View 4 RepliesI recently bought an Acer Aspire 6935 and I'm very happy with the performance. I formatted the hard drive and installed vista x64. Now my laptop frequently overheats and then shuts down automatically. I just read that it might have someting to do with the epower management module, which I don't have anymore (after format). I can't find any downloads for my model;
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there any reasons for using ePower management?
I have Vista 64bit installed on Acer6935G and I do not use the software, but maybe I am missing something without it.
I found a few posts about the same, but is not clearly stated that the software is really important.
On an Acer 5100-3583 notebook, ePower Management won't work. No profiles available, no adjustments possible. Can't load defaults.
Notebook runs Win XP.
Uninstalled and reinstalled ePower Management; no changes. Uninstalled and reainstalled .Net framework 2.0: no changes.
No solutions found in the forum archives or online.
The first thing I did was do a clean install of Windows 7 (it came preinstalled with Windows 7)
I'm wondering if I need to install ePower Management to achieve the advertised battery life?
Just checked their supprt website today and had found the new ePower for Windows 7 (I have the Timeline 4810T).
Can someone test that and verify that the battery power consumption is similar to the vista?
I see in the 1410/1810 thread people uninstall this and it seems to help battery life. I want to see proof. Show tests, videos, photos, whatever proof you have that this software that Acer engineers designed is useless. I had an EEE before and it shipped with Asus's own power management software and I never had a problem with it working together with whatever Linux or Windows OS I used. So, lets see what proof you have that shows the epower management software is useless.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHey guys I have a Acer Aspire 5590. I installed empowering technology, then I installed enet, eperformance, and esettings for it, I tried installing epower management but it says I need net frame 1.1 but yet I installed 2.0 then 3.5 yesterday.. and it still doesn't work. I formatted the laptop yesterday, but when it was not formatted it had all the acer programs on it, such as the one where it controls the battery performance, so I could change the screen brightness, how fast the laptop goes and what the settings are when it's running on battery. What is that program called, could somebody send me a link so that I have all the acer programs that come with acer laptops? I have Windows XP
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got the Aspire 1810t last night and upgraded my OS to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
I finally got all the right drivers on here and launch manager which fixed my Fn keys, however the Fn+F1 still doesn't work, that is what launches the power manager.
I'm only getting 5 hrs battery life without it, how to reinstall the epower manager and empowering technology software...
I have this acer with these two problems.
Firstly the power management button does not seem to work.
I have of course launch manager and power management programs installed.
When i press the button, it does light up green, but i have no indication on the screen like i have when i activate wlan or bluetooth.
When the drivers of the powersmart manager are uninstalled the button does not light up green when i press it, so it partially works.
Also, nothing changes in my power settings nor the screen brightens down, no sign that it works.
Actions i took so far:
I uninstalled and installed both programs, and i run them as admin.
I installed first the launch manager and then the power management.
Nothing changed.
I go to c: program files:acer:acer powersmart manager and try to open the right exe file which i think is ePowerMsg but then i get an error message saying that the element ePowerMsg stopped working.
The window is this:
Is this the right exe?
I tried with ac only, ac and battery, battery only, same results.
anybody using Mac Style for your vista theme?
I'm using vista32, Xps 1530
I know this has been mentioned some times at the forum - but all the links i have found are "dead".

Since February 8, new drivers are available for my laptop Inspiron 7720 SE. But none of the links work! I get errors for each. All links are not available.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavillion HPE h8z. When I received it a free Internet Download Manager was installed. There was a 30 day free trial period. Some time after the free trial period expired I deleted the program. The program is no longer listed in the programs on the computer. My problem is that a message started to appear on screen stating that the free period was over and to either purchase or delete the program. Anytime I attempt to download a PDF file the message reappears and will not allow me to continue with the download. I have tied everything that I know to do to eliminate this "bug" with no luck.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there any possibility to interact with ePower in Windows 7 clean installation? In original Vista that came wit notebook it had tray icon, but when I install this app in Win7 from provided archive (ePower_Acer_4.07.3008_Win7x86x64), there is no tray nor any launcheable app, even through there is epowertray.exe running in memory. An when I press ePower button (green battery with leaf), nothing actually happens, only indication is that icon is green lit and if I install launchmanager, there is visual indication on display too...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 5738z and upgraded to windows 7. I had to do a clean install as I upgraded to x64 Win7 from x86 vista to use the 4gb of RAM the machine has. The upgrade went fine, no problems. All drivers installed fine and the machine runs great. My problem is that the ePower button will not work no matter what I try (it's the P button on other models) and it wont light up green. I've used the Acer upgrade disk, which installed the launch manager software, but the button still wont work.

I want to replace my 1810T's Intel Wifi Link 5100 with an Intel Wifi Link 5300.
The 5100 has two antenna connectors and so the 1810T has two antennas already installed in it.
I purchased a third antenna, but I don't want to disassemble the screen to add the third antenna next to the two stock antennas.
Can I just place the third antenna here (empty area next to mini PCIe slot):
i have just purchased a new acer aspire 8730g-6353 and for some reason i cannot connect to the internet wirelessly. i can see the networks available and attempt to connect, but i'm never given the chance to input the WEP key to connect. it gives me an error telling me my troubleshooting options (which just alludes to it being a problem with signal or some garbage like that, but there is 100% signal strength at any given time).

I have a stereo system hooked up to my computer through component style cables (Red/White) that connect through the headphone jack. If I switch eAudio Management to S/PDIF Digital Output, the sound works much better. But if I try and do something else, like switch to youtube, the audio wont play at all. If I go back to iTunes again, it also wont play. I have to close iTunes, switch eAudio to "Built-In Speakers", re-open iTunes, then switch back to S/PDIF. Its a pain to have to open and close iTunes all the time. The audio quality is much better with S/PDIF and dont want to have to sacrifice by leaving it on Built-In Speakers. My actual stereo plays when Built-In Speakers is selected (not the laptop speakers), the quality is just inferior. Are there any reasons for this? Is there any solution to fixing it so that the S/PDIF is always working?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried to create a document on the MS Word 2007 that came with my Acer TravelMate 5720 - XP, Office 2007. The completed docu was saved to My Documents. When I went to My Documents to open the file, the icon contained a red bar, was labeled as encrypted, and would not open. I tried saving another - same result. The Notepad documents I save are fine but the Excel files are encrypted too. When I try to open the encrypted Word.docx file, an Acer window pops up titled Acer eData Security Management and says "System setup must be completed before you can use Acer eData Security Management. Please click "Next" to start the setup." Apparently I have turned on the Acer eData Security Management system somehow. I am not interested in using the Acer eData Security Management. It would be easy to remove the program but then it would not be available should I ever decide differently. Any ideas any one would care to offer about how I may have accomplished turning on the Acer eData Security Management system, and most importantly, how do I turn it back off,
View 11 Replies View RelatedWhen I unplug my laptop from the AC adapter, Acer's ePower system automatically dims the LCD brightness to a setting that is 2 levels above the lowest (and 7 below the highest). However, when resuming the laptop from standby, I noticed that the setting is increased to 4 levels above the lowest (and 5 below the highest). I'm kind of a stickler for these sorts of things and would prefer for Windows not to change the LCD brightness if the ePower manager is supposed to be handling it. Is anyone else noticing this, and if so, have you corrected it somehow?
FYI, I should mention that I recently downloaded an updated version of Acer's ePower management system from Acer's support website - this updated version corrected an error that was occurring where my optical drive wouldn't "wake up" after ePower management shut it down, so I would prefer not to downgrade.
I'm frankly a little confused about where exactly all the Acer-specific power options are located. What is the difference between ePower and PowerSmart? Or are they the same thing? I could go on, but I think I've raised enough questions.
