from a review that i have red on the net i got the information that the mini 1010 (z530 1366x768 6cell battery 250 hdd) is fanless. However, when i contacted a seller and asked him about this fact (fanless or not) he said that it isn't.
So, is there a mini 10 that is fanless ?
I was bored tonight so I ran some benchmarks on my 1720, Specs in Sig
Only change was the GPU was overclocked.
1st Pic is 3DMark @ stock clocks.--------3449
2nd Pic is 3DMark Overclocked-----------4366 Old 4259, 4271, 4280
3rd Pic is Vantage @ stock clocks--------P1115
4th Pic is Vantage Overclocked-----------P1457 Old P1410
I didnt get time to finish a Vantage run on my last set oc clocks since it needed tweaking due to display driver crashes. GPU temps never reached higher the 67*C when overclocked
The processor of the mini laptop is atom N450, i want to know can i install windows server 2003 32 or and 64 bit os on this machine.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I ran Dacris Benchmarks out of curiosity and don't understand the results. I have the XPS 13 with the q8700, 4gb ram, 256 graphics and 128ssd drive. Here is what it told me:
Your system's overall grade is: 419 Your system does not need any hardware upgrades yet ......
i was wondering if anyone has the dell m1730 can run some benchmarks.
it doesn't matter if it is stocked overclocked or whatever.
just post up your system specs and if you are overclocked (if so please state your clocks if you do not wish to give out your clocks, just say ""max overclock")
if you don't know what to benchmark, here's some stuff you can do.
also can you please tell us your settings on the game when you run it.
i have been searching but it's dead and the owner's lounge is way to big to search every page. it doesn't matter what gpu/cpu you have. as long as you state what you have.
I just benchmarked my system and i originally got 2,000 with 3DMark 06. But after installing new drivers i got 4,857! And in PCMark 05 i got 4,893, although i need to re-test that one because it was lower than i should have gotten i think and
i installed new drivers for my pc like i said. But for 3DMark 06 getting 4,857 is much better than the reviews which it got around 4,200 i believe.
Are the 9800s better or worse than the 8800GTXs? Anyone have some 3D Mark benchies to show us?
I dont O/C my 8800s as I am sure any more heat isnt good for the notebook.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently unlocked my 7900GS (in my inspiron 9400), and have it running comfortably at 450/1100 @ 1.24v ...
By comfortably I mean the MAX temp under full load (using ATITool Find Max Core) is 78C
(which I know is high, but this is a stress test afterall ... it would never be running this streseed under normal circumstances)
with 0 artifacts over 4 hours of running ATITools ...
I went to benchmark with 3dMark 06, and my score is 2551 ... WTF?
Now, I am a vista (x32) user, and recognize there has been evidence that graphics performance under vista is slightly lower then in XP ... but 2551? Thats a ridiculously low score
I ran 3dmark with no tasks running at all, and when I as afk
Does anyone have any clue why my 3d mark score is so ridiculously low?
If its of interest to anyone, i'm using Forceware 173.65 drivers from the good folks at laptopvideo2go (with the modified INF)
And my laptops specs of relevance are: T2550, 2gB @ 667
I am submitting benchmarks for my Dell Studio XPS 16. More 'benchies' will follow over time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust recently upgraded my E1705 with a FX-2500
Flashed the unlocked BIOS with the 1.24 v GPU 500 -1200 clocks
3DMark06 came back @ 5180
Just wondering how this matches up with others here with a simular setup.
So there have been quite a few posts recently about the 8600GTvs7900GS debacle, so i thought Id post some benchmarks for everyone's viewing I used tomshardware.com to compare the GPU's. Ive come to find BF2142 is quite popular in these forums so this is a game i decided to use w/ the benchmarks. I wont say anything else, Ill let you decide on the performance difference between the two
Note- I realize real world performance/driver tweaking can have a great impact on things, these BM's are for your curiosity only

i threw my 2 cents in. benchmarked my m1710 with 7900gtx in the thread.
my FRAPS result is near the same as what the 8800 got @ 1280x1024...
maybe diff @ higher res? or better drivers?
I just ordered a Mini 9. It was $229 and I couldn't resist. Only thing is, it has Ubuntu.
I haven't a clue how to run Ubuntu. It was suggested to wipe the SSD drive and re-install Ubuntu fresh and get rid of the crapware. I checked Dells, driver and download page and all the drivers are for Windows XP. Nothing is listed for Ubuntu.
I m thinking twice to buy a Inspiron mini with linux ubuntu and and Intel® Atom™ N270 serie N (1,60 GHz, 533 MHz, cache 512 KB)
The main use should be for internet (firefox amsn skype) and for open office, but sometimes I would like to use matlab 7.5
I think that is perfect with microphne and webcam built in but
does someone know if this kind of laptop with that processor is able to work well (or pretty well) with a version of matlab?
For sure I dont need of super performances
I like a lot the keyboard of that model and the price is very good
any suggestions?
thanks
Inspiron Mini 10v:
Intel® Atom™ N270 serie N (1,60 GHz, 533 MHz, cache 512 KB), Ubuntu 8.04 Display 10,1" widescreen WSVGA (1.024x576), Intel® Graphic Media Accelerator 950, SDRAM DDR21.024 MB 533 MHz, Hd 16GB ssd, wireless Dell 1397 (802.11 b/g)
i think i got it to work now!
source test actually ran at 1600x900 but that wasn't an option (please add 16:9 resolution choices to benchmarks)
Looking to get some IN-GAME benchmarks with FRAPS, and see what different people's rigs are doing. Why are the M1730 guys allowed? Simple...so we can see what the new M1730 can do, and see if it is worth slapping another $3,000 to $5,000 down on the table.
RULES:
1- To rule out as many variables as we can, we should all use FRAPS for benchmarking. F-11 is the default key to start a benchmark.
2- Tell us about your rig. Be specific about hardware, OS, clockspeeds, and drivers. Having that info in your signature is even better.
3- Cut and paste straight from the FRAPS log that is created in C:Fraps. Be sure to specify what resolution you're using because FRAPS does not document this.
4- Specify what graphical settings you are using for that game. Saying 'Full Graphical Settings' means that you have every graphic option for that game maxed out, turned on, etc. In Bioshock you could say 'Full Graphical Settings, but Dynamic Lighting is Off'. In Oblivion it would be nice if you specify outdoors or indoors. You get the point.
5- TURN V-SYNC OFF. If your scores are pegged at 30FPS or 60FPS, that's nice, but tells us nothing. If you say 'Full Graphical Settings', we are to assume that V-Sync is off. You don't need to mention it.
It is obvious to me that this is not as foolproof as an ORB link. People can edit the text file to say whatever they want it to.
Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Review.
Screen
The 8.9” SVGA (1024x600) LED backlight screen is impressive. Outside, with full sunlight directly on the screen I am able to view this review with no problems!
XGA (1024x768) is still the standard resolution (established in 1990) and many applications, websites, etc are optimized for XGA not SVGA. You might have to do some side scrolling but it’s definitely tolerable. For example, I wrote this entire review on the mini 9 (no cheating).
Keyboard
The only other netbook I’ve been able to use is the ASUS eee PC 900. Compared to the ASUS’s keyboard the mini 9’s is great! It may take some time getting used to but this keyboard it is bearable, unlike the ASUS. The function keys (F1, F2, etc)have been replaced with function keys, meaning you have to press the Fn key to access the function keys (i.e. Fn + A = F1). The F11 and F12 keys are gone, no ifs and or buts about it. Keep that in mind if any of your applications require these two keys.
Batty Life
GREAT! I clocked 3 and a half hours under some pretty heavy usage.
Memory card reader
I only tested a SD card, it works fine and the card fits fully into the machine. Some notebooks only insert ½ the card leaving the other half hanging out........
I'd be interested to hear any feedback from Dell Inspiron Mini 12 owners. What is your overall opinion? Is the 1GB RAM limit a problem? Likes/dislikes?
View 10 Replies View RelatedGot one of the new Dell Mini 9 notebooks or netbooks as some call them today. Have had much too little time with it, but wanted to post a review anyway. Here's what I've learned so far...
specs.
I ordered the $449 Windows XP version with 1 gig ram and the 16 gig SSD hard drive. The unit only comes with a 1024x600 screen which is adequate, but I do wish one of the netbook makers would push the limit to 1280x800. It also has a 4 cell battery good for about 3 hours, and the standard port setup of 3 USB, VGA, sound in/out and an ethernet. There is also a slot for an SD card to help out the small SSD hard drive if desired.
What's in the box.
The system came with only a power adapter, which is not more than just a normal looking power brick, so you'll need a plug with room to use it. And, the OS CD, resource CD and Works CD. And, a terse manual and other odd paper work. The power cord is plenty long enough so getting power to it is not hard at all. The power plug is located on the left had side of the unit near the back....................
so I am going to use my EPP to buy a secondary Studio 17, 24" monitor and an Inspiron Mini 9. Out of curiosity, because I really do not know, is there a difference in build quality, materials, workmanship, etc...
for people that have an EPP with Dell and order systems and other devices by Dell? Do "Home" systems differ from EPP systems? Like do EPP systems use used parts or remanufactured parts for a new system? Just curious....
Just replaced the stock 80GB WD800BEVS drive in my E6500 with a 320GB 7200rpm WD3200BEKT Scorpio Black.
Here's the before and after benchmarks which basically doubled.
Other than doubling the ram to 4GB it's the best $90 upgrade I've made to the E6500 so far. Vista flies with this thing
Is there any Wireless-N mini PCI cards which will work in the Dell 9200? If so, would I have to add a third antenna to make it work? Are there any walk through's or HOW TO's for this kind of upgrade, I've googled and there very little on this.
