View 7 RepliesI am booting a Dell Latitude E5420 running Windows 7 and after the POST it just shows a blinking cursor..... BUT WAIT... not ALL the time... it does manage to boot into the windows after I choose the HDD from F12 options or sometimes even when I keep on shutting down and starting up again and sometimes when I do a restore checkpoint in the repair options....
The Diagnostic tests are not working when I go through the F12 and just hangs up showing the message -
Examining ACPI interface
Running MATS test
I can't understand... if it was consistently NOT booting or showing a consistent error... but here the behavior is erratic (except for the MATS test failure....
Does Latitude E5420 has SATA III compatibility?
(Motherboard Model: 0H5TG2 Version: A01)
I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64bit and have all the drivers loaded, I think, except one:
Mass Storage Controller
Can't find the driver, don't know what it is. I've installed the chipset driver, the ATA driver, etc. Still it shows as not found.
Have a Latitude E5420 and the screen suddenly turn dark. Still can see a bit but sometimes will return to the normal for while. Is this because of the parts has lose? Should change the monitor? Or related to the driver?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having some real issues with a Latitude E5420. It will sometimes boot no problem, maybe 40% of the time.
Most of the time it goes to the dell splash screen and the bar goes to the top then i get a blank screen. No blinking cursor or anything. No HD activity, no CD drive activity.
I can press F2 and get in to the bios, i can press F12 and get to the boot menu but even after selecting a boot option from the boot menu i will still get a blank screen most of the time.
Once the Laptop boots up it runs fine and doesn't report any errors. A memory test has shown no errors. I have replaces the CMOS battery, which was a bit of a nightmare, i have replaced/swapped the memory modules.
Updating the BIOS for my laptop, full system crashes whenever I try running games [even low end].
Currently running A01, there are only two BIOS drivers up for download on the Dell site and both say I need to upgrade to A02 first.
I have Dell Latitude E6420 with Windows 7 OS installed.
The driver for Biometric device is also installed. But windows is not finding any biometric device as shown in the following picture message.
I just do a fresh install windows XP. Everything has been installed properly (no exclamation mark) in device driver. However, 1 thing that hasn't worked is the SD card reader. I inserted SD Card and nothing shows up. I open My Computer, the only available is my hard disk (C and cd-rom (D.
I opened device manager: IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers:
Ricoh SD/MMC host controller.
I need webcam driver and digital persona finger reader driver for vostro 3550 window 7 64bit. i could not find these driver.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I installed Windows 8.1 (from the MSDN developer site) on My Latitude E6510 it has an unknown device called Broadcom USH. A Windows 7 driver would probably work, but I don't know what that device does, so I don't know which driver to try and install. I think it's for the BCM5880 chip. What does that do?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell E6400. The OS has been uprgraded to Windows 7 - 64 bit by an authorized Microsoft refurbish dealer. The driver stops randomly. Using the internet, Office, version 2010. is there a better driver?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 64 bit on a Dell E4200.I had two yellow exclamation points in device manager for unknown devices.
PCI Serial Port
PCI Simple Communications
I went to Dell support site and to the drivers and downloads page for my Service Tag.Under the Chipset section there is an Intel driver for AMT HECI. Installing that driver solved the PCI Simple Communications item.
Also under Chipset there is an Intel driver AMT SOL. I installed that driver but the PCI Serial Port was still showing Unknown with the Yellow..In my case I had to then manually Update the driver as follows:
Open Device Manager > right click on PCI Serial Port and choose Update driver > choose Browse my computer and browse to the driver folder for the AMT SOL just created when you downloaded and installed the driver mentioned above. Location for me is C:DellDriversR279202.
In November, Dell will roll out the full Latitude ON system, which will be built into the Latitude notebooks and also offered as a low-cost mini-PCI upgrade to models issued with the reader.
What does a mini-PCI upgrade entail? Is that hardware or a downloadable software upgrade?
I get an error, just says Error 15 when I try to boot using Latitude ON. Anyone else have this problem?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis has been brought up before in this forum, but it was as an off-topic discussion on a thread with a different topic. I'd like to bring it to full discussion.
Basically, I'm quite happy with my E6400 but I don't use the fingerprint reader, because that involves using the Embassy Trust Suite.
This means that you cannot use the fingerprint reader for any other uses except logging on at boot and windows logon screen. You cannot use it for your web browser, for example.
Several people have asked Dell to invest in an open API for the fingerprint reader because of this. Dell suggested we opened a thread in their community feedback site, "Dell IdeaStorm", which I did. Here's the link.
I got my Latitude E6500 a few days ago, I'm happy with it (except the lagging ALPS touchpad) but I have a problem with the fingerprint reader (Broadcom USH w/Swipe sensor).
The fingerprint reader is connected and does respond, but the ControlPoint software throws an error if I try to enroll my fingerprint (the error doesn't show up if I don't touch the sensor). If I reboot, the "Broadcom USH w/swipe sensor" is replaced by "Broadcom USH w/o swipe sensor" in the device manager. The swipe sensor is detected again after a complete shutdown.
I've enrolled my fingerprints via the Windows 8.1 PC user settings app.
When I logon to my PC it provides the usual password box to type my password, but if I swipe the fingerprint reader nothing happens. I've registered four fingers, none of them work.
Are there some other settings I need to change to enable use of the fingerprint reader?
I see the biometric device in device manager, and registering fingerprints is no problem, it's just during logon that it's not working.
speed of the Dell Latitude E4300 Card Reader? I mean the transfer rate of the SD Card Reader.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhere the software and data for the Dell Latitude E4300 ON-Reader is located?
Is it at the normal hard disk drive located just in a special partition there? Or is there another drive especially for it like a small flash media device or something like that?
All of a sudden the SD Card Reader on E5430 laptop doesn't work When I insert SD card nothing happens. Before, a window would pop up, or I could see the SD card in my computer.
No nothing happens and it doesn't show up under my computer.
Also, under device manager -> storage controllers, not there any more.
I believe it's a O2 Micro OZ600xxx card reader. I tried installing driver, but still doesn't see SD Card when inserted.
If the SD Card reader is just dead? Or do I have a driver issue. Windows 7 Professional 64bit
What causes this message when I boot my Latitude E6510 laptop?
ERROR "The reader is not installed on this machine. To install reader, press any key to restart your computer and run the reader installer. If the reader is installed on this pc, please check if the reader is installed on an encrypted hard drive.....Press any button to continue"....
I have tried enrolling many different fingers but the same message is returned. When I installled the driver R173506, I was presented with 4 folders ie x.86vista and x.64vista.
Plus two XP folders. I tried to install from the 64 but an error message was returned.
I eventually installed the drivers from the 86 folder. Just wondering if this is correct? The call centre said I should not be presented with these folder options.
I have a Latitude E6410 that I'm having problems with. On boot up it goes to a black screen with this error message: ERROR "The reader is not installed on this machine. View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently converted from a Lenovo X220 to a the Dell Latitude XT3. The XT3 is a better laptop minus a couple design choices. That said, there is one feature in particular that I will miss the most....My old X220 fingerprint reader allowed me to swipe with the latop powered down. This action would boot up the PC and log me in. This doesn't seem to work the same on the XT3. Instead, I must power it up then swipe in two separate steps.
Is there a way to get the XT3 to respond to a finger swipe while it is powered down?
I just bought a Dell E6400 and it has a fingerprint reader! However, the Dell ControlPoint isn't installed. Any link to whatever I need?
