View 4 RepliesI'm trying to use a 8GB SDHC card on my M1530, the card is "detected" after a little while of being connected. It won't read the size nor the format but it'll say that it does need formatting. I can connect the card to my Toshiba laptop and it'll read just fine and even format properly.
I'm using Vista Ultimate / Windows 7 RC1 (doesn't work on both). I tried to download the XP hotfix but that won't install.
I can't run my 8GB SDHC card on the built-in card reader on my M4400.
Current OS is windows xp x64.
Is there an update for this issue?
One more thing is where to buy a new motherboard for the same
but the one include the nVIDIA 1700M?
I'm looking to upgrade mine, is it expensive?
I have a new Dell 10 Netbook and purchased a Sandisc 16 GB Card for netbooks. The card does not enter fully into the memory expansion slot. My computer does recognize it and opens, but the card sticks out of the computer. I thought the card should be invisible, my experience in using cards for other devices. Is this norma.? I don't want to force the card.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI rely heavily on SDHC cards and use the built in card reader heavily in my Studio 1537.
I just bought a new Studio XPS 16 and it won't read my SDHC cards. I chatted with Dell last night and they took control of my system remotely.. They couldn't fix it, and finally said "The Studio XPS 16 does not support SDHC, you'll have to use regular SD"
I just find this hard to believe on a new, so called "State of the art system"
I also have a Studio 15 (1537) and SDHC works perfectly.
After fighting with several "Techs" and their "Supervisors" I returned the system and bought another..... AND, what do you know... I was right....It does support SDHC!!
From what I've read, it *should* work, but the computer does not recognize a 32GB SDHC card that reads fine on other computers and my PDA.
I've installed the latest driver available from Dell and the XP hotfix, restarted the computer, but whenever I try, I get a "device cannot start" error in the device manager.
A regular 2GB SD card reads fine.
I just bought a new 64 bit Studio XPS and it will not recognize any of my SDHC cards using the built in card reader, or Western Digital 250gb USB passport.
It will recognize my USB Thumbdrives (8gb)
I rely heavily on SDHC cards.
Each time i plug one in, it asks me to format, but it won't actually format.
I was wondering how far out an installed SD/SDHC card sticks out of the slot on the Mini 9? It seems a common thing for people to buy a big, fast card and leave it in there for permanent additional storage. I've got one on order thanks to all the fun with the Dell Outlet this week (missed the 15% off deal but managed to score a 512/16GB with no OS (have spare XP Pro, Vista, and Ubuntu I'm going to try) for only $329).
I ordered a 2GB stick of G.Skill 4-4-4-12 from Newegg but haven't yet picked up an SD card - I had one in my fiancée's e1505 but in her taking it places it apparently got knocked out, but since that was just for ReadyBoost, no big deal. However if I have an 8GB+ SDHC card in my Mini 9 I don't want it disappearing for obvious reasons.
xps 1730 ok with sd, but sdhc cl10 doesn't upload, had to connect with usb to camera.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need some help:
1) I want to know if anybody is using an SDHC card as a readyboost drive
2) What are the maximum SDHC specs that can be utilized by the computer (both size and class), i.e., what is the maximum size and speed supported by the reader.
If am thinking of buying this card for readyboost (I plan to have it always in the slot): ...
if i can get my Card reader built in to the ACER 5630 to read SDHC cards? surely it could be sorted with a driver update? real pain in the ass if no work around

Does anyone know if this can be read by the SD reader on my Sony FZ31S? Its about 8 months old
High capacity SD cards of 4 GB or 8 GB (or even higher) has been in the market for some time. Can Sony Vaio TT read these high capacity cards without an adapter?
View 10 Replies View Relatedhow to make the 4GB SD Card works? I tried the sd card on my other computer and has no problem. I searched the Internet, it seems that the vaio has a limitation up to 2GB only.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have X1 Carbon Type 3443. Is there a way to use scandisk micro SDHC card? In past (other laptops), I was able to use USB to read them.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedI performed a windows 7 clean install on my vaio (VPCEB11FX).
After that i installed the drivers properly. In Device manager i am able to see the MMC card reader and SD reader with respective path letters.
But in when i open my computer only dvd drive showing there
why when i insert a new SD card that my Dell Inspiron 1501 freezes and i have to restart, the computer is actually my parents and i was cleaning up the computer for them. When i insert the card into the side of the computer it locks up and i reboot i can't find anything on the net.

If it worth installing, I need to install both Dell Security Manager and the driver?
I've been trying to find some software to make use of the smartcard reader in my M4400.
I've searched a lot on Google but I can't find any applications, only drivers. Is there any software that would let me view the data from the chip on my debit cards, credit cards and other smartcards?
I don't want to do anything productive with it, but just to see what it's capable of and what data is stored on the cards.
In November, Dell will roll out the full Latitude ON system, which will be built into the Latitude notebooks and also offered as a low-cost mini-PCI upgrade to models issued with the reader.
What does a mini-PCI upgrade entail? Is that hardware or a downloadable software upgrade?
I highly recommend the standalone desktop version by Upek.
The cheapest I could find was buy.com ($41.08 with 5% off coupon available everywhere).

Mine came with the 5.8.2 version of their software, but the build date of the one posted in the "Upek" thread was a bit higher, so I used that one... ((not so) New Upek Fingerprint Reader Driver)
The reader operates exactly the same way as the one in the laptop (duh? same brand and same software).
If you have encrypted files from your laptop, you can open them on your desktop and vice versa...
i have been trying to figure this out for a week with no luck and even no luck through dell.
I have a new latitude e6400, i originally set my fingerprint, then decided to clean install vista 64 bit, after tons of problems, i then abandoned the effort. Went back to the original vista business 32 bit, however, everytime i turn on my computer, during pre-boot it asks me to scan my finger to get access to my computer, i just want to disable it, but it will not let me, i went into security setting in dell control point, and in that funky embassy software, i cannot find a way to disable the finger print reader, i dont want to uninstall just disable, any insights?
Anyone else having problems with the SD card reader?
Everytime i plug in an SD card the system Blue Screen's on me. This is running XP. So far iv'e tried these 2 versions of drivers..
v3.54.05
and
v3.51.01
one thing, During trying different drivers I once plugged in my SD card while no drivers were installed, the system still BlueScreened on me.
The first thing I did when getting the system was wipe-off Vista. I dont know if this Ricoh card reader works or not in Vista, but im starting to wonder if I have some sort of hardware problem.
I just received my E6400 from Dell today and setup the fingerprint reader. I noticed it only works when I boot up the notebook and then I scan to get to the windows login screen.
I was wondering If I can set it up so that I scan to login to windows rather than typing in a password. I was also wondering If I could configure it to login to websites for things such as email since I know you can do that with Windows Fingerprint Reader.
I recently saw that my M1710 has an card reader...
Can I use it for reading mijn debit/creadit cards for online banking,... or not?
I got an E4300 through work and set up the fingerprint reader at the request of my IT department, but I hate this stupid thing. It never works and I always have to manually override it.
I asked them to take it off, but it's "firm policy" for our laptops to have the reader turned on.
Anyone know how to turn it off? It's controlled through Dell ControlPoint and maybe a proprietary program we have.
I get an error, just says Error 15 when I try to boot using Latitude ON. Anyone else have this problem?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI put in my SDHC card from my camera and it does not read or see the card.
I have Vista Premium 32bit.
Is there are weird firmware I have to get?
I just updated to Firefox 3.5 today and much to my dismay it has disabled the add-on for my fingerprint reader to log into things in Firefox on my XPS M1530.
Anyone have any idea on a workaround or an updated add-on?
I have tried enrolling many different fingers but the same message is returned. When I installled the driver R173506, I was presented with 4 folders ie x.86vista and x.64vista.
Plus two XP folders. I tried to install from the 64 but an error message was returned.
I eventually installed the drivers from the 86 folder. Just wondering if this is correct? The call centre said I should not be presented with these folder options.
