I Have Dell Inspiron 1564 i5 Edition And From Last 6 months It's Dvd Writer started Giving Problems. Initially It Used To Read Some Dvd And Other Shown As Blank But Now A Days It Doesnt Read Dvd At All.
Anyone has a review on Inspiron 1564 please? I am debating on this one with studio 15. This inspiron has numeric keypad. That's why I love it. Since, I personalize this one. So I think that it is similar to stuido 15. However, studio 15 has i5 520. I dont know i5 430 is good or not? When will Dell have i5 520 on inspiron 1564?
Maybe what I write sound something repetitive BUT I am looking for a fix. I have tried to unbrick my laptop with the bootable USB flash with my correct A06 BIOS.WPH file extracted from 1564_A06.exe. After plugging in the Power cord and after releasing the END key that I hold for 3 seconds, fan starts spinning BUT there is no light on Power LED and it stays dead with fan spinning. I left the laptop for almost 30 minutes but didn't see anything happening....
Recently laptop shuts down unexpectedly even when battery shows 40%. When it restarts with mains on, battery shows 0% power. When I check the battery health, it shows "Your Battery is able to charge normally. However, you may begin to notice reduced operating time because your long-term battery life is decreasing". I know my battery possibly needs to be replaced, but don't understand why battery indicating incorrectly?
how to upgrade memory my notebook, because I have a notebook inspiron 1564 with 4Gb RAM and I'd change to 8Gb RAM. But searching int internet I' ve found only memories with frenquency 1333Mhz and the memories in the my notebook are 533MHz.
Is there any problem and is it possible upgrade memory ispiron 1564 4Gb to 8Gb?
The SW on my bios is A06. I downloaded the A13 ( the windows executable ) and ran it as admin. A windows poped up warning that the pc would reboot after completion. I click on Flash, a CLI poped up, done a few things and showed a success message. But when I go into the BIOS, it's still ver A06. By the way my os is Win 7 x64 ....
My dell laptop worked perfectly for around 6 months. After that i have had to use my TV as a monitor via HDMI. Basically on start up the screen goes black and slowly turns to white with multi-coloured lines running vertically down it. It first started to play around not long after i had bought it, the screen would freeze and seem to slowly become faded and lose colour but if i flipped the screen up and down a little it would work fine again but after abut a month of being able to jiggle it back to a working state it completely went. I have spoken to a local PC reapir shop who have quoted me around £150-175 to fix this.
I have researched this problem thoroughly on the internet to find that this particular model is prone to issues like mine and others in regards to its screen. Using my TV as a monitor, the visuals are all fine.
I have downloaded the latest drivers for literally everything. Bios, Graphics... You name it, I have tried it in multiple attempts to try and fix this.
My laptop is no longer under warranty but this issue seems to affect a lot of this particular model.
I have 2 units of dell inspiron but i forgot the exact model unit maybe 1564 or 1654. my problem is that both of unit are broken. im happy that i use my units for about 5 years. both of unit are broken, the one unit was running but its not open the screen. and the other one is when i turn it on there`s something beeping 5-10 continuous beeping 2 times in everytime i open it. but the unit were not open. i cant retrive my files on my unit..
Laptop: Dell Inspiron 1564 OS: Windows 7 Home Problem: Does not turn on.
Cause: Was working fine until last night when I shut it down, did not turn on when I tried to turn it on later in the morning. No known cause.
Details: My laptop does not turn on in anyway - with charger put on or without charger.
It was working fine when I shut it down the other night but when I tried to turn it on in the morning, nothing happened. When I press the power-on button, just battery light (of the 3 lights on laptop) glows for a while and then it goes off as well. Other than that, nothing happens at all. I have tried taking the battery out and putting it in, plugging ang unplugging AC - nothing works.
I left the laptop unattended whole day and when came back, I tried to turn it on and the battery and power lights both glowed this time and continued glowing but screen was blank and no sound nothing happened for a few minutes and then I powered it off. Tried to turn on again, nothing happened, back to old problem as stated earlier i.e. only the battery light glows for a while and then goes off ....
I've tried to collect all the info I can. Please add as you seem fit.
Recently returned a dell 1745 due to bad fan control. While idling the fan would rew up to max each 3-5 minutes easily detectable by speedfan (see the last link). The core temperatures would slowly ("") increase to around 38 degrees when the fan starts at horrendous pace for ~10-15 seconds and cool the cores to sub-30 degrees and the whole show starts again. This is a showstopper and noone should really by these products.
It is as though the cpu fan only has two paces. Silent and Noisy. There shoudl of course be some kind of gradient in the fan speeds at different temepratures but his has not been implemented though very easy for BIOS coders to do so. The fan vigorously tries to cool the cpu to 30 degrees each time it hits ~40 degress - we're talking intel cpus that could easily go to 60-70 degrees without fuzz.
While idling any laptop should keep a constant temperature - the current lineup of inspirons and studios (at least 1564, 1745, 1747 an 1749) cannot achieve this and unleashes fan hell very often.
Untill fixed (which dell seems very reluctant to) don't buy dell. It's simply not worth it.
This have nothing to do with throtteling. And don't even get me started on doing something "cpu intensive" like browing.
During updating BIOS with this i have error "BIOS update failed! Image verification failed. Error code -200" and laptop was frozen, keyboard and touchpad doesn't respond. After 30 min i remove AC and battery from my laptop and try to power on again, but dell not respond.
The dell support center PC Check showed my hard drive funnel seek test failed. Before I ran the PC check, the laptop flashed and shutdown. I restarted in safe mode and backed up all of my files, shut down the laptop again and restarted.
I am currently rebooting the laptop, and have inserted the Dell Diagnostics and utilities CD and testing my hard drive. the following error code keeps occurring..No additional sense information
Test Results: Fail Error Code: 0F00:1332 Msg: DISK - Block 4507 : Interrupt Request (IRQ) did not set in time
The same message also occurred with the following Block Numbers, with the same error code:
just bought a new 7900gs for my lappy, e1705 and flashed it with the gtx bios so as to create the gsx.
however decided to change it back to the gs original bios but whenever i try to install drivers after flashing it, windows will always read my card as the 7900GT/GTO
It's kinda irritating because whenever i close the laptop lid, it wouldn't shut off and usually my temp readings are higher then normal - around 45-55.
Before when i used the original 7900gtx bios flash it would normally be around 37-45..
i tried to work around this problem by manually "having disk" when windows asks me to choose which driver to install and i chose the 7900gs however since they're like 5-6 7900GS GO drivers, i just choose randomly and it works to some degree; the monitor shuts off when i close it
yet i still have some display problems like the windows of each page moving slowly or very choppily when i move them..
anyone know anything i can do? to like.. revert back to my original bios settings? i did save the original bios but it just doesn't work, windows always sees my card as a 7900GT/GTO
i have an hdx16t 64 bit with 4gbs of ram. when i go to task manager--->Performance, under Physical Memory the total reads only 3068mb! Is this normal? but when i view system properties when i right click my computer is says 4.00gb. is this normal?
My system (Inspiron 1564 - Windows 7) is still configured as I received it from Dell. The C drive is 58.5 Gb and the D drive is 164 Gb.
The problem is that everything saves to the C drive and nothing uses the D drive.
I do not want to reformat in one drive, happy to keep 2 but want pictures, documents etc to be saved to the D drive as the C drive is getting full up. How do I make the change to point these files to the D drive?
I have upgraded the HDD and RAM 2 months ago after a hardisk failure.
Current specs as follows: Intel Core2 CPU T7400@2.16GHz Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 GT 2x2G RAM 2x320G HDD
Optical Drive: Mata BD-MLT UJ-210S ATA Device In device manager it says the device is working properly. Current driver version is 6.0.6001.18000, which should be the latest (Ver1.06)
The laptop was purchased in June 2007. Broke Dec 2009 due to hardisk failure. Then I upgraded some hardwares (HDD & RAM), reinstalled Vista Home Premium (Burnt disk) then upgraded to Win7 (Retail disk).
Then 2 weeks ago, I left it on battery only, thought it would go into hybernation when the battery drains, however I had a nasty system loss, basically all I had was the Vaio logo and BIOS info, not even F8. So had to reinstall the system. Did pretty much the same thing as before, except I did the firmware upgrade of the optical drive, which I don't recall doing the last time. Then, I'm stuck with the Win7 upgrade.
I have a ThinkPad x240 that is about 2 months old running Windows 7. Everything has been working great until this morning. I was on vacation and did not use my laptop for a week or so. When I plugged it into my docking station this morning, I noticed that the battery was reading 0% charged and was not charging.
Lenovo Power Management showed that the battery is in good shape Lenovo Power Management showed that there was "no activity" - not charging Lenovo Power Management showed no battery #1 - battery # 2 installed but not charging.
Troublshooting so far Tried charging with external power supply outside of docking station - No Change Removed battery, powered unit up and removed all Battery items in Device Manager Reinstalled battery and powered unitup - No change Removed and reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management and Driver / rebooted - No change
Current state: No Power Management software on the laptop - just using the Microsoft stuff (Still not charging). What else I should be trying / checking?
Her mum was using the laptop a couple of nights ago and the screen just went blank suddenly when she was browsing the internet.
She held the Power button in and turned it off as it was still running. When she tried to Start it up again the Laptop is starting up but nothing is coming up on the screen, The screen is staying completely blank,
Although when you hold for talk sake the Light of your mobile phone around 1cm away from the Screen you can see the Desktop of the Laptop. So basically the laptop is working but theres no light to light the screen up it just stays black as if it isnt turned on.
Whenever I switch on my Inspiron 6400, either via the On/Off or Media Direct button, the screen almost always goes blank within less than a second. I would like to reset the computer to its original factory settings via F8 or reinstall the operating system via F12 but cannot do so because of the blank screen. Occasionally, I hear the sound which accompanies the window screen a few seconds after switching the computer on; the computer will also sometimes whirr and the number lock and wife symbols will illuminate, all whilst the screen remains blank.
This problem first developed yesterday when I received the message "NTLDR is missing". With a bit of perseverance yesterday, I could eventually get the computer to work by repeatedly switching it on an off, but this no longer seems possible today. My computer has Windows Vista.
