The laptop wont turn on when its plugged in it says it's charging then when i attempt to turn it on it sounds like its booting up but within about 3 seconds it shuts off without the display ever turning on the LED light showing the battery is charging then begins to flash and the other 2 LED lights stay on. I was on the laptop not even an hour before this happened until it died and it hadn't moved after that so I'm not sure whats causing the issue.
I'm trying to install Ubuntu on an e6530. I changed a BIOS boot setting from Legacy to UEFI. Now the laptop doesn't even show me a BIOS screen at startup. The screen is backlit, so power is on, but shows nothing. The drive light flickers a few times, but no matter how long I wait, nothing appears.
I can't even switch it back to Legacy because I can't get into the BIOS. Hitting F12 after power on does nothing. Is there some way to get it back to Legacy mode? Or simply reset the BIOS to default settings?
I have got a Latitude E6530 laptop with an Intel quad-core i7-3720QM CPU and 8 GB RAM.
The strange thing is when I use Firefox (with not more than 6 tabs) specially using gmail, after a while scrolling and browsing become very slow; even typing become slow. As I wrote the laptop is one of the latest generation. I can not realize where the issue could be.
I got a Latitude E6530 with an E-Port II a few weeks ago. In general it's great but I have had one annoying problem a few times:
The laptop is docked with the lid closed, and two external monitors, and an external USB keyboard and mouse connected. It's running Windows 7 Ultimate.
The laptop goes into standby after a few minutes of inactivity.
When I press the power button on the dock to resume from standby, the external monitors stay in standby mode and the mouse and keyboard don't power on (no num lock light or laser on the bottom of the mouse).
If I undock the laptop and open it, the screen stays off and it doesn't respond to keyboard or touchpad input, even after several minutes. However the power light is on and the hard disk light occasionally blinks. The only solution is to power off the laptop by holding the power button for a few seconds.
Note that this doesn't happen every time that the laptop is woken from standby, it's only happened 3-4 times in a month. The Windows logs don't show any errors either.
I have a Latitude E6530 and I'd like to upgrade the resolution to 1920x1080. What cable and LCD part # (or compatible) do I need? The panel is easy enough to replace but I have no idea about the LCD cable.
who has an E6530 with BIOS rev A07 test to see if the 'Custom' charging mode functions properly via the Battery Information application that is installed with the Dell Feature Enhancement Pack ? The Battery Information application worked properly prior to the A07 update. To test:
1) Reboot
2) At the DELL logo press F12
3) Select 'BIOS Setup' from the pre-boot menu
4) Select Power Management, then select the 'Primery Battery Charge Configuration'
5) Select the 'Custom' option (Write down which option is selected before you make the selection so you can restore this setting later)
6) Set the 'Custom Charge Start' value (e.g. 50, NOTE the BIOS will not allow a value less than 50)
7) Set the 'Custom Charge Stop' value (e.g. 75, NOTE: the BIOS requires this value be 5 greater than the 'Start' value)
8) Click 'Apply', then click 'Exit' and let the system boot into Windows
9) Launch the Battery Information application by performing the following steps: 9.1) Press the 'Windows' key 9.2) In the 'Search Program Files' search box type: 'Dell Battery Information' 9.3) Click on the 'Dell Battery Information' link in the search results
10) When the Battery Information applications starts, verify that the Charge mode displays 'Custom' (see figure )
11) Click on the 'Change Setting' button
12) Verify that the 'Custom' mode is not listed (see figure)
13) Verify that the 'Start' and 'Stop' values which are set in BIOS are NOT correctly displayed, and that you are unable to change the 'Start' and 'Stop' values.
14) Restore your charge configuration by selecting the Charge mode you wrote down in step 5
Using Dell Clent System Update to update a Latitude E6530. All drivers are updated now except the Intel Chipset Driver. On Windows 7 64 bit. Framework version of the driver is 3.0.921.
The error message that it gives is Update package digital signature is invalid - status: Failed Error Code 7
Not sure how to remedy this.
I am trying to install this driver update hoping it will remedy a black screen with cursor when logging in. It takes about a minute to login and then the desktop finally appears. Was taking quite a bit longer to log in before I updated the other drivers and then removed McAfee to see if it was eating up system resources.
I reimaged my client's laptop and I am trying to download the drivers for the Universal Serial Bus Controller. I went on the dell website and tried downloading it but it still shows up as missing.
Operating system: Windows 7 x64
I was also wondering if dell has put the correct drivers up for the operating system. I select Windows 7 x64 drivers on the webpage. When I try to install them, it gives me a "invaild operating system" error.
I was recently given a Latitude E6530 and I wish to upgrade the standard keyboard to a backlit one after coming from a MacBook Air. I was wondering, does E6530 (or it's similar models) requires an additional cable to power the backlight or does it just feed off the single cable? I've scoured YouTube and Google to try find out if an extra cable is required for this model however wasn't able to.
I just found that my E6530 keyboard bends a little in the left upper corner. When i push a little bit harder the A or S or D key, the keys around move a little bit.
I have a Dell Latitude E6530 and when I plugged in my monitor and keyboard into the docking station, they were not recognized. But I can plug them into the laptop while docked and they are recognized.
I have a Dell Latitude D800 that will not power on. When the power button is pushed the green power indicator light comes on, the CDROM spins for a moment, but then nothing happens, there is no BIOS information displayed, no power on self test, no Dell logo. It just sits there with the green power light on.I have tried removing the power & battery then pressing the power button for 10 seconds (actually, I have tried as long as 60 seconds). I have tried to turn on with the power connected but not the battery. I have tried removing the connector cable for the power button and the connector cable for the display and then reseating them.
About a year ago I had the problem and really didn't get anywhere near fixing the problem. So here I am again hoping maybe someone can help.
Here is the issue,
My Laptop just suddenly died after checking how many mem stick I had.
I turn off my laptop, flipped it over, romoved the mem cover, and replaced the cover and flipped back over.. (I just removed the cover, didn't though anything) When I tried to power it up got nothing. (No lights)
The laptop won't power up even with the battery. I do notice the battery light is lit when it needs charging. I tried my spare battery, it charge it but doesn't turn on.
Right i try switch the D430 its powers on the 3 leds all come on also the power led and hdd led
then before i get a screen or bios it dies (about 3 seconds) can power it back up but same happens ive removed everything i can to just run the bare bones no wifi no BT
when i take the hdd out the led doesnt show when i power up so the board knows its missing ive added some ddr to see if it was the onboard ram still no joy tried pressing F2 and power to get a error code but nothing happens just powers off again
tried external monitor nothing tried litheum battery tested 3v tried without litheum battery tried with and without hdd Also tried with and without main battery just with ac adaptor
I have a dell latitude d531 i cant get it to power on and have no clue whats wrong... I have tried taking out the battery and power on with just the plug but still nothing the power light will come on for about 4-5 sec then shut off again... I think the battery is shot too because it will not charge when i plug in the power cord the green battery light comes on for 1-2 sec then off again and sometimes it will come back on flashing orange.
I pushed the Fn and F1 (which I thought would put it to sleep as I do with my ThinkPad) and it shut down. When I tried to restart later I wouldn't. I push the power button and the power light comes on for ~5 sec, the bluetooth flashes the WiFi flashes and then nothing. If I hold the power button down it seems to do this cycle continuously. If I do the same and hold down the Fn button the 3 lock lights are added to the cycle. I have unplugged the power, removed battery (which shows fully charged) held the power button for 20 seconds to clear all residual power. It does the same on AC or battery alone.
I am trying to see what might be wrong with the Dell Latitude 2110. When I close the lid power shuts off. You can not turn it back on unless you take out the batter and power supply then plug it back in. The power settings in windows xp are all to never shut off. I also replaced the power jack and it did not change. I did a dell test and it gave me a error 2000-0412 auxilary lcd cable not detected error 0412 and error 0411 lcd board not detected error code 2000-0411. I have a display and everything just have the power problem when shutting the lid.
I have a Latitude D531 laptop that when I hit the power button, the light comes on but goes off after about 10 seconds. This began when I had it on ansd all of a sudden shut down. One of Dell's people told me to try something but it still shuts off after five or six seconds. I thought it might be a short but am unsure.
Dell Latitude C800 Model # PPO1X. Internal Clock does not keep accurate time. Looses time when external power is off. Does this indicate internal battery is not working?
My Latitude D800 laptop recently had trouble to turn on. When pressed the power button (no matter how hrad or hard long to press), nothing happened, totally dead, power light didn't turn on at all. I tried with battery (two batteries) only, AC power only and both, same thing, but sometimes it could be turned on when I waited for a while or came back later and tried again.
i have a number of Dell D600 latitude laptops in the organisation, all identicial. Strange thing is that one of them will not work with the docking station, any Docking station to think of it. this is the error message i get " Your power adapter does not supply enough power to run the attached docking station" press F1 to shut down
I bought a new docking station to improve my workplace at home. Unfortunately I wasn't able to start a system because of warning during a booting sequence : "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge....etc". After that waring the only possible action is pressing F1 button to shutdown a system.I connect an AC adapter directly without a docking station, a system started properly.
I have Dell laptop D-610, and i have sixty GB hard disk.
I have 4 partition of hard disk, i used partition magic 8.0 for resizing all partition, during this operation power failed although my bettary was not charged. When I again start my pc partition magic8.0 give me error 626.
Now window is running normal but my one partition is not showing, in partition magic it show PQRS format and unreadable, now I am able to reopen this partition.
I have a Latitude E5520 that is having some strange issues. If I have i plugged in to a power cord, close the lid and disconnect the power cord, the unit shuts off. Sometimes when undocking, the unit will shut off as well.
I have checked the power settings and confirmed that when the lid is closed, no action should be taken.
The battery is fully charged and the laptop runs fine on the battery.
I bought new Dell E6410 (without windows). I installed Win XP SP3 and all drivers + Bios. When I turn off my pc and come after some time, I try to start it but not starting, The power button starts blinking!! I press many times but in vain.
I press FN + Power then it start's, Esc then restart, then it works fine ( During restart it gives one pop message at startup: before windows logo appears that its starting from default image, If I carry again the bios Update, this message will not come anymore).
I tried many Bios Versions (A09, A10, A06) and no good luck. B4 I used Dell D630 and after one month, the nvida card was defective ( I threw it out as scrap and still new laptop).
Do I have to threw this to scarp and lose my money again with Dell???
