View 6 Replies View Relatedmy seven week old son decided to vomit across my Acer 5920 laptop yesterday.
The laptop still boots but I can't login as some of the keys are stuck.
I've downloaded the service manual but I can't seem to be able to lift the keyboard off. There are four areas to prize open just below the speaker but I can't work out how to do it - do they push in or lift up?
Do I take out the tray it's sitting in or prize up each of the keys individually?
When I try to remove it, I can't. There are 4 mini holder on the top of the keyboard, after I push them, the keyboard lifts up a bit, but at the upper angles it is still stick to the chassis. No video disassembly guide is available...
View 4 Replies View RelatedTHe Keybaord and touch pad stopped responding, put in a USB mouse, and that works. It crashes when you try to shut down, and holding down the on/off switch does nothing (the whole keypad has died, but lights still work).
Remove battery, and reboot, F2 works to get into BIOS. Alt F10 does nothing on bootup so i can return to factory defaults.
Press F8 and boots into safe mode, keyboard and mouse work fine. Reboot into normal mode, keyboard and mouse no longer work (mouse works if you moce it as windows starts to load, then it just stops). Have to remove battery to reboot.
Complety removed all partitions and formatted, then tried to restore with my backup disks made long ago, but as soon as windows boots, same problem.
Alt F10 still no longer works on bootup, although it is enabled in the BIOS.
It is an Acer Travelmate 2310,
I have even tried to install a new version of XP, from a standard disk, but half way through install, keyboard stops working.
The fact it works in safe mode tells me it's cant be dodgy wiring, whcich usually means driver problems, but the fact ti does it with restore or new install is very confusing.
manual for a 2356 Travelmate or how to remove the case to check if the keyboard connection has come loose? I have performed a factory type reset using the setup and recovery disks but the keyboard still does not work. I have plugged in a usb keyboard which works fine but using it defeats the purpose of having a laptop. The reset was needed as i believe something nasty had got on board. The reset has cleared this all up but the keyboard still does not work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new 12" Acer TravelMate 6293. I've instaled XP, Vista, Win7 and Ubuntu.
In all of them I'm having problems with the keyboard. It works, it's just sometimes it misses out on button presses, like you type a word and its missing a letter etc.
I purchased this laptop about 2 years ago now via Military Tech Source (online military "discounted" sales for PC's) I loved this thing to death. Played my games on deployment's, watched tons of movies, etc. Up until recently I haven't really had any issues of significant value. I lent it to my GF to use as her household PC and now the errors surface.....
For a series of about 2 weeks, the machine would not boot up properly from a standby mode (no video display, sounded like booting up but no video) forced hard start and would work fine
Then (weeks 4-7) it would be selective as to when it would fully boot up. Most days you could fire it up several times and on the third or fourth attempt it would fully boot (no boot = no video, no sound from HDD turning, lights come on but nothing else)
Now, it wont boot at all ( week 8-* ) No display, no sound of normal boot up, nothing. I still get the LAN/Bluetooth and "HDD" lights to come on and the HDD light blinks a few times like it is starting but nothing ever comes up.
I took everything apart and cleaned it out to see if maybe dust or something became an issue, checked and removed/installed the RAM, HDD, DVD Drive, VoIP phone, etc. Attempted the "remove battery - unplug - hold power button for reset" method and still nothing. I am completely clueless and I am pretty sure my warranty is up by now >.<
I would really love to know how to remove the keyboard from my Vaio SR.... I believe the Wireless card is shot... And it's refurb'd so its out of warranty...
I believe the Z and SR have similar designs so if anyone knows how to specifically remove the keyboard I would be forever grateful!
I have never removed a keyboard before and am trying to follow the manual instructions but everytime I try to remove the keyboard, I cant seem to get under the whole keyboard and only the keys come off. It says something about after inserting the plastic scribe pressing the four tabs and i'm trying to do that but I must be doing something wrong.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my 8200 to Win 7 Enterprise. After formatting my HD, all drivers were installed automatically except the drivers for the the three programmable buttons next to the power button. Even without the driver, the mail and internet buttons work, but they cannot be reprogrammed. I have tried to download from Acers site, but they don't have a driver for 7 yet. The XP and Vista drivers did not work with Win7.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI need to get inside my vostro 1440 to replace the wireles card, but I can't figure out how to remove the keyboard. The user manual at URL.. says to "Pry up to release the top four snaps securing the keyboard to the computer."
what does "pry up" mean?I think I shoud be lifting up something metallic (the keyboard frame) not the flimsy pastic that surrounds the keys right? do I need to do all 4 snaps at once? when I push with a screwdriver I can't feel which way it's supposed to give and don't want to damage the laptop
Re HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC, Windows 8, 64-bit. I want to be able to safely remove a USB thumb-drive without shutting down the computer. There is no icon for "Safely Remove Hardware" as on other computers I have. I have not been able to find the program or its icon using "search" or "find". It is not indexed in the user guide.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 8200. When I press the power button, the laptop powers up. The power button lights up, but, the PC won't boot up. Even the Dell BIOS screen won't show up.
In fact, nothing on the screen shows up, even though the notebooks powers on
I've never had this issue before, but abruptly my laptop fails to boot up. I'm guessing there might be a hardware problem, but does anyone have any ideas on how to tackle the issue?
My inspiron 8200 slowly started not booting up, now nothing. At one point if i held down on the power button "very hard" it would boot but as soon as i released the pressure from the power button it would shut down. Any suggestions? Should i start with a new power button board? Sell it as a boat anchor?(the 8200's quite heavy)
Are the flashing lights giving me a code? If so, where would i find out about them?
I'm working on a laptop of someone I know, it's a Dell Inspiron 8200.The video card seems to be going, because I have lines running down the display. I get them when the computer is hooked up to an external monitor too.
I've already taken it apart to check out the card, but because I didn't have a replacement I had to put it back together. I'm wondering where I could get a replacement card for it.
I'm a bit embarrassed to admit to spending 4 or so hours with 4 Dell support fellows (3 chat/1 phone) fiddling with my Inspiron 8200 attempting to connect the Dimension 4600's 1901FP monitor...with no success. After (I've lost count) x number restarts/restores it's a wonder the 8200 seems to be back to where I/we started earlier today
.
1. I would still like to add an external 1600x1200 monitor to the 8200 notebook. The Dell people say it's a no go--maybe with a lower res monitor? The notebook is used by Marilyn (spouse) who does two things: writes a few notes and edits digital photos.
2. As for myself I'd like to exchange the 19" 1901FT for a bit larger (say 23-24" monitor with maybe a bit higher res (for photo editing work.) I've had my eyes on a Samsung 2343 BWX ..with a 2048x1152 resolution...leaving me to wonder if the Dimension 4600 will support it? (Or if I'd best invest in a z590 series Sony Vaio notebook that I can take to the field/drive the Samsung 2343 at home...)
just got a new Acer 6530 laptop and it has SOOO much bloatware, a lot of things that i don't even need. I like how Dell had like zero bloatware. i like Acer's program that backups the whole system though. Does Vista have something like that?
Should i delete all the programs from Control Panel or is there a way for me to install a version of Vista (downloaded copy from a torrent site) and then use the key provided from the Acer laptop so I know it'll only install Vista?
I tried turning it on today and at first it wouldn't turn on at all. I switched power outlets and when I pressed the power button, it turned on but the three green lights (power, HDD and battery) started blinking for a few seconds before the system shuts off.
I can't really find if this is some kind of error code or whatnot. I've tried reseating everything except the CPU... I've done the memory, DVD-ROM, HDD, Keyboard, Graphics card... I just don't know what it could be and I have no idea who I could even take the machine to.
how to remove the Empowering Technology application from windows start up programs? I tried configuring it from msconfig to no avail.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anyone got a process and/or pictures of how to remove the DVD drive from an Aspire series notebook? Most other laptops ive seen are just a slider or single screw but seemingly not that on this model.
Ive even gone as far as removing all the screws on the underside but it still doesn't loosen the drive.
I want to remove it to clean and check another model drive to see if its a drive fault or not and if there is a fault replace.
I've got this notebook with an 80 gb hard disk but need to replace it with a 120gb & despite trawling the acer support site & the internet I can't find a guide on how to remove the hard disk.
