have laptop acer as3810 aspire timeline, it is 13'3 inch and 4gb ram with 320 hard disk and intel core 2 solo su3500 processor, and with vista home premium and i want it vista ultimate.. so I bought vista ultimate cd with activation and all thing and I want to install it, but will it affect the 8 hours battery life, and all the programs will be deleted and in this laptop there is no dvd rom and no cd for acer programs and software.. If I will install windows vista ultimate how i will get acer webcam, acer gamezone, acer aspire as3810 pdf file, acer screensaver, acer wallpapers, acer recovery button, bluetooth, wifi, wlan wireless and the most important that when i change the volume and turn on bluetooth and the touchpad locker it make affect on the screen how i can let these effects still appeared on the screen after changing the windows vista home, are there specific software for this laptop in internet and where and how to let these effects still appeared and gained the 8hours battery life?
My laptop model is Acer Aspire 6920G.I use Vista Home Premium SP1.If i install Vista Ultimate SP1 will my drivers which i backed up on 3 DVDs work when I install them?
It runs like XP with 256MB of memory and this system has 3GB's. The HDD's on this are large WD 160's at 5400rpm, so it cant be them.
I have disable Aero and gotten rid of (uninstalled) the 90day trial Norton.
I am running AVG Free for an AV. Ultimate is a 64bit system
Just opening a new site in IE takes on the average of 15secs or so and initial start up, seems to take forever.
I have went into power management and amended the screen to never turn off and also the HDD's to never turn off.
Before I did this, it went into some sort of sleep/hibernation mode and couldnt figure out how to wake it. I tried using the "sleep mode" at Start>Sleep and it went into sleep fine but when pushing the Power button to re-awaken, I waited about 5 mins and it still didnt awake.
I have an Acer Aspire 7720G which has a Nvidia GeForce 9300M G 256MB graphics card.
Other specs - Core 2 Duo T5750 (2.0 Ghz), 3Gb Ram 667MHz
I've installed a clean version of Vista Ultimate but it doesn't recognise that there's a graphics card present. I've tried to instal the drivers from the Nvidia website but it aborts because it can't find the hardware.
I've also tried installing Vista SP1 but still no avail.
I just got vista ultimate fro my xps m1730 specs intel core 2 extreme processor 4GB RAM nvidia gforce 8800 gtx SLI I need to know what special drivers do i need.. I have fps drops going from 70 to 30 every 2 min. Would greatly be appriciated if you guys give me a link for the little lcd monitor i cant find the driver. I'm such a nub.
I just picked up an XPS Studio 1640 with Vista Home Premium, and I'm planning to do a clean install. I think I have that figured out, but I want to upgrade to Ultimate.
Can anyone tell me if the upgrade will change anything that I have accomplished with the clean install? Will it reset my partitions or anything like that?
hi when i recieve my m1730 from dell im gonna go to microsoft and make it a 64 bit OS and i was wondering where do i go to make all the drivers and things on my laptop 64 bit compatible
I have extended warranty so I called XPS support to replace it and they said no problem, but they would need the part number shipped w/ the XPS M1530 system.
If anyone has the part number from the bottom the the Dell Reinstall disk, or better yet, an SP2 disk, though I doubt they are shipping yet, I could sure use it. You can PM me or post it here..
I want to get it replaced b4 it goes out of warranty as I deleted my recovery partition...
I want to blow out all my existing partitions and put Vista Ultimate 32-bit on my new Studio.
I have been trying to find threads that might help...I'm an old salt at OS installs but these fancy new machines sometimes need drivers for SATA or what have you during the install.
Has anyone successfully installed Vista (any version) from scratch?
Did you have driver issues? Did everything work when you were done?
I plan on putting in a different HDD and trying the install just to see how far I can get.
My 1730 is "In Production" (whatever that means) and I specifically got one with Vista Ultimate so I could use downgrade rights to run XP for a while longer.
Anyone know how I go about exercising these downgrade rights?
I will need a CD Key to install XP Pro, how do I go about obtaining one? Is this a call to Microsoft? Dell? I don't need any media; I have several Microsoft XP OEM CD's from various systems I have built over the years and I have already downloaded all the XP drivers for the 1730 from Dell's site.
Is there a a guide or a faq for brining Z698Y from Vista Ultimate 64bit to Vista Ultimate 32bit? I'm looking to do a clean install but with out loosing any key VAIO controls / drivers
I just installed Vista Ultimate on the hard drive partition of my Sony Vaio Notebook (VGN-CR4000). The other partition has Vista Home and is working fine as it came with the original laptop.
I am not able to see any wireless networks to connect to the internet on the Vista Ultimate OS. This is because I do not have the drivers.. right?
I tried to find drivers on the Sony website, but there are none for my model. What can I do?
It starts to happen and the laptop has been running for several hours. It goes away after a reboot. Its mega annoying when watching a you tube video and it keeps freezing, just for a couple seconds then it goes again. Keeps doing it throughout the video. Also when opening web pages etc. Its aggrivating as heck. Anyone else had this problem. Its not the fans or anything becasue as soon as you reboot its fine again for several hours to even days.
I have a Dell d820, docking station, and monitor stand. I am running Vista ultimate.
My problems are two-fold:Hot docking does not work. If I take my laptop out while it's running and open the screen, it is blank, and it never comes back. Pulling it out while asleep results in similar issues. The only reliable way to dock and undock is to shut down completely
I own a vgn-SR190. I recently had HD failure, so had to buy new HD and reinstall vista. My original version of Vista was Business 32-bit. I didn't make a recovery disc. So I went out and bought vista ultimate 32-bit. Figured I wouldn't have problems, but I did.
I'm having the driver issues that someone in another thread talked about, when you get the problem with vaio mode switch and the battery issue. I downloaded the drivers for Vista Business, figured it would be the same for Ultimate. But I just read someone's post here that the home premium 32-bit drivers are the same as the ultimate 32-bit drivers. Is that true? if it is, I would just have to download the home premium drivers. I just wanted to know if anybody knows for a fact that the home premium drivers are the same as the ultimate drivers, seeing as the business drivers are obviously different.
