Acer Extensa 5630z :: Does Not Recognize Memory That Came With It Properly
Nov 10, 2014I have an Acer Extena 5630z that came with 4 GB memory (2 times 2 GB modules) from the factory. However, the BIOS reports only 3 GB in any OS I try be it 64 or 32 bit. Why is this? The BIOS is version 1.19 and there are newer ones. Should I consider an update? Is this a memory remappin issue
This processor and chipset should support 36 bit address space in a 32 bit OS even.

Oct 24, 2014I need to restore the system to factory default. When I tried, I got this error:
"Hard drive configuration is not set to the factory default. Restore aborted."
When I checked the partitions, the drive structure was as follows:

2) If not possible, can I reinstall Windows from scratch and remove all those partitions, or what becomes of them?
I'm not sure how Acer or Windows handles the Main 500GB HD and the 24GB SSD when a reinstall is done.

Oct 17, 2011I am so tired of receiving Low Disk Space on recovery (D). I have done everything it asked. Empty Recycle Bin which is EMPTY. I am not a computer wizard but it seems unfair that I have pay over $150.00 year to correct this problem once a year. I have checked a lot of places and it just keeps telling me the same thing. That doesn't work.

Acer :: Extensa 4420- Error Message (update Your ATI Graphics Driver)
Dec 18, 2008Every time I start up my Extensa 4420, I get the following error message window:
"The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your ATI graphics driver, or enable your adapter using the Displays Manager."
Why is this happening? If I go into the device manager, it says that the graphics adapter is working. If I tell it to check for updated drivers it says that the driver I have installed is the most current one. Everything seems to work fine on the computer. How can I stop the message from popping up every time?

Repair install wont work so ill just go with the Recovery install off partition. There seems to be no F10 option when booting up

Sep 18, 2009I just bought the Probook 4710s 5 days ago, and some times when I try to start the computer, it just wrights on the screen Non system disk or disk error, please replace and press any key... I don't have any CD or DVD in CD/DVD unit or any USB keys... when I try to scan the hard disk it reports to me No hard disk found. Every now and than it starts Windows normaly, but it keeps repeating frequently the same boot problem and not beeing able to start my comp.
Does it mean that the hard disk is bad or broken, or it will be soon...or what? Should I return the laptop and ask for replacement?
Acer :: Getting Recovery Disk To Work
Sep 18, 2008Bought 5530 in August but already need to run recovery disks as the photo gallery constantly crashes and using restore to an earlier date does not work. I burnt two DVD's when I got it and they looked OK. However after changing start up in BIOS to dvd drive then restarting holding down f8, when pressing the complete restore tab nothing happens except a message saying no restore dvd or HD can be found. Cannot think what to try as the disks and dvd drive appear fine. I wish they included the disks with machine like sony do then you would be 100% sure it is not the disks at fault. Anyone else encounter this? I am sure the problem with the photo gallery is not a virus as I do not use the machine on the internet

Feb 3, 2010I was given a broken 5600 - if I could fix it, it was mine. I fixed the electrical fault, but also foolishly deleted the hidden partition 1, which apparently held the restore image. The donor doesn't have the recovery CD, and I now need to do a full recovery. The drivers on the Acer site don't quite do the trick, and there's nothing I can find on the site to buy a new recovery disk.

Jun 20, 2009One of the OEM memory modules took a hike, so I replaced both modules with a Corsair 2x2gb DDR2 800MHz kit.
Did the Alt-F10 and got Vista back.
While deleting all the bloat-ware I was prompted to make the Recovery Disk.
I went ahead and made the Recovery Disk after deleting all the game stuff.
After all that business I went ahead and finished deleting the NTI back up 5 and a couple other things.
Now I am in the process of installing the downloaded .exe SP2 for Vista and will jump online and do some other Microsoft updates (Defender, Explorer 8) the usual stuff.
Can I make another set of restore disk that will have all the updates and all that buiness? Or is the restore disk option just for when you first start using the system?
Acer Aspire V5 :: Unable To Restore From Recovery Disk
Sep 23, 2014I had to buy the recovery disk for my Aspire V5, when I start I change the bios to UEFI with secure enabled, then I use the disk Recovery System, once that I´m in the Acer Console Management, and I Selected the restore full, a pop up came with the message "Please Change your bios to Legacy¨ so I click on the exit button, and I enter to the bios and select the legacy mode, then the acer console management starts and says that the systems recovery fails because this is only for UEFI mode. So I dont know what to do, I have another 4 disk for the recovery but none of this is a booteable disk. Also I tried with UEFI and boot secure disable and same result .

Nov 27, 2008Im only just burning the factory DVD restore of my system via Acer eRecovery Management. I should have done this a long time ago right when I first recieved my laptop. What ends up on the factory restore DVD?
Another question, my laptop really has noticably slowed down since purchase. I know this is natural...especially as I currently have lots of games installed...only 9GB currently free on C.
This free space varies drastically day to day as restore points seem to automatically be generated by vista. I think this automatically takes place when vista downloads and installs updates. How can I change this? It's annoying as I have a consitently fluctuating amount of free space on C..I frequently delete these points using Tune Up Utilities 2008 which brings me back to the norm.
Also, the D partition seems like a huge waste of space to just leave as it is. There are 103GB free on this partition with only two windows folders existing on there. I have never touched this partition thinking it is there only for disaster situations, like if vista dies and wants to make an image of itself here.
Is this correct or can I move other files onto this partition? Will this increase performance?
Im just trying to increase the speed of my laptop day to day workings. My girfriend was saying that the D partition can maybe be somehow partitioned to speed up the laptop?
Acer :: Recovery Disk Difference In Programs In French And English Language
Dec 24, 2008I got myself a new laptop but it became french not english(didn't get to decide, wasn't there then), but I got the store i bought it from to put it into english. The problem is that when it was french there were more programs like gridvista, eye webcam etc. Now that it's english there none of those programs. So i'm wondering if I should do the eRecovery management thing, will it stay in english with the programs like the french one? or should i ask for recovery disks from acer and tell them my problem?... it's a acer 5920g/5920-6642 laptop...says both on my laptop.

Booted with recovery disk. 1st screen US english next. second screen no OS in box. tried restore with image you have created earlier. could not find image. tried other recovery tool, Recovery Management. will not let me click on completely restore system to factory defaults. If I go back and click install drivers the disk has many applications and drivers. Put the old HDD back in and booted from disk. It allowed me to click on restore to default but when finished and restarted nothing. restarted wit f2 and with old drive in shows no HDD

Sep 5, 2014During restore using Acer recovery disks for this Acer aspire 551, the recovery stalls at the final step where the wim file is written to the c: drive. It gives me an i/o error.
I suspect that the disk is functional because I have run the cmd.exe program from the x:drive and then run both scndsk.exe and scndsk.exe /F to fix any errors. No errors were detected.
However, any fix for this error that I have encountered suggests replacing the hardrive. This seems to be inappropriate, in this case.
I should also say that I have used dos commands to copy a file from the system32 directory to the c: drive successfully suggesting that there is no problem with writing to the disk.
Lastly, the cd rom hardware must be working or the disks would not be successfully read to the final stage. How this can be an i/o error eludes me.

Oct 19, 2009I managed to create a Recovery Disc last night using the hard drive from the 6820s in an external caddy and accessed the Recovery CD creator that way.
But now I'm having a problem trying to reinstall Windows Vista as when I accessed the section concerning the complete format and reinstallation of Windows Vista; I got the following message:

Acer Aspire V3-551G :: System Disk Copied To USB Boots But Never Sees Recovery CD
Nov 21, 2014HDD broke. I bought new one and recovery cds. BUT my aspire V3-551G never boots from cd. Copied system disk to flash and that boots but no way to get it to recognize recovery disk 1. Is the fault in bios, physical dvd drive, or recovery software?
Can I (or should i):
A. edit some file in usb system disk to get it to cooperate
B. update bios
C. move a dvd drive from other laptop
D. get usb cd drive (tried didnt work)
E. get other usb flash hdd (as if that changes things somehow)
F. Move HDD to other laptop and either boot or work through windows there
G. Find acer accepted laptop fixer (how)
Acer Aspire ES1-111M :: Can't Delete Recovery Partition To Free Up Disk Space
Dec 20, 2014I've created a Factory Default Backup with a USB drive with Acer Recovery Management. I see this message which tells me I can delete the recovery partion to free up disk space after I've created the backup but it never gives me the option to do so.
I DO get the option to remove the Driver Recovery Partition after backing it up to USB but not the 10GB Recovery Partition. It's a a HUGE deal on a system that only has a 32GB hard drive.

Mar 2, 2013I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 and run Windows Visa Home Edition.I wanted to restore my laptop to its factory settings but the Recovery Manager wouldn't work. When I clicked on it it would just restart the computer without anything else happening. I then right clicked on the computer >manage> disk manager and made the recovery partition active. When I rebooted the computer it began showing:Bootmgr is missingPress Ctrl+Alt+DeleteWhich of course leads back to the same message after te computer reboots. I can't access F8 key. Only F10 (Bios) works. I don't have a recovery or installation CD as it didn't come with the laptop when I purchased it.Is there anyway I can change the active partition back to the C drive, this disabling the recovery partition? I read that it was possible to access disk manager from cmd prompt window, but I don't know how to access it since the F8 key won't work (makes just a bipping noise when pressed)?I am also out of the country so can't mail my laptop to HP to have it fixed.

Jan 25, 2015HP dv7-3065dx Entertainment Notebook. Win 7.
HP battery alert system detected battery capacity to be very low error 601 (internal battery). So I changed the cell to a new CR 2032 battery. Showed the same error. I changed to another new CR2032 battery. The second time I did this I had a new 502 CMOS error along with the 601 error. My clock reverted back to 2009, I lost some of the icons on the lower right, and my wireless internet disappeared.
Now I have two things that need to be fixed.
I turned on, immediately hti ESC, hit system diag. F2, Battery Test:
Battery Test Primary FAILED (on the first battery I put in, didn't check on the second)
Control - Device Mgr. - HP - Batteries - Microsoft AC Adapter, Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery, and Microsoft Composit Battery all show that they work.
System CMOS/realtime clock says its working.
Microsoft System Mgmt. - BIOS Driver v. 6.1.7601.17514 from 6/21/2006 says it's the latest version.
I've manually updated my clock. I'll figure out the wireless and icons later I guess. Just need to know what to do about the errors.
