Oct 13, 2009Had a issue today the laptop would not boot with battery, plug the AC in and it booted fine. Battery shows 93% charged..all is about 1 year old.

Dell :: Inspiron 1525 Won't Boot
Jan 10, 2010My cousin has an Inspiron 1525 laptop which has had an issue of booting. Randomly one day she received the following message, "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive". It also said from below "Boot to CD by pressing any key" that the "BOOTMGR is not found".
I received the laptop in this state. I booted from the CD (Windows install disc) and was able to reinstall Vista. I then updated all the drivers and had everything working like a charm. I thought I had hit jackpot with an easy reformat. After about 4 hours of having it running perfectly, as I was installing Windows updates, I received the "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive" message. Now I cannot boot into Windows and booting from the CD no longer works.
Here are some of the specs:
T2390 Dual Core 1.86Ghz
2GB RAM
160GB SATA HDD
Is the hard drive dying? Is it the SATA controller? The motherboard? Anyone have any ideas or past experiences?

Dec 26, 2009I have ran the PSA (?) and received an error code of 2000-0142. Does anyone know if this is something I can repair? I would be very grateful for any help.
She really needs this computer for school and funds are super tight around here (with the economy the way it is)

Nov 3, 2009I'm having a serious problem with my laptop right now and I'm fearing the worst: a bad motherboard, a problem which I have found to be pretty common with 1525 users through Google/forum searches.
Hopefully someone out there can relate and has a remedy that will save me money/time/hassles with my laptop, which by the way has been out of warranty for about 6 months.
I purchased the 1525 last April (2008) direct from Dell. Here are the vital specs: Inspiron 1525, Intel Core 2 Duo T5550, 1.83GHz, 667Mhz, 2ML2 Cache. I've never really had any problem with it until yesterday morning. I woke up and pressed the power button after allowing the system to hibernate the night before. The power LED lights up in the bottom left and the touch-sensitive media buttons flash from side-to-side like normal
Dell :: Inspiron 1525 Wont Boot
Sep 7, 2009The laptop was working fine all day but then all of a sudden when I had to reboot it, the only that would come up is the dell media direct and that wont load because its telling me it cant find the drive.
I tried to put in a XP disk that I have and it wont boot to that either even with the correct boot order in the BIOS. I tried to do a restore and that still didnt work, when I go into F8 it gives me the choices but its telling me that its Windows XP embedded when its windows vista.
Is there a way I can get this to work, I dont care about reformatting it because I hate Vista anyways, but I dont want to spend the money on a brand new drive.

Nov 26, 2012My computer is out of warranty. On Thursday, my Dell Inspiron 1525 (bought in 2008) running Vista Operating System was working perfectly. No issues at all. On Friday morning, I went to turn on the computer and the 2 blue lights on the bottom left (the power and the one beside it) light up, the computer sounds like it is going to boot and then it beeps once and dies. It will continue to do this over and over every few seconds until I turn off the power manually.
I have tried the trick of taking out the battery and the cord, pressing the power button and then plugging the battery and cord back in, but it still did not work. The computer will not boot using just the cord (and not the battery) and vice versa.

Nov 6, 2009But all the batteries I find online say they are only 11.1v?? So is there a wrong battery in here or are battery sellers just faking buyers out by upping their advertised Wh/Ah by listing a lower than actual voltage?
This is a common practice one sees all the time in RV battery manufacturer ratings - but a 3.7 volt difference is a lot if the system requires 14.8 to operate and it's only getting 11.1.
It certainly isn't a bargain to get "higher Wh/Ah" by starving the system's voltage because then all your getting is sluggish/strained performance for a longer period of time, and if they put out the required voltage than sellers are lying about the actual caqpacity...

Dell Inspiron 1525 :: Battery Will Not Charge
Mar 4, 2013I replaced the battery on my laptop when the battery symbol changed to a x next to it. From what I understand it means the battery needs replacing. I had to get a generic battery which was for a 1525.
It charged for awhile, then stopped. When I turn on the laptop I get a message "The ac Adapter and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. And so on.
The AC Adapter I use is a Tarus 95watt, which I used before on the original battery.
Should I replace the battery or is there another possible problem, Is there a diagnostic test for the battery system?

Dec 29, 2009I bought a Inspiron 1525 in March 2008. As of today the battery is not charging. I called Dell and they told me that I needed a new battery. After spending nearly $135 for a new battery, I am still having the same issue. Unfortunately my laptop is out of warranty. I have read the various forums on here to find a solution, but still nothing. It seems this is a pretty regular issue with the Inspiron 1525 and other Dell laptops. I've updated the BIOS, I blew into both recepticals, and yes, even tried a new battery.

It worked fine for one day, then again the next day it was not booting. Then I tried removing the battery and kept the adapter on and it worked. Now is the battery faulty? Do I have to change that, or could it be some other issue?

I have had the laptop and the same battery for almost 5 years. the batery life has been degrading over the last couple years and was to the point of only having 20 minutes of life. I left my laptop in the car for a couple days when it was very cold. I brought the laptop in to back it up onto my external hard drive and notced in the lower right hand corner that the laptop was charging yet their was a red X displaying near the battery. Oct 5, 2010Inspiron 1525 - Battery will not charge with plug connected. Upgraded to current version Bios with no change in error.. Upgraded from 65W to 90W adaptor with no change in error. Swapped known good battery that had 55% power left and it would not re-charge. Put "suspect" battery that had 0% charged into another machine and it is now charging. My laptop will work on cord power and will work on battery as long as I charge it elsewhere. I suspect that something is wrong with the laptop power interface and it is not allowing the power to transfer to the battery charging function. Is this a software issue (I thought the BIOS upgrade might fix this) or a hardware failure. If it is a hardware failure, can I fix it?

Other observations
- BIOS version is A07, I can not upgrade this to A12 as, when I try to with the battery disconnected it basically tells me I have to have a battery connected to do the upgrade- when I click on the battery status button on the side of the case with the battery connected, one LED lights- when I click on the battery status button on the side of the case with the battery disconnected, no LEDs light
What are the next diagnostic steps?What is the likely fault - could replacing the battery unit solve the problem or is is the component which charges the battery which is likely to be faulty?The laptop is 18 months old but only covered by a one year warranty with Dell.
Dell Inspiron 1525 :: Plugged In Charging But Battery Not Charging
Oct 12, 2010I have had my Dell Inspiron 1525 for around two years. For the past month, when my power supply is plugged in, the battery does not charge. It has been stuck on 3% and will automatically shut down when unplugged.
I have seen that this is a very common problem, however, when hovering over the battery icon it says: plugged in, CHARGING, where as all of the other posts that I have seen say: plugged in, NOT charging.
I have tried taking the battery out and restarting but this did not work. I also drained my battery and tried to recharge but again, this did not work. My initial thought is that I may need a new battery but I just wanted to check first.

Mar 2, 2009I bought a refurbished laptop from a distributor on ebay, who I discovered doesn't know the true meaning of refurbished. But to make the long story short, after I installed a new CMOS battery,
and purchased 2 new laptop batteries because the dead CMOS killed 2 other batteries, I now discovered the laptop will not boot up using just battery power with a full 100% charge.
When I press the power button, the battery LED's light up like it was charging the battery. It's 3 green 1 amber, and it dos this about 4 times before stopping. None of the lock lights, light up (just threw that in there in case it is relevent).

When power button is pressed the LED in front of the touch pad blinks once.
The F12 with the power key does the BIST and the colors show up.
The Fn key with power key does nothing.

Feb 16, 2013Dell Inspiron(14z)- 5423 severe heating problems.
On on Dell Inspiron(14z)- 5423, I observe that the heating severe, it becomes severe within 15 min after boot-up. Is there any solution to reduce the heating of the deceive. Left side of the key board, in and around the power button and bottom side of the power button, near the fan outlet etc goes to high temperature.
Dell Inspiron(14z)- 5423 severe battery problems.
On on Dell Inspiron(14z)- 5423, I observe that the battery back-up is very very low, I think i get a back-up around 70-80 min. It very disappointing. Does Dell has any solutions to improve this?
Above two problems are really disappointing me and I think that these two issues are really major pros of Dell-5423. It really critical.

Mar 19, 2010I have a Compaq Presario V5000 that will not power up. Fans and drives don't spin up. The odd thing is it will charge the battery when hooked up to the power supply. The orange lightning bolt is solid until it is fully charged then it blinks. I have a second power supply and I get the same result.
The laptop does nothing when I remove the battery and try to run in directly on the power supply. I have re-seated the memory, hard drive, DVD drive, WiFi, keyboard, touchpad, monitor, audio board and replaced the power button board.
I also checked the power level going all the way to the processor and all is well.
HP G60 126NR :: Laptop Will Not Boot Unless CMOS Battery Removed
May 18, 2009I have a HP G60-126NR laptop. One day, it was stone cold when I press power button. I discharged the mothboard. I then installed a new CMOS battery . I am using the power adapter to power unit. When I press the power button , I get nothing toally dead, except to show the power connection light. If I remove the CMOS battery, then discharge the motherboard again, then plug in , and the laptop powers up without touching power button, and goes into setup screen to enter time. After entering time , it boots into Windows without issue. Windows SFC scan shows no error. If I shut down, not sleep, the laptop is dead again unless I discharge motherboard and start from square one. Also, I want to say that while Windows is running, if I close the lid to put to sleep, you can see that the screen is still active despite changing "what happens when I close lid". My diagnostics tells me it needs a new motherboard. PS: I did flash the BIOS off of HP Website thinking it would resolve my issue, but it did not ....

Nov 6, 2013The past few weeks, when I start my computer up, in the top left corner the screen shows the words "Boot Error". It doesn't do this every time, though. I can easily get out of this by hitting any key and it starts right up.
also the past few weeks, when I shut this computer down, the battery charge light flashes at a regular rate till the computer shuts down.
What does that mean?
FYI, I don't have a battery in this notebook because it died about 5 months ago.
