if i turn the pc off, when i turn back on, no boot up, no chance to press f2 f12 f8 nothing. the only thing that happens is the disk read light stays on, and the caps lock and looks like system lock lights keep flashing. the system will then eventually power off. i removed the battery (the laptop was always plugged into power) and it started. i then placed the battery back and it started normally.
My laptop won't boot. I press the power button, the power button lights and I hear the system fan run. Then it shuts off and the caps lock LED flashed about 20 times, then turns off if under battery power. If on AC power then the LED stays steady after flashing. Screen never turns on. Late yesterday and late today the computer started hanging. Usually a restart would fix it for a short while. But now it's dead dead. I suspected overheating so I did a bit of digging and figured out how to remove and clean the fan intake. It's was clogged up pretty good, but that hasn't fixed the problem and the laptop is now cool to touch on the bottom..
I have an inspiron 9400 that has been having some issues lately. As of right now, when I push the power button, the power light comes on but it does not boot or even post. The Num lock stays on and the caps lock and scroll lock lights blink for about 40 seconds then the whole thing shuts off. what those blinking lights mean. I have search dell support but have found nothing.
I have a 1 year old inspiron 1520 laptop which has suddenly stopped working.
When I press the power button, the power light comes on but I don't hear a fan whirring, the battery light also comes on. The screen is totally blank and the caps lock icon continually flashes and after about a minute the computer shuts down.
This happens with the battery attached or connected to the mains.
My Pg Up/Dwn/Home/End keys are with the arrow keys, but to access them, I have to press the function key. I like the arrows for a game, but for normal business work, I would prefer to have them locked as being Pg Up/Dwn/Home/End.
My dell laptop can't turn on. When I press power button, there have no activity. I see Num lock LED is OFF, Caps Lock LED is ON and Scroll lock is always blinking. LCD screen not display anything.
Here is the screenshot of my LED blinking.
1. I dissemble my laptop and remove unnecessary components and cable. I have tested and connected only with Motherboard , CPU and RAM.
2. I tried to replace with new RAM. But it can't solve problem.
3. I tried to remove Battery, only AC power can't solve problem.
4. I tried to replace new CMOS battery. But it can't.
The little LED on the shift key sometimes is on but Caps Lock is not on (all keys still in lower case). This is always the case when I log on freshly. pressing Shift two times to enable Caps Lock (screen indicator comes on, ALL CAPS NOW) and pressing it two times again turns off Caps Lock as well as the LED indicator. But sometimes it still behaves eradically. Any software update on this?
I have been having problems getting my laptop to boot. I've performed a laundry list of repair options and nothing has worked. As of this moment, I've managed to narrow the query down to the flashing LED light code FLASHING Num Lock-SOLID Caps Lock-Solid Scroll Lock. I've done some further research and I've only managed to get sketchy information at best. It is saying that the problem has something to do with the processor or the system dock--if that information is reliable. I've had contradicting answers on that. I've reseated the processor several times, even switching the processor with a virtually identical processor from my WORKING Inspiron 1501 with no change. And just to confirm that the processor initially seated in the 1526 is working, I have put it in the 1501 and it works. I've swapped compatible components between both machines and everything has worked after being seated in the 1501.
I have an issue with my Latitude D400 laptop which has now occurred twice. Basically, after operating normally and shutting down properly it has stopped booting. After the POST screen it simply hangs at a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left corner.
Using the recovery console to repair the MBR and boot sector on the HDD has no effect. Neither does a repair installation of Windows XP Pro. The first time it happened I backed up, wiped the disc and started with a fresh installation of XP Pro.
However, it's now happened again. The hard disc is completely undamaged (all files are intact) but will not boot at all.
I bought Hp Pavilion dv6 about 11 months ago. When I tried to turn it on today morning, it didnt boot and Caps Lock light is blinking 3 times.I searched on internet and found out that its a memory problem.
Reason for this is to flash your BIOS the safer way.
Windows has alot of services that can potentially hang the flashing process, hence DOS Mode where no other process is running is the safe way to flash.
First of all get the package here
Extract all the files to Desktop
Go into the folder.
You should see a HP Drive Key Utility.
Install it.
Open the Program With Administrative Permission with Right Click as shown below:.......
I was flashing the newest BIOS to my SR290 last night and in the middle of flashing it froze. I waited quite a while to make sure it wasn't just taking its sweet time but eventually had to pull the battery as holding the power button didn't even do anything.
So I wait a few and then try to boot it back up and it won't power up at all. I plug it in and the charging light won't turn on.
I Have an Inspiron 1520, 2gb ram, 8400M GSI installed a webcam driver and tried to reboot.Num-lock Scroll-Lock Caps-Lock on not flashing. No beeps. No dell logo. After 5 secs, it restarts. I don't have a battery. The power indicator is on. My AC adapter light is also on.What I've tried so far:Removed both 512 ram 1 at a time and still the same results. Tried other ram.Unplugged and plugged back in the CMOS battery. The battery works on another laptop. Removed WLan card.
I have a HP G26 notebook pc, it has windows 7 on it and when I turn it on it only get to the windows start up screen with the little flashing logo and won't boot any further.. I have tried system repair, my back up disks.....
I'm trying to fix my fathers laptop so he won't have to spend money on a new one. Here's the problem:
When I press the power button to boot the laptop it does not boot, it just flashes the power light(s) on and off at maybe 1 flash per second. I've tried removing the RAM-sticks one and one, removing the HDD, removing the battery and removing the DVD reader (not all at the same time, of course). None of those helped, it still did the same thing.
Then I tried to blind flash the bios from a CD, the laptop comes on with the fan at full blast, the DVD reader comes on and it stays on, but it never finishes and powers off.
Flashing the bios. I have a Aspire 5810TZ. I boot it up and it just says 'acer' and won't go any further. I went to the download page for BIOS on us.acer.com and it has a zip file with 5 files:
What do I do? I have tried copying the files to a USB and powering on with Fn-Esc held down. After letting go of the power button and holding Fn-Esc a different screen appears after 30 seconds. I let go and have given it 30 minutes but it is not doing anything. I have read online from other people the power button should be blinking. Do I need to rename one of the files.
Acer 17" notebook Aspire 9425WSMi. Vista Home Prem SP1.
How do I get this PC to always start up with the Number Lock on/active? Given that the PC has a full size keyboard, it is a nuisance to always have to manually activate.
There does not appear to be any option in the BIOS settings that I have been able to access at startup.
I have a G500 laptop. When it boots up, I would like the Num Lock to automatically be turned on. I can't see anything in the BIOS that would do that. Any other places I should be looking? Any other way to keep it turned on?
I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4065dx laptop with Windows 7 64 bit that will not boot up or go to the Bios screen. When the laptop is turned on, you hear the system fan start, power button light comes on, and the caps lock button starts to continually blink once every three to four seconds. The HDD activity light is also on but is solid red with no blinking. No changes have been made to the laptop and it was working perfectly fine just a few hours earlier. I have attempted the hard reset of the computer and reseating of the memory cards, but the laptop still would not boot.
I have been having trouble with my Dell Laptop recently. I have a dell inspiron 6400 and when i try to power it on it wont turn on. When I press the power button , the num lock and caps lock LED'S begin to flash for a few seconds before going off.
The keyboard on my HP Pavilion g6 is locked. It was working and then my cat ran across the keyboard and must have hit a key that locked it. The mouse pad works. No cap lock or number lock on. I have already tryed:
1) going in control panel and unchecking everything in make keyboard easier to use.
Most of the time the laptop will not boot up and I get the single blinking LED on Caps Lock and Num Loc. However, if I am persistent and keep trying the start button it will boot up. After it boots up every thing works fine. I can even do a restart and it will stop and boot back up. But if I do a shutdown then I will have to push the start button several times (it will come up with the single blinking LED on Caps Lock and Num Loc) before it will boot up again.
Recently, I turned on the on screen indicators for caps and num lock by accident when trying to get the pop-up window to stop opening every time I hit one of the buttons. Now I don't know how to disable it, and it's a pain while playing games.
Solutions tried: Going to preference, there is no "On-Screen Display Tab" Going to run the regedit.
what application gives the osd for the caps lock/num lock that normally shows at the bottom right of the screen, I have volume osd so it must be separate to that.
I wiped and re-installed my os yesterday.
The 5810T does not have an led for caps lock or num lock so the osd indicator is invaluable.
I am having a problem with my keyboard on my dell studio 1737. When you press certain keys on the keyboard the adjacent keys are activated as well as the key itself. I've tried various techniques I've read about to correct the problem such as removing power from the laptop for an extended period of time and installing new bios drivers but nothing seems to work. From the information I can gather this is a common problem with this model of Dell laptop. What is the best way to correct this problem. Will replacing the keyboard correct this problem or is there some other problem causing the malfunction?
I'm trying to boot from legacy boot from my new dell 7000 series. however when i change from uefi to legacy i have no boot option. the whole boot list is empty.
i have called dell and the support desk told me dell has no support for legacy :S that means no windows 7 on my dell or any other os that uses non uefi...... i think the bios is corrupt is the whole list is simply missing.
Hey guys I have had my SXPS 1645 for almost 8 months now and I recently have had issues with it. Whenever I turn it on, it seems to boot fine (maybe a few more clicks then usual) and the boot up screen is tinted blue and the screen flashes. The OS seems to work fine as it logs in and everything, yet the screen tint and flashing remains. I assume its a problem with the RGBLED display, but I am not sure how exactly I can remedy this problem.
I was flashing my bios of my dell xps studio 16 (i don't know which 17xx it is... it has i5 and 4gb of ram. some ati vidfeo card with 1gb of vram, 15.6 LCD)
And then it froze for about an hour. So I unplugged power, took out battery and tried to boot it up. To my dismay, nothing showed up on the screen.
I have so much stuff on my HD that I need.
What are some ways to fix my laptop? Do I have to send it to dell? Will I lose all my data?
