Lenovo Y570 P/Y/Z Series :: Graphic Cards Usage
May 21, 2014I have reinstalled the drivers for the Nvidia card and now I no longer see the icon in "hidden" icons of the bar, that showed which programs are using this card.

Excellent little laptop, but i´m wondering about a thing.
Under device manager --> display adapters, theres is two graphicscard. But there should only be one in the machine?
The two graphicscard in question is:
- AMD Radeon HD 8330
- AMD Radeon HD 8570M

AMD A4-5000 quadcore 1,5 ghz.
AMD Radeon HD 8570M
8 GB DDR3 ram

it should only be the AMD radeon 8570M with 1 gb dedicated memory.Furthermore severeal hardware info programs shows the same two graphics card, but only 8330 has temperature info, along with other informations.
Lenovo ThinkPad E420 11e E/Edge :: Cannot Switch Graphic Cards
Aug 19, 2013i just updated my drives for AMD Radeon HD6630M with new beta2 catalyst but now i cant switch graphic cards. I tried to go into CCC - Method switchable graphics selected Manualy switch GPU pressed apply and nothing happend. Atleast i tried to uninstal this CCC isntal the old one and tried again. Problem remains and now im sad about this becouse my games are now useless . I can just select which GPU i want for aplications but its bad cause my fps dropped. I just realized before windows score with randomly switching cards for aplications is just 6,3 for games and 4,9 for other stuff. Before i have 6,7 for both becouse i selected the AMD GPU FOREVER.

With normal use such as internet browsing, facebook, e-mail, etc. there is no problem. However I often use my computer to game stuff like Don't Starve, League, CSGO, etc. So I'm thinking the problems is something to due with heat.

Sep 19, 2013The fan on my IdeaPad Y570 has suddenly stopped switching on. It does not spin regardless of temperature, and as a result, temperatures reach 90C+. The dedusting mode works fine, the fan spins up as expected for the cycle, and sounds normal. So the fan is not physically broken or clogged. I have also installed 3rd party software CPUID HWMonitor to check if the temperature sensors are functioning, and they all show temperatures at expected levels, and more than high enough to warrant the fan coming on.

I don't think I have installed any new software that might interfere with it. I have tried re-installing the Lenovo Energy Management software. I have also tried starting the laptop in safe mode, to no effect.

I don't know. The computer used both graphics cards, but after installing the latest drivers works only integrated graphics. Apr 21, 2014I have a Y510p. After upgrading the touchpad driver ( Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for 64-bit Windows Version 17.0.10.12/11.4.26.1) and ,possibly coincidentally Windows 8.1 I noticed a process called "System" in the task manager is eating up 6 to 12 % CPU usage. Opening its file location seems to reveal that its "ntoskrnl" application.

After a system factory reset and many curse words I noticed a peculiar thing. The processor shows high usage only when the mouse is being used. The more the mouse is used the higher the CPU usage (caps at about 12%). I am assuming this is a bug.Â

I have removed the driver and tested this and the process no longer used the CPU by that amount. But I lose all my features. Is there any way I can resolve this issue without having to either wait for a newer version of the driver (whih may take a very long time?). Also is there any place where I can access the older variant of the driver?

Sep 29, 2011I just bought a Lenovo Ideapad S210 a couple of month ago. When I start using the touchscreen everything works for a couple of seconds and then randomly bubbles with about a half inch diameter start popping up, usually in a horizontal fashion across my screen. These bubbles that I am referering to are the visual effect when a finger touches the screen. So far these rogue bubbles seem to spawn whenever I start using the touchscreen, and keep me from controlling my cursor with my track pad, touch screen, or an external mouse once they appear. The only thing that works then is to shutdown the laptop, which is a big annoyance.Â

I'm using Windows 7, 32bit OS as my business application works only on 32 bit.....Since i have configured for 32 bit i see RAM availability is showing 2.6GB....I know to show 4GB i need to install 64bit OS..My question is, can i disable graphics option in BIOS so my RAM gets more space...If so, how to do it in BIOS and is it safe?

Oct 4, 2014I was having issues with the Intel HD4000 drivers (right-click issue and VGA out not working properly). I tried to install the latest drivers downloaded from Lenovo's site - two attempts unsuccessfully. It would seem to be installing, but ended up taking quite a while to finally timeout in error. Just stated and error occurred and it could not install.

So, I decided to uninstall the drivers in the Windows 7 device manager. This left me with Standard VGA drivers under displays. Tried to install the Lenovo drivers again - no dice. It seems to attempt to for a while, then would just time out and stated there was an error (same as before).

So, I'm stuck at the Standard VGA drivers and seemingly no good way to get the proper drivers re-installed. I've even gone through the Lenovo System Update software and tried there - did not work and timed out there as well.

I know a system restore would remedy it, but I've got business software and things I'd have to reinstall and would prefer not to if I did not have to.

Seems I should be able to install some kind of drivers here, but no dice.
Dell :: CPU Vs GPU Usage On 1558
May 23, 2010I am editing some AVCHD home videos using 1558(spec in my signature). I noticed when I do that my CPU cores rempain between 45-52C range but my GPU shoots to 64C and stays there.
I am concerned about the GPU as I understand the only fan in the 1558 is on the CPU so GPU is not getting any direct cooling.
My question is if there is a way to lower GPU workload and put it on CPU for my video editing .....

I am now using my FOURTH Dell Latitude E6400 in 11 months. I have had verheating issues with every one of their replacements (nVidia card didnt seem to play nice with dual external monitors through the docking station).
My first and second computers alos had major issues with the CPU spiking every time I did something that was graphics intensive.
Dell FINALLY agreed to send me one with an intel chipset instead of the nVidia card. I just started using it and every time I do something graphics intensive, the CPU spikes again. It can be a youtube video or something as similar as uing my task bar and it will affect the cpu usage greatly (will jump from 20-70+ percent).
I am on 32 bit Win 7; where can I find the latest drivers for the intel chipset?
Also, the process that seems to be eating all my cpu is Firefox...

I just talked to a dell techie and they said it might be caused by a virus. What do you think? It's brand new and I have McAfee on all the time. (I ran fn+power on diagnose, everything's fine)

Sep 24, 2009I have a summer 09 2.26GHz MBP w/ 2 gigs of ram. The first time I installed Snow Leopard I just did an upgrade, but I noticed a hit in performance... Spaces got slower, Firefox would lag between tabs, apps would take some time to launch, etc. I recently used time machine to backup my Leopard installation, clean installed to Snow Leopard, and used Migration Assistant to move everything back over (including apps). I'm still noticing the same hit in performance when compared to my Leopard install. I thought Snow Leopard was supposed to be faster, not slower?
Anywho, I noticed my ram usage is being choked up. Using iStat Pro I have been consistently monitoring my ram usage. As of now I am running Finder, Firefox (2 tabs), iTunes, Adium, and Skype. This is what the iStat Pro ram readout is giving me:
Wired: 205 mb
Active: 964 mb
Inactive: 496 mb
Free: 121 mb
Are these levels normal? It seems like I'm using an abnormal amount of ram for not a whole lot of intensive applications. Could this be the source of my slow-ness in Snow Leopard?
In addition, I installed Windows 7 Professional via Bootcamp on a 32gb partition. 7 also seems to be pretty darn slow from what I expect. I have Windows Experience Indexes around 5+ out of 7.9 except for the gaming graphics category (4+), but I notice slowness when switching between apps (using Windows counterparts/equivalents to the apps mentioned above). Another example of slowness would be how it took about 20 minutes to extract a 2.5gb Pro/E installer file.
This slowness is starting to bug me! Am I hitting the limits of my machine, or is there something wrong? If there is something wrong, what can I do to fix it?
