Acer :: To Boost The Video Memory In Bios On The Aspire 4720Z
Feb 19, 2008
Is there anyway to boost the Video memory in Bios on the Aspire 4720Z?
My laptop says it has 384 MB available...But It's only using 10 MB. Is there anyway to increase this to the max, so it will take away from my system memory, which is 2 GB?
Here is a SS.
As you can see...The minimum, maximum, and graphics memory actually in use.
When I check in the bios, it has the video memory set at 64mb. It does not give me the option to change this value like my old aspire 5100. Does anyone know of a way to increase the video memory on this lappy?
I bought Acer Aspire 5315 (hard:80Gb ,Memory:512Mb ,screen cystal 15.4" ,DVD RW , web cam, built in microphone, BUT Video memory 64 MB (Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100).
Wherever I search the net i found that video memory:up to 358Mb then why mine shows 64Mb? is there anyway to increase it? I am running windows vista.
i got an acer Aspire 4720z. it came w/ vista in english.. i follow all the rules to install XP.. i do it right. but on the Device Manager still are some unknow device that i don't know how to solve that.
i install xp service pack 3. (with nLite helps)
also the wifi dosen't work (i think the device is not installed)
if it's possible to upgrade my laptop's graphics, because I'm attempting to play a few games on it, and it runs them sooo slow. I don't think the Processor or RAM are an issue, but surely the GFX card is. Another thought I had was maybe upgrading my RAM to 2 GB, which could possibly give it a boost because I think my vid card draws some memory from the system?
Did a restore with factory restore disks it doesn't install broadcom BCM94312mcg wireless drivers. when i try to install I get "windows found drivers but encountered an error code 10 have tried everything I know
So I just got my replacement XPS M1640, and luckily enough, the WWAN card slot can be used also for my 1GB 1st gen Turbo Memory card from my M1530. However, upon installing the latest drivers from Intel's website, the Turbo Memory Console indicates that only ReadyDrive is enabled, and that ReadyBoost is disabled. Is there any way to fix this? I know that Turbo Memory is always finicky, as I've dealt with it on my m1530 (but both have been enabled), so when on the 1640 I click the check box to enable it, then restart, it is still disabled, even if I wait 10 minutes in the hopes that it enables after a few minutes of logging in... ?
I Formatted my laptop and installed windows XP (was a successful install) But my problem is....none of my hardware is installed. The WNet doesn't work, Vid Card isn't installed, nor is the Sound Card, and any other hardware that I'm forgetting that also needs to be installed (nothing is installed). I don't have the discs to install them. Can I get the installs for all these online somewhere and burn them to a disc and install on laptop?
I have an Acer Aspire 4720z notebook and decided to hook it up to my tv. So I got my 7-pin to composite adapter which came with my video card for my desktop and plugged it in to give it a shot to see if it would work and no go, it just won't detect being connected to the tv. I read the manual and searched online to see if this perticular notebook allowed for s-video to composite or if Acer made one for it themselves, again no go. So I was wondering if anyone has this notebook, or the 4710 or 4720 which I think are identical hardware wise, are able to connect one to it and actually get it working?
it uses a mobile intel 965 express graphics chipset.
I have an Acer Aspire 4720Z. Since long I had been using XP. Recently it was formatted and Windows 7 was installed. But after this upgradation, the WLAN is not working. Have banged my head with drivers and all.
Device manager is showing Microsoft Virtual Wi-Fi miniport adapter (although with XP it simply showed by the name of WLAN adapter as far as I remember). And checking it's properties it says that the device is working properly. When Intel Wi-Fi Technology is tried to get started, it says that 'A supported intel wireless network adapter not found'.
I have an Acer Aspire 5735Z and i want to increase the video memory share but in BIOS i can't acces the option to increase it. I have the supervizor password and i can change every thing in BIOS exept for the video memory share.
Looking for a Boot Disk or Start up disk for an Aspire 4720Z or a place to download one. She has been doing finals etc for the past week without it at college.
i have this laptop, great laptop, works great; however, the sd card reader has not worked in ages. I have tried upgrading to new drivers, reloading old drivers, etc etc....The driver company is ricoh.
I just bought a Acer 4720z and I connected it to my wireless router the problem I am having is that the computer keeps disconnecting from internet every few mins and then reconnect. I called acer and they are useless. The computer has Vista on it and my wireless router is a actiontec from verizon.
I did some searching and couldn't find the cause for my 4720Z's wifi card just disappearing about twice a day!
I'm still running Vista Premium but I have something deleting the Wifi adapter from Device Hardware list about, at least once per day, and not at the same time each day.
I don't know if billy is just throwing a tantrum or which software / hardware (could be Acer installed stuff for either or both!) As mr gates doesn't like other people installing anything but what he sales!
So I start out in Safe Mode, and my audio doesn't work, but my wifi card can be used and doesn't go POOF!
I flip a coin on what I'm going to live without, audio or wifi!
The 4720Z is 3mos old and has been doing the magic trick with the wifi card ever since the 2nd or 3 wk, and I don't know how to find the conflict?
Considering an Aspire One right now because it is less expensive than the others. I have a 512MB RAM (DDR2-PC5300) and 80GB 2.5" SATA HDD from my Thinkpad (which I upgraded both). So, I think maybe I could buy the Aspire One the cheapest version (8GB I guess).
So, is it can be done? I know that there is SATA version of the Aspire One but not sure the connector will be there in the SSD version. Try to google it but found only SSD upgrade....
My understanding is that this notebook has 2 kinds of memory DDR and DDR2. Pasted below is my Aida32 config and I need to know where I can get this specific memory from.
Motherboard: CPU Type Mobile Intel Pentium M 740, 1733 MHz (13 x 133) Motherboard Name Acer Aspire 1690 Motherboard Chipset Mobile Intel Alviso-G i915GM System Memory 502 MB (DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM)
I recently upgraded the ram in my 5315 with 2x1GB 5300 DDR2 sticks. Ever scince i did the upgrade i have had the Memory Management Blue screen about once every 3days. The sitcks are installed correctly and ive even tried swapping the order of the sitcks in the slots and i still have this problem. running Vista Basic 32-Bit
I recently purchased a 5517-5779 from best buy. Got a nice deal on it and i think im starting to see why...its only a 160gb HD which im kinda kicking myself for getting. To start with i was sitting at about 105gb with nothing of my own installed.
a week later im sitting at 99.6gb. i have still installed nothing. i have used many HP's and havent had this problem.. there seems to be a memory leak somewhere. Are these prominent with Acer products? I should have familiarized myself with Acer a bit more before purchasing one of their products. If i could resolve this issue i would be 100% satisfied with my newest purchase.
ETA-The pc has already had the geek squads "optimization and restoration" done.
I have an Aspire E1-571-6650 that is about 1.5 yrs old. I am getting messages that I am almost out of memory (currently 4GB of memory). Not sure what is using up the memory as I don't do any gaming or graphics. I do use the internet, facebook, MS Office, MapQuest, Google Earth, etc.
Beside why am I running out of memory? Can I add memory to this notebook? Got plenty of disk space but might want to add an additional 4GB or more of internal. Possible?
I already upped the RAM to 3GB but it doens't seem to do all THAT much.
The computer feels rather sluggish under Vista. I've taken down A LOT of software, services etc... but to no avail. That and it's pretty established that Vista's just not great.
I have the version with the 8600GT GPU, stock 2GB RAM (now 3) and the T7300 Core2Duo CPU.
I'm looking to get rid of the some of the lag, get a smoother system... I may need more power and therefore to upgrade the CPU but that may be expensive... :/?
