I have reformatted my old Inspiron 6400 in preperation of selling it, however I used to leave the Bluetooth module turned off the majority of the time when not needed to conserve power.
The module was turned off at the time of the reformat. Since reformatting I cannot get the Bluetooth to work. I can see it in the BIOS and I have loaded the drivers, but it's still failing to work or recognise it
so I recently ordered my Studio XPS 16 and hopefully it will be coming 5/15/09(crossing fingers).
I am debating if I should reformat when I get it, I am a little nervous about doing it.
I was just thinking about manually uninstalling some of the crap that comes with it, like the facial recognition since I know I wont use it. Will I see a noticeable performance increase if I reformat? Or should I just uninstall the things I wont use?
I haven't been able to connect to LAN (Ethernet) connections since I acquired this laptop, I have installed the correct drivers and tried with different OS but none of them have been a success.
I tried in different Ethernet connections (different houses too) but I still get no internet on my laptop, it recognizes that there's something connected but no internet at all. Since then I have been using a Wireless Router always...
I love my new laptop but it has a few issues that i need some help fixing:
1) Bluetooth not working (Yes there IS a module in my computer): I went into my bios and checked to make sure the option for bluetooth was checked. When my computer boots, the bluetooth LED comes on but as soon as it exits the BIOS and boots Windows 7 the LED turns off. I've looked for new drivers, and looked around other forums for a solution for this but have found no direct answer. EDIT: Solved. Download the driver here
2) Sound (I have The High Def Audio with SRS premium sound. IDT drivers)- When playing sound on my computer with the A01 bios version, and having the IDT audio drivers, I noticed a lot of weird things going on with the sound. It like bottomed out and had a lot of vibration or something. I dont know how to describe it but it was VERY distorted. Since then i've upgraded my BIOS to A05 and uninstalled my IDT audio drivers and let windows install its own high definition audio drivers. It seem a lot better but there is still some distortion there were it seems like the computer is just vibrating too much or something.. Is there a fix for this? I read in another thread that he had to take out the keyboard and adjust some of the screws that were messing with the speakers.
*Also when I plug in my headphones, i notice some scratching and weird sounds when im not playing any music. Its like I can hear the hardrive. However, the problem is inconsistent. Is there a way to fix this?
*Also are there some recommended settings for the SRS premium sound (if i solve this and get the sound working right)?
EDIT: Visit this thread to upgrade your BIOS to A05. It fixed this problem to me, and besides, its the latest BIOS version. It's currently not on the dell site (typical dell) Also Uninstall the IDT SRS Premium audio software an go to the Dell site and download just the IDT Driver. It fixed the clarity problem i was having too.
3) Wireless card- This must have been a A01 BIOS issue but since I upgraded to A05, it has been fixed. Basically when running uTorrent, the card would completely crash. It would make Firefox crash, and any other internet required app
Also it would be EXTREMELY helpful if someone would create a thread with all of the latest S-XPS 16 drivers (1640 and 1645). That way much time spent searching and troubleshooting can be avoided if we can just have a thread with all the drivers displayed in one location. Dell is horrendous when it comes to the latest drivers
Oh and here is my system build: Dell Studio XPS 1645 Windows 7 Home Premium Intel Core i7 720QM 6GB DDR3 at 1333MHz RGBLED screen AT 4670 - 1GB High Definition Audio with SRS Preium Sound Intell 5300 WLAN 3x3 DEll Wireless 370 bluetooth Module (2.1+EDR)
I just finished reformatting and I'm on the desktop, but the highest resolution it'll go to is 1400x1050. I had 1080p before! Is this a driver problem because I have not installed them yet
Also I'm clicking the Eject Button and the DVD isn't ejecting
I have bought a new inspiron 15 3521 & after going through the community i think i have made a mistake of buying this particular model. Still trying to resolve my Bluetooth problem. I have installed dual booting Windows 7 & 8 also
I know there is two partitions on my harddrive; one for everything (C and the other is recovery (D..
When I use my vista disc that it came with does it automatically do it for me or do I select which partition to reformat (or reformat both partitions)?
Then what do I do with the drivers disc? install during reformat or after?
I am having a problem with a 1501 reformat and need help.
I have done a complete reformat and everything seems to work fine except for one thing---I cannot get on the Internet. This unit was wireless capable before the reformat, but now doesn't seem to show any wireless capability and will not log on to the net even through broadband.
I am guessing that there is a driver problem with the network adapter? I have tried to download a dell driver to DVD from a different computer, but no luck so far. System Devices shows 5 different devices that are "questionable" with no drivers, including a "network controller" and an "ethernet controler".
I have the CD's that came with the unit, including a "driver devices" CD. I have tried to use that CD but no luck so far.
I am a rookie at this but have done reformats before without any problem. I am a student and this computer is something of a "repair project" for learning purposes.
Purolator dropped off the laptop today and I was quite excited. I tried the Bluray and it's definitely worth the extra money. However, some things are going wrong.
First, the damn touchpad sucks. I want Synaptics back. But at this point all I can do is BAWW about it, so whatever. But when I try to install the drivers, the cursor flips out every time I touch the pad at all. It goes all over the screen in random directions.
Second, my bluetooth doesn't seem to be working. I installed the drivers on Windows Vista and Windows 7, but neither of them yielded results. The drivers install without a problem and then tell me to enable Bluetooth using the radio button. The radio button is already enabled, as Wi-Fi is working, but there is still no Bluetooth option in the Control Panel or anywhere else for that matter.
Third, Bluray movies seem to not work with WMP. What's the problem? If it's not supported, what program do you guys suggest I use for Bluray movies?
Fourth, no matter what I do, Catalyst Control Center just won't install. The drivers are there, but CCC just won't work at all, let alone show up in my desktop context menu.
I have a new 17R 7720 SE- that worked great when I got it, but after all the Dell updates- the Waves Maxx doesn't work, and if I use it for more than an hour the screen turns white and the Laptop screen then goes blank! I've called Dell and they told me the 17R 7720 SE runs hot because of the internal 2gb nVidia 650 Video Card.
I spent the money for a Cooler Master Laptop cooler with 3 Fans (separate A/C adapter to run this thing) and the Cooler Master sounds like a jet airplane under the Dell- and the Dell screen still shuts off. The only way to solve this is use an external monitor... if I would have known this I never would have order this worthless Inspiron.
I write this from my trusty Latitude D630- it's never let me down... the 17R 7720 SE has nothing but trouble! Dell recommended I reformat the Hard Drive, and re-install the factory software from the System Restore Disc...
i have installed windows 7 on my hp 250 g3 which was with DOS when i bought it. And now i am not able to even find the bluetooth key to turn the bluetooth on or may be the drivers are not installed or what?
My laptop's bluetooth is not work.I don't know what to do.I reinstall the driver but the same.In Device Manager ,it say that window has stop this device because it has report problems.(Code 43).
i have windows 7 64bit and can't get Bluetooth to find any device have updated driver and check every thing and it's still not work, when run dell diagnostic it's say all good but can't find my phone or any other device.
I recently received my new Vostro 1320 and i'm quite satisfied with the system thus far.
I would however really like to put my own copy of XP on it (the system came with Vista Basic). I have my own copy of XP and all the XP drivers from dell's support site.
I've heard that there might be some issues regarding the BIOS that might make the reformat less than simple. Can anyone provide any advice about it or should I go about it as usual.
to reformat my sisters Air... She is now visiting me and all the disks are in US. Computer is really working fine but she desperately wants to reformat it... Anyway, can I use disks that came with other mac to reformat it or it should be specifically Air's disks?
Bluetooth is not at all working on my dell inspiron 15 3000 series 3542 after i installed win 8. I downloaded several Bluetooth drivers from dell, but nothing seems to work. I Have a Bluetooth icon on my task bar but when i connect device it says"no device found."I have run many tests but no luck so provide me with correct Bluetooth software and installation instructions.

The BT Moust is a Dell Travel Mouse F299K. When I add it through the normal bluetooth menu, it seems to add correctly, but the blue light on the mouse keeps blinking.
I updated the BIOS to A12- that got it working for about 15 minutes. Then it quit and I'm back to where I started. I tried the mouse on two other machines and it works fine. Even on a Macbook Pro.
I have a dell XPS m1530, and because I am pretty sure I had a virus that my antivirus software could not pick up I reinstalled Vista.
I ended up reformatting the partition it was on before installing over, I also reformatted the recovery partition. But, apparently XPS system comes with a MediaDirect partition that I was unable to reformat (the windows set up did not let me do this).
I am wondering now if it's possible for the virus to have lived through the reformat in the MediaDirect partition. If so, how can I reformat that partition?
I've followed the instructions for the system restore / format HD, but when I press F8, I do not get the option to restore etc...its just takes me back 'home' to the start up page.
I have all my reinstallation disks from purchase - is there any other method I can use? I need to reformat and restore ....
how to restore / reformat an Inspiron 720 to factory settings? Its 6 years old now and in need of a reformat.online ive found several answers all suggest pressing F8 on system stsrtup and doing it there.however when i do that and choose Repair My PC i then only get 5 options
None of these seem to allow me to reset my PC to its original state.I didnt have a disc with the PC, there is a recovery partition on the hard drive so i presume i should br able to reformat from that.
I have an HP Pavilion dm4-1150ea running Windows 7 64bit.
I bought a bluetooth audio receiver and it paired with the laptop and installed a driver. I was able to stream audio to the receiver but when I closed the laptop and later opened it, it stopped working.
I looked in device manager and the bloetooth radios were no longer there and there were no bluetooth devices under Network Adapters. They had been there previously.
I rebooted a few times and it still didn't work. I got it to work once and it coincided with putting the power lead in. However, it didn't work for long.
HP Wireless Assistant says that Bluetooth is disabled in Device Manager.
I tried downloading the latest bluetooth driver from the HP site but it won't install because bluetooth isn't running.
At some point I got a message saying that a USB device had failed. I can see a warning icon on an "Unknown Device" in the USB Controllers section of Device Manager.
I tried to do a system restore but that failed because it couldn't get access to a file.
i am using win 8 64bits hp e026ax machine.sir i am not able to use bluetooth n hp coolsensor in my machine..i dont what exactly is the problem..they shows error like..
