Dell :: Inspiron 1520No USB Is Working For Me

I just installed Windows Xp on a new Inspiron 1520 because my uncle hates Vista. Anyway, this is about the third time I've cleaned Vista off a computer and put Xp on instead and this hasn't happened to me and I don't know what to do...
Once I got into XP I installed the Chipset i found from a thread somewhere on this site and after I did, none of the USB ports were working. They had been prior because the chipset was on my USB stick... Any one have any ideas how to solve my problem?

After turning on our Inspiron 17R laptop the cursor is between 2 user profiles and I can't get the cursor to move using the touchpad. I tried using the Hot Key to enable the touchpad but that didn't work.Â

I have a problem with the USB..Only the one on the left is working. The one on the back and on the right are not working. I've tried to update from the Windows 7 driver manager and it didn't work. I've installed the drivers from the dell website and it didn't work. It is possible that I haven't installed the correct drivers?

But when i diagonosed entire system it shows no problem with fan and at that time it is working OK..but after s/m boot it is not working.i took laptop on 2011 august(inspiron 15 R(..now my charger died and problem start preaching after 1 year.

I have an Inspiron 15 with Windows 8.1 on which the Windows is not working. I am in contact with Dell but the 'expert' seems to ignore what I say and give me solutions that bear little relation to my problem. could it be that I am in consultation with a computer that emits standard replies based on keywords in my e-mails?

My computer was working fine last night, shut the lid and went to bed. Woke up hit the power button and I have blue screen. Restarted and now have blank black screen. I have a XP cd I try to put it in and nothing happens. I want to boot by cd but it wont. Cant figure out how to get into setting to change order for bios. I hit F8 and that works and tried all the options and no go, still blank black. I would wipe it out and start over If I could. Nothing new was installed. It was fine last night and today it woke up nasty!?

I noticed that the main fan on my laptop (dell 9400 inspiron) is was on a lot lately. It would come on after 5 minutes and stay on... full power, maximum RPM...
Had a look at the laptop and noticed there are two fans... A small one over the CPU, and a main one that cools the whole internals.
The main one was on all the time, and the small CPU one did not seem to come on at all. (that side of laptop was always hot too)
I downloaded a program (http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/) that allows you to manually activate the fans to check they were working. Sure enough the secondary(small CPU fan) would not spin with the test program.
I carefully opened up the laptop and removed all the pieces I needed
to access the fans. This involves carefully removing all casing screws, then removing the keyboard screws, then removing the screws under the keyboard too. You need to disconnect the keyboard, the WLAN power wires, the cr2032 battery wires, the screen bus, and 2 or 3 other connectors. just take note of what your disconnecting and how it is connected. Once I had seperated the laptop into two pieces and exposed the fans, I noticed a big piece of lint/dust ball in between the small CPU fan blades.

Does anyone know how to figure out what model is my heatsink, or where to buy them? i looked in ebay but can't find it.
i noticed that my laptop kept running hotter and hotter until i decided to look if the fanswhere even working and saw that the heat sink fan is not moving.

My Touch Pad is not working after upgrading windows 7 to window 8.1. I am using Inspiron 14 3442. I already installed touch pad driver  [Input_Driver_H4TWP_WN_18.0.7.1_A00.EXE ]. Is there anything that i can do to get my touchpad back?

I have purchased a USB 3.0 hard drive, but it only works in my USB 2.0 port.I found what looks to be the solution in a previous thread linked below, however the link to one of the drivers in the thread no longer works.

According to the manual, this model is suppose to have USB Powershare abilities, however, I cannot for the life of me get it to work for charging my LG G2 phone. My previous laptop (not a Dell) was able to do this without any issues. Powershare is enabled in the BIOS, I am using the USB port with the power symbol, but when the laptop is put to sleep or powered off, there is no power to the USB port. I have tried unplugging my phone after the laptop is put to sleep, and plugging it back in, but that doesn't work either. IÂ have also checked and disabled USB suspend modes in the power management tabs of all USB hubs and the Human interface devices. I also tried repairing/reinstalling the chipset drivers after the latest BIOS update (A03).

I have an Inspiron 1525 with 4gb RAM and 285gb hard drive (158gb free). Processor is 2.17gHz, dual core. Â O/S Vista. Â Up until very recently, it's been running fine. Â But within the last week or two, it has gotten veerrryyy slow. Â The fan seems to be running more often (maybe it's my imagination), and the video is halting even for a simple game of Free Cell. Â I have ccleaner which I run regularly. Â I have also run two different spyware programs and Norton Utilities optimizer.
I just had to replace my desktop computer a few months ago. Â I certainly don't want to have to replace this one too. Â Â

I recently bought a Inspiron 5521 with ubuntu pre-installed, I shifted it to windows 7 OS and also updated the BIOS in the driver installing process,Before I updated the BIOS my Brightness was working fine meaning I can low the it down while on battery and use high settings on AC mode but after I updated the BIOS I could not do this feature any more....when I go to  Power Options to adjust it manually the Scroll bar there doesn't do a thing, even if I low it down or take it to full settings.

I've had this Dell Inspiron 15 Windows 8 for a year and a half now, and when Windows 8.1 updated, all my gestures on the touchpad stopped working. For example
I can't tap the touchpad to click,
I can't use 2 fingers to scroll anymore
I can't use 3 fingers to switch between tabsÂ
I can't bring the charms by swiping from the right
I can't do the swipe from the left thing I think that switched apps.

I have a problem on my Dell laptop Inspiron N4050, all USB ports suddenly stopped working, I tried to troubleshoot my laptop to fix the problem but it didn't work.
I upgraded the version of my BIOS, the chipset, and downloaded the latest version of the driver but still not working, I even tried to re-format my laptop but the problem is still the same.
My laptop is already out of warranty.

I am having issues with my touchpad not working, I have gone through most of the troubleshooting tips such as hitting touchpad enable/disable hotkey, turning of the laptop and holding down the power button for 15 seconds, and downloading the suggested driver. The most distressing thing is that when I go the mouse hardware/driver, the only thing that the computer is recognizing is the usb mouse I am having to use.

Touch pad is no longer working. I have had my Dell Inspiron 17R for abut 15 months and the touchpad has not worked for at least 12 of them. At first I noticed the problem after my computer would install updates and I'd have to restore the computer to a particular snapshot point. That worked for all of one week. Then I also checked the drivers. That was unsuccessful. I have also tried pressing F3 + Fn and nothing. I won't begin to mention that I have to hold this laptop a particular way to get it to turn on.... I do know, the touchpad on a basically new laptop is supposed to work and the device is supposed to turn on when you press the power button without having to do some form of sorcery.Â

I've bought 2 Inspiron N7110 laptops. Both have win7 64bit OS, and 2 usb ports (3.0 ports) are not working. I have all the latest drivers form dell's web page, but I can't get them to work. Is this a driver issue or this laptop series is affected by Chipset circuit design issue? Should I return them, or there is something wrong with drivers, and it can be fixed?

Purolator dropped off the laptop today and I was quite excited. I tried the Bluray and it's definitely worth the extra money. However, some things are going wrong.
First, the damn touchpad sucks. I want Synaptics back. But at this point all I can do is BAWW about it, so whatever. But when I try to install the drivers, the cursor flips out every time I touch the pad at all. It goes all over the screen in random directions.
Second, my bluetooth doesn't seem to be working. I installed the drivers on Windows Vista and Windows 7, but neither of them yielded results. The drivers install without a problem and then tell me to enable Bluetooth using the radio button. The radio button is already enabled, as Wi-Fi is working, but there is still no Bluetooth option in the Control Panel or anywhere else for that matter.
Third, Bluray movies seem to not work with WMP. What's the problem? If it's not supported, what program do you guys suggest I use for Bluray movies?
Fourth, no matter what I do, Catalyst Control Center just won't install. The drivers are there, but CCC just won't work at all, let alone show up in my desktop context menu.

I got a really weird problem!
I have replaced my broadcom wifi mini PCI-e card with an intel wifi link 5100...
But when installing it, it gives me a "code 10" error: the device can't start.
the lenovo laptop from where I got the intel card is Ideapad Y430.
My laptop is a dell inspiron 9400/E1705.
the broadcom wifi card work perfectly in the lenovo ideapad...

I am getting the above msg when trying to use the built-in Web cam for Video or for “picture capture”, i.e. photos.
I removed everything with the Dell camera and reinstalled the “Creative Labs Dell Webcam Manager , 140 mb”. No joy
I also installed from the Dell site "input device drivers"- "Creative labs driver, R2RC1, A04", no joy.
Webcam works fine with Messenger therefor I am cautious to “reinstall/remove, disable” or so the Webcam Device in Device Manager since I don’t want to ruin it further
I did a bit of searching and noticed others found solutions mainly by reinstalling drivers though this has not worked for me. Would someone have any other tips?
Here some PC details: Dell Inspiron 1525, Vista Home Premium, SP1, 2GB RAM, one reimage done around 4 months ago, not sure if it happened because of that)
