Aug 23, 2009Anyone know how hard it is to disconnect the webcam on an M1530? I never use it and would like to unplug it for personal reasons. Basically where does it plug into?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy webcam wont power on, even when I open the Dell webcam console.
On other occasions, it will repeatedly turn itself on and off, with the "budup" noise, like the same noise when you connect a usb device.
It gets very irritating, and it can happen 50 times before it stops(like the other night when I was playing a game,
and was doing nothing in relation to webcams). Its as if im opening and closing the lid, but the lcd isnt effected(perhaps its the lid connection for the webcam wire, if that exists??)
I opened up the M1530, and checked the connection to the motherboard, thanks to another thread here ... M1530 webcam not working....
And the pic supplied here http://forum.notebookreview.com/atta...2&d=1223851321
That seems to be fine, and since reassembled, it wont turn on at all. That happened before I deassembled it, so its not a problem I caused, and could just start to repeatedly turn itself on and off again at any stage.
I just received my M1530 from Dell and noticed that there's a gap between the black border trimming around the webcam and the top of the lid.
If you have the laptop open like you're using, then at the top of the black trim above the screen it starts flush with the colored part on the lid of the laptop but slowly separates towards the middle (right below the silver notch to open the lid) and then goes flush again on the other side.
Is this a normal build? I can post a pic if it's not clear in the post.
Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7, my computer crashes when the webcam is started. Whether it's an online app or Skype, as soon as I try to start up my webcam I get a BSOD
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I've been having this m1530 since xmas of '08 and this problem has occurred since day 1. Basically, I bought this xps m1530 from the dell outlet and have loved it except for this d*** webcam. Originally had vista 32bit on it. Just upgraded to Win7 a couple days ago(loving it BTW), thinking it may solve it but nope. Everytime I try to start the webcam it sends my comp into a BSOD and then it restarts and functions as if nothing happened. No matter if I try using it through the webcam center, or on a video chatroom. I'm thinking it has to be driver related but I'm not sure.
View 7 Replies View Relatedjust had the dell tech round on friday to replace my motherboard, and have since discovered my webcam isnt working.
I get the message "No supported camera detected, please plug in to continue" in Dell Webcam Manager.
Also the webcam does not show up in device manager.
When the system powers on the webcam light does not flash...
So basically, i think he forgot to plug in the webcam to the new motherboard, or its a loose connection, does this sound about right??
If so would it be a reasonably easy job for me to rectify?
I cant really be bothered with going through the hassle of diagnosing the fault with someone over the phone who i cant really understand, then have to find some free time to have the tech come round and fix it, when he will probably mess something else up in the process.
I have the service manual for this laptop (M1530) but cant seem to find anything in there.
every time I leave my M1330 on over to download and next day come to my laptop and usually disconnected from the wireless internet ........
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got BT Infinity and whenever I download something or run speed test (speedtest.com) my computer disconnects from the internet and shortly after connects again. How do i fix this? I am running a dell latitude d600 with windows xp. Before bt infinity i just had a normal bt home hub and that worked fine. I don't think this is happening on other computers connected to the network but i can't be sure. I am using Wi-Fi, not ethernet and i haven't tried connecting via ethernet yet but the hub is in a different room and i cant move anything from room to room because of the set up.
A previous answer i got was to re intall my wireless router. I thought this had worked, but it only suspended the time before the disconnect for about 1 min. Then it just went back to disconnecting straight away again.
I have a Latitude E5520 that is having some strange issues. If I have i plugged in to a power cord, close the lid and disconnect the power cord, the unit shuts off. Sometimes when undocking, the unit will shut off as well.
I have checked the power settings and confirmed that when the lid is closed, no action should be taken.
The battery is fully charged and the laptop runs fine on the battery.
This has the latest BIOS revision A09.....
if I could get Dell Webcam Center for my HP DV5Z-1000. If it is possible, I would like to know how.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just bought 2 weeks ago new ProBook with Windows 7 Professional in it. Laptop itself is nice but I'm having constant struggle with my internet connection. I'm having Wlan in the house and I have my old Sony Vaio, This ProBook and one Axus tablet using it. (not at the same time). Router itself is from local internet/sky chanel provider with their own covers so I dont know the manufacturer/model and in this case it does not matter. Internet works totally fine with Axus and Sony but not with this. I can see problem is not Windows7 or router.
Problem is some HP own Client security setting program. Nice to have one but I can see there is some firewall that is turning the connection down and after some "resetting", "let windows solve the problem" and restarting etc it lets itself get back up and after a while disconnects it again. Yellow ! sign turn on the connection bar and it says "limited connection". I have almost full signal all the time so even that is not reason.
And again, I do not have any problems with other devices. It is OFF several minutes 80% of the times when windows starts. Then with some fighting, it turns on. Sometimes even without me doing nothing. I just can't find the way/link to turn off the HP "security program". I do use F-Secure Internet Security 2015 to secure my HP against spyprograms and viruses so it is enough for me. HP security program is nice but if it turns so much problems for me I will turn it off.
I had this problem with local internet area disconnecting and reconnecting (one second it shows it is enabled, other ethernet cable is unplugged, and that keeps repeating), which was caused by Ubuntu, I highly suspect. So I updated Bios to A11 and it charmingly fixed everything.
However, problem arose again. I've installed Ubuntu again on dual boot and tried updating Nvidia drivers which did not work well and broke Ubuntu again, which caused this internet problem again on windows 7 somehow (yes, this happened for second time . But this time I can't update Bios, or overwrite it's update).
I did not expect that after bios update this would happen again. I tried downloading various drivers from dell driver support. So, is there a way to overwrite same version of Bios, or (downloading some sort of drivers i might have mist, ect.?)
I have the Beats Special Edition 15-p058n and my USB 3.0 WD My Passport which works fine on 3.0 Windows 7 is connecting and disconnecting continually every 10 seconds or so.
I have checked the internet and found a lot of similar issues so could be a combination of the hardware and Windows 8.1?
I have tried to turn off the power save setting for the usb root hubs in device manager to see if it is the extra power that the usb 3 gives, but this has not worked.
My son's desktop (HP Pavilion 500-164) keeps disconnecting from our wireless interner (Netgear 03 router) when downloading. We have reset the modem, changed the channel, installed the network driver from HP website, and went through all the troubleshooting tips. He is receiving an error message when booting up (there was a problem starting C:WindowsSystems32LogiLDA.dll the specified module could not be found). Could this be related to the problem we are having with his internet connection?
View 3 Replies View Relatedim having a problem with my 1525 inspiron laptop, which i have had for a couple of years. The problem started when installed windows 7. My wireless minicard stops working anytime i try playing an online game. The mouse starts freezing and then the wireless card would stop working. The only way can it working again is to reboot the laptop or put it to sleep the start it up again.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased a Lenovo Y510p and for some reason everytime I try to plug my iPhone 4 into ANY of the USB ports on the laptop, it just repeatedly connects and reconnects every second or so. I've installed iTunes already so I'm pretty sure the right drivers for the iPhone are there. Any other USB device connects fine when plugged in, except for my iPhone. I've tried multiple USB cables too. It charges fine if I plug it into the "USB always on" port when the laptop is off, but not when the laptop is turned on.

I recently purchased an Insignia powered USB 3.0 hub to connect 2 External HDDS to my PC via 1 of 2 USB 3.0 ports.
HDDS -
1. Western Digital My Passport Ultra 500 GB
2. 500 GB SATA drive from another laptop put in an enclosure.
Both work just fine plugged in alone, plugged into the hub with the hub plugged into the NON 3.0 USB port.
But the second I plug the hub into a USB 3.0 port, wifi goes out, and sometimes 1 of the drives are not found.
When I unplug the hub, wifi continues to work.
I have tried doing this with the hub plugged into power and not, same results. What is the issue causing a wifi issue? I dont understand how any of this is even related to a network connection.
my Lenovo W530 Windows 7 64 bit USB's have been randomly disconnecting and connecting, the things i have plugged into them are my mouse and an external hard drive, and they just repeatedly turn off then on again? i've done some research where people have gone to their device manager then to their USB Root Hub Properties and was told to uncheck the option as show below for all the root hubs but it still does it.

A few days before I was going to shipping my Studio 15 off. I looked in the box and low and behold I found the Dell Webcam Center disk that I originally thought that Dell had forgotten to include.
Upon installation I found that the specific version of Dell WC that came with my Studio 15 is not the same one that you find at the downloads center on support.dell.com.
I could never get the downloaded Dell WC to work, even after numerous chats with technical support. No matter how many times I contacted Dell about this, they claimed there is only one version of Dell Webcam Center. Clearly that isn't true .....
I had my display replaced a couple weeks ago. never thought to test it before he left. now I wanted to turn it on but it says it can't be found.
how do i find out if its actually connected? no lights flash when the pc boots up. i always thought with vista it would flash a blue light at boot up.
What software are people using to take snapshots with the integrated webcam under Windows 7?
