Nov 1, 2008I was wondering how far out an installed SD/SDHC card sticks out of the slot on the Mini 9? It seems a common thing for people to buy a big, fast card and leave it in there for permanent additional storage. I've got one on order thanks to all the fun with the Dell Outlet this week (missed the 15% off deal but managed to score a 512/16GB with no OS (have spare XP Pro, Vista, and Ubuntu I'm going to try) for only $329).
I ordered a 2GB stick of G.Skill 4-4-4-12 from Newegg but haven't yet picked up an SD card - I had one in my fiancée's e1505 but in her taking it places it apparently got knocked out, but since that was just for ReadyBoost, no big deal. However if I have an 8GB+ SDHC card in my Mini 9 I don't want it disappearing for obvious reasons.

Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: X240 - Compatible SSD For WWAN Slot
Jul 7, 2014I want to install an additional M.2 SSD to my X240. As far as I know, X240 has three M.2 port:
 - One single side M.2 for wireless card
 - One single side M.2 42 mm for WWAN (3G card). Mine is empty in this slot.
 - One double side M.2 for cache drive.
For M.2 cache drive, I dont know if my machine has it. I dont have smart card reader module either.
But I do have the single M.2 42 mm.
I want to buy a SSD:Â MyDigitalSSD Super Boot Drive 42mm SATA III (6G) M.2 2242 NGFF SSD (128GB (120GB)) But it is double side (B and M key).
tell me if I can install it to M.2 slot of WWAN module?

I have been thinking about returning the unit in exchange for one with a larger SSD due to the drives lower capacity.
After reformatting and installing win7 Ultimate Office 2007, and some other things I deem as required Iam left with approximately 76 GB this includes BFBC2.
I have a few more games and some benchmark tools I like to install etc.
I would like to hear a few opinions on SD Capacity (SDHC) or Sony memory cards as an alternative for additional storage rather than returning it for the higher capacity SSD models and getting nailed with a 15% restock fees.
Do SD cards or the Sony mem Stocks have any short comings?
Sony :: Vaio VGN-FZ18M Driver For Geforce 8400M GT Is Not Compatible
Dec 30, 2009I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ18M Laptop (Running Vista Home Premium) which I would like to update to Windows 7 Ultimate.
On running MS compatibility Checker it points out that the Driver for Geforce 8400M GT is not compatible.
When I try to find a new driver via NVIDIA I keep being referred to Sony who seem to have washed their hands of the problem See reply message below.
Can you point me at a driver that will work with Windows 7 or has anyone updated to Windows 7 with this Geforce 8400M GT driver and had any success.
I seem to be going round in circles trying to find a solution.
i.e. NVIDIA say go to Sony and SONY say go to NVIDIA
I note from searching the net that there are many people out there with Vaio FZ models having similar problems and that Sony seem to have created upgrades for quiet a number of their models but have stated “Please note that your computer is not eligible for the Upgrade to Windows 7.”
This I find disgraceful for a Company to completely wash its hands of supporting a machine that is barely 2 years old and the fact the New OS from MS is seen as an industry standard which they will be delivering in future. They refer to it as 3rd Party Software which their reply would infer they are not going to support in their machines. I wonder if that applies to their latest models?
Sony :: SZ Memory Card Reader VGP-MCA20 Can't Read My SD Cards
Mar 9, 2009Whenever I insert an SD card or Sony Memory Stick in the memory card reader (VGP-MCA20) of my SZ, the computer doesn't recognize it. If I double click on the removable drive, it hangs the computer. I tried 16MB and 512MB SD Cards and 16MB Sony Memory Stick. All of them don't work. I tried them with my FW notebook and they work fine. So, it is not the media problem.
I tried to restore from Recovery DVD with Windows XP, install with Windows Vista and I still have the same problem.

Apr 28, 2009I'm trying to use a 8GB SDHC card on my M1530, the card is "detected" after a little while of being connected. It won't read the size nor the format but it'll say that it does need formatting. I can connect the card to my Toshiba laptop and it'll read just fine and even format properly.
I'm using Vista Ultimate / Windows 7 RC1 (doesn't work on both). I tried to download the XP hotfix but that won't install.

My computer does recognize it and opens, but the card sticks out of the computer. I thought the card should be invisible, my experience in using cards for other devices. Is this norma.? May 7, 2009I rely heavily on SDHC cards and use the built in card reader heavily in my Studio 1537.
I just bought a new Studio XPS 16 and it won't read my SDHC cards. I chatted with Dell last night and they took control of my system remotely.. They couldn't fix it, and finally said "The Studio XPS 16 does not support SDHC, you'll have to use regular SD"
I just find this hard to believe on a new, so called "State of the art system"
I also have a Studio 15 (1537) and SDHC works perfectly.
After fighting with several "Techs" and their "Supervisors" I returned the system and bought another..... AND, what do you know... I was right....It does support SDHC!!

Nov 27, 2009From what I've read, it *should* work, but the computer does not recognize a 32GB SDHC card that reads fine on other computers and my PDA.
I've installed the latest driver available from Dell and the XP hotfix, restarted the computer, but whenever I try, I get a "device cannot start" error in the device manager.
A regular 2GB SD card reads fine.
