Well on my way out to the apple store I decided to run up a few competing monitors and find the 30" Dell with higher specs, HDCP S-IPS panel with 6 inputs (even has display port) for EXACTLY 1599...which is the SAME student discount price for the 30 cinema. Spec wise the Dell is better...in reality, I don't know because I can't go see it.
My question is has anyone connected a macbook or macbook pro to this display?
I use photobucket for pictures and I use to copy and paste pictures in windows by copying the image with control and C then paste with the control and V in webpages but I can't do that with my Mac
I joined photobuckets forums but they say I can't post even after joining and I checked for solutions and couldn't find how to with a Mac
Running OSX 10.6.2 on a 15" MBP with only minor complaints, but I'm facing the fact that deep down inside, I still miss Win7.
I have a Win7 Professional disc and a copy of the Office 2010 beta sitting side-by-side, keeping each other company.
I'm just curious how those of you running Win7 via Boot Camp 3.1 feel about the point update that Apple put out in January -- particularly as regards battery life. From what I understand, the touchpad "touchiness" is resolved, and graphics performance is much improved, but I have read few comments (and conflicting ones at that) as far as any gains in battery life.
I just bought a Macbook Pro (8 days ago) with iLife 2008 on it. I contacted Apple and they said an email with a link to download the update file would be sent. Anyone have similar experiences regarding updates ?
It may have only been on the shelves in the US for a few weeks but the Apple iPad has already been hit with a virus.
BitDefender has reported that it has found malware links are being sent to iPad users which disguise themselves as an iTunes update.
The malicious link comes in an email, explaining that if you update your iTunes you will be given "…best performance, newer features and security".
Once clicked, any sensitive data stored on the users' iPad may be used for exploitation.
Backdoor man
BitDefender said about the virus in a release: "Identified by BitDefender as Backdoor.Bifrose.AADY, the piece of malicious code inadvertently downloaded injects itself into the explorer.exe process and opens up a backdoor that allows unauthorised access to and control over the affected system.
"Moreover, Backdoor.Bifrose.AADY attempts to read the keys and serial numbers of the various softwareinstalled on the affected computer, while also logging the passwords to the victim's ICQ, Messenger, POP3 mail accounts, and protected storage."
The dodgy link is primed for the iPad as it seems that Mac users are unaffected by the link.
The Apple iPad has a delayed UK release date of 'May' – hopefully without a virus.
how to connect my Aluminum Macbook up to my 47" Vizio LCD HDTV. I am currently trying to go with Mini-DisplayPort > DVI and then go to DVI > HDMI from there. Would this work, with the exception of sound? I know that MD-port doesn't offer sound support, but if I added an audio cable, would this be good?
i have an old 27" sony wega tv. It only has s-video and component ports. So how do i connect my macbook pro to tv? will something like minidisplay to vga>vga to s-video will work?
I have a USB dongle connected to the USB port on the left side of my MBP. I'm not sure which side the wireless adapter is located in the MBP, but there seems to be interference between the two as I just been having alot of problems connecting to my wireless network. Because of the lack of space on my desk, the left side of the MBP is facing toward a wall (parallel to it), so therefore the Magsafe, USB, and audio ports are facing toward the wall. I have not been able to even detect my wireless network until I decided to remove the USB dongle temporarily and rescan for wireless networks. It finally worked then! So, do you guys think there is a possibility the USB dongle is interfering with the wireless adapter built in MBP? If so, what can I do about it (the right USB port is powering a WD Passport because the left USB does not provide enough power)?
Just received my new Macbook Pro (very fast delivery) and on first impressions I'm very impressed with it. The build quality and screen are stunning, and it was definitely worth the extra cash.
I'm trying to set up my broadband connection. I've got an old S@gem modem. I've managed to update the drivers using information from this site, but I'm not able to connect.
Is there an issue with Tiscali and Macs? Will I have to contact Tiscali and get something reset? I've been using the modem for years with my PC without a problem. The drivers seem fine, so I'm wondering if it's a Tiscali issue.
Recently got a macbook for the first time and I'm having trouble figuring out how to connect to the other (vista pc) computers on my network. Of course on vista I would just click network and it would show all devices online, but here nothing shows.......so I've looked up walkthroughs and I have to go to GO/ connect to server, then punch in the computer name...ok....but once I'm in, all I see on the pc I tested on is this "users" folder and nother else. I have virtually everything set to share....what am I doing wrong? Why can't I see the normal public/shared folders? Is there an easier way to connect to my home network computers?
im looking to get one of the studio xps but im currently debating wether to go for the 13 or 16. portability is fairly essential but the prospect of having the 1080p screen really appeals to me. GSDFGDFSGDFS owners/users... FGDFSG how do you find the 16 around the house and if you use it, at work or school, and moving it around, too and from these places. DFGDFSG i no its a desktop replacement and i no people will say look at the size and weight etc but i want feedback on real life use of it and how people find it.
i will be using it mostly at home in my lap, sitting on the sofa etc and at university in the library or desk in class so i was hoping to get the 13 but i really want that sexy 16inch screen so please provide feedback on your experience.
Isnt it too big compared to the studio xps 13? DFSGFSGSF I wanna buy a laptop for school & casual gaming(wow/d3/whatever) and i saw this guy locally selling his STUDIO XPS 16 brand new ..he says hell leave it to me for 950$ and he claims its FGDFSGDFS Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8600 (2,4GHz, 3 Mo Cache L2, 1066MHz bus frontal) 4 gb ram 1 gig graphic card 320 HD No blu-ray just DVD/CD RW
I was wondering how often everyones fan kicks in while your running on your batteries. My fan kicks in every 5 mins runs for 10 secs then stops (on my lap not blocking the vent). I was wondering if this was too often.
I know that it also varies from bios versions but i have a12 and my cpu is running at a cool 37' c while my gpu is running at 60 ish.
Personally I try to run out of a standard user account (instead of an administrator account). It’s the most secure way to go and just plain good form IMO. But I realize that most people do not because windows defaults you into the administrator account. Well I just noticed that the ACEeventLog (an event log created by the Catalyst Control Center that you can find in the Event Viewer) spews out a stream of events/errors when I run out of a standard user acccount. These events/errors stop as soon as I go into my administrator account.
I have a feeling that these events have been causing instability in my system when in the standard user account. If its true that its Dell’s video driver that’s doing this it would be crazy. Dell is an IT company and should know that LOTS of their users will be in standard user accounts (any good admin will do this). Well to make a long story short, I’d like to pose a question: How many of you run out of a standard user account? If I'm in the minority then it might explain the instability issues I’ve been having that few others are not.
I am finding the Inspiron 15 at reasonable pricing (from 429.99 to 489.99) so am thinking of buying an early Christmas present.
I need information on its reliability. Will I need to purchase an extended warranty or should the owner be able to operate trouble free for at least three years?
My m4400 seems to like to lock up while switching users. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does the "Please Wait..." spins away on the screen and it will stay that way forever.
The only way to fix it is to force a reboot by holding down the power button. I'm using Vista Business 64.
as it says up there a list of games you guys can play well on high settings and what resolutions you use as i cant find an actual list via the search field so thought i would get one starte....
I totally wiped out my drive and started anew on my 9300. Most of my hardware drivers were accounted for. But, I'm missing sound, wireless, Fn+X keyboard shortcuts, and (most importantly) my ATI X300, which may as well not exist because Windows sure isn't recognizing it.
I haven't been able to get online with it yet, so I'm not sure how many of these problems I can clear up by searching with 7's troubleshooting tools.
Of course, ATI doesn't have official Vista drivers for the X300. Has anyone worked around Dell's OEM drivers, or have those been fine for you?
I really wanted to make it a nice cable/OTA HD Media Center, but I especially need my video card up and running for that.
my 320gb drive that shipped from Dell 2 years ago is dieing out. It will need to be replaced soon. I am curious if any Inspiron 1520 users have upgraded to one of these new 1TB capacity laptop drives. Previously 500gb was the max capacity but now 750gb and 1Tb versions are available. From what I understand the drives must be 2.5 inch to fit in an Inspiron 1520.
Has anyone done this yet ? Which model drive have you installed ? Did you have any issues 'fitting' the drive in ? How is it working out ?
I have this odd problem with my M1530 using windows XP. I currently mainly play WoW. . . I have installed Windows XP on my M1530. . .
So heres what I do.. I open up CPU-Z .. minimize it so that I can see the current speed of my CPU in the task bar. Open WoW in windowed mode and then play so I can see my CPU speed via CPU-Z.
When I do this and Vsync is off it is normal. Speed goes 2.5Ghz @ a 12.5 Multiplier. (using vsync option in wow to control) When I turn on Vsync instantly the Speed starts going from 2.5Ghz to 1.2Ghz and back to 2.5Ghz ...
but over and over and over, back and forth.... enough to notice while playing ... it creates stutters. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this. So if anyone has a idea please share...
