HP Envy Dv7-7250us Display :: Laptop Freezes When Plug In HDMI To Monitor
Oct 19, 2014
When I plug in an HDMI cable to my laptop the screen freezes and a black box forms around the screen. The only thing I can see is my desktop background image. Can't do anything, system is totally frozen. When I disconnect it everything works great again. What do I need to do? I'm using a HP ENVY DV7-7250us with WIN7 (64bit) installed ...
I got my HP Envy dv7-7250us back in May 2013, and realized that the most recent version of its Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver software is 9.17.10.2857 from November 2012. Intel's official driver is now at version 15.31.3.64.3071 (9.17.10.3071) from March 2013. I am unable to install Intel's update though, because it detects HP's version of the driver and refuses to install a generic version. However, HP's current version is very dated, and I'm running into severe performance issues in many games.
Is it possible that HP could ever bring their Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers up to date?
I am using an HP Envy dv7-7250us laptop, running windows 8.1. All my software is up to date. In the last month, every time i turn on the laptop, the internet connection drops. Running HP troubleshooter resets the wifi adaptor.
I have Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 installed. I went out to Intel's website and have the most current driver.
I have an HP ENVY dv6t-7300 laptop. I'd like to connect it to a 1920x2000 24" monitor. My laptop has a max screen resolution of 1366x768. A couple of questions...
1). Is an HDMI cord the best way to to connect to the monitor? 2). Will the monitor stretch the 1366 pixels to fit the 1920 pixels or will the image not fill the monitor?
Irecently bought a new AOC monitor 6 months ago and it worked flawlessly up to two weeks ago when it suddenly stopped working with this laptop. monitor still works great through HDMI with my brothers mac and with a seperate Blu ray player also via HDMI. so its not the monitor or cable that is causing the problem.
the driver for the monitor is installed correctly and all the extra graphics drivers such as nvidia have been uninstalled and still the screen shows 'no signal'
I suspect the issue is with the HDMI driver which i have not been able to find a driver for (i recently reformatted my laptop and had to re-install all drivers even for USB ports and mouse ) however reformatting the laptop was done in an attempt to solve this issue.
When i turn on the laptop, display doesn't turn on even when external monitor connected via VGA/HDMI.. I hear CPU Fan sound, keyboard lights on, power light on.
well I have a l702p 3d, I connect it to my samsung smarTV and it works wonderfuly (hdmi ofcourse), but I have a FLATRON W2243T LG monitor (it only has DVI and VGA ports) I try to connect it using hdmi-dvi adapters but the laptop does not recognize the monitor!
Hp Envy 6t-1000 has a green tint to the monitor. There seems to be no black color. I ran the system diagnostics and everything passes. If I tyr the color palette check it fails. I have updated the video drivers, updated the BIOS, replaced the monitor cable and run a system recovery using the disks provided by HP. All to no avail. I can attach an extrenal monitor, either HDMI or USB, and it works. Only the built in display has the green tint and lack of black palette.
I just got an HP Envy, 17 inch, and I have an HP 25 inch monitor I would like to connect to it. It has the "old style" connector which was supported on my old HP Entertainment Notebook. Not on the new one! What kind of adaptor do I need to get? I do have an HDMI port on the left side of my laptop. Do I need just a regular HDMI cable?
I have a brand new HP Envy X2 (15-C001dx) with Windows 8.1. So far it works fine by itself. I tried connecting an external monitor to the laptop using an HDMI cable from the laptop to an LG L246WPQ display. The problem is that 10-15% of the left side of the laptop screen content does not appear on the external monitor. Missing from the external monitor is the word "Start" in the upper left corner along with roughly the 2 leftmost columns of tiles. This occurs in both "Duplicate display" or "Only display on screen 2" modes. This is using a resolution of 1680x1050 which both the laptop and the LG appear to support. Using the touch screen on the laptop I can scroll the tiles to the right and see the missing leftmost columns. The information that is displayed on the external monitor begins as far left as that monitor will display. In other words, there is no black/blank area on the left. Except for the missing information on the left side, the content of the rest of the external monitor looks fine. I updated the laptop's video driver to the latest on HP.COM. No change in behavior. I tried every option I could find on the LG OnScreenDisplay, but nothing made the display any better.
I am using an Envy TouchSmart 15 and I have just run an update of Windows 8.1 based on the system auto update (it ran 5 updates).
Prior to the update, I used a 27" monitor as the main screen and this was connected via the HDMI port. Right after the update, the system doesn't seem to recognise the HDMI port anymore and it goes back to using the Envy laptop screen as the main screen. I changed the HDMI cable but it made no difference. I subsequently connected another laptop to the 27" monitor via HDMI and it worked fine. So it appears both the monitor and the HDMI cable are fine.
I have recently purchased Dell Inspiron 15R 5521N laptop with Windows 8 Pro. When I try to connect my laptop to an Acer monitor with an HDMI cable, it gives me a no signal error. But when the same laptop is connected to a Philips monitor using the same cable, it works perfectly. As usual I thought that the monitor was the culprit, but when I connected another laptop to the Acer monitor using the same cable it worked without any errors. So where does the problem lie. The HDMI cable is OK, the laptop is also OK as also the Acer monitor?
For the past several days a narrow horizontal line appears in the lower part of the screen on my Envy dv7 laptop - Windows 8, Intel i5 processor - that I purchased in Janurary 2013.The line flickers in various colors and is very annoying. I pulled up the BIOS screen and the line does not appear. I don't have another monitor to plug into, so I can't run that test. Everything else is functioning normally.
I just bought the HP ENVY 17-j180ca Notebook PC. I'm trying to calibrate my monitor for photograph editing. The software I'm using to calibrate the monitor with asked two questions I don't have the answers to...
1. Is the Gamut normal or wide? 2. Is the monitor backlit with Fluorescent CCFL, white LED or RGB LED?
My Aspire 5738 is hooked up with AOC brand 27" HDMI external monitor by HDMI cable. This monitor is without any speakers. I made this monitor PRIMARY to 15" Aspire 5738 screen.
When I play a DVD/CD using ROM drive NO SOUND comes out from built-in speakers of Aspire laptop. But picture runs on AOC monitor which is not useful. Aspire 5738 has TWO sound processors in device manager. One is Intel (Default) and other one ReaLTek, both are HD quality.
"How to configure (If Possible) any of the TWO sound processors to HDMI" OR any other practical solutions?

I purchased my laptop about two years ago. A few days ago, the screen suddenly dies, and on boot, it flickers a few times with the proper display, but then goes blank. The backlight seems to remain on though. When I use an external monitor with the HDMI port, the external monitor works fine, however the laptop screen remains blank. Here's a video of what it looks like when I first boot the laptop: [URL] .....

My problem is that I do not get the picture up when I connect it to my Panasonic TV, both during display settings and sound can see my TV, but there No picture, have tried all display settings that are possible?but it works without problems on 32 "and 40" TV but not at 46 smart TV and my 50 "TV
I've had my laptop for a little bit under 2 months, so these are the things I have noticed.
Issue number 1: When you plug in the power cord into the computer, the screen freezes on what it is currently on. I noticed this issue because occasionally when I plug in my power cord, and try to use the mousepad to select something, the mouse pointer is gone! I have to unplug-replug the power cable to get the mouse pointer to show again. It seems to have to do with the screen
Issue number 2: when I carry my E7440 around in my bad, or have it shut for long periods of time >3 hours (I just simply close the lid), the computer will SHUT DOWN. The thing will shut down completly, even though I simply closed the lid! At first I thought it was just going into hibernate, so I disabled hibernate in my power settings. But nope, even when the computer is asleep, it will occasionally shut it self down for no reason at all.
Just now, I closed the lid on my laptop, and put in in my bag, then walked to my office about 10 minutes away. When I sat down at my desk and opened my laptop, to my surprise, it had shut down by itself! All of my open windows, browsers, and applications were closed, and upon opening chrome and microsoft word, I was greeted by "your browser did not shut down correctly" and "microsoft word has recovered files". This points to the conclusion that it was not hibernates fault, but instead a issue with the laptop itself shutting down when it is put in sleep. This issue needs to be rectified immediately if it is a widespread issue.
Issue number three: When the computer comes back from hibernate or sleep, the computer is very very sluggish, even when plugged in. It is sluggish forever, OR until the power plan is set from whatever it is to "high performance". upon switching to the previous powerplan from high performance, the swiftness of the system is restored. This indicates to me that the system is throttling itself after it resumes from hibernation, why. This needs to be fixed; many people (myself included) just thought that the system itself was slow and underpowered, not realizing that it was just throttling itself when it emerged from sleep or hibernate.
Tried (and sometimes successful) to connect HDTV to laptop, Inspiron 5720. Now laptop screen does not display (goes black) without an external monitor physically attached. Tried using Projects and clicking on single laptop display, but if I disconnect the external monitor, the laptop screen just goes black. Not very portable if I have to lug around a second display.
I have a latitude E6430s running windows 7. I have it docked using a dell docking station, and have 2 dell monitors connected using dvi. With this configuration if I have the 2 monitors running I can't get any picture on the laptop screen. I wanted to be able to use all 3 screens at the same time is this even possible, how to have all 3 screen working at the same time.
It happens that my laptop sometimes start showing 4 displays and sometimes when rebooted several times. Starts working normally. Seems to me more of a drivers problem or else why would it start normally if this was a hardware problem. Also, when laptop was running, I kept shaking the laptop just to check if it was a hardware problem like the lcd's cable might be loose which fitted in the motherboard but it was not the case.
Laptop is: HP Envy 6.+Laptop is not under warranty.
i have recently purchased and HP Envy 17 laptop and have been trying to backup all of my iphone 5s photos and videos onto thelaptop however everytime i try to play videos either through the photos folder or the photos library app nothing works. In the photo app the app just freezes and crashes and in the photos documents folder media player just comes up not responding. This hapens with the vast majority of my videos i have seen that other people have had the same issure and i have installed the VLC video app as suggested and still nothing works.
there has been an IOS update since i started taking videos however this makes no diffeence as the handful of videos that do work are from both before and after the update so it can not be an issue with my phone and the videos i have taken in the last few days dont work.
