its really dumb that am asking about this... i have upgraded to creative x-fi on my dell..
then is this upgradation a hardware chip inside or its just simple a software for the default IDT audio on the machine...
I had originally planned on just building a seperate desktop, but had recieved some interesting offers on here and seen some things on ebay that made me reconsider breathing a bit more life into this laptop.
I have an older Inspiron 9300, that originally came with a 6800go (256mb). What other cards can I put in it that will a) fit and b) perform well, without c) needing major modifications (new battery, etc, etc)?
I know the 6800go will, and the x300, but what about the 7300go that was put in the e1505s and Inspiron 6400s a generation later? Do the heatsinks and stuff line up still, or are they the wrong size?
Any advice or links would be appreciated. Also, if someone has a part they'd like to sell, or links to places they can be found for cheap, feel free to hit me up in-thread with those as well.
I want to play a ms game on my inspiron mini 10 but it says the video card is not compatible with direct draw, is there anything I can do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a 5G compatible WLAN card for my laptop (g6-1c75ca).
The current WLAN card is: Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter which as per my understanding doesn't support 5G Wifi band.
I just setup my brand new M6400 (well brand new from dell outlet). My config is QX9300, Dual HardDrives (primary is SSD), Nvidia 2700. I connected two external monitors using ePort plus dock and as I begin working on this new setup,
I notice a faint (but irritating once your ears tune in) churning/hissing/clicking (hard to describe) sound from the system. I have updated Bios to latest version. Os is Win 7 64bit.
It seems that since I updated to Vista and to Window 7 subsequently I can't get the audio to work out of my dock. It works fine out of the side of my laptop.
Any ideas on this? I wouldn't think it is a driver issue as sound does work.
Okay, well the day before yesterday I was trying to watch Youtube but when I clicked on a video it had no sound. I thought it was Youtube, so I exited the site and thought I'd wait a little bit. So then I went to Spotify to listen to some music. I kept clicking and clicking and nothing was happening. Then I noticed a blue notice at the top that said something about my soundcard not working properly.
I then checked everything on my computer to see if it had sound. Windows Media Player...no, videos on Facebook...nope, nothing was working. At first I thought it was my daughter. I let her watch Youtube when she lays down for a nap. I came in the other day and she was hitting all kinds of buttons on my computer. I stopped her though and everything seemed fine. I also remember my computer updating that day. Could it be that something went wrong with the update? I don't know if that's possible or not.
And also, what is a soundcard. Do I have to buy it or do I download it???
I went to Yahoo answers and someone said to uninstall the drivers. I did that and then reinstalled them and it worked. The rest of that day I had sound on everything except for Facebook. Yesterday night it happened again and the sound has not returned since but my computer sounds are still working. When I logged on the computer made the log in sound it usually makes. I also tried to listen to a video with headphones and it still did not work. Again, I uninstalled the drivers and then re installed them and got nothing.
Does it support 5.1 surround sound?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought the M4400 had even a generic sound-card until I ran Symphobia on it! Boy, did I have a laugh!
So pretty much I hear some people have been hooking up external sound-cards to theirs, but to me, that sort defeats the purpose of the portability of a laptop so...
What better sound cards can be swapped into the M4400? Or is that even possible?
I'm trying to record directly from my sound card on this machine using either Audacity or Sound Forge, but I can't get it so that it records both the sound coming out and my voice going in

View 15 Replies View RelatedI am in desperation currently with this problem. Let me explain my setup first.
I have the Dell E1505, 2gb ram, ATI X1400 mobility, 1.66ghz duocore processor, about 2 years old.
I recently got fed up with the onboard sound as I have taken a hobby up in purchasing high fidelity headphones.
This led me to get a M-Audio Fast Track Pro which is an external sound card with a separate headphone amplifier.
I basically used this sound card as my sound card as opposed to the sigmatel audio that's in the computer.
Everything was great but i found out that everytime that I did anything graphics related on my computer (blow up an image, scroll down a webpage, minimize a window, etc) that there would be a crackle/static that comes from the sound.
It got reallllly annoying so I tried finding a solution but really could not.
Any good updates?

View 10 Replies View Relatedall of a sudden my ONBOARD SOUND CARD is not detected.
all i see is an X mark on the speaker icon.
i cant really pinpoint the culprit but i do remembering doing the latest updates (this is a windows 7 ultimate system btw) and installing WINXP as a VM.
the SOUND BUTTON seems to be stuck. it just stays lit and i cant turn it off.
what i have done so far:
- tried to install vista drivers from hp.com, but obviously am unable to install it since its a win7 system. link to a win7 64 bit driver for a CONEXANT HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO 221.
- tried to do a system restore but fails.
- tried having win7 detect what the problem is and i come with a .reg file which supposedly contains the audio settings but i am unable to install it..
i found the setting for sound by going control panel > sound>realtek hd
audio>properties>advanced
Question is do my soundcard have 24bit/192khz audio decoding capabilities ?
or , it is just a dummy setting in vista
if it has , i will not go for external card, coz it will giv little improvements !
Computer p/n ET831UA#ABA came with WIN XP Home Edition. Label states designed for Windows XP, Windows Vista Capable. I formatted the harddrive and loaded Windows Vista Business 64 bit. I downloaded and installed all drivers that were recommended by HP but my Sound and Audio doesn't work. Neither does my Mass Storage Controller nor my PCI Modem. All were working with the WIN XP.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a really annoying problem with sound quality. When i install the realtek hd audio driver, the sound starts to be noisy. I hear it when no sound is on output, or moving my mouse, HDD activity, etc. I used the sound card with win7 driver (no realtek), and it was really good, but the mic was just awful. 2 years ago i found an old version of realtek driver, which was good, but i dont remember the version number.

I bought this laptop about 10 days ago.
Acer Aspire 6930g :

-Nvidia Geforce 9600M 1GB

It had a few sound problems ( not that annoying but I'd rather get rid of them ^^ ) with my subwoofer, now and again it did some annoying sound like grzzzz when it went to the bass. I had to change the sound to the normal settings, then go back to the high definition sound. ( the one with 6 or 7 different "speakers", instead of the normal stereo one which has only 2, Left and Right. )
Sometimes, my music stopped playing "problems with the audio card" or something.
So I decided to get rid of those problems by installing the latest ( i think ) realtek audio driver.
After the installation, i realised that :
1. The sound didn't work anymore AT ALL
2. When I went in that audio sound properties, it only showed me the stereo, and I can't see the 2nd one which had a better sound quality ( more speakers, more 3d sound .. )
Anyway, I just would like to know if the weird noise coming from the subwoofer is a big problem, and if I should get it back to the shop, or if it's only a driver problem.
And I also would like to know how to get my sound back, and my high quality + subwoofer aswell.
I just picked up a used D610 and it only has 1GB of RAM. I would like to upgrade it to at least 2GB but i'm not sure what speed i need.
Dell has the memory listed as "Dual In-line Memory Module 512MB, 533, 64X64, 8K, 200" but i'm not sure what this translate to over at Newegg?
Last question, is it possible to upgrade to 2GB RAM using FASTER RAM?
Will this work?
