I just picked up a used D610 and it only has 1GB of RAM. I would like to upgrade it to at least 2GB but i'm not sure what speed i need.
Dell has the memory listed as "Dual In-line Memory Module 512MB, 533, 64X64, 8K, 200" but i'm not sure what this translate to over at Newegg?
Last question, is it possible to upgrade to 2GB RAM using FASTER RAM?
Will this work?

There are SSD compatible with the XPS 15z? I refer to the XPS with Intel i5 processor(2.30 GHz). If yes, what do you recommend?

i.e D620 -> D820 etc.
I am looking into replacing a bad touchpad on a D820, I have found some deals on the touch-pads for other models specifically using a D830 for the D820 (I know the Bottom Base,
Motherboard, etc are not compatible but the touch-pads look identical from photos, wondering if they will mount up properly.)
So I'm a bit slow when it comes to new technology, and I'm about to buy my first LCD tv. I have a Sony Vaio SZ 650N, and I want to know if it will hook up to a Sony Bravia KDL22L4000 22 inch television. I don't have an HDMI port, but I do have, obviously, a VGA

The model number of the XPS1710 keyboard is NSK-D5D01
part number is 9J.N6782.D01
The model number of the E1505 keyboard I have is NSK-D5A01

They both look like they have the same port which hooks up to the motherboard.
The reason why I'm here is the Inspiron 9400. I bought this Notebook assuming that it'll be DX10 compatible. However, I recently discovered that the GF 7k series does not support DX10. That's a kinda annoying situation, considering that DX10 was one of the reasons due to which I decided to buy such an expensive laptop.
Well, now I don't have any clue whether it is possible, but I'm looking at exchanging my video card. I was reading somewhere that those Dells are quite handy when it comes to exchanging components. Unfortunately, I have hardly any experience in such a profession and exchanging a video card seems to me a major intervention.
I really would like to know whether there are any video cards available for laptops that will support DX10, and if that is the case, whether they are attainable at a reasonable cost.
I bought an Intel QX9300 online for my upcoming Alienware m17x. When I tested the QX9300 in a Dell Inspiron 1420 today, the system fail to boot into bios.
Does anyone know if Inspiron 1420 motherboard support qx9300 or not? I am trying to figure out if I received a DOA chip or not.
I'm attempting to upgrade my wife's 9400/e1705 but it's been so long since I gave a damn about mobile CPU's that I've forgotten which ones will fit and which ones won't.
I know she has a core solo 1.66 yonah, and I know it can fit certain T1** and T2**, and I know there's a screaming fast one out there, but I don't want to buy the wrong thing.
Thinking of buying a 4GB SDHC card for my camera.
Does anyone know if this can be read by the SD reader on my Sony FZ31S? Its about 8 months old
I've did something wrong with my Hard disk, and deleted my Recovery Partition . Now I wanted to do a clean install of vista, and then use my Recovery Disks to restore my C drive.
But now when I want to use this option, it says:
Given the following hardware of the Sony VAIO X:
Quote:
CPU ~ 2.0-GHz Intel Atom Z550
RAM ~ 2GB-4GB (apparently you can add on another 2GB according to laptopmag)
HDD ~ 128GB SSD
NATIVE RES ~ 1366x768
GFX ~ INTEL GMA 500 w/ 762MB
OS ~ Windows 7 Premium (32-bit)
I don't own a Sony VAIO X, yet, but I would just like to compile a compatible/playable game list for future reference.
If any owners would like to confirm/deny compatibility with the games or would like to add a game, I would appreciate if you send me a PM or post here!

i have an 11.1" screen tx series, but the screen is cracked.
i have checked on various site, ebay store, and the cheapest i can get an oem replacement is around $300.
i am just wondering is it possible i can just buy any 11.1" netbook, and use its screen on the sony machine? since the netbook costs about the same as the lcd screen, and i can use the other parts too.
My hard drive just failed on my pavilion dv2700. I was told I could upgrade from a 5400rpm drive to a 7200rpm. Is this true? And what hard drives do you recommend?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have tried looking at Dell's webpage, but couldn't find any lists over compatible docking stations. Not to mention that when trying to "buy" another identical computer dockings are never mentioned in the "Buy accessories for your Dell" subpage. I have seen a few cheap, used docking stations on the web, but I don't know if they will work. This is the one I can get really cheap:
Would that work on my Preceision M6500? It's for my second and third office (a.k.a. my wife's pet shop and our cabin by the sea), so I need two dockings. And this way I can save 80 % of the cost!
For some stupid reason the M6500 has no SPDIF output, and I see that there is one on this docking. But I don't care if that works or not, I only use SPDIF at home, and I have an USB sound card with SPDIF there.
Is anyone running the Corsair X256 SSD with an E6400 without any problems?
I recently replaced my stock drive with the X256 SSD (love the speed) Everything worked beautifully for three day, on the fourth... "No bootable devices found, please reseat your hard drive" message appears at morning boot.
I reseat the drive and boots fine. Next day, same thing... I found myself reseating the drive every morning multiple reseats at times. Appears to happen every morning and when resuming from sleep.
I have the latest drives, chipset, BIOS, you name it. I posted on Crosair's Forum and was advised to disable sleep mode. I did and problem still occurs. Today Dell sent out a tech to replace my motherboard, I guess I'll know tonight or tomorrow if the cause was the Mobo.
Anyone successfully running an SSD on their system?
Does anyone know which screens/laptops are compatible?
If there is a large range of screens that will fit I will most likely just buy a broken laptop with a good screen to fix it.
The service tag is 9TCL14J
I'm going RAID 0 with my new 1730, and will be going 2 X 160GB in RAID 0.
The question is will windows defrag tool, know how to properly handle the 1/2 and 1/2 file fragments on both drives?
I would assume that it would, by simply moving a fragment and it's assosiated 1/2 on the other drive to the same spot on both disks? Or would it not?
If it's not, what defrag tools are RAID 0 compatible?
A serious question when you consider VISTA's "advanced" or more correctly "complicated" page/swap file use and RAID 0. The way I see it, is under defragmentation a raid configuration could be realy hurt by fragmentation as you effectively double the normal rate of fragmentation in a RAID configuration.
I would like to install a internal cdma/wimax ... EVDO Rev A. yadayada and would like to use Clear 4g network ...and since Intel card's are incompatible with the Studio XPS 1340 I have no choice but to use this ... don't like the usb modems
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy motherboard just crashed on me and I need to get a replacement for it and would like to catch two flies with one hit and upgrade my cpu while I`m at it but the d820 motherboard doesn`t support the better newer ones and i feel the d820 computer i own is still perfect for my needs.
Therefore I was thinking if the d830 motherboard has the same fit as the prior since after some looking into it they look very much alike but it would kinda suck if it didn`t fit.

I have a XPS M1330 and am thinking of getting a Dell SP2309 ultra widescreen monitor with a resolution of 2048x1152.
Dell SP2309
However, am I right in thinking that the Geforce 8400 that comes with the M1330 won't be able to handle this resolution?
Does the XPS M1330 have a maximum resolution of 1920x1200 when connecting to an external display via HDMI?
How would the laptop handle such a monitor?
When I try to price a Studio 14 on the Dell.com website, I get the following error when I match the, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 512MB, with an i7 processor (i.e. i7-720QM).
"The Video Card is not compatible with the Quad Core Processor selected, please update one of the selections."
I've tried google-ing this but nothing has turned up.
I had originally planned on just building a seperate desktop, but had recieved some interesting offers on here and seen some things on ebay that made me reconsider breathing a bit more life into this laptop.
I have an older Inspiron 9300, that originally came with a 6800go (256mb). What other cards can I put in it that will a) fit and b) perform well, without c) needing major modifications (new battery, etc, etc)?
I know the 6800go will, and the x300, but what about the 7300go that was put in the e1505s and Inspiron 6400s a generation later? Do the heatsinks and stuff line up still, or are they the wrong size?
Any advice or links would be appreciated. Also, if someone has a part they'd like to sell, or links to places they can be found for cheap, feel free to hit me up in-thread with those as well.
I chose the Intel WiFi 5300 over the WiFi 5100 as I understand it is the better card. However, a few hours later I received an email telling me my order was cancelled because the 5300 was 'unavailable'.
I contacted Dell chat this morning, and was told that the part was available but was incompatible with my processor choice. Apparently the 5300 is a Centrino 2 part, and is only compatible with a Centrino 2 processor. I thought the T9400 was a Centrino 2 processor?
If it's true that the parts are incompatible should I go with the T9400/WiFi 5100 or the P8400/WiFi 5300? The Dell chat guy told me that these were the only compatible configurations. If I try to order T9400/5300 again will my order be cancelled again - anyone else tried this?
