Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: Heating Temperature Lenovo Y570
Jul 29, 2014
If the laptop is no load and the temperature of 45-50 С (Celsius) (113-122 F)
But if you include the game, can be heated to 65-70 C (149-158 F)
Is this normal? should be lubricated with a laptop?

I have reinstalled the drivers for the Nvidia card and now I no longer see the icon in "hidden" icons of the bar, that showed which programs are using this card.

So in the past couple of days I've noticed that my Y570 isn't charging properly.
With normal use such as internet browsing, facebook, e-mail, etc. there is no problem. However I often use my computer to game stuff like Don't Starve, League, CSGO, etc. So I'm thinking the problems is something to due with heat.

The fan on my IdeaPad Y570 has suddenly stopped switching on. It does not spin regardless of temperature, and as a result, temperatures reach 90C+. The dedusting mode works fine, the fan spins up as expected for the cycle, and sounds normal. So the fan is not physically broken or clogged. I have also installed 3rd party software CPUID HWMonitor to check if the temperature sensors are functioning, and they all show temperatures at expected levels, and more than high enough to warrant the fan coming on.
I don't think I have installed any new software that might interfere with it. I have tried re-installing the Lenovo Energy Management software. I have also tried starting the laptop in safe mode, to no effect.

I have a problem with my laptop Lenovo y570. I had a defective disk. After repair and return from warranty service, the Optimus switch on the right side of the notebook blocked or broken. I don't know. The computer used both graphics cards, but after installing the latest drivers works only integrated graphics. It seems that the Optimus switched, but I do not know how to switch it back when it is blocked. I tried install older driver and driver from recoverydisk for both GPU

Intel provide a Tcase value:
"The normal processor temperature will depend on the chassis type, the hardware involved and the location of the computer, and it usually is lower than the Tcase."
Is there a place to find the "normal processor temperature" that Lenovo recommends for X Series laptops with various Intel CPUs operating at standard temperature (20 degrees Celcius)?
Here is an answer for the W Series. Is it the same as for the X Series?

after few seconds of heavy CPU usage on my x230 termal sensors show temperature slightly above 100 degrees celsius. I think it's way to high and probably should call the service to replace the fan, clean the heatsink etc, but wanted to make sure. For comparison, my previous machine (x201) did not ever go above 85 degrees during similar tasks.

bought my T430 this week.
after installing every software i will need on my notebook, i closed it (sleeping) and put it in my backpack. i only needed it again after 2 days. when i touched the bag it was already hot in the outside, i opened it, and my Lenovo was burning... i turned my computer on, the battery went down to 13% from 100% (2 days ago), as it was sleeping, i would have suggested it uses roughly 10-15% in 2 days.
my questions are:
1. is the heating thing normal while sleeping? what could have caused the problem?
2. is it possible that some parts of the computer got damaged in such a hot atmosphere? (note that i kept it in a closed bag)
possible solution to question 1: i ran a command prompts, typed in the code that tells me what is allowed to wake my computer. noticed the external Logitec mouse and that Intel giganet networks were allowed, so i disabled both. it was probably the mouse as it was in the same bag, i guess it was moving in the bag and waking the computer?

I have a Lenovo Yoga 13 with an Intel i5-3337U. I noticed that it seems to be getting a lot hotter recently (touch wise), and so I installed coretemp on the ultrabook to find out what the idle temperature is.It seems to average out 47C idle.I was wondering if this is the average idle temp for this model process/laptop.

Just purchased a G50-30 with win 7 x64. Decided to update the BIOS A7CN40WWW_64 from Lenovo website. The notebook version was A7CN23WW.
Upon reboot, after successful BIOS update, Win 7 booted with errors of Repair option or Normal boot up. Even re-installation of Win 7 will yield BSOD - ACPI non compliant.
Have changed BIOS settings defaults from UEFI to Legacy, it still does not work. This BIOS version is not stable. Can i request for the earlier version of BIOS ?

Lenovo V570, I'm on Windows 7 64-bit.
I have an esata port, and was going to get an internal hard drive with a case that converts the drive into an esata drive. I'm wanting to get a 3 TB drive, and in order to get it to read all 3 TB, I'll need to reformat the drive in GPT format (not MBR). Right?
I see a thing online that says the SATA controller has to be compatible with GPT in order to do this. I want to use it as an external drive, without any operating system on it, so I'm not worried about getting Windows to run on it; just if I can format it as GPT and get the full 3 TB out of the drive. I don't want to buy the 3 TB drive and then find out I can only get 2 because of the motherboard. If that site was correct, then I need to know if the sata controller is compatible with GPT.
I see this listed under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers list: Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller.
I tried to call Lenovo support but could only tell me that she thinks I have SATA 0 or 1, but nothing about the controller in this model or GTP compatibility.
How do I find this out?

It comes with a Hybrid 1TB 5400 RPM+8GB SSHD.
Does it automatically use the SSD for booting? Or is there something I need to do to enable this?

My lenovo Y510P used to always be at 100% but I have realized it has been decreasing by 1 every day. I have it on Maximum Battery Life with the Energy Management application.
It is currently at 85% and I would have posted this sooner if I had payed attention. I changed it to Optimized Battery Health and it is now dropping, currently at 75%.
I always leave the laptop plugged in because I usually play games on it such as battlefield, dayZ, counter strike, etc.

I have searched the issue and all I can see is I have to flash the bios. I am not comfortable doing that because I have done this before on my Alienware and it took me three days to restart the computer. Everything was messed up.
All I want to be able to do is charge USB devices when the computer is in sleep mode. I have set Windows 8 power mode up, but it appears the BIOS is still preventing this from happening. So I need to access the BIOS.When the computer restarts no message appears to say *'hit F2 to enter BIOS'.So I have tried, Fn + F2, Fn + F1, F1, F2 and none enter the bios on start up. How do I enter bios on this Z50?

I've been playing Battlefield 3 for some time on Auto settings (most of them are Ultra) and my FPS were always in the range 65-85. Yesterday morning everything was fine, however at night when I opened the game again I had 10-15 FPS. I haven't changed anything in my laptop settings so I don't know why this is happening.
P.S: I only have 1 GPU (not the SLI version) so I know it's not a loss of power. But my battery settings are set to "Optimized battery health". Does it affect performance ?

I buy the z40-75 yesterday (Jan 7th, 2015) and install Windows 7 64bit ultimate, and I download the driver for Touchpad. When I install Synaptics, a message "Synaptic device not found" or something like that", so I try install ELAN driver, but the message "This driver version doesn't suit this touchpad". This touchpad really annoying, especially when typing and I even can't disable the touchpad.
Can I get the correct driver for my touchpad?

Having a hard time figuring the partitions. first is a windows recovery drive. Second the windows boot partition. Third i'm guessing a lenovo recovery drive. Other than C: Windows, The other i'm not sure.
Other info: Made usb factory restore and made one restore point. When i made the usb factory restore when it finished it asked if i wanted to erase the recovery and i selected yes. Was thinking maybe G: was created when i made the restore.

I just got couple of days old Lenovo IdeaPad z50-75, running on AMD FX-7500.First I jsut now noticed that my CPU runs at 1.07 Ghz, before it was always over 2 Ghz or so which was good ... but maybe I touched something some where in powr settings or something and now it stays on 1.07 even when cpu pretty much utilised. I have set power plan to high performance and also Energy manager is set to high performance mode and Conservation mode is on. why it doesn't clock itself up ? I feel that it is slower than before.

I've got Y510p with USB 2.0 not working. By the time it malfunctioned it was under warranty and I sent it in the service center. They have claimed that it has been repaired (USB board has been changed) but it is still not working and my warranty ended like 3 days after I sent it back. Since then (1 month ago) I am returning it to the service center for 3 times (last one was today) and I feel they can't fix it. URL....

I try to search for answers maybe it only a software issue but doesn't work any trial. Uninstall driver and bring it back don't work still there is the annoying sound and not reading. I guess a mechanical failure in its cd alignment that it is spinning but the head is keep on adjusting which creating the noisy sound means it was not align to read the CD.

I've just bought this laptop, and it came with windows 8 preinstalled, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 on it.
I have a bootable usb, which I've used many times to install Windows on my other laptops, but the B590 just wont do it. I feel like I've tried everything. I changed the boot priority order in BIOS with USB HDD as number 1 but it still just boots into windows 8.
I've tried removing everything but USB devices from the boot order, and now I get this boot menu: [URL]
Which is exactly what I want to boot from, but when I press enter to boot from the USB device, nothing happens.
The USB device IS bootable with a primary partition. I've used these steps to make it bootable in DISKPART [URL]
After having no luck on the B590, I tried booting on the USB on a different computer, and it works perfectly well. Starts installing windows 7. So it seems like the problem is not with my usb device.
I even tried restoring the USB drive and using Lenovo Bootable Generator application to make the usb bootable, with the same result.
