I just bought 22" LCD monitor (LG m2294A). It has HDMI in, DVI in, and VGA. I tried connecting my Vaio SR to it with an HDMI cable. Sadly, it didnt work, the monitor displayed a message saying "out of range". In the monitor's user manual I later noticed that HDMI-PC mode is "not supported".
It does however support DVI-PC mode. So my question is, has anyone tried using one of those HDMI-DVI cables to connect their SR's to a DVI monitor? I have read online that going from HDMI to DVI isn't as simple as going from DVI to HDMI. I would really hate to have to connect to the monitor via VGA since I want to get use out of my HDMI out. While I wait for my cable to get here, I would like to read about your experiences in the matter.
Could you post which versions of the graphics driver, shared library, event service, and setting utility series you are running
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just hooked up my Sony Z using the HDMI lead to my Samsung 1080P 47" TV.
The Resolution on the Sony Z is set to HD 1080 and the picture appears, but i just cannot get the whole screen to fit.
I have to change the TV aspect from 16:9 to make it fit
I just got this laptop from BB. I pretty much wiped all the bloatware off of the computer. It's been years since I've seen this much garbage on a new system. This computer ran slower than a five-year-old Dell when I took it out of the box.
Anyways, when I try to stream a video (say, from Hulu) and watch it fullscreen over HDMI to my HDTV -- everything is fine -- until I close the lid, then the video starts stuttering pretty badly. I've changed the performance settings in three places so that closing the lid should have no effect: power management, advanced power management (the tree structure), and the device manager. I'm not sure if it's the processor slowing down or the Wi-Fi - but I've got the settings tuned to performance for both. It seems like when I close the lid, there's still a performance hit going on somewhere.
This laptop sounded like a great deal hardware-wise, but it has some issues... I think the integration with the i5 was rushed; the thing is a massive battery hog even surfing the web, and the amount of power management settings are confusing and conflicting.
does the sr590 have an hdmi port?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI did a clean install of Windows 7 on my Z590 after upgrading the BIOS to R2170M3. Everything works perfectly but I just can't get any sound over HDMI on my TV. Totally ruins the Windows 7 experience...
I have the NVIDIA 187.35 drivers from Sony installed. When I install the previous NVIDIA drivers for Vista (174.49), I immediately get sound over HDMI. Apparently this is an NVIDIA problem.
I have a FW 290 with the ati graphics card. When I connect the laptop to my tv with the hdmi cable the resolution is displayed correctly on the tv at 1920*1080. However, when I disconnect the cable the laptop resolution goes to 1440*900 instead of 1600*900. So there are black lines on the edges of the screen. If I go to display settings or to the ati catalyst control center I cannot change the resolution back to 1600*900. 1440*900 is displayed as the max. The only way I can fix this is by restarting the computer.
View 5 Replies View Relatedtried both nvidia and intel graphics, when I connect hdmi, it doesnt recognize it (never tried on vista so it could be defective).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have sony vaio Z11VRN, windows 7 ultimate installed...with all the official sony drivers...
everything is working just great...until I wanted to connect my laptop to my new philips tv via HDMI..
(before I was doing that all the time with Toshiba TV with no issues at all!)... so no I have no sound.
To cut the long story short....it is not an issue with sound card (playback devices selected HDMI one...and the equalizer actually moves...), the TV has no issues since it works perfectly with dvd using the same cable.
So I just recently purchased an F series laptop and am very happy with it. My only problem is that when I connect it to my tv, the computer display is larger than the screen, making the outside edges not viewable
View 4 Replies View RelatedRunning my FW290 with an ATI 3650 through my AVR (Onkyo TX-SR706), I get video, but no audio - audio stays with the computer. I have no audio issues running the computer through HDMI directly to my TV (except at times I've had to switch the default playback device to HDMI). That option is not available here as the computer is not showing any HDMI output.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIve been using a 40 inch HDTV ever since I received my Z about a month ago. I had to move recently, and now when i attempt to use the display it looks very strange, almost as if someone turned the digital vibrance or contrast setting up all the way. The text looks strange, and it is overall unpleasant to look at. I checked all of the settings and everything is the same as before, and tried varying the resolution and color settings. I can't figure it out!
I can take a picture if that would help explain better. I also checked the TV's settings and I do not believe that is the issue.
I also tried reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers from sonys website to no avail.
I use a Benq 1920x1200 at work and one at home via HDMI-DVI cable. It worked well until the Benq at home died. I got money back from Benq and bought a Dell U2711 and thought that I could get 2560x1440 resolution on my Sony.
I use Win7. But what really makes me is that the highest resulution on the Dell U2711 I can get is 1600x1200!
I can't choose 1920x1200 from the Screen resolution chooser in Win 7.
I can set 1920x1080 in the the Screen resolution chooser in Win 7, but then I get a dark screen on Dell showing text "unsupported resolution".
Powerstrip monitor info says that 1920x1200x60Hz is supported, but not 1920x1080, so the "unsupported resolution" on Dell monitor is correct.
But how do I make is possible to choose 1920x1200 from Win7?
When I try to use Powerstrip to make resolution 1920x1200 I get the error message: "This parameters you have specified may be beyond the capabilities of your monitor or graphics card. Please recheck the resolution, horizontal and vertical refresh rates, and the pixel clock to ensure they are within spec.". But I can't do anything more...
So how do I at least make it possible to use 1920x1200 on the big 2560x1440 screen?
I have a Sony Vaio FW laptop with a HDMI output, when i had vista i could plugin my hdmi output in to my TV hdmi input and immediatly see my computer display on my TV. As soon as i upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit, when i plugin the hdmi cable nothing happens, i am unable to get my tv and laptop to notice each other, Win 7 doesnt seem to notice at all.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a z690 with a blu-ray recorder for $1550 at SonyStyle. The problem: it connects to my high def Vizio Television, but there is no sound coming out of the television speakers, only the Sony speakers.
It says there is an HDMI audio driver but it is not connected, even though it is. Keep in mind - I did upgrade to Windows 7. It was working with Windows Vista
The problem is i have just plugged my laptop into my 1080p samsung TV it finds it and it displays it on my tv and some ATI program pops up, so the picture isnt the best and doesnt take up the whole TV, so i go to the hdmi settings on my laptop and there are 3 options 720 768 and 1080............ i want 1080 but its shadowed out, i cannot click it it, all i can click is the first option!
why this is so? the max resolution on the laptop is 1377x768 on my laptop........ is that the problem? I would really like the 1080p option, the sound comes through my tele etc and it seems great.... but the pic qual aint great.
I just connect my VGN-Z591U to my XBR-1080P via 1.3 HDMI cable.I'm very disapointed about how the text look on the screen. It look very crappy, but orthewise picture and movie look perfect. When I chage setting to 720p the text look better but pictures and movies become worse.

View 7 Replies View Relatedmy vaio z21wn/b with hybrid graphics (nvidia 9300m en intel gpu) wont allow me to output graphics trough HDMI on a 720p tv. However, when i connect the laptop to a 1080p tv trough HDMI it does work.. strange huh?
i've tried several drivers (Nvidia, sony presentation helper, sony control center) and display resolutions, but i cant manage to get it working..
I went to connect my wife's M1330 HDMI to my Sharp Aquos and nothing happens. I even tried the detect function and FN+8 and still nothing.
I tried every option in every control panel.
If I hook it up to a monitor hdmi to DVI, it works.
If I hook it up to the TV, it doesn't unless....I press FN+8 while vista is booting. Then I see vista booting on the TV. Once vista loads, it default back to the laptop screen and I can't choose to output to the TV.
Arrgghh
I even tried to update to a new intel graphics driver but stupid laptop says when I run the exe that it's not allowed or is unkown or something or if i manually upgrade the driver, it says i have the latest driver, which i don't.
Anyone have any insight to how to get HDMI working on this laptop?
BTW, this is on the intel onboard video card.
When i try to play a 1080p movie over hdmi on my tv, it doesn't run smoothly ( i think its called framedrops?)
The videocard is a 9300m GS and since i've got hybrid graphics, a driver update is not possible.
The laptop is a vaio z21wn.
I've tried multiple things (coreAVC, MPC, VLC, etc..) but none seem to give better output.
Are there other solutions to this problem?
Put Windows 7 on Vaio 620n. I get audio (through HDMI) but only 2 channel.
In the driver window it says Max number of channels 2/ HDCP not supported.
When I play a channel mapping wav file, everything is mapped to the front of my system.
Im using the Nvidia Vista driver that originally came with the system. Because every other driver I find is useless. Amazing that Sony is so behind as far as Windows 7 driver support.
So I guess my question is:
is anyone in a similar situation having more success than me -and how?
how to use the TV as an extended. Which options do I go to if I want to use it to view whatever my laptop is viewing?
