View 4 RepliesStill setting up my new Z. I had to do a full recovery to get out of a bad software.
Due to some esoteric software, installing all my software on my C drive takes about 30 hours. (Much of it unattended but still, a huge effort.)
I am going to partition off the C drive for programs after the install. The D drive will be for my data.
I have a 1 Tb portable external drive.
Once I set up the C drive to exactly how I need it to be, I would like to somehow mirror that C partition onto the portable hard drive. Then if my C drive corrupts after use, I can just remirror it from the image on the portable drive quickly for a 'fresh install' performance.
But since the portable drive is 1 Tb, i still want to use the excess space to write other data without ruining the C drive's image.
I'm having a problem with HDMI output from my dv7-3079wm to my 37" LG 1080p LCD. When I view the input on my TV, there is a black border around the image (like it is overscanned?). This happens at most resolutions, except for 1360x768, and I would like to watch Blurays in 1080p. So I'm not sure why it is doing this. I also tried this on a 42" Hitachi 720p TV with the same result (all resolutions) so I don't think that it is the TV. I couldn't find any settings in Catalyst Control Center also. My graphics card is an ATi Mobility Radeon 4650.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the Y510P with Windos 8.1, latest graphic drivers. I'm connecting it to my HD TV via HDMI and the image doesn't fit well in my TV, it's a little zoomed in. I've been searching for a solution in all the menus from Intel's HD 4600, nVIDIA's Control Panel, Windows scaling... NOTHING works. I have another laptop and it has an option that scales the image and the TV shows what is supposed to show.
How can I solve that and fit what I see in my laptop's screen in the second screen (TV)?

I have been using a HDMI cable connected to my TV for a few months now all working fine yet today for no apparent reason the sound has started coming through my laptop rather than the TV. I have gone to the control panel and tried switching the default sound to the realtec digital however this did not work and I ended up with no sound at all.I have tried two different players both VLC and Zoom player.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI broke the hinge of the laptop's lcd. I replace the hinge, there was a cable that was broken, I realize that cable was not related to the lcd since it was connect to the wireless network chip.
I made sure all the lcd cable are plug in the laptop motherboard.
On the back of the lcd, there was white tape and it said do not touch, I accidentally touch this by mistake. I don't know if this is really serious.
Now, the laptop does not have any picture, but the light is on, the lcd has a grayish color, its like its about to load, but no image comes up.
This issue occurred during the hinge breaking.
I hope I didn't break the lcd.
Model is dv2037us.
The laptop is fine if I hook it up to a monitor via vga port.
I purchased a pavilion g7 laptop about 2 years ago. Just recently I wanted to reimage the laptop due a virus and other issues. When starting the reimage (restore to factory settings) process, the system initially appears to be running the restore but eventually it will stop and hang causing me to reboot. Logging on and going to the D drive and running the executable to restore the system it states that the drive is corupt.
How do I quest from HP an image or disc with Windows 8 so that I can restore my laptop to factory new.
I'm looking for i9KFangui because my i9300 is acting up and the GPU fan has just been outrageously loud lately. I've been trying to look for the program, and the original host, mckenziedev [url] seems to be down or something cuz I can't go on anything that's linked to that domain name.

I run command prompt as an administrator and use: imagex /apply e:dellimagefactory.wim 1 d:
This appears to restore, takes around 20 mins to reach 100%, but on rebooting the machine its still in its current state....Do I need to do an extra step? what have i missed?
from most reviews you see people complaining that it's the worst trackpad they've ever used, but then there are some people who get used to how it works and find it not so bothersome... after owning my dm3 for 2 weeks, i realized that i naturally learned how to "glide" over the trackpad instead of pressing against it (like you would with a normal trackpad). when i've kept his in mind, navigating around windows becomes much easier for me.

I tried last night and early this morning to view the inventory on Dell's Small Biz website but I kept receiving an error message.
Has anyone else tried to check out the inventory on any of Dell's outlet sites last night or this morning and like myself couldn't get through?
I assume it's impossible to view the other partition tho.

I purchased a Pavilion g7 laptop in December 2012. The 1TB HDD that came with the laptop started to go bad on me. After several attempts to 'system self-repair' (which failed) I purchased a replacement Seagate SSHD 1TB HD. Since I did not have any Windows 8 recovery discs I contacted HP, paid for and had them sent to me.
So now I have a new SSHD, new W8 recovery discs and my laptop. I replaced the HD and started the recovery process per the paper instructions that came with the discs.
At 4% (in the 'Copying files required to restore the hard drive phase') I get an error message:
Reducer (Title of the error message)
Copy File Fails
From: D:/PRELOAD/BASE14.SWM
To: C:/RM/Image/BASE14.SWM
Press OK to retry.
Obviously since I'm posting about this simply pressing 'OK to retry' did not work. I powered the laptop down and restarted the recovery process. I got the same error message at the same point described above.
The Sony Vaio Z series is one of my main choices to get. One of the biggest reasons I was getting this laptop was the quality of the image but now I read a thread about the leakage of their screens

AOC monitor (no issues here)
Irecently bought a new AOC monitor 6 months ago and it worked flawlessly up to two weeks ago when it suddenly stopped working with this laptop. monitor still works great through HDMI with my brothers mac and with a seperate Blu ray player also via HDMI. so its not the monitor or cable that is causing the problem.
the driver for the monitor is installed correctly and all the extra graphics drivers such as nvidia have been uninstalled and still the screen shows 'no signal'
I suspect the issue is with the HDMI driver which i have not been able to find a driver for (i recently reformatted my laptop and had to re-install all drivers even for USB ports and mouse ) however reformatting the laptop was done in an attempt to solve this issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC tx1218au working on Windows Vista Home Premium and AMD processor and NVIDIA graphics. I have installed the latest updates for my laptop. The problem that I am currently facing started more than a year back and is still in continuity. I have uploaded photos on my laptop and on initial stages I was able to view and edit them with ease. Later on I was unable to view the photos. Even when I load any new photos from my camera I am not able to view them. The photos donot seem to be corrupt. I have tried attaching these photos to my email and opening the same on my desktop and viewing them from my desktop.
I have this desktop which runs on Windows XP and Intel Processor. Whenever I try to open any of my photos with any of the software programs other than Quicktime, the laptop immediately stops working and it does some memory dumping and then my laptop starts again. When I open these photos with Quicktime, it gives me a message that my image is corrupt and it cannot open this file. Most of the photos appear as corrupt on Quicktime except for a select few which opens but in such a way that the photo is painted in color blue or showing some shadowy images. Because of this above problem I am not able to work with my photos on my laptop.
When I connect my G505s laptop to TV via the HDMI port , the audio does not go through the TV.
I found similar topics, but nothing works [URL] ......
On CONTROL panel i select SOUND.
I do not have the HDMI Output listed under “Playback” tab, right click in the playback window and select Show Disabled Device and Show Disconnected Device. And still it didnt show the HDMI output. :/
Under Playback It shows only Speakers and Headphones. (Still after selecting Shoe disabled device and Disconnected Device). Under recording Stereomix and microphone.
What would fix this? Its my laptop missing any file/ program or driver? Or is there problem with audio card or display card?
( I download drivers from [URL] ....... so i mean its Updated).
