View 3 Replies View Relatedits really dumb that am asking about this... i have upgraded to creative x-fi on my dell..
then is this upgradation a hardware chip inside or its just simple a software for the default IDT audio on the machine...
My Dell 1505 wireless N card is a constant headache, If I hide my ssid the card detects and connects to my router but I can never access the internet. It may work sometimes but most of the time my SSID has to be on.
I have tested this with two different routers and the results were the same, vista shows local access only
.
I have tried using drivers from laptopvideo2go and reimaging the computer, I am now fed up and want to get a new wifi car
Okay, well the day before yesterday I was trying to watch Youtube but when I clicked on a video it had no sound. I thought it was Youtube, so I exited the site and thought I'd wait a little bit. So then I went to Spotify to listen to some music. I kept clicking and clicking and nothing was happening. Then I noticed a blue notice at the top that said something about my soundcard not working properly.
I then checked everything on my computer to see if it had sound. Windows Media Player...no, videos on Facebook...nope, nothing was working. At first I thought it was my daughter. I let her watch Youtube when she lays down for a nap. I came in the other day and she was hitting all kinds of buttons on my computer. I stopped her though and everything seemed fine. I also remember my computer updating that day. Could it be that something went wrong with the update? I don't know if that's possible or not.
Â
And also, what is a soundcard. Do I have to buy it or do I download it???
Â
I went to Yahoo answers and someone said to uninstall the drivers. I did that and then reinstalled them and it worked. The rest of that day I had sound on everything except for Facebook. Yesterday night it happened again and the sound has not returned since but my computer sounds are still working. When I logged on the computer made the log in sound it usually makes. I also tried to listen to a video with headphones and it still did not work. Â Again, I uninstalled the drivers and then re installed them and got nothing.Â
Does it support 5.1 surround sound?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi've recently downgraded my OS from Vista to XP and i've been successful in installing most of the drivers, except for the audio driver.
i've tried installing it from dell.com other websites, XP compatible drives, etc. but none of them works. did anyone have similar problems? does anyone know how to fix it?
Is there any way I can change the equalizer settings to get a more optimal sounding playback? If not,
are there any other solutions to make music just sound better when played on the M1530? Thanks for any responses!
1. Was ANYONE able to fix their sound stuttering issue on m1530? Through Dell suport, specifically? I've seen many non working solutions, and many components blamed that it makes me believe this problem defies any definition. I used to have this problem all the time, now it just occurs when laptop is on for extended amounts of time (a day) and only if connected to the internet (wireless or lan). Example: Listening to music and turning on a movie trailer on netflix = horrible stuttering, crazy cpu usage, general slow down especially during initial buffering. Anybody with a similar problem? (mind that I'm virtually unable to reproduce the stutter on a freshly restarted lappy - it happens after a day of usage w/ sleep in between)
2. Overheating....just to keep it short: 20 mins of gaming brings up my temps to the ridiculous ~100C CPU and abt the same for GPU + emergency shutdown . My guess is bad/badly mounted heatsink. Was anybody able to resolve an issue like that with dell?
Was heatsink the problem?
The driver windows installed makes some noises sometimes when listening to music. Where can i get a good driver?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't get sound through HDMI connection from my XPS M1530 to my TV (Samsung LCD).
Â
Video transfers great but audio still comes through the laptop speakers.
Â
Testing through Control Panel->Sound->HDMI->Properties->Advanced I can hear the sound through the TV speakers, however there is no audio on my TV when playing music, DVD's, videos etc.
Â
The HDMI installed codec is from Sigma Tel.
So I upgraded to windows 7 and everything works fine but when I am in a fullscreen game (CoD 4 or WoW) I have no sound through the speakers.
Using the HDMI for sound works, but as this is never really an option, this will not do.
Any Ideas how to fix?

when I go to the customizable options it gives you a few for the sound. I'm a major audiophile. Whats best.
I know the High Definition 2.0 is IDT which I wanna stay away from due to crackling and hissing on a HDX 16t.
does anyone know what type of interegrated sound card the SXPS16 has and if its possible to upgrade to an after market one?

a Netgear Wireless-N Router Wnb2100.
Will the network card on my m1530 work with this?
In device manager its listed as an Intel pro 3945abg
If not, what card should i get and how easy are they to install (i'd prefer not having to use a dongle as most of the time I'm using all 3 usb ports)?
I know many of you have experienced premature video card death on the M1530s with 8600M GTs due to heat related failure, but I've never been sure exactly what to look for. Here's my situation-
I've had my M1530 for about a year and a half now with no serious problems to date. I game regularly and use rivatuner to overclock my card, but I also monitor temps and after I started cleaning the vents regularly and using a CPU undervolt, the max GPU temp never exceeds about 74C.
Today, I fired up my laptop for some racing online with friends (I play GTR2 and GTR Evo online), but I noticed that no matter what I did, the games wouldn't get more than 10-15 frames per second when they normally run anywhere from 35-50FPS on the settings I use, which were unchanged.
My M1530 came with the Geforce 8400M GS card and I was wondering what is the best one I can upgrade to? I read somewhere it won't accept newer graphics cards or something like that? Just trying to make it a little faster.
Also as far as upgrading the CPU, in the device manager it lists it as an Intel Core 2 Duo T5550. I'd like to upgrade this also but as far as newer CPUs go I'm not sure which models would work
I was looking to buy a 5.1 speaker system (logitech z-5300e) and was wondering if this soundcard is compatible/install-able in the M90 D/Dock PCI slot.
Model is:

I thought the M4400 had even a generic sound-card until I ran Symphobia on it! Boy, did I have a laugh!
So pretty much I hear some people have been hooking up external sound-cards to theirs, but to me, that sort defeats the purpose of the portability of a laptop so...
What better sound cards can be swapped into the M4400? Or is that even possible?
I'm trying to record directly from my sound card on this machine using either Audacity or Sound Forge, but I can't get it so that it records both the sound coming out and my voice going in
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've searched the forum and found a service diagram on installing the bluetooth card into the M1530 notebook. My question is, I never choose to have it put in by dell, so I know I need to purchase the card and I'm going to guess that the cable will need to be purchased as well.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've searched google and I've been trying to figure out if my new Dell M1530 will run Ubuntu at full graphic settings with the following unit specs.
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T6600 (2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)
High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1440x900)
128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS .....
I'm in St-Jean QC at the military base and just before comming here I ordered my Dell XPS M1530 in january and got it shortly after. It came with 4 gigs of ram, the centrino duo-core 2.20ghz processor and the 128 ati card.
I had some negative experiences with the customer service from dell the first month I had it but I decided to let it go and enjoy the unit.
Has anybody ever called dell and had the unit sent back and had the videocard/motherboard upgraded for the 256mb version? I don't know if this is possible, and I'd love to call dell but I won't be able to after July 17th when I move onto my next base.
I bought my XPS laptop a couple of years ago and got it with the 128 mb GeForce 8400M GS.
I read on a couple of different websites that you could upgrade the XPS videocards on the XPS.
I went to the Dell website upgrade section and when I entered my service tag number, video cards wasn't an option to upgrade; though motherboards were.
Is it possible to upgrade the videocard to the 256 mb GeForce GT; which I should have purchased to begin with? Do I have to buy a new motherboard and put the 256 chip on it? Lastly, is the 256 the only video card I can buy to replace the 128?
How do I share some of my laptop 8gb memory for my video card?? Were do i find the settings?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using my laptop daily with its ethernet port for my internet connection. A few times a week I'll use the wireless connection, which is easy enough to switch on and off.
Today when I got back to my desk and plugged in my ethernet cable, nothing happened. No orange/green flashing lights, nothing.
Wireless still works fine, but I can't get a byte of internet out of the wired LAN connection. The device manager says it's a Marvell Yukon 88e8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller.
Pinging loopback (127.0.0.1) works just fine and the device manager says that it's working properly
When will the Dell m1530 have a 9600 card instead of the 8600? I heard the 9600 will slightly outperform, as well as have better power consumption (less heat and noise is a nice bonus for me)
Also, is the hard-drive noise really that bad? Hard drive noises can sometimes drive me nuts. I'm using a HP laptop, and I dread it when the HD is constantly blurting out "brrr brr brr brrrrrrrr" noises. I get so happy when the laptop isn't making that sound while surfing the interbutts and stuff.
