Does Inspiron N5010 support the i5-480M processor? I've found this thread but I don't see it in the supported CPUs list.
Currently I'm running on a Pentium P6100 and I'm thinking of upgrading to i5 480m. Is this upgrade worth it?
Finally I want to ask if the existing cooling system is sufficient for an i5 480m because I don't want my laptop to suffer from overheating issues.
Since she only uses it for office, mail, web browsing and some music with Media player or iTunes, I know the integrated Intel GMA4300 will suffice.
However, I'm not sure about the processor. There are three options, a celeron dual core (which is really low-end, so out of the question), a 2.1 Ghz pentium dual-core (T4300) with 1Mb of cache and a 2.2 ghz core2duo (T6600) with 2Mb of Cache. They all have 4Gb of RAM.
Both the pentium dual core and the core2duo come with Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) so I expect even the dual core can't be that ancient as far as architecture is concerned .....
I have an xps m1710 with 2 gig ram, 7900gtx card and a core duo 2 ghtz processor. My company has decided they are willing to pay to upgrade my CPU to a core 2 due 2.16 ghtz. Should I take the upgrade?
Aside from the fact thats free and all, my real concern if it will yield better gaming performance and battery life.
Would it work with my XPS m1710? Or would the heatspreader ontop of the cpu stop this from happening, could you make it lidless?

I don't know if there is a model of Dual Core processor out there that would fit with the same socket pins? And even if there i one, will I have other things to change, like in the bios etc...
View 6 Replies View RelatedIntel says the T3200 is a pentium dual core. Pcwizard says the cpu is a c2d T5750. So does that mean the T3200 is a renamed c2d with some cache disabled? And why doesn't the American Acer site have the 5735z in the support section? I know its a bottom barrel item but at least show some support. I noticed the 4630 has the same specs except for the screen size. Can the Bios and driver intertwine?

It was running fine until today when suddenly while I played game it started lagging, first I thought that probably I run too many app but I ran task manager and saw that my cpu is 100 % and led lamp for hdd is always on. I restarted and saw that right after I click the button the led is on. I ran defrag disk twice.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought the i7-3520M (dual) and I looked in the manual to see what slots to use for my memory upgrade and the instructions were completely off (where the dummy stick is supposed to be and where it actually was).
I purchased two 8GB (Kingston) sticks to replace the 4GB that came installed. I took out the original 4GB under the keyboard and replaced it with the new 8GB Kingston. Everything worked great and I've been using it that way for about a week.
Tonight I decided to go ahead and install the other 8GB. I assumed it would go in the bottom slot where there's a dummy stick. I pulled out the dummy and placed my 8GB there. Turned the laptop on and... nothing. It wouldn't power on at all. I took my 8GB out and put the dummy back and it worked fine. Just to make sure I didn't get a bad stick, I replaced the one under the keyboard with my other 8GB and it worked fine there. My question is where is my second 8GB supposed to be installed and does that one dummy stick always stay where it is? It does have a "do not remove" graphic on it, but I thought it was only because the laptop came with one stick and if you were putting two in you would replace it.
I am upgrading my TM 292 (1400x1050, Pentium M 1,5 GHz, Ati Mobility Radeon 9700 - 64MB VRAM) with an Intel Pentium M 2,0 GHz (755).
When I start the notebook, with a mounted 2 GHz CPU, it starts for a few seconds, then the first two LEDs flash and everything goes off.
My BIOS is 1.40 (you can only get 1.30b from the Acer homepage).
Has anyone a Travelmate 290 with a Pentium M 755?

When I push he start button it beeps 3 times, there will be a pause of maybe 10 seconds and will beep 3 times again. This cycle repeats. The screen just stays black.

View 5 Replies View RelatedInspiron N5010 does nothing when power button pressed, if power cord is attached then blue charging light goes out indicating that power unit has been overloaded and tripped out. If power lead is unplugged from laptop and mains supply, then plugged into mains again power is restored to adaptor and blue light on lead lights up again. Using Dell manual I have stripped laptop down to component parts. If mains adaptor is plugged into I/O board then charging light on lead remains lit. When motherboard ( including CPU ) is remounted onto I/O board, when mains adaptor is plugged in charging light goes out. Motherboard does not show any burnt area's or signs of damage to any component. Tried all versions of static discharge to laptop before stripping down without success. If the only solution is to replace Motherboard how can I order. The existing board includes 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v Graphics. The laptop is out of warranty.

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop running Windows7, and it automatically powers off when I login to my computer.
I tried to run Diagnostics but it will not complete as laptop crashes within 30 seconds or so of logging in. As it crashes there is an audible click.
This happens both when the laptop is on AC Power and Battery, and in safe mode or starting normally.
I have a Inspiron 15 Intel (N5010) laptop with Win7 64bit. when I start my computer with headphones plugged in and then unplug them, no sound comes from the speakers. If I start the laptop with headphones unplugged then there is no problem (also, when I start with the unplugged, then plug the headphones in and then unplug, the sound from the speakers is ok).
I installed the latest audio drivers and codecs. But now that I think of it, I installed latest network drivers from dell site. I have a TOSHIBA MK6461GSYN hard drive and I wonder where could I check if there is a newer firmware available? Checked Toshiba site and they had some update program but that needed a floppy drive.

In order to fix that, I attempted to do a system restore with the Dell Factory Image. However, I received the "Bootmgr is missing" upon the system rebooting. Are there any solutions out there that do not require a Windows 7 re-installation disk, I do not have one. If the solution does require a DVD, where can I order one. My laptop is only two years old, so I do not believe that the hard drive is dying.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have replaced mother board and LCD of my Inspiron N5010. After replacement, it started to shut down constantly, usually 5-10 min after start up. I have run diagnostics, it showed error 2000-0413 (LCD cable not detected), but could not finish all diagnostic process, cause it shut down again during CPU memory test.
Is it possible that because of this error computer shut downs then working or it is two separated problems? Can it be that only cable connector causing error or it is a defect of new mother board?

I created a second partition and installed a vanilla Windows 7 on it and booted into it and it still boots slowly.I've tried every form of optimization that various sites, including you, have told other people in forums. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron N5010, roughly two and a half years old. It's been a pretty good computer. It would never crash unless it overheated, and to solve that I soon bought a cooler. I've never really had too much a crashing problem, besides an odd crash here or there when, I'm assuming the problem is, a number of programs running large processes and taking up a vast amount of RAM, and even then it usually is quite warm.
Lately I've not used the computer as much as I used to say, over the summer, but I'm still on it often. Normally I have a few tabs of Chrome open, and sometimes iTunes will be running as well. There's not usually anything more than that. However, my computer has randomly started to crash. Out of complete nowhere, with no warning whatsoever, the computer stops working and just... shuts down, as if it were overheating or something. At first I thought it had been due to charge, or had simply died on me, but when I plugged it back in both times it's done it now, I learn the battery has been probably a little under 100% when it crashed. The battery is quite new, received no sooner than November of last year.
The computer, when it crashes, is not warm at all either. Perhaps a little from where my hands were, but never warm enough to think it overheated. In the past three weeks, it's crashed twice. I know that sounds a bit little, but both times very little was actually being done. When it comes to school and projects and whatnot, when the workload really gets heavy (and it will!), I'm concerned it might start crashing more and more, or not be able to handle a heavy workload.
I recently had my hard drive replaced and windows 7 reinstalled on my laptop. My touchpad hot key is not working now. It did before. I have Inspiron N5010.

When I decided to do some work on it, now the Power botton and Battery light is flashing white. Try the troubleshooting of removing the battery, power cord and hold the power botton down for 10 seconds, it's still flashing. Not sure what to do next.

everything works fine, but my rams are still running on 400mhz (200)... they support 533, 667, 800 mhz... i don't understand this!

My daughter was using her laptop (19 months old Inspiron 15R N5010) a couple days ago when all of a sudden, all but the bottom of her screen went black, the bottom was all garbled. Then a weird shrieking noise came out of the laptop and everything powered off (it was on battery). So she plugs in the ac power cord, thinking her battery was dead. Computer started to power on, fans & hard-drive spinning, but no screen at all, all black. After a couple minutes, the same weird shrieking sound and everything off again, but that time, a burnt smell came out of the fan exhaust.
Now, with our without ac power, the only thing that "works" on the laptop is the power button LED, everything else is silent. No fan, no hard-drive, no dvd player spinning.It's out of warranty, unfortunately, and hse needs it for class. I've fixed laptop before, actually on 2 occasions I replaced motherboards on other brand laptops without any issues... but while looking at the inside of the N5010, there are 2 boards inside, the mother board, and the power/ac/wan board...
