Sony :: Creating Recovery Disk For VPCZ1

Mar 29, 2010

I've been trying to create recovery disks for the new VPCZ1 I got a couple days ago through the VIAO care Recovery and Restore tool. I get two error messages either:

"No installed optical drive is detected on your computer" even though the drive seems to be working fine outside of the recovery tool.

or

"The disc in the drive is not blank or is not a supported disc type"
even though the computer recognizes the disc as a blank dvd outside of the recovery tool.

I usually get the first error message, then when I hit "back" and click create a recovery disk again, I get the second error message.

Sony :: Creating Recovery Disks...only Using One Disk

I hear it is possible to create a recovery disk on only one DVD-R for my Vaio laptop. I lost my disks and need to recreate them, but the recovery app fails after a few disks.

What I need to know is what type of DVD-R can I buy that would have the capacity to hold all the recovery disks data?

Acer :: Creating BIOS Flashing Boot Disk

Dec 4, 2009

Reason for this is to flash your BIOS the safer way.

Windows has alot of services that can potentially hang the flashing process, hence DOS Mode where no other process is running is the safe way to flash.

First of all get the package here

Extract all the files to Desktop

Go into the folder.

You should see a HP Drive Key Utility.

Install it.

Open the Program With Administrative Permission with Right Click as shown below:.......

I am so tired of receiving Low Disk Space on recovery (D). I have done everything it asked. Empty Recycle Bin which is EMPTY. I am not a computer wizard but it seems unfair that I have pay over $150.00 year to correct this problem once a year. I have checked a lot of places and it just keeps telling me the same thing. That doesn't work.

I did just install a HP wireless printer 3052A

Sony :: Creating Recovery Disks For VGN-NS110E

Jun 8, 2009

I have formatted my drive and installed fresh copy of Vista and I forgot to backup my data.

I have recovered this partition labeled Compaq Diagnostics. Would that be the recovery image for my laptop? I have copied this partition onto an external drive. My question now is what is the next step to do in order to create the recovery disks? Do I boot and try F10? Will that look at the files for recovery that are now on an external drive?

Dell XPS 13z L321X :: Creating Factory Recovery USB

Apr 19, 2013

I bought a Dell XPS13z (L321X) in near future. But It's broken because of an Accident. The screen is broken completely. Probably it will be repaired after insurance procedure finished. Just because of it will take time and I need a computer I bought the new  XPS13z  again.

I have created a Factory Restore USB Flash Disc for my first laptop. Can I use this USB Flash Recovery for Both Laptops. Or Should I create the new one for the second laptop. They both are XPS13z (L321X)  with same hardware. If the recovery usb includes same software I want to keep only one Recovery USB for Both.

Lenovo ThinkPad W Series :: W530 - Creating Recovery Media?

Mar 1, 2014

I recently acquired a new Thinkpad W530 with Windows 7 Pro.

I want to immediately replace the 500gb main drive with a larger one.  I plan to do this by imaging the system partition of the current drive to an external USB hdd, and then then writing the image to the larger one after it's installed in the W530.

My question:  Can I then just store the original drive away as is, to use for recovery (should the need arise), in lieu of creating recovery media now?

It seems pretty clear the answer should be "yes," but since I've always used XP up until now I'm wondering if there are any kinds of Win 7-specific watchouts (maybe licensing-rleated?) that would keep things from being as simple as popping the original drive back in the main hdd slot to get things back to exactly where they are today?

Acer :: Getting Recovery Disk To Work

Sep 18, 2008

Bought 5530 in August but already need to run recovery disks as the photo gallery constantly crashes and using restore to an earlier date does not work. I burnt two DVD's when I got it and they looked OK. However after changing start up in BIOS to dvd drive then restarting holding down f8, when pressing the complete restore tab nothing happens except a message saying no restore dvd or HD can be found. Cannot think what to try as the disks and dvd drive appear fine. I wish they included the disks with machine like sony do then you would be 100% sure it is not the disks at fault. Anyone else encounter this? I am sure the problem with the photo gallery is not a virus as I do not use the machine on the internet

Acer :: Recovery Disk Aspire 5600

Feb 3, 2010

I was given a broken 5600 - if I could fix it, it was mine. I fixed the electrical fault, but also foolishly deleted the hidden partition 1, which apparently held the restore image. The donor doesn't have the recovery CD, and I now need to do a full recovery. The drivers on the Acer site don't quite do the trick, and there's nothing I can find on the site to buy a new recovery disk.

Acer :: 5735-4774 Recovery Disk

Jun 20, 2009

One of the OEM memory modules took a hike, so I replaced both modules with a Corsair 2x2gb DDR2 800MHz kit.

Did the Alt-F10 and got Vista back.

While deleting all the bloat-ware I was prompted to make the Recovery Disk.

I went ahead and made the Recovery Disk after deleting all the game stuff.

After all that business I went ahead and finished deleting the NTI back up 5 and a couple other things.

Now I am in the process of installing the downloaded .exe SP2 for Vista and will jump online and do some other Microsoft updates (Defender, Explorer 8) the usual stuff.

Can I make another set of restore disk that will have all the updates and all that buiness? Or is the restore disk option just for when you first start using the system?

So I dont know what to do, I have another 4 disk for the recovery but none of this is a booteable disk. Also I tried with UEFI and boot secure disable and same result .

Acer :: Aspire 5920G Recovery Disk, D Drive And Restore Points

Nov 27, 2008

Im only just burning the factory DVD restore of my system via Acer eRecovery Management. I should have done this a long time ago right when I first recieved my laptop. What ends up on the factory restore DVD?

Another question, my laptop really has noticably slowed down since purchase. I know this is natural...especially as I currently have lots of games installed...only 9GB currently free on C.

This free space varies drastically day to day as restore points seem to automatically be generated by vista. I think this automatically takes place when vista downloads and installs updates. How can I change this? It's annoying as I have a consitently fluctuating amount of free space on C..I frequently delete these points using Tune Up Utilities 2008 which brings me back to the norm.

Also, the D partition seems like a huge waste of space to just leave as it is. There are 103GB free on this partition with only two windows folders existing on there. I have never touched this partition thinking it is there only for disaster situations, like if vista dies and wants to make an image of itself here.
Is this correct or can I move other files onto this partition? Will this increase performance?

Im just trying to increase the speed of my laptop day to day workings. My girfriend was saying that the D partition can maybe be somehow partitioned to speed up the laptop?

So i'm wondering if I should do the eRecovery management thing, will it stay in english with the programs like the french one? or should i ask for recovery disks from acer and tell them my problem?... it's a acer 5920g/5920-6642 laptop...says both on my laptop.

Acer Aspire R7-571G :: Re-partitioned Disk 1 - Error Finding Recovery

1) How can I find or get to the  Recovery Partition?
2) If not possible, can I reinstall Windows from scratch and remove all those partitions, or what becomes of them?

I'm not sure how Acer or Windows handles the Main 500GB HD and the 24GB SSD when a reinstall is done.

HP Pavilion Dv6000 Recovery :: Bootmgr Is Missing - No Installation Or Recovery Disk

Mar 2, 2013

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 and run Windows Visa Home Edition.I wanted to restore my laptop to its factory settings but the Recovery Manager wouldn't work. When I clicked on it it would just restart the computer without anything else happening. I then right clicked on the computer >manage> disk manager and made the recovery partition active. When I rebooted the computer it began showing:Bootmgr is missingPress Ctrl+Alt+DeleteWhich of course leads back to the same message after te computer reboots. I can't access F8 key. Only F10 (Bios) works. I don't have a recovery or installation CD as it didn't come with the laptop when I purchased it.Is there anyway I can change the active partition back to the C drive, this disabling the recovery partition? I read that it was possible to access disk manager from cmd prompt window, but I don't know how to access it since the F8 key won't work (makes just a bipping noise when pressed)?I am also out of the country so can't mail my laptop to HP to have it fixed.

Sony :: Recovery Disk

Nov 25, 2009

Bought my Vaio only a couple of months ago. Thought it was the best thing in the world. When I finally got it and turned it on it kept reminding me to make Recovery Disks!

Finally got around to doing that and stored them in a safe place.

Seeing that I had bought it at a certain time I was receiving the upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium for free. Now mind you, everything was working fine on my laptop up to this point. Windows Vista 64bit Home Premium was doing a fine job. Well, after receiving the upgrade I went ahead and installed it. Also did the companion cd that came along with the upgrade. Went to sony esupport webpage and downloaded all upgrades from there.

This is where things started to go wrong. For some odd reason, some of the upgrades from the esupport webpage would not install, mainly the WinDVD program for my Blueray player.

Idid everything that I knew possible to get it to install. Nothing worked. I finally got to the point where I was about ready to call Sony and tell them to take the dang thing back. Now here is where I start to make mistakes. Being as frustrated as I was, and not thinking about the possible consequences...I inserted the recovery disk into my laptop. Turn off the laptop and restarted. Up pops the menu to erase all the stuff from my C: Drive.....and that's what I did. After all was said and done and while trying to restore my C: Drive, I find out that the first disk that I made is corrupt. Mainly the P23.sny file. If I could somehow possibly get this file from someone then I could make a new recovery disk and start all over again. I've looked on the laptop to see if that specific file is there and alas it is not......don't know why either. I need help in a big way.
