Acer :: Travelmate 4500 Series- Booting..blue Screen
I'm writing on behalf of a friend who has an Acer Travelmate 4500 series laptop...4502LMi to be precise.
Okay here's the deal:
press power > black screen with safe mode options appears > select Start Windows Normally >Then black Windows XP logo startup screen
appears > then screen appears saying checking disk for consistency, volume Serial Number is 2629-16F0 > after check disk completes then Acer screen appears > Then screen saying " To begin, click your username" > then click username and then desktop appears > 5 seconds later blue screen appears saying :
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
*** STOP: 0x0000000A (0xFF1711F2, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804D9B64)
Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or tech support group.
Then computer restarts and the blue screen appears again.... then restarts and then Black safe mode screen appears again.... then windows logo screen then restarts etc. etc. etc.
When trying to boot in safe mode screen says:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)WINDOWSSystem32 ..but freezes. doesn’t boot.......
Acer :: Ferrari Wallpaper
"Upgraded" one of my acer laptops to Vista from XP and now the beautiful Ferrari wallpaper doesn't function properly. I moved the folder from a different (XP) machine onto the Vista one, and it almost works. If I double-click the "FerrariWP.exe" file, the wallpaper shows up and with the correct date - however it never updates and it stays on the same day. If I uninstall and double-click again-everything is ok until the next day
My guess is that there is a slightly different version needed for Vista, and since Acer did ship many of these laptops with Vista preinstalled, there has to be (Ok, I'm hoping there is) a version floating around somewhere that is Vista-compatible.
Not the end of the world, but I've gotten really used to having that great looking calendar on the desktop and I'm not ready to give it up yet..
Dell :: M1730 Wallpaper

Acer :: Acer 6930ZG With A Fresh Install Of Windows 7 RC 32bit - MapleStory Blue Screen Of Death
I have an Acer 6930ZG with a fresh install of windows 7 RC 32bit. I can play Call Of Duty 4, Counter Strike, Flatout 2 etc. with no problems! But when I try to open MapleStory a blue screen appears, and begin to make a physcial memory dump? . MapleStory is a 2D-game, and Call Of Duty requires much more.
I made a little research, and I found out that alot of people have the same problem, and they said it was caused by a conflict with a program or hardware drivers. I have tried to delete my NVIDIA driver, and install it again. No luck.
And yes, I have also tried to run MapleStory in compatibily mode
As I said: It's only in MapleStory I experience the problem, and I don't think it's ram-failure, since I have seen the same problem on a different computer, and I can play Call of Duty 4.
Here is the system log:

Acer :: Upgrading Old Laptop - Acer Travelmate 4502WLMi Running Xpsp3
I successfully upgrade an old laptop so that it will run well and not be too costly to upgrade either? So slow at present....
acer travelmate 4502WLMi running xpsp3
Was thinking that probably the only upgrades worth considering were ram and hdd.
If this is the case what size mem and spec will work?
If the hdd is worth upgrading do I go for internal or external? and what size ?
Acer :: Gemstone Blue 6920
Well I just Bought the last saturday an acer gemstone blue 6920. The model with the intel gma x3100 and it came with Windows Vista Premium. The first thing that i did was to install the newest drivers of vga..i downloaded them from the intel website but the results were ugly..
I decided to downgrade the OS to Windows XP Pro...And I did it i have to put my HD on IDE MODE from the bios and install without a problem..
I downloaed the xp drivers...
After this i played fifa 09 but in two time the game crashes and when i closed the game with ALT+F4 i saw the next message:
THE SCREEN DRIVER IGXPRD2 STOP WORKING etc etc and the screen went like if I doesnt have any driver so i have to restart
Searching via google I found that there is an old driver(188.8.131.5259) that makes the performance on gaming a little better...well i found the driver and installed.
The results? Yeah it was true the fps in games were a little better but when it seems to be all normal THEN THE GAME CRASHES AND BSOD!
Yeah Blue screen of death so i have to restart...only have been happenned two times and the gameplay is much better than with the latest drivers but i need to do something with that BSOD...It doesn't appear much but its a problem.....

Acer :: TravelMate 2490
I want to upgrade the HDD of my TravelMate 2490 notebook but I can't find anything on ebay. Can I used other model's HDD as a replacement? What are the other models that are compatible with TravelMate 2490?
Acer :: TravelMate 530
I have just been given a TravelMate 530 2.2 cpu Lappy
Fine for all I need but I would love to upgrade the memory. I see it says it can only go up to 1 gig and that it has 256 as standard.
I see there is a slot under a cover on the back, but only 1 slot (Unless I'm not looking properly)
Can I just stick a 1 gig unit in this slot and all will be fine or is there some unusual method to upgrading the memory. Hope it's nothing like the old Dells

Acer :: 6935G, New CPU, Blue Screen
Upgraded my laptop to a T9400
It runs fine when plugged in, encoding video etc.... The issue is when the laptop is running from the battery, it'll just bluescreen within about 5 mins of unplugging it... every time without fail. I have the latest BIOS 1.13 installed.
I'm guessing it's because it's an engineering sample? Would formatting the PC be worth a shot? I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate at the moment.
Acer :: Gemstone Blue Aspire 8920g

Acer :: RAM Upgrade- Blue Screen
I have an Acer Aspire 3690 running Vista, which I bought a year ago. It came with one 512mb stick of RAM, which I coped with but was really pretty slow. Obviously. Anyway, I took it to a shop to get some more fitted about three weeks ago, they put in two 1gb sticks.
Ever since then I've been getting sporadic blue screen, when I never had a single one in the year I've had it.
Sometimes certain pieces of software seem to set it off (Deluge, and either Total Recorder or Skype, I haven't figured out which or if it's a combination yet) which I've been using the entire year with no problems. Sometimes it just seems to happen for no real reason.
And most annoyingly of all, it often happens on start up, it'll bluescreen and restart and eventually I'll get it to let me into Safe Mode, and from there I can restart properly and it'll let me into Vista proper.
Acer :: TravelMate 2420 Overheating
I bought a used Acer TravelMate 2420 laptop (WinXP, RAM 1 GM, hard disk 40 GB, Intel Celeron M processor 1,50 GHZ) and since the beginning it had overheating problems and also some issues with power management. And yes, I know it was a stupid thing to buy it, but knowing it doesn't help.
Now the problems:
1. Whatever I do, it keeps overheating, even if no programs are opened. The laptop's fan works very vaguely, and I can hardly hear any sound of it. At first it didn't trouble me much, as it was winter and it would still work, although heated up. I also bought an USB ventilation pad (2 fans), and it helped for some time. But now, when the air temperature is over 30 degrees (in the room), the laptop just "freezes" in the middle of work and stays like this for about 20 min, or just suddenly shuts down completely.
2. I can't turn it off if the power supply is on - I have to unplug it just before the computer shuts down, otherwise it keeps on restarting. Also I can't use it without a battery, as it doesn't turn off in any way (even pressing the power button for a long time doesn't help), and I have to unplug power supply (which ain't no good for computer).
What I already tried to do:
1. Re-installed Windows, installed updates.
2. Checked the computer with various antivirus and antimalware programs (Avira, AVG-free, Malwarebytes' Anti-malware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware).
3. Installed additional Acer utilities: Acer emPowering Framework, Acer ePerformance Management, Acer ePower Management - but they basically didn't let me change anything important (like the fan speed, for example). With PowerManager I changed the CPU speed to Medium, well, it helped a little bit, but the comp. is totally slow now (and still overheats) ... if I set the speed to High, it just turns off after about 10 minutes.
4. Instaled SpeedFan to speed up the fan - but it didn't detect any fan in the computer!
5. Dismantled the laptop (removed the hard disk, the keyboard) to see if the fan isn't clogged, but I still couldn't reach it. So I just used a vacuum-cleaner as much as I could reach, but of course it didn't change anything.
6. Oh and of course I disabled all the unnecessary programmes (by modifying msconfig -> startup).
7. Ran HDD diagnostics, S.M.A.R.T. report showed no problems.
I've read quite a lot now about these laptops, and seems like they all have this overheating problem, but it's usually solved by using a ventilating pad (which helped in my case a bit, but basically didn't solve the problem). I didn't found anybody having these power problems, so I guess maybe a previous user made some stupid modifications... I just don't know how to fix them now.
Acer :: Travelmate 5602 Screen
I uninstalled 2 programs and deleted shared files after the uninstall.
On reeboot of the computer my screen was pixellated and it was hard to read text.
I have tried the following to get the screen back to normal.
reload uninstalled programs
Installed video drivers
Contacted Acer who told me to put system back to factory defaults, which I did
Nothing has worked so far
I have set my screen size to 1024 * 768 which allows me to read text but the screen still doesn't look right.
I have plugged in an external monitor which there is no problem with.
Acer :: Travelmate 4404 Beeps

Acer :: Travelmate 5624 Does Not Cool
I have problems with the high temperature of my Travelmate 5624WSMI. It is too hot!
- I cannot hear any fan running (I do not know if I should, and I do not remember if I did when it worked properly).
- I read that it might be due to dust. For this reason I tried to clean it (them?) with a can of compressed air but with no success.
- I installed SpeedFun. I read this: GPU 51 °C (or more!); HDO 42 °C; Temp1 32 °C; Temp2 42 °C; Core0 46 °C; Core1 46 °C. As I understand, GPU is burning.
- I tried to open my notebook but without success. I do not how to do it.
Acer :: Travelmate 8571 Freezing
A week ago i bought an Acer Travelmate 8571 with Linus. I installed legal WinXP with SP3 and latest drivers/updates.
After start the computer freezes within 10-20 minutes independently on the running programs. To reboot it one has to use the Power button.
This is not the overheating: the ventilator works and the air temperature is cool. I guess, it can be either problem of the BIOS (v.1.02), which is not able to work with XP, or a wrong installation of the XP.
Does anyone have an idea on the source of the trouble? I would like to keep the notebook due to the advantages of extremely low noise production and long accumulator working time.
Acer :: TravelMate 4720 Overheating
why our TravelMate is overheating. Currently it is a year old and this has just started to occur.
Primarily this happens when it is plugged in. My initial reaction tells me that it is the battery causing this problem. But im not sure. Also, the fan runs often while it is plugged in too.
Acer :: Laptop (Travelmate 5730)
The charger works fine, when pluged into the laptop the light is orange, as soon as we press the power button to turn it on, the orange light goes off, if i press the power button and let go straight away, the light stays off for 5 seconds, if i hold the power button the light stays off for around 9-11 seconds, now the shop we went to says it's a connectivity problem, and i was looking around and i was thinking about the power jack (i'm not big on laptops, more of a desktop kind of guy, so if it doesn't have one lol at me!). Anyway, i'd love to know if anyone knew or had a way of knowing what my sisters problem is, as she'd like to sell this laptop, but needs to clean her HDD of school work and general stuff that she has on it before selling it, and would prefer it to be fully working before sending it away.
Acer :: Travelmate 2420 Heat
My daughter bought an Acer Travelmate 2420 (2428a) 2 years ago. Within a year we had to return it, due to heat problems. (It kept shutting down) The vendor told us that they had to clean the fan and the cooler... Now, a year later the problem is back... A strange thing is that the fan doesnt speed up at all.. it has never done it in fact,(It allways runs quiet) no matter how warm the notebook get... It just shuts down and we have to wait 10-15 mn before we can reboot the notebook... I installed SpeedFan, just to see if I could adjust the fan, but it just doesnt appear... I can read the temperature (71 on start, thats a lot for a Centrino...) the speed and the CPU charge... And thats it.The bios is up to date (Ver. 1.06)
Acer :: My Travelmate 2410 Not Charging
when i remove the batery the OS windows is see the batery is connecting without i connect it. and when i connect it,not charging olso the orange led in the front is flashing.

I perchased anew batery and olso i installed anew OS the same problem on laptop the new batery before connecting to my laptop i connect it to other one and it worked,when i connect it to my laptop then same problem i tray to connect it to other laptop but it failure.
Acer :: Travelmate 7530 Keeps Switching Itself
The main one is the laptop keeps switching itself [going to powersave HD off mode] off, I have acer epower uninstalled and am using Vista power settings, both set to always on.
I have run all updates etc and even updated USB drivers thinking that could be an issue having read it could cause this.
The second is that I am unable to change boot order in the setup bios, it shows boot order, but will allow no changes, which makes no sense at all! So am unable to boot from any CD!
am fed up of leaving PC working only to find task stopped as its gone to sleep mode!
On another note, the specs for the LT are:
# Processor - AMD Athlon X2 QL-60 / 1.9 GHz ( Dual-Core )
# RAM - 2 GB (installed) / 4 GB (max) - DDR2 SDRAM - 667 MHz ( 2 x 1 GB )
# Hard Drive - 250 GB - Serial ATA-150
# Operating System - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
# Screen - 17' TFT 1440 x 900 ( WXGA+ ) - 24-bit (16.7 million colours) - CrystalBrite
# Optical Drive - DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM - integrated
# Graphics - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200 - 256 MB
# Bluetooth - Yes
# Notebook Camera - Integrated
Am I right in thinking this could run 64 bit vista ok?
Acer :: TravelMate 2300 FAT Only
I was given an Acer TravelMate 2300 by someone who has a new one. It came with no guarantees and no recovery CD. It had working verison of XP Pro on it through SP2. I applied SP3 and several updates. It worked good until... I noticed that the C drive was formatted FAT32. So I thought it a good idea to move it to NTFS. Without checking, I fired in "convert c: /fs:ntfs". It rebooted and after a brief look at the Windows XP splash, it goes straight to a stop code x0000024 BSOD. There was nothing on the drive except for the OS so I was felt OK withjust reinstalling from my media.
I dragged out my copy of XP pro slipstreamed with SP2. Booted from CD, went through XP's native setup and detected an "unknown" partition where C used to be. I must've really slammed it. I chose to install to the unknown partition and XP offered to format it NTFS. I chose the thorough format option but it goes only to 24% and stops. The display still shows the progress bar, blue background etc. at 24%.
Since I don't have much experience with laptops, let me ask, is it possible that this laptop/drive ONLY formats to FAT or FAT32 and won't take an NTFS volume? If it will, are there any ideas out there how to apply and NTFS format so I can get this cute little laptop back to a usable state?
Acer :: Travelmate 2303Lci How To Use New Battery?

Acer :: Travelmate 4072LCi NIC
my friend has this laptop running Windows XP.
Every time I restart, the network card is disabled by default.
On very few occasions, the network card disables itself when surfing the internet.
Disabling other network cards
Going to Device Manager, NIC, Untick "Allow the computer to turn off..."
Scan for malware/viruses using AVG 8.0
Still it doesn't work!
Acer :: Travelmate 5710 SATA
I just got a 5710 with WinVista installed. I am trying to install win xp but there's a problem recognizing the sata disk on xp setup. From Acer official download page I got the F6 SATA HDD-Floppy disk driver, I generated the fdd driver disk, I installed it with F6 from the initila win xp screen but I still have problem recognizing the disk from the system.
I tried to install win xp from a usb hdd but it simply does not boot at all.
Acer :: Travelmate 4202 WMLi
Its an Acer 4202WLMi
My problem (I assume) is related to the on board graphics card. - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
Running Windows XP Pro (SP3 fully updated)
My problem is this:
I'll explain this in words if the image is not viewable. Basically despite the laptop being a wide screen, the system detects the screen as a 'Digital Flat Panel' with resolution options of 800x600 or 1024x768. So I am left with a black bar down on the right handside as well as a blurred task bar.
I was worried the screen was failing, but even the black section is still backlit made me assume this wasn't the case.
I initially tried updating the drivers to the lastest version etc.
This did not solve the problem, so I reinstalled the old ones. To my suprise on the reboot the laptop started functioning correctly again.
Unfortantly this wasn't a permanent fix, as upon the next restart the problem reoccured, doing the above appeared to fix the problem again.
Becoming sick of having to do this I figured a full install might rid me of this problem, but it appears its not just windows related as even the bios screen is affected by the same issue. Even after a full format even the initial windows pre-install setup phase was still displaying the same problems.
Now reinstalled windows again fully up to date (I am now running on XP Media Center - as its the only setup CD I have to hand.) Its essentially still XP Pro though.
I'm at a dead end what else to do.
Screenshots as shown below are showing the computer running just as if it was on a standard ratio screen (i.e. not wide) but also without blur, which again leads me to think screen)
But I'm confused as the problem could previously be resolved by doing the process mentioned before, this was functioning fine (didn't reboot for 3 weeks).
I wondered if anyone had any ideas on what I could do, as I have currently no rebooted the machine in 4 weeks since it sucessfully booted correctly (screen is 100% fine so long as I don't reboot it!).
Acer :: Chash On Travelmate 6003lcimotherboard
I have a crashed acer travelmate 6003lci, the problem has been pointed out as motherboard crash. I would like to buy a new motherboard or another crashed travelmate whose problem is not the motherboard. Even if you are not interested, I'd like at least to know what is the brand and possibly other details about the motherboard, its compatibility (or the compatibility of other motherboards with this model), so that I can look for it in Internet or somewhere else.
Acer :: Travelmate 3262 Dead
i have an acer travelmate 3262, it crashed a week ago, it loads windows (XP) normally, then when the word "welcome" appears, it gives me an error message about not being able to read, write, flush something related to the registry (i know i sound retarded but i really don't understand the message) then it keeps restarting, and checking all the drives for problems, then the error message, then restarts again !
i tried to use the safe mode but it freezes before opening it (and restars again)
i tried to reinstall windows, but it doesn't seem to recognize the bootable CDs!! it doesn't recognize the acer recovery CD either :S
i tried using the alt+F10 method to restore the C drive, but still, it doesn't recognize it either !
Acer :: Travelmate Eating Batteries
The battery on my Acer Travelmate 2310 has gradually been getting worse over time.
It got down to lasting just 2 minutes on the battery after a full charge.
Then one day it wouldn't start at all.
I bought a new battery, charged it overnight and it semmed to work ok until the battery ran out again.
I have put it on charge, but it seems dead again.
When I hit the power button the battery light just flashes.
Has it eaten another battery, or is there anything else that could cause this problem?
Acer :: TravelMate 5530 Sound
i just got my acer tm 5530.The customer's advertise said:it comes without any operation system,but when i push'd the ON button,Vista home premium started to install "himself" automatically without any CD(imho shadow patrition).So Vista installed,everything was fine,but hey i wanted to install xp,so i was bully and i just formatted the whole pc and put xp sp 2 to him. Every kind of driver install went on a succesfull way,except sound card driver.There are no sound at all,device manager dont even found my soundcard,i tried the drivers from acer's webpage and drivers from realtek webpage too.
Acer :: Travelmate 4070 Will Not Boot
I have an acer Travelmate 4070 that will not boot. It is out of warranty so I am trying to trouble shoot. When I turn on the power the cpu fan starts and the harddrive seems to start, then the fan stops and no more sounds from the hard drive. The harddrive light stays on. Does anyone know where to start. I am guessing it is the motherboard, but could just be the hard drive.
