View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a laptop of someone I know, it's a Dell Inspiron 8200.The video card seems to be going, because I have lines running down the display. I get them when the computer is hooked up to an external monitor too.
I've already taken it apart to check out the card, but because I didn't have a replacement I had to put it back together. I'm wondering where I could get a replacement card for it.
I am having an issue with my sd card slot. my computer will not recognize that a memory card has been inserted.
I bought this computer refurbished so there is a chance the software driver may not be here at all to patch.
I purchased this laptop about 2 years ago now via Military Tech Source (online military "discounted" sales for PC's) I loved this thing to death. Played my games on deployment's, watched tons of movies, etc. Up until recently I haven't really had any issues of significant value. I lent it to my GF to use as her household PC and now the errors surface.....
For a series of about 2 weeks, the machine would not boot up properly from a standby mode (no video display, sounded like booting up but no video) forced hard start and would work fine
Then (weeks 4-7) it would be selective as to when it would fully boot up. Most days you could fire it up several times and on the third or fourth attempt it would fully boot (no boot = no video, no sound from HDD turning, lights come on but nothing else)
Now, it wont boot at all ( week 8-* ) No display, no sound of normal boot up, nothing. I still get the LAN/Bluetooth and "HDD" lights to come on and the HDD light blinks a few times like it is starting but nothing ever comes up.
I took everything apart and cleaned it out to see if maybe dust or something became an issue, checked and removed/installed the RAM, HDD, DVD Drive, VoIP phone, etc. Attempted the "remove battery - unplug - hold power button for reset" method and still nothing. I am completely clueless and I am pretty sure my warranty is up by now >.<
I just purchased 2 1gb memory sticks for my kids acer aspire 5315 opened up the back put in the two sticks and started the laptop which started and is running fine but whn I look at the system control panel it is only saying that i have 1 gb ram...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my 8200 to Win 7 Enterprise. After formatting my HD, all drivers were installed automatically except the drivers for the the three programmable buttons next to the power button. Even without the driver, the mail and internet buttons work, but they cannot be reprogrammed. I have tried to download from Acers site, but they don't have a driver for 7 yet. The XP and Vista drivers did not work with Win7.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 8200. When I press the power button, the laptop powers up. The power button lights up, but, the PC won't boot up. Even the Dell BIOS screen won't show up.
In fact, nothing on the screen shows up, even though the notebooks powers on
I've never had this issue before, but abruptly my laptop fails to boot up. I'm guessing there might be a hardware problem, but does anyone have any ideas on how to tackle the issue?
My inspiron 8200 slowly started not booting up, now nothing. At one point if i held down on the power button "very hard" it would boot but as soon as i released the pressure from the power button it would shut down. Any suggestions? Should i start with a new power button board? Sell it as a boat anchor?(the 8200's quite heavy)
Are the flashing lights giving me a code? If so, where would i find out about them?
My inspiron E1505's dvd drive doesn't work anymore, i ran diagnostics at the boot screen to verify it.
So is it fixable without buying a new drive and if it isn't is it easy to install?

When I insert any DVD ( original XP CD, empty DVD, empty CD, any movie, etc.), DVD drive tries to read the disk. I can hear the disk spinning and trying to read. After 3-5 seconds the spinning stops and the drive re-tries to read the disk again. This happen continuously until I remove the disk.
I can see the DVD-RW Drive icon in My Computer. I can Eject the DVD by right click -> Eject, on DVD drive icon in My Computer.
The DVD drive works properly. I tested it on other laptop that I have, K series SONY VAIO laptop..................
I bought this laptop G500 Lenovo 4 months ago and I am satisfy but unfortunately I found out still it have defects my problem is my cd/dvd rom I got un annoying noisy sound inside when I put a cd on it I guess it will give me problem sooner and now it happens it won't read anymore. I try to search for answers maybe it only a software issue but doesn't work any trial. Uninstall driver and bring it back don't work still there is the annoying sound and not reading. I guess a mechanical failure in its cd alignment that it is spinning but the head is keep on adjusting which creating the noisy sound means it was not align to read the CD.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm a bit embarrassed to admit to spending 4 or so hours with 4 Dell support fellows (3 chat/1 phone) fiddling with my Inspiron 8200 attempting to connect the Dimension 4600's 1901FP monitor...with no success. After (I've lost count) x number restarts/restores it's a wonder the 8200 seems to be back to where I/we started earlier today
.
1. I would still like to add an external 1600x1200 monitor to the 8200 notebook. The Dell people say it's a no go--maybe with a lower res monitor? The notebook is used by Marilyn (spouse) who does two things: writes a few notes and edits digital photos.
2. As for myself I'd like to exchange the 19" 1901FT for a bit larger (say 23-24" monitor with maybe a bit higher res (for photo editing work.) I've had my eyes on a Samsung 2343 BWX ..with a 2048x1152 resolution...leaving me to wonder if the Dimension 4600 will support it? (Or if I'd best invest in a z590 series Sony Vaio notebook that I can take to the field/drive the Samsung 2343 at home...)
I am planing on buying a Sony Vaio F or FW.When I saw a Sony Vaio FW in Full HD in a store, I felt it hard to read text on it as my eyes started to hurt and I felt it was too bright. Is it just me ? or is it something you get used too ? Are there any improvements in the display of Sony VAIO F ?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI tried turning it on today and at first it wouldn't turn on at all. I switched power outlets and when I pressed the power button, it turned on but the three green lights (power, HDD and battery) started blinking for a few seconds before the system shuts off.
I can't really find if this is some kind of error code or whatnot. I've tried reseating everything except the CPU... I've done the memory, DVD-ROM, HDD, Keyboard, Graphics card... I just don't know what it could be and I have no idea who I could even take the machine to.
I just got the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13.3" Touchscreen Ultrabook - (Intel Core i5-4210U) last week. I need it for college, mostly for reading ebooks and PDF files... but also for HTML coding, photoshop, illustrator, and after effects.
However, I am having lagging problems when reading ebooks, and PDF files (on Adobe Reader). When I scroll the scrolling is choppy, slow and laggy. Is there a way to make the scrolling smoother? This problem happens both in tablet and laptop mode. The scrolling is fine when I'm on the internet or using another software, it mostly happens on PDF files and ebooks.
Just to clarify the lag/choppy scrolling happens BOTH when using the trackpad and when using the touchscrean display. When I open a PDF it is automatically choppy and laggy.
I successfully upgrade an old laptop so that it will run well and not be too costly to upgrade either? So slow at present....
Laptop is:
acer travelmate 4502WLMi running xpsp3
Was thinking that probably the only upgrades worth considering were ram and hdd.
If this is the case what size mem and spec will work?
If the hdd is worth upgrading do I go for internal or external? and what size ?
ive just re-installed vista home premium on my acer travelmate 5320 but now the led for the wireless is reversed, so when the wifi is on the led is off and vice versa does anyone have any ideas whatsoever as i am at a loss with this one.

Fine for all I need but I would love to upgrade the memory. I see it says it can only go up to 1 gig and that it has 256 as standard.
I see there is a slot under a cover on the back, but only 1 slot (Unless I'm not looking properly)
Can I just stick a 1 gig unit in this slot and all will be fine or is there some unusual method to upgrading the memory. Hope it's nothing like the old Dells
I bought a new 8935G and found that the card reader cannot read my 2GB H-Type xD card.
FDXGDFSGDFS
The camera I'm using it in does not show any problem.
GDFSGDFSG
I tried reinstalling reader driver.
GDSFGSF
I teste the reader with an old 16Mb xD card and this works.
FSGFSG
When I put the 2GB card in, Windows Vista says it has to be formatted; at this point the card is already unreadable in the camera and must be formatted againg there.
If I try to format on pc, the process stops at about 90% with an error.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI was given an Acer TravelMate 2300 by someone who has a new one. It came with no guarantees and no recovery CD. It had working verison of XP Pro on it through SP2. I applied SP3 and several updates. It worked good until... I noticed that the C drive was formatted FAT32. So I thought it a good idea to move it to NTFS. Without checking, I fired in "convert c: /fs:ntfs". It rebooted and after a brief look at the Windows XP splash, it goes straight to a stop code x0000024 BSOD. There was nothing on the drive except for the OS so I was felt OK withjust reinstalling from my media.
I dragged out my copy of XP pro slipstreamed with SP2. Booted from CD, went through XP's native setup and detected an "unknown" partition where C used to be. I must've really slammed it. I chose to install to the unknown partition and XP offered to format it NTFS. I chose the thorough format option but it goes only to 24% and stops. The display still shows the progress bar, blue background etc. at 24%.
Since I don't have much experience with laptops, let me ask, is it possible that this laptop/drive ONLY formats to FAT or FAT32 and won't take an NTFS volume? If it will, are there any ideas out there how to apply and NTFS format so I can get this cute little laptop back to a usable state?
i got myself a new Acer Travelbook 5320, i get a win xp image, i burn it to a disc, i put it in, setup loads, i hit enter and he says the setup hasn't found a HD? it says it comes with feakin 160gb of HD memo!

The problem:
Every time I restart, the network card is disabled by default.
On very few occasions, the network card disables itself when surfing the internet.
I tried:
Disabling other network cards
Going to Device Manager, NIC, Untick "Allow the computer to turn off..."
Scan for malware/viruses using AVG 8.0
Conclusion:
Still it doesn't work!
