Loaded an HP 4500 printer on my 1525 and now I can't get it to boot...I am in an endless circle of Startup Repair messages that can't fix the problem. How to get my system up and running.

View 15 Replies View RelatedMy cousin has an Inspiron 1525 laptop which has had an issue of booting. Randomly one day she received the following message, "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive". It also said from below "Boot to CD by pressing any key" that the "BOOTMGR is not found".
I received the laptop in this state. I booted from the CD (Windows install disc) and was able to reinstall Vista. I then updated all the drivers and had everything working like a charm. I thought I had hit jackpot with an easy reformat. After about 4 hours of having it running perfectly, as I was installing Windows updates, I received the "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive" message. Now I cannot boot into Windows and booting from the CD no longer works.
Here are some of the specs:
T2390 Dual Core 1.86Ghz
2GB RAM
160GB SATA HDD
Is the hard drive dying? Is it the SATA controller? The motherboard? Anyone have any ideas or past experiences?
I have ran the PSA (?) and received an error code of 2000-0142. Does anyone know if this is something I can repair? I would be very grateful for any help.
She really needs this computer for school and funds are super tight around here (with the economy the way it is)

I'm having a serious problem with my laptop right now and I'm fearing the worst: a bad motherboard, a problem which I have found to be pretty common with 1525 users through Google/forum searches.
Hopefully someone out there can relate and has a remedy that will save me money/time/hassles with my laptop, which by the way has been out of warranty for about 6 months.
I purchased the 1525 last April (2008) direct from Dell. Here are the vital specs: Inspiron 1525, Intel Core 2 Duo T5550, 1.83GHz, 667Mhz, 2ML2 Cache. I've never really had any problem with it until yesterday morning. I woke up and pressed the power button after allowing the system to hibernate the night before. The power LED lights up in the bottom left and the touch-sensitive media buttons flash from side-to-side like normal
The laptop was working fine all day but then all of a sudden when I had to reboot it, the only that would come up is the dell media direct and that wont load because its telling me it cant find the drive.
I tried to put in a XP disk that I have and it wont boot to that either even with the correct boot order in the BIOS. I tried to do a restore and that still didnt work, when I go into F8 it gives me the choices but its telling me that its Windows XP embedded when its windows vista.
Is there a way I can get this to work, I dont care about reformatting it because I hate Vista anyways, but I dont want to spend the money on a brand new drive.
My computer is out of warranty. On Thursday, my Dell Inspiron 1525 (bought in 2008) running Vista Operating System was working perfectly. No issues at all. On Friday morning, I went to turn on the computer and the 2 blue lights on the bottom left (the power and the one beside it) light up, the computer sounds like it is going to boot and then it beeps once and dies. It will continue to do this over and over every few seconds until I turn off the power manually.
I have tried the trick of taking out the battery and the cord, pressing the power button and then plugging the battery and cord back in, but it still did not work. The computer will not boot using just the cord (and not the battery) and vice versa.Â
I'm trying to install Windows 8 in my DELL Inspiron 1525. But, it doesn't showing HDD on boot timing. Due to some corruption, my previous HDD is not working.. Did i have to update any HDD Driver.. if yes, so how could to i update on BIOS..???

Then following advice from other online support forums including this one, on restarting the computer then pressing F8 repeatedly I get the following message: "Boot device not found. Please install an OS on your hard disk. Hard disk (3F0).Â
I have a Inspiron Mini 1012. I created the restore factory image on a usb through the Dell DataSafe local backup program that it came with. Had no problem installing it. But when I turn on computer and boot into the usb I get an all black screen with the following. BTW the laptop has no problem starting up regularly no issues at all. Will be selling and want to wipe the drive.

Had a issue today the laptop would not boot with battery, plug the AC in and it booted fine. Battery shows 93% charged..all is about 1 year old.

The issue: I own a Travelmate 4500 and all was super, until 5 hours ago... (that's the time I already used to grow grey hair trying to find a solution )
Here exactly what happened:
(1) While working, he turned off (I thought loss of power, but the external HDD worked, so that wasn't it).
(2) I pressed Power, the white ACER screen came up, I pressed F2 to check the setup and was hoping that it was just a short clinch with minimal loss of data in windows, but... a few seconds later, the screen turned black..
(3) I pressed power again to turn it off, again to turn it on and this time, black already, no ACER white-screen at all...
(4) What happens if I press power now, is always the same > the fan starts, the DVD-Drive makes short sound + HDD starts (as it all should usually) -> but then after3 seconds or so, without beep, the fan turns off, the HDD keeps turning, but nothing else happens anymore - all black like dead

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been encoding a lot of my DVDs to h264 using Handbrake for traveling, and I have my 1410 set up to do DXVA h264 decoding with Media Player Classic HC (on Windows 7 Pro RTM x64). I used this guide to set up DXVA:

The DXVA offloading works well, and I get around 5-10% CPU usage on Task Manager. My issue is that the video quality looks poor compared with using Windows Media Player 12. H264 MKVs look great on WMP, but sometimes they stutter a little, CPU usage is around 10-20%, so I know it's doing some kind of DXVA of its own.
After reading this thread, I figured out my problem somewhat: Is there anyone that can play this H264 clip on Timeline SU3500 without 100% CPU load?
What I wanted to know is this: has there been any development in fixing the h264 deblocking bug with MPC-HC and DXVA? I'd like to use MPC-HC for my MKV viewing, because that plays video the smoothest, and it handles the audio and subtitles of several anime series that I have.
Just some background on my setup: I'm using a 1410 with the dual-core SU2300, Windows 7 Pro x64, latest version of MPC-HC, latest version of Haali Splitter, latest Intel 4 Series drivers (version 1986), and the ffdshow x64 audio-only filters. I'm also using the Divx 7 Tech Preview for thumbnails and improved performance on WMP.

press power > black screen with safe mode options appears > select Start Windows Normally >Then black Windows XP logo startup screen
appears > then screen appears saying checking disk for consistency, volume Serial Number is 2629-16F0 > after check disk completes then Acer screen appears > Then screen saying " To begin, click your username" > then click username and then desktop appears > 5 seconds later blue screen appears saying :

When trying to boot in safe mode screen says:

My lappy hung up and I switched it off.Next day, when i switched it on, after the BIOS screen , nothing happened.Just a blank screen.

I also ran linux to grab some important file but it said that

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. It has a Intel Celeron 540 1.86Ghz CPU. I would like to upgrade the cpu in it. I would like at least a Core 2 Duo. What processor will work well and fit in this laptop.

I was watching a Family Guy episode off the internet probably not a good idea, but About half way through it started to freeze up and skipping.
It then immediately went to a blue screen for a about 5 seconds with numbers and letters and shut off. I turned it back on. It loads a little and comes up to Windows has found a error or something. Says Start in Safe Mode (Windows Recovery Repair) SOmething like that .....
I'm planning to buy a portable speaker for my Dell Inspiron 1525. Is there any type of speaker that will work best,or will any kind speaker work on my laptop?
I prefer the speaker to be portable and can be used also with any audio devices.
There both basically the same. Which one would you get? Im going to be getting one of them from best buy in the new few days but dont know which one to get. Im going to be financing it so it has to be from there. They got the 1525 for $750 with a core 2 duo t5750, 3gb ram and 250gb hardrive. I dont know if they got the Studio 15 but on the dell site the configuration seems the same!

Here's what my laptop does.
It doesn't play DVDs. I try 10 times and then it successfully plays a DVD, but the first few tries it freezes up after 1 preview.
It makes a clicking noise on the inside at any given time during use. It makes me think it's sitting at a bad angle, so I move it around. I don't think that's the problem; I sit it flat
I need a laptop mostly for travel and word processing, watching streaming video online, chating ect... but to be able to play WoW when I travel would be icing in the cake.
These are the stats. What kind of playability would I get with this? At 600 bucks it seems like a decent laptop for travel....
So the hinges on this laptop have broken TWICE, requiring my girlfriend to send it in twice, and waiting for the laptop around a month each time. My Gf is last year of highschool and really needs her laptop for school work, and has no other computer.
The problem this time is, that apparently one of the sticks of ram has gone bad and gives a read/write error when the computer is booted up, and gives a bunch of errors when the on-board diagnostics are run. Warranty was extended until the end of this year, but I want Dell to send us a new laptop since she needs her laptop right now. Is there any way I can get her a new updated inspiron? Apparently hinges are a big issue with the 1525, and I can tell that her hinges are going to break in 2-3 months ...
