Apr 28, 2013May I know that can my Inspiron 1440 laptop processor upgrade to i7??

View 1 RepliesI just realized that both the new Inspiron 14 and Studio 14z are numbered as the "1440". Usually Dell avoids duplicating the model number- Inspiron 1525, Studio 1535, Inspiron 1545, Studio 1555, etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Pentium M (730) 1.6 GHz processor. For the moment instead of buying a new laptop I'm interested in upgrading the processor.
The Bios shows that it can detect and appears to be able to use a dual core processor but none of the 9300's were ever sold that way.
The motherboard uses a m-FCPGA socket. Does anyone know or has tried to use a dual core processor in this motherboard? I'm even curious as a project but,
if someone has info/data on this I would truly appreciate the info. I have a 250 GHz harddrive and 2GHz on the RAM. Looking to speed this thing up a bit before finally putting her out to pasture.
I just bought a inspiron 1545 and after buying it I have a little bit of buyers remorse concerning the processor. I opted for the Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 at 2.1Ghz, but now I think I would have been better off with a faster processor as I am planning on keeping this laptop for as long as possible.
The two processors within my budget that I am looking to upgrade to are:
P8700 (2.53Ghz) (currently an option for the inspiron 1545 configuration)
or
P8800 (2.66Ghz)
My question is whether or not the inspiron 1545 can handle these processors? I know that on the spec page for the inspiron 1545 it says that it can handle any core 2 duo. I just want to make sure that is true. I tried asking a dell tech person but he was unsure/didn't really know anything.
In addition, would I be able to upgrade to a P9700 if I wanted to?
I recently checked prices of laptop processors and found a 3.06ghz Pentium 4-M (socket 478, 533 fsb) for $55. This is the right socket, and I know the Inspiron 9300 can handle a 533 fsb, but is this processor going to work? I'm currently running the 1.6ghz at 533 fsb.
I know this processor was never an option for the 9300, hence the concern, but if it'll work for $55 why not? And, if it doesn't work, what is the highest I can move up to?
I'm debating whether to get the Inspiron 1440 or the Studio XPS 1340.
Can anyone speak for the build quality of the new Inspiron 1440?
I like the magnesium alloy chassis and sturdy backlit keyboard on the SXPS 13, but it will cost me about $200 more when configured to similar specs.
This laptop will be my main PC when I leave for school: which means it needs to be light/small/durable enough to carry into classes everyday, with the power and adequate cooling to use as a desktop replacement as well.
I don't want any significant flexing and cracking sounds (which many consumer-grade black/silver plastic chassis laptops have) when picking it up around the edges.
These are the configurations I came up with in which the Inspiron costs about $200 less than the SXPS:
Inspiron 1440: P8600, 4GB DDR2-800MHz, 900p LED, 320GB 5400RPM, GMA4500MHD
SXPS 1340: P8600, 4GB DDR3-1067MHz, CCFL, 320GB 7200RPM, GF 9400M
My daughters 1440 works online for about 15min and then it loses connection to the router and wont show any available wireless networks,
I won't work until I reset the system and then it works for about 15 min again.I reinstalled the wireless driver and even tried to restore it to a few weeks before it started doing that but still does it.
Could the wireless card be bad? Has anyone had this problem before? Does anyone know which card is in there an ho to get to it?
I have a Inspiron 1440 and I am thinking of adding bluetooth to it,do I need a harness or does it plug in and witch module does it call for, install pictures.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just received a 1440 as a system exchange. Mine has the Intel graphics. Is it safe to assume that the Intel graphics are integrated into the MOBO? The 1440 is apparently available with an ATI 512MB card.
I'm guessing there is no chance I could pick one up and stick it in this thing?
It still shocks me that I have the ability to throw 8gigs in a laptop. This is a replacement for an E1405 and my I9300 is still my go-to laptop.
I have a inspiron 1440 that is my daughters and I would like to change the case top to pink.Has anyone changed that cover and does anyone know where to get a Dell cover?

I just inherited a Dell Inspiron 1440 running Windows Home 7, which has been very lightly used, but has enough additional stuff installed, that "sluggish" is the only appropriate word for its performance. I want to do a Factory Reset. The directions written on page 58-59 of the paper Setup Guide are incorrect.
1. Turn on computer.
2. Press F8 to get Advanced Boot Options
3. Select Repair Your Computer
4. Go to Systems Recovery Options
5. Click "Dell Factory Image Restore" THIS OPTION DOES NOT EXIST.
Instead, I am shown "Startup Repair" "System Restore" "System Image Recovery" "Windows Memory Diagnostic" and "Command Prompt" NONE OF THESE is what I am looking for.Choosing "System Restore" gives me a bunch of restore points from the last 9 months only, and not the original factory settings.Choosing "System Image Recovery" is not appropriate either, as the previous owner did not create a system image backup.
My laptop, DELL Inspiron 1440 Model number (42L) will not let me log in. My hint is 'mtw dog' but I can't figure out the correct password and I can't find it anywhere.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe problem isnt actually with my computer but my computer illiterate friend just called asking for help. According to my friend every time he sets it down the dvd drive ejects.
It was purchased in August of 2009 and was treated very well and never dropped or abused in any way. I had him do a virus and spyware scan and nothing Windows is also to date.
I forgot my dell inspiron 1440 laptop BIOS admin password so i can not change bios settings. reset my bios admin password
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having serious problems with my laptop when on lin slowing down and freezing up. i have had it to a coupe pc shops and the problem is worse now than before . Is there a way i can i can wipe and reload the operating system using say left alt and f10 keys from the ghost drive like i can on my acer laptop?
View 1 Replies View Relatedif it is possible to upgrade my Studio 1535's processor (Intel C2D T5750, 2.0GHz). I cheaped out on most of the parts when I first bought this thing, as I was somewhat strapped for cash, so I went with the bare-minimum processor, but now I think I can do better.
So, is it possible to replace my processor? If so, what are some compatible models? I'm looking for at least 2.4GHz, for the record.
I was looking through some of my spare parts the other day and I came across a Pentium M 2.13GHz processor I removed from an old laptop I had a while back. The only problem is it was just thrown in a drawer with some other laptop parts, where its sat for about a year.
I was just wondering if anything bad could come from using it in my laptop since it hasn't been stored in ideal conditions. I looked at it pretty closely and there don't appear to be any bent pins or anything.
I have just bought Inspiron 1440. My configuration is - Intel T6600, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 320 GB Hard Disk and 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330.
Further I have also taken 1 Year Complete Cover Accidental Damage Protection plan.
I am thinking of doing a clean install of windows7 on the machine with two key objectives:
Although the Dell Inspiron doesnot come with a lot of bloatware still it has few programs which I dont require.
Partitioning of the C Drive .....
I have a Refurbished Dell 1440 Inspiron, Windows 07. I got this notebook 3.5years back and I was using this laptop without any problem till now. But suddenly it appears like Bootmgr Corrupt , Cannot boot the laptop. I searched many forums and websites to find a solution for my Issue. I got to know that i have to use recovery cd to recover the boot files but i lost my CD long back, i tried to download from URL... but i couldn't find it.... Any better way to get my 1440 back to the working state.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 14 1440 froze and i decided to manually turn it on and back on. I pushed, and held the power button until it turned off. Once it turned off i decided to take the battery out (for no apparent reason). So i took it out and put it back it (i didn't really touch anything). Once i put it back in i tried turning it on by pressing the power button, but it wouldn't turn on. The screen is black, there are no blue lights that are on. (These lights are on when you turn the laptop on).I tried the taking out the battery and hold power button for 30-60secs trick, but no luck. I also have taken out my laptop's ram and re-inserted it (same with my hard drive). Oh and my battery is fully charged. I tried searching the net for solutions but no one really has the same problem as me. Most of the other people with problems said they could hear the fan, but with mine there is noting. No sound. No lights. No working laptop just one really expensive door stop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently purcahsed a Dell Inspiron 1440 Laptop. It was used. Upon power up, it comes to an administrative password screen and will not allow me to boot off DVD or go into CMOS setup. What can I do to eliminate this situation.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just replaced the motherboard in a Dell Inspiron 1440. The last step in the Dell Service Manual is to enter the correct Service Tag within BIOS. When I started it up and hit F2 and the section with the service tag could not be changed. Is there another way of changing the service tag to the correct one.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1440 that won't boot now. Using WinVista Ultimate and needed to reboot but it hangs after the Dell logo/Inspiron screen with the white status bar is completed at the bottom of the LED screen. I removed the 500GB HD and inserted a new 1TB Win7 Professional that I've been working on for the last couple of weeks and it won't boot either. Same situation on both HD (2 Win OSes on same laptop with same issue). FYI, I have 8GB RAM in the laptop (been that way for couple of years) but I don't suspect the RAM as the issue. I do have 2-2GB RAM DIMMs that came with the laptop initially in case that's a test I need to make.
Functionally, it appears like the boot sector on the HD isn't "available" but I've tried two (2) different HDs and I get the same issue. Hence, I think it's not a HD issue.
What IS the issue and what are my options? Laptop appears to be fine otherwise. New motherboard? $$??
Pressing F2 or F12 doesn't get me anywhere at startup time either.
I want to upgrade my processor I am recently using 2.10 GHz
View 10 Replies View RelatedIm thinking about upgrading my processor in my M1730 from my 2.4 to somthing with a little more mustard.
I am concidering the X9000.... Will this work with my m1730.... also does 1730 have potential for 64 bit.... Im lost as I have been out of the loop on this machine for a while.
I have a dell XPS 1330, with an intel core T5250, I want to upgrade my processor,
but I don't understand what type of socket has my processor.
Can you explain this?Is it compatible with socket 479? And do you know if there is a guide to change the processor?with a video, or only instruction?
i'm new to these forums and know VERY LITTLE about computers. i bought my laptop 2 years ago and cheaped out on the processor to save some cash.
i want to upgrade the processor now because it is a little slow for my liking plus i want to be able to play some newer video games like BC2 and MW2.
my current processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80GHz
I dont know too much about computers like I said but im pretty sure I want one that can run at at least 2.4GHz and read that the T8300 ran at 2.4GHz in a thread but that thread was about 3 years old XD.
edit: found an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T8600 @ 2.4GHz for $210. is that a good deal?
I've been out of the hardware game for quite some time. Cisco for 2 years will make you forget stuff.
I have a Dell XPS M1530, T9300 processor. I am wondering if I can upgrade to the T9900. Also, my current processor is 32 bit. Can I get a T9900 in 64 bit, and will it work with my mobo? OS doesn't matter, can redo it. I am trying to beef it up for better gaming. 3gb ram is killing me...
Another question. Just wondering if it is possible to get an i5 or i7 instead? Will the i7 physically fit into the slot? 45nm
Yet another question. The laptop runs hot already. With a processor upgrade, surely it will run hotter.
