Aug 25, 2009I used bootcamp to install windows 7 on my MBP. Everything runs smoothly except the fonts on webpages look very odd. The letters appear to be very skinny.

View 10 RepliesIs it just me or does the font on the MacBook/MacBook Pro's seem a little blurrier than on a PC. It seems to have sort of a shadow or is blurry around the edges of the fonts?
I thought I read about this once, where the idea behind Apples OS is to make the fonts appear exactly on the screen as they do when printed?
While using Preview for PDFs in Snow Leopard, I've noticed that fonts that should be bold look "strange" in many of the files I have to use often.
This does not happen in Adobe Reader for OSX.
Case in point:
The bottom line is supposed to be in bold print, while the top should be "normal" (as it apparently is). Is there a Preview setting I'm missing?
I am running 2 external displays through the ultradock on my t440s. The built in display looks nice and crisp. My second monitor is 1440x2560. The task bar is sharp and the title of most windows looks good. All programs looks terrible. Firefox is a blurry mess.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new hard disk for my travelmate 800. I downloaded all the necessary drivers but seem to have a problem with the radeon vga xp driver. Its version 7.83 which seems to be the latest but the only resolution I can have the screen is 1450 x 1300 or something like that which is hurting my eyes as everything is too small. On lesser resolutions graphics and fonts are blurred. On the display settings it only shows options if you have two monitors. The ATI control panel doesnt do anything either.
My old installation still had the original drivers as far as I know and I never had this problem.
i just bought a Sony Vaio Z (1600x900 resolution) and noticed that the 1600x900 resolution is way to small for me, cant barley see any text on the screen
so when i change to the next resolution (1280x) all the text and fonts get horribly blurry and "loses" the crisp that it had in the 1600x
I have a T430si Thinkpad and would like to add additional fonts to it.
Can not find the way to do that. How do I install new fonts ?
For those that use Windows on your Mac's, which version do you recommend? I'm thinking, what's best for battery life, performance etc..
I have a copy of Windows XP Pro SP3 and Windows Vista Ultimate SP2. I'm tempted to go with XP for simplicity, and the fact that it has equal compatibility and a shed load less intrusive DRM.
So since Bootcamp 3.0 is out what's more sensible to use; XP or seven? I know originally, Bootcamp was written for Windows XP and everyone (Forumers) said Bootcamp will work best with Windows XP even after Vista came out. I've read Bootcamp 1.2 was released so that all the Apple hardware components would work with Vista (AKA driver updates).
Now since bootcamp 3.0 is out; Will it be worth while to upgrade to windows 7? In other terms, will Seven give me better battery power opposed to bootcamping in XP? Whether it's facts or speculation; Is Bootcamp 3.0 set better to work with windows 7? OR is is like the Bootcamp 1.2; Did Apple release 3.0 so that apple hardware will be compatible with Windows Seven (driver updates)? and I do know the final version of seven isn't out but I don't think it will differ much from the release candidate kernal (correct me if I am wrong). Thanks and sorry if my wording confuses you, been working all day.
Would you have bought a Mac? With the growing number of Apple's customer base just curious about how many people are really interested in the Mac OS as their primary OS and not just the pretty hardware?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI was reading another thread which suggested that Windows 7 would not run that well on a MBP.
View 10 Replies View Relatedwhy it wouldn't work but was wondering if anyone has ever thought or tried it If you get a new hard drive or format your old one, can you just install Windows (any version) and run it straight up?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs anyone running Windows 7 via Bootcamp (not virtualized) on the new 15inch MBP with the core i5?
How is the performance? How is the battery life?Any driver issues or other problems of note?Does the new MBP still run at 1 million degrees in Windows 7?
I am debating buying the new 15inch MBP core i5 or the Sony Vaio Z for a development laptop to run Windows 7. If the new MBP runs Windows 7 very nicely then I might go with it over the Sony Vaio Z.
As some of you know, Microsoft Windows supported the PowerPC architecture at one point, the latest version being Windows NT 4.0.
I was just wondering if it would be possible to grab a copy of it, and install it onto my iMac G3 or any PowerPC Mac for that matter. I think it would be kind of cool.
Anyone see any flaws/reasons why it shouldn't work? I mean, Apple itself in 1996 was planning on running Windows NT 4.0 on it's line of servers when their OS was going down the tube.
I'm planning on install Parallels. I'm confused as whether to use XP or Vista. Would it be easier to install XP onto Mac? Vista looks different, and I don't mind using something different. If Vista will cause problems, I would rather use XP.
Also, is Parallels a popular choice? How is Bootcamp? VM Ware?
I am thinking of buying a new iMac but need to know if Windows 7 x64 will run fine without any issues. I read someone talking about audio issues in W7, has that been resolved?
View 4 Replies View RelatedBefore anyone tells me to use the search function. I did. Except the results it brought up kept giving me 404 errors, and not being well versed in tech lingo, I have no idea what they are.
All I'm asking is people's opinion on what the perceived best antivirus program there is out there that works on both operating systems.
I am just wondering, how are Apple's Boot Camp drivers for Windows 7? I am looking into purchasing the new MacBook Pro 13" specifically.
Also, is it true the approximate battery life on these things is 7 hours instead of 10?
installing windows on the mac and found the boot camp assistant in my OSX and it partitioned the HD and ask for the windows disk! does this mean I don't need fusion 2.0? the thread dose not mention VMware fusion, in installing widows
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just installed win7 on the MBP I purchased today, everything is great except the internal mic isn't working. I googled it and it appears to be a problem, is there a fix out for this issue?
Also I guess I'll throw it in that my MBP is running pretty hot, is this normal? Or is there a fan control
I know there are a number of options out there like Bootcamp, VMWare, Parallels, and VirtualBox. Which is the best way to go to install Windows?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to put Windows OS on my MBP and was wondering what is the best version. The reason is for games. So what are some of the things necessary to run games well on my MBP. I know heating may be a problem so what can I do about it?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI just got my MBP and when I plug in my external HD I've been using with my windows pc, it will say that it's removed after a minute or so (even though I haven't done anything to it). I managed to copy a couple files onto my mac before the HD disappears. however, when I unplug it and plug it in again, I can't get my MBP to see the HD. Normally it only sees it for about a minute or so when I boot up my computer... is this normal? I'd like to be able to use the HD as most of my files from work are on it...
View 5 Replies View Relatedi'm fedup of having to boot into windows to do my programming. can you guys suggest me some equivalent sdk's for my programming language?
I study the following:
C, C++, Java, Dr Scheme, Swi Prolog, Plpg sql (Postgre), Html, javascript, css, php, ajax, celenium. A friend of mine told me that xcode is very good but i dont know how to use it. Basically, i've been using my mac to do windows programming since i bought it.
In my computer graphics module, we do open gl programming (Which i'm using c++ express edition to code), google sketchup, 3ds max, maya.
what's the os x equivalent to visual studio? I want to dump windows and do all my programming in snow leopard now, but i dont know if visual studio has an equivalent in os x.
I have a MacBookPro5,2 that I've recently installed a 2nd HDD using an optibay caddy where the superdrive had been.
I would like to have Windows 7 running natively on that 2nd drive. Can I do this via Bootcamp? Or do I use the OS X Disk Utility app to format it as FAT and then proceed to install the windows OS without using bootcamp? I assume I would then need to install the apple drivers that are on my snow leaopard install disk.
Is that about right? Will I be able to selective boot by holding the Opt key at bootup jsut as if I had used bootcamp?
How is the Windows 7 experience on a MacBook pro? Is there good driver support? I've heard that you can set up the track pad to detect a two fingered tap as a right click? Is this true? What would I be giving up in my windows experience by using a MBP?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just bought a macbook air rev. a for my wife not long time ago, this is our first mac, she like it so far (probably other than the fan ramp up more than we like) she would like to use OSX as the primary OS but we still need to install windows on it.
Now my question is what is the best way to setup the windows, I'v read about all the options a bit but still need your opinions. The main limitation is the hardware on Macbook air, basically Core 2 duo at 1.6G, X3100 graphics but only 2G ram and 80G HD and no upgrade option.
I have both legit version of windows vista ultimate and windows XP professional, I can download windows 7 beta. I prefer windows vista over XP on my desktop. Here are a few options I have:
1.Run vista through bootcamp , but I don't feel that will be convenient for my wife, and chances are she will exclusively using vista.
2.Run vista through bootcamp, and use Vmware or parallel (which one?) run virtual machine of the bootcamp partition? Not sure how practical is this, will it be too slow because of the ram.
3. Run Xp through bootcamp, and use Vmware or parallel run virtual machine of the bootcamp partition?..........................
I have installed Xp in bootcamp and installed the driver , everything worked fine, but the area above the keyboard gets quite hot.
So i downloaded "Lubbo's MacBook Pro Fan Control" but when i extract the zip and click on the LubbosFanControl.exe i get an error in profile , how do i install , what am i doing wrong.
