I use to be able to play my blue ray's on my tv with hdmi and my sony book now I'm using my home computer with 2 video card plug-ins one for my monitor and the other is HDMI to my tv for justin-tv movies but I'm limited to that because thats in the back room I would like to use my MBP to use with my living room TV so what connections would I need to do this HDMI to ?

I want to know to hook up my laptop to my tv to watch movies.
1. Am I capable of watching at full 1080p? My laptop has a blu ray drive.
2. How do I stream to my tv?
I am giving some demos and have hooked up a tv with the e1705 and the Vista mobility center.
After doing this, my laptop screen no longer extends the full 17" width. I'm only seeing a 15" width.
This happens even after I detach the tv and change the display settings.
So, I'm sitting here on my lappy, in front of my new 37" Sharp Aquos LCD HDTV....
And, now I've finally decided I'd like to try hooking up my 1530 to the TV.
So, has anyone done this with their 1530, and what have the results been? I'm sure this very simple!
I recently purchased the new Sony vaio f after looking around for a new laptop. However, I'm wondering if I had made a mistake with the rumors about the next mbp being announced on the 27th.. I wouldve purchased the 13 inch mbp over the Sony vaio f only if it had an hdmi port since I love watching movies from the laptop connected to my HDTV. So my question is, what do u guys think the chances are of the next mbp having an hdmi port, especially since it will have the core i5 with the intel HD integrated graphics? Should I return my unopened Sony vaio f and wait until the 27th?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI saw this over on MacRumors and am more interested in them lettting OS X send sound out of the mini display port than the actual HDMI on the Mac Mini. If what I have read over the last few months is true, OS X is the only thing stopping sound from going out of the mini display port (granted you are using a monoprice HDMI adaptor already).

I am looking to purchase the Monoprice Mini-DP --> DVI dongle and hook that up with my Monster 400 HDMI to DVI cable.
I have the very same cable which I use to connect my HP desktop to my Sony LCD TV.
My only concern right now is what I read about DVI-I versus DVI-D. On the cable's packaging it says "SINGLE-LINK Connection ... For connecting HDMI to DVI components up to 1080i resolution"
I'm looking at the pins on the DVI portion of the cable and its group liked this:
9 pins (3x3) SPACE 9 pins (3x3) SPACE horizontal metallic piece.
The Monoprice adapter and the Apple adapter looks different in terms of the slots which the pins will go through.
I just want to make sure I have right components before I buy the adapter.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI went to connect my wife's M1330 HDMI to my Sharp Aquos and nothing happens. I even tried the detect function and FN+8 and still nothing.
I tried every option in every control panel.
If I hook it up to a monitor hdmi to DVI, it works.
If I hook it up to the TV, it doesn't unless....I press FN+8 while vista is booting. Then I see vista booting on the TV. Once vista loads, it default back to the laptop screen and I can't choose to output to the TV.
Arrgghh
I even tried to update to a new intel graphics driver but stupid laptop says when I run the exe that it's not allowed or is unkown or something or if i manually upgrade the driver, it says i have the latest driver, which i don't.
Anyone have any insight to how to get HDMI working on this laptop?
BTW, this is on the intel onboard video card.
I have a dell studio laptop with hdmi out that works well with my hdtv but only have one hdmi input on my tv and is being used by something my question is if I get an adaptor that has hdmi to compontent output will it work

I'm trying to get 5.1 sound through HDMI on my XPS M1330 with my Sony HT-CT 100 soundbar.
Is there any way to get 5.1, because I always get 2.0 .
Which version HDMI does studio 1555 have ? I dont know why computer manufacturers hide that information, cant they say HDMI 1.3 or HDMI 1.2 instead of just saying HDMI .. i am sure USB is not confusing since most USB are 2.0 now.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio 1537, and I reguarly use my TV with my laptop as an extra monitor, and when I plug the HDMI cable in, the audio switches over to the TV with no problems.
However, it seems that whenever I restart my laptop, (even if it was turned off after having taken the HDMI cable out) the audio is being sent through HDMI, and I have to go and change it to the speakers of the laptop.
Is there any way of basically setting the laptop to send audio through HDMI if it is plugged in, and the speakers if not?
I was amazed by the passion put by some people here, in older threads, about Dell not including HDMI ports on Inspiron.

My SXPS13 is running Vista 64 with all the latest BIOS and drivers from the Dell website. nVidia driver version 7.15.11.7982.
I plugged my LCD 37" telly in my laptop via HDMI. At first everything was ok and l was getting an image on the laptop screen as well as the TV.
I was then abled to switch modes so l just had an image on the TV. The screen was a bit overstretched so l was loosing the top, bottom, left and right of the image.
I went into the nVidia control panel and found a utilitily where l could re-size the LCD TV image.
All seemed fine until l clicked apply. The screen went blank and it appeared the laptop had frozen as l was unable to get the CAPS LOCK key to come on
I am posting a new thread regarding another issue I recently experienced. It is related to HDMI.
Previously I had my mobo replaced, because one of the HDMI pins was melted. Once replaced I tried it again. I have connected the HDMI cable and my laptop crashed. The speaker started to beep, the screen picture was distorted. I immediately plugged it out and notice that the HDMI connector was really hot. Tried it again and the same thing happened.
What do you think can cause this? The HDMI cable is 3m long. I heard somewhere that using a HDMI cable longer then 1.5m could cause problems, but I have used this cable for 1 year with my HP lappy and my WD TV live.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought 22" LCD monitor (LG m2294A). It has HDMI in, DVI in, and VGA. I tried connecting my Vaio SR to it with an HDMI cable. Sadly, it didnt work, the monitor displayed a message saying "out of range". In the monitor's user manual I later noticed that HDMI-PC mode is "not supported".
It does however support DVI-PC mode. So my question is, has anyone tried using one of those HDMI-DVI cables to connect their SR's to a DVI monitor? I have read online that going from HDMI to DVI isn't as simple as going from DVI to HDMI. I would really hate to have to connect to the monitor via VGA since I want to get use out of my HDMI out. While I wait for my cable to get here, I would like to read about your experiences in the matter.

My 1410 has a problem with the display out function. It works fine with both the HDMI and VGA output when the lid is open. However, when I close the lid, the display is okay for a couple of seconds then it flashes on and off intermittently on the display that I hooked it up to. It happens with both the VGA and HDMI output signal. It only happens when the lid is closed, even though I set the computer the do nothing when the lid is closed. I thought it might be a software/driver issue, but I installed the most recent chipset and VGA drivers from the acer website with no change. This is an important feature for me to have because I use the computer with an external display the majority of the time. I am running windows 7 home premium 64bit. Their tech support has told me that Acer computers are set to not work with an external display when the lid is closed.

The Resolution on the Sony Z is set to HD 1080 and the picture appears, but i just cannot get the whole screen to fit.

When i want to read a DVD movie i got the image on TV but no sound, HDMI supposed to give both sound & video right? Maybe someone know the procedure?
Then i want to watch a .AVI movie file With VLC player, the same way (HDMI), Still no sound but now no image either?
