I've got this notebook with an 80 gb hard disk but need to replace it with a 120gb & despite trawling the acer support site & the internet I can't find a guide on how to remove the hard disk.
I've managed to remove the base cover with 7 screws & can see the ram; fan; hard disk etc but can't see just how to get the hard disk out?
I have BootCamp configured and my HD is partitioned into two. In Leopard, I display the Hard disk icons on the desktop, but now I have the Windows hard disk too, which is annoying. I never use it and it's annoying. If I go to the finder settings and turn off the "display hard disk" setting, all my HD icons disappear, even the Macintosh HD one. How can I remove only one HD icon (the Windows HD)?
i own an acer aspire 5630, which i bought in 2007. never had a problem with it, apart from cleaning the fan and heat sink from dust which i've done two or three times.
in the last week i've had a new overheating problem, which is that my hard disk has started getting extremely hot. now the fan is defiitely working, because i can hear it.
so i'm a bit confused about what to do. i thought perhaps the fan maybe isn't working as well as it has in the past, and that maybe i should just buy a new fan for it.
why the hard disk would be getting so hot all of a sudden,
I own a 5920G. Recently, after formatting my hard disk, I discovered my recovery discs are damaged and I accidentally wiped out my hard disk recovery partition some time ago while installing linux. I managed to copy both the recovery DVDs into my hard disk (not completely), and managed to download some missing drivers & patches from acer & microsoft which were unrecoverable from the discs. The only missing file now is an Image file from Disc2 named D5E0A592.132 (around 50MB). It is the last recovery image in disc2, in a folder named 'Images'. I don't want to take it to Acer service etc because i need to use my notebook a lot, and because my warranty peroid is over.
to upload this single file (D5E0A592.132), preferably to any file hosting service? (eg rapidshare etc). I have been searching online for this file for days.
Model: Acer 5920G-602G32Mn
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
I don't think this is illegal, because I'm not pirating any disc or requesting any pirate disc. I do own a legal copy of Windows Vista which came with the notebook.
I have a 80 GB Sata HDD, on a (virtual ((i still dont have it exactly... ))) 5315 C2D T8300 laptop. and i was wondering if i should upgrade it. What will change exactly, is it worth it, and if yes what kind of HDD should i look for?
I have desktop internal hard-drive that I use as an external hard-drive via usb/sata cable.
Recently I cloned my Internal laptop hard drive to the desktop internal hard drive that I mentioned above, but the problem is that whenever I connect the desktop hard-disk again to my laptop via usb/sata calbe the drive doesn't show up, it is detected by the BIOS and Windows Device manager but it doesn't show up along my laptop internal hard drive with an independent letter like it used to before I made the cloning.
I just got an Intel X18-M G1 80 gb ssd with a 2.5" enclosure to upgrade the HDD in my Acer 1410.
I opened the back panel, removed the 2 screws, then removed plastic piece holding down the gold connector, and pulled the plastic tape to get the hard drive out.
Problem now is, how do I remove the old hard drive from the chasis? I've upgraded laptop drives before and usually just there is a SATA connector. But here the SATA connector seems to be connected to a chasis/circuit board. There are several 6 point star shaped screws, including some covered by a piece of black plastic.
My problem is that when you turn on the laptop. My monitor shows no signs nor there is activity on the hard disk. I tried to remove the ram, hdd, bios battery, connect it to a tv with hdmi and still no sign of life.
I have an acer 5741 g laptop ..when i try to turn it on with or without battery , it makes a single tick noise in hard disk section and turns off...i tried using faulty laptop's hdd in another laptop but it is working fine..even in some instances after turning off, it automatically tries to turn on but goes through same tick noise and turns off.
I just tried new hdd in faulty laptop but it makes same tick noise an turns off. **bleep** i try going into bios with f2 but it opens cmos and turns off again...
How do you take out the hard drive on dv5t? After removing the cover, I noticed that the hard drive is attached to the board through a connector, I find it impossible to make it come off?
How to remove Windows 8 & restore my dell Windows Vista home premium from the same hard drive that hasn't been partitioned. My computer is a Dell Vostro 1500

my laptop, hp pavillion g60-120us has been slowing down and crashing lately, so i ran hd tune to check it's temperature and found out it's running at around 62c with several programs running - firefox with multiple tabs, majic jack, hd tune, and the usual security-antiivirus and spyware.
when i first turn the laptop on, it starts at around 40c and quickly goes up to the 60's within 20-30 minutes.
when i run a scan of antivirus or ultimate defrag it tops out at around 70c.
the hd tuner hits critical hard disk temperature at 55c and pop ups a message every few seconds.
i've also run speedfan, and it tells me the same temperature.
is it normal for a laptop to run a temperature in the high 60's...should i put it on a block of dry ice, or move to the north pole?
I am thinking buying a 500GB 2.5" WD HD for my macbook and taking out the original HD. Can I swap the macbook HD with the PS3 120G HD? so I can download more contents from PSN.

I am planning to buy New Dell Inspiron 15 series 7000. I would want to replace the harddisk with SSD by next year or so. But i wanted to know if i can have SSD along with hard disk in this laptop.
I wanted both good performance along with large storage. So i was wondering if i can have two disks at once.
Is it possible to install a second hard disk in E4300?
Earlier the option used to be available whilst configuring the E4300 online to add a second 1.8inch hard disk. Now it is no longer there. Can the same be ordered through a Dell rep? What exactly is it that comes when you order this?
I will be grateful if someone can share this info. This will be the deal maker/breaker for me on the E4300.
My Studio originally had a Toshiba, 5400 rpm 250 gb drive in it.
I bought a Western Digital 7200 rpm 360 gb drive to add to my laptop. I also got the carrier assembly from Dell and I installed the Western Digital into the Studio 17 in drive bay 1 , and put the Toshiba into Drive bay 2.
I had made an image of my C drive with Vista on it, and after installing the new hard drive I put the image onto the Western Digital drive, and all seemed to be well, I booted up and get into Vista, but now I see the C:
local hard drive shows exactly what I had before, and Vista is showing my new drive as Drive F: but it also has all my files on it exactly as the original C image that I made .....
I have had a disaster with my Vaio TX5N/B, the hard disc has given up with no warning, any way not to worry I thought I will take this opportunity of upgrading the HD unit from the Tohiba 100gb 1.8" ATA7 MK1011GAH, HDD1789 to a Toshiba 120gb 1.8" ATA7 MK1214GAH, HDD1902 unit, both have the ZIF-40 interface and run at the same speed. I have installed the unit but the BIOS is not recognising the unit, it finds the DVD/CD unit ok, I have the latest BIOS update installed
Has anyone come across this issue before or has any ideas on what I can try to get the BIOS to recognise the Unit
i have got vaio fz140 eb model which came with windows vista home premium and 200 gb disk.
i have installed western digital 500 gb disk drive which was running fantastic till 4 days.i have installed windows 7 home premium family pack on this system.
issue i am facing is weird.few days ago i copied few GB of data from western digital portable drive of my senior.while copying data,it was scanned by Kaspersky internet security which found some 70 virus .it managed to fix them all.it was fat32 formatted drive.
now problem is my laptop becomes unresponsive for long duration.then only thing i can do is forced shutdown.after restart.it does chkdisk and says fixing this fixing that.
but problem is still their.what i realised is it was giving errors on some perticular file.
i ran western digital life tools to diagnose this drive.it says SMART test pass but it says this error........
