I have a Latitude 2100. All of the sudden I cannot log into the internet. It says that I'm connected to the wireless connection. I've tried everything to access the internet, but nothing has worked. Maybe some other route to go to get the internet connection back.
I am looking for the Windows XP video driver for a Dell latitude 2100. I can find the Vista driver on the site but it won't work. Need to be able to use multiple screen and with out the drivers I can't use the VGA output.Â
How to use ImageX to recover the recovery partition on a Latitude 2100 as well as a Vostro 1720 as I want to restore them back to factory settings and can't access the recovery partition on each system via the normal way i.e. on boot.
Hp has pulled the cloth off their new HP netbook, the HP mini 2100. Now from what I've read most if not all the specs are same to the mini 1000. Only thing i can see that is diffrent between the two is it's not all black, the keyboard might not be a copy of the famous 1000 keyboard and the 2100 is offering the holy 6 cell battery! which is said to give 7 hours of net time! thats alotta . i mean office work *cough*. I'll post the artical in a few mins, if this was posted sorry i didnt bump it.
question. is the keyboard on the HP 2000 same as the keyboard on the mini 1000?
i have a Compaq Presario 2195us and i want to install windows 7 ultimate. is it capable of being installed or no? ive looked all over online and i havent found much.
I have a Presario 2195U and it locks all the time. At first it seemed to do it at random, but then I noticed it would lock every time during installation of XP Service Pack 3, or other long laborious installations. Any time you hear the fan kick into overdrive it seems that it will lock up shortly after. It locked several times during the installation of Windows XP itself.
I hear the fan spinning, and I keep the system on a hard, flat surface to maximize airflow, but it will still lock up during larger-scale installations.
I ask if the issue could possibly stem from over-heating; the system reaches a certain temperature and locks as a fail-safe. I've also noticed that it will lock less frequently when the battery is removed. When I remove it, the battery is very warm, Perhaps the battery is absorbing some of the heat being produced in the system, contributing to the overall temperature inside the chassis?
I have since installed Ubuntu Linux on it and it locks MUCH less frequently, and from what I understand, Linux is much less CPU-intensive. I do like Linux, but it isn't suitable for what I use the system for.
If over-heating could be the issue, I'd like to purchase a better/more powerful fan, power draw isn't so much an issue as it's almost always plugged in.
The specifications for the system are: CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1.8ghz Memory: 1gb SDRAM Graphics: ATI Radeon Mobile HDD: 120gb OS: Ubuntu 8.10
If the problem is indeed thermal-related, then comes the question of how do I open the chassis...
My daughter has a Compaq Presario 2100. She said she got a virus! I don't think she did. But the problem is it will boot and not run! I ran a test for Hard Drive and it didn't show one. I also tried to repair from disk, it said it didn't have a hard drive. Disk is the reinstall XP. Is this a virus? I think it is hard drive gone bad.
Pavilion dv5t-2100 CTO Windows 7 64bit. Apparently fix requires downloading correct software/driver for intel chipset. Problem is how to identify the chipset. Intel does not provide utility to ID the chipset for W7 64 bit! Catch 22? What do I do?
My T420 has the 2100 error on HDD0 few days ago. I went to the IT center and found the hard drive is completely dead. My original hdd is 500G seagate. So sad, all the music and good memories are gone.Â
I have to update the hard drive. Any suggestions on the SSD? I heard i can only update to 160G ssd, is this true?
I have had my laptop for a couple of years now. It is currently the HP Envy 17t-2100 normal edition. A while back long before this issue I had to re-install windows 7 and of course while I did download all the drivers. I was still not able to download the switchable graphics driver / program. I don't know if this is related to the issue or not. Â The MAIN issue I do have however, is that my laptop no longer recognizes the high performance GPU (The AMD Radeon 6850M). I have tried installing the drivers, uninstalling, and reinstalling again. But no luck.
Problems with the Thinkpad X220 and my Samsung 840 Evo 256gb SSD drive. Let me give you a rundown of my past 4 months...  October 2014. Purchased Thinkpad X120E. 1.5ghz processor and low memory made it horrible. Put in 8gb and bought the Samsung 840 Evo 256gb SSD drive. It made the laptop much more responsive but it still sucked...so I sold it. I kept the SSD drive for my 'future' thinkpad.I did the firmware update on the SSD as it required it. It currently has the most recent firmware. When I bought the SSD drive, I plopped it in, installed windows then openSUSE and enjoyed it for a bit. Never gave me an issue at all.
January 2015: Purchased an off-lease X220 with the 2.6ghz processor. Has a 320gig 7200rpm drive in it. Put in 16GB of memory and love it.After playing with it for a bit, I did the most recent BIOS upgrade (1.39) and prepared it for the SSD install.I put in the Samsung 840 evo. Turning on the laptop it sits at thinkpad logo a lot longer then usual. After a bit it goes to the Error 2100.I went into the BIOS, HDD is not detected at all.I kept trying to boot/restart but no go. I always see that Error 2100. I can tell when it won't boot because the thinkpad logo sits for a long time and it seems that the HDD light is always on.I tried to boot with and without UEFI...no go.
I tried to boot with SATA as AHCI or compatibility, no goI put the Samsung drive into a dock and attached it to a laptop. Disk management see's the drive. I can format it and all.I put the SSD drive then into a friend’s computer tower. I formatted the drive using the Samsung software. I tried to put it back into my laptop last night, no go. Drive is not being read.My friends desktop detects the drive in his BIOS just fine...
I believe this is an issue between the BIOS and the SSD/firmware. I looked at some of the updates for SSD's and the thinkpad BIOS, they identify a small part of the model number of the samsung drive but it is not the same.
I know you have a forum for advice on what notebook to buy, but I know what models I like. I like the mini 9 but am thinking of waiting until the mini 10 is avaible. And the other I like is either the Inspiron 1535 or the Studio 15.
I will use it primarily for surfing the net and writing in Word or Open Office. I want it to be portable, but it doesn't have to be ultra portable, though that is a big draw of the mini series...
I think I prefer XP but hubby has Vista and I think I could learn to live with that. We've already got a Inspiron 530 desktop and he loves it. The thing that I think I might want, is to listen to music while I write and that makes the netbook not work out so well, BUT I have a cool Nextar MP3 player that works great for me and holds most of my music already set up, so I could live with that .....
If I wanted to surf the web or send emails from my bed while sick and confined to bed which of Dell's netbooks would be best?
About 2 months ago I received a Vostro 1510 and for a period of time I had the flu, I tried using the 1510 while in bed just to surf the net and send a few emails but it was just too heavy.
I have a new Dell 10 Netbook and purchased a Sandisc 16 GB Card for netbooks. The card does not enter fully into the memory expansion slot. My computer does recognize it and opens, but the card sticks out of the computer. I thought the card should be invisible, my experience in using cards for other devices. Is this norma.? I don't want to force the card.
I bought this laptop to replace the company-issued one that I've used on personal excursions for a few years, since I'll soon be leaving my current employer.
Portability and battery life were my primary concerns, followed immediately by price. I'm a programmer, but most of my work is done remotely by SSH, so power isn't a real concern. 90% of my intended use is a mix of ssh and firefox.
Specs:
Given my requirements, and the fact that I'm a die-hard Linux proponent,
I went with the Ubuntu version with a 4GB SSD and 1GB RAM. I got the integrated wifi and bluetooth modules, as well as the 1.3MP webcam.
The wifi was the only requirement, but the other two were cheap enough that I included them as amusements. I typically leave the bluetooth soft-disabled .....
I need a computer to tune/log my ECU in my car. I i have my old dell inspiron 9300 that need a new OS, batt and charger. I lost the recover disk and my brother ripped the key code sticker so i cant see the first set of numbers,
it came with XP pro is there any thing i can do to save it with out buyin a new OS. Like i said im using this to tune ECUs and data log using romraider and
ecuflash. So should i fix the 9300 or get a netbook, any suggestions on netbooks under 300 cheaper the better or a place to get a Windows OS?
+Size +Weight +Craftsmanship +Style +Cost +Trackpad Operation +Integrated Web Camera +Win XP +Availability +Keypad Size and Design +3USB, HDMI, external speaker option, card reader +Ethernet port & internal wireless +Power cord construction.
Cons: - Speakers are under the machine (muffled sound)
- Intel Atom Processor - Cant get to the hard drive externally - Screen size cuts off some dialog box's footer & resizing is a chore if not impossible..
Summary: Placed this side by side with all its current competitors (and I did) and it will win every time. There are just too many pro's than con's and off of that alone makes this the best buy in every way.
HP 17t-2100 CTO screen is light, or lines, horizontal across screen.  LM125AV  How to remove the screen from the base of the notebook, and how to test cable, or LCD screen itself? Is replacing the LCD screen the correct option?  Running Win7 64bit
I bought an acer ZA3. The only changes I made were I removed Mccafee recplaced with AVG and installed Firefox. The problem is is locks up when my grandaughter (who I bought it for) uses the built in games (cake time or something like that) or plays some web based dress up game. Even CTRL ALT DEL would not bring up the task manager. Did I just get a bad one or should I consider a different one?
My nearly-new Acer One Netbook had fairly low volume from the speakers when new. Now it is barely audible. The headphone jack delivers full volume. Control panel and the on-screen indicator show full volume.
I have the AOA-150. I boot it up and once it runs from start up to end it is only a minute and then it dies. i have taken the batery out and replaced it and changed power problems and nothing still does it. even in BIOS it dies in a minute even after running on power cord. very strange. Is it part of the MOBO thats the issue?
I have an aspireone that im using in a carputer setup. Rather than mounting it on the floor right side up with the vents to the carpet, I plan on mounting it upside down, giving the vents inches of airspace. Is this a good idea or will the heat rising this way be bad... or will this bring down the hdd's life?
I have an old DV6565us Pavilion. It runs EXTREMELY slow. I did a clean reinstall, but it is still pretty darn slow.

I'm looking to replace it with a netbook or another 15.4" widescreen notebook. I mainly use it for office productivity (powerpoint, word), internet, and some multimedia (hulu, etc).
This current notebook does it's job. But its pretty slow once I start to open up a number of applications. I can trade this notebook for cash ($250). Not sure if this is a good deal or not... But anyway...
