I bought a VGN a couple of months ago in Japan, but I need the drivers in english because i will like to install vista Ultimate on the machine. everywhere I searched, only japanese drivers were available. I want the language in English, not in japanses as i am currently working with. It came with Home Premium, i need drivers for the camera, the bluetooth, the geforce 8400GT.
i am about to move to canada from ireland for one year and want to bring my sony vaio laptop (VGN CR21/L) with me.....does anyone know if i'll need to bring a voltage converter with me or if i can just plug into the plug adapter and go?
I was installing something and my laptop crashed. Now since I have the voltages set too low. I can't get myself back into windows. How can I reset the voltage during bootup?
i heard that there are 2 types of sony, one made in japan and another one made in usa . is this true or what ? is there sony z series made in japan and another one made in usa ?and if yes, then what is the difference between the sony z series japan version and the sony z series usa version ?
We just did a clean install of Leopard and authorized the computer and all that, you know sign in the account in iTunes and all...
Anyways, my Dad has this list of purchased apps in his "purchase history". However, when clicking "Check for available downloads" iTunes reports that all the apps have been downloaded.
And no, my dad doesn't have them on his iPhone anymore because it's a jailbroken one and I had to wipe out everything and make it new again.
How do I re-download all his apps (that he bought) from iTunes? and by the way, there's no "Applications" in his sidebar in iTunes, because he has none on his HDD.
So I'm a bit slow when it comes to new technology, and I'm about to buy my first LCD tv. I have a Sony Vaio SZ 650N, and I want to know if it will hook up to a Sony Bravia KDL22L4000 22 inch television. I don't have an HDMI port, but I do have, obviously, a VGA
I've did something wrong with my Hard disk, and deleted my Recovery Partition . Now I wanted to do a clean install of vista, and then use my Recovery Disks to restore my C drive.
CPU ~ 2.0-GHz Intel Atom Z550 RAM ~ 2GB-4GB (apparently you can add on another 2GB according to laptopmag) HDD ~ 128GB SSD NATIVE RES ~ 1366x768 GFX ~ INTEL GMA 500 w/ 762MB OS ~ Windows 7 Premium (32-bit)
I don't own a Sony VAIO X, yet, but I would just like to compile a compatible/playable game list for future reference.
If any owners would like to confirm/deny compatibility with the games or would like to add a game, I would appreciate if you send me a PM or post here!
i have an 11.1" screen tx series, but the screen is cracked.
i have checked on various site, ebay store, and the cheapest i can get an oem replacement is around $300.
i am just wondering is it possible i can just buy any 11.1" netbook, and use its screen on the sony machine? since the netbook costs about the same as the lcd screen, and i can use the other parts too.
so it looks like the SR has been discontinued and there is a Best Buy exclusive called the S. Is the S or another similar model going to be available through the Sony site and if so when? I called them in January and they said the S would be available shortly but I've only seen it through best buy. I ask because I'd like to custom order the specs through sony and also get a different color.
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ18M Laptop (Running Vista Home Premium) which I would like to update to Windows 7 Ultimate.
On running MS compatibility Checker it points out that the Driver for Geforce 8400M GT is not compatible.
When I try to find a new driver via NVIDIA I keep being referred to Sony who seem to have washed their hands of the problem See reply message below.
Can you point me at a driver that will work with Windows 7 or has anyone updated to Windows 7 with this Geforce 8400M GT driver and had any success.
I seem to be going round in circles trying to find a solution.
i.e. NVIDIA say go to Sony and SONY say go to NVIDIA
I note from searching the net that there are many people out there with Vaio FZ models having similar problems and that Sony seem to have created upgrades for quiet a number of their models but have stated “Please note that your computer is not eligible for the Upgrade to Windows 7.”
This I find disgraceful for a Company to completely wash its hands of supporting a machine that is barely 2 years old and the fact the New OS from MS is seen as an industry standard which they will be delivering in future. They refer to it as 3rd Party Software which their reply would infer they are not going to support in their machines. I wonder if that applies to their latest models?
I currently work work with an HP laptop that connects to a docking station. I have used several Dell machines that work this way as well. I would like to find a Sony laptop that has a dedicated video card (256Mb to 512MB) that I can connect to two monitors via docking station at home.
Ive done some searching and cant seem to find what models have docking capabilities and which don't.
thru HP tech support tried to recover my notebook with no success. instructed to purchase recovery dvd's (they don't offer a usb flash option and I have no internal dvd). they told me to find an external drive so I purchased an HP. they told me to:  - restart my machine with dvd#1 in place and tap F9 to get to boot device order to USB CD/DVD ROM drive - windows starts loading files - I can hear the writer spinning up - recieve an error "boot disc cannot be found", press any key to continue - windows starts loading files and atempts to start - restoration incomplete, hit retry - cycle repeats  HP support said to tap any key as window tries to load - no luck  When I get to the HP Recovery Manager - I've tried System Recovery and Minimized Image recovery - same results  My question is - can my system load from the external DVD drive if it was never activated (ie drivers) thru windows? Can it be done outside of windows? Seems like it can't read from the disc  Can my recovery discs be copied/transferred to a USB flash drive to avoid the external drive completely?
I would hope that Sony will consider a refresh with both the new Core I7 mobile cpu and a higher end video card. The competition is already lining up with just these items.
I recently purchased a Sony SR590, and while I love it, I'm personally VERY susceptible to fan noise.. thus I find problems with being able to hear the fan run constantly. The fan seems to turn on, as soon as I open skype and windows media player...
I recently discovered Sony's 'silent mode' function.. and it seems to cut the fan noise level down. What's the difference between performance mode and silent mode? Do you suppose it's alright for me to keep on silent mode, for my state of sanity (literally)?
From time to time, I run Lightroom CS2, which seems to be my most CPU intensive program... otherwise I usually just have a few internet tabs open, windows media player, and a few chat windows.
Sony VAIO product manager, Xavier Lauwaert, addressed the issue on the Windows Partner blog. His post [answers] to a specific comment about the lack of VT capability provides an astonishing explanation and fix roadmap:
It's great that Sony are "looking forward to leveraging [Windows 7] on their platforms." However some of their recent laptops are unable to leverage all the features of Windows 7.
Sony's decision to disable Virtualization Technology on the Intel chips on their high-end notebooks makes little sense when you consider that these machines are targeted at business consumers. It was also annoying to find this out _after_ I had bought the machine, since none of the pre-sales literature mentioned it.
Even more so when you realise that Windows 7 will include a virtual Windows XP installation to provide backwards compatibility. This will run with impaired performance on any Sony laptop where VT has been disabled. I would be interested to know what the Windows 7 team think about Sony crippling their customer’s ability to use their carefully constructed backwards compatibility feature?..........
looking to push my overclock past 700mhz now since my gpu is going to be getting a custom fan and copper heatsink. Whilst experimenting I found that past 700 the temperature no longer matters, the voltage simply isn't high enough. But I don't know of any software way to change this... Anyway I can get it above the 1.32V for the gpu? looking at maybe 1.38-1.4. Besides that if temperature even became an issue I'd experiment with liquid nitrogen, which being a chem student I can get pretty easily . It's a lot of fun to play with.
I have bought a Vaio VGN-Z21XN/B laptop. I have installed Windows Server 2008 64-bit on it, but I would like to inform me how to enable Virtualization.
Has anyone tried enabling Virtualization on Z series?
UPDATE- 19th July
How to enable VT-X on a Z laptop see discussion from post 7# on Use at your own risk [url]
I just bought a Targus bag for my Sony Vaio, and one of the features of the bag is a magnetic flap that closes. Inside the bag has pockets where I store my portable harddrive. The magnetic button is right above my harddrive, so I'm a little concerned if this is going to be a problem or not.
I'll be moving to South America in a few weeks and I want to know if I can use my HP DV6700t there. The voltage in South America is 240 and I don't know if I could fry my laptop if I use it there or if I'd need an plug adapter or a converter.
i have a dell vostro 3500i think my usb ports does not receive enough voltage because sometimes my usb ports does not work and there is no software problem i checked it how could i check that?
I just installed two new memory modules (4 GB each) but my laptop only recognizes one of them. I've tried researching how to change the RAM voltage in BIOS to see if that will allow the laptop to recognize both memory modules but can't find out how to do so. Â How to change the RAM voltage in BIOS (specifically from 1.5V to 1.6V).
I have problem with High CPU Frequency and Voltage when set on High Preformance, frequency is over 3,2 GHZ, and Voltage is 20+ Wat, even if CPU usage is from 0 to 10 %.
I have purchased two laptops here in the US which are the HP Envy Touchsmart (model no. m6-n015dx) and HP Pavilion (model no. 17-f115dx). I will be taking these to be used in Ireland (Europe) and am just enquiring whether these laptops have built-in internal voltage converters to deal with the eextra voltage. Â I have picked up two Irish plugs to run into the charger adapter/coonverter (not sure exactly what it is called)
First post here... Here's the deal, my 600m won't charge the battery anymore and will not run off of the power cord.
The power cord is showing 19.5v which is correct.
The back of the power adapter jack on the mobo is showing about 3.5v when plugged in and the two outside pins that charge the battery are only showing about 0.02v. Is this normal voltage or do you think the mobo broken?
I'm not really sure which of the battery charging pins to check the voltage from and can't find a diagram of it anywhere.
