How to use ImageX to recover the recovery partition on a Latitude 2100 as well as a Vostro 1720 as I want to restore them back to factory settings and can't access the recovery partition on each system via the normal way i.e. on boot.

I really do not like built-in recovery mechanism on the same HDD. I perfer a DVD/USBÂ or any external media.I wanted to export that recovery parititon to a DVD/USB. I searched the web and found that I needed to use Acer eRecovery Managment application. But mine did not came with that software, and I could not find it on Acer's web site either.

I installed Windows 10 on it. I did not like this laptop, so I decided to sell it. Now, I want to make it to factory settings. Pressing Alt + F10 showed some kind of error, like it cannot verify the signature of winload.efi. I thought Windows 10 somehow messed it up. So I installed normal Windows 8.1 Pro I had. Then tried Alt + F10. Now, it did not show that winload.efi error, but it asks me to insert a recevery media. That is, it does not recognise the recovery partition.

By the way, the screen of Alt + F10 looked like stock Windows 8.1 screen from Microsoft, not Acer. When I watched it on their web site, it showed some kind of Acer recovery program. Is this normal?

What happened? Is my recovery feature broken? I can still see the recovery partition (11.03GB), why can't I recover it? Any method to recover the factory state.
I have a new 2530p here. When I start it up it shows a screen where I can choose what language I want to install of Windows Vista.
If I choose a language, can I later recover the laptop to it's original state, so I can choose the language again?

I tried creating a new partition on my harddrive to store my music and it won't let me because the drive is all locked up. I want to format the whole drive and start fresh so I can have a seperate partition for my personal files. This means getting rid of the recovery partition. They shipped me an XP installation disc, but no drivers...I can download those. Plus on the recovery partition there is a lot of bloatware.

I have a Latitude 2100. All of the sudden I cannot log into the internet. It says that I'm connected to the wireless connection. I've tried everything to access the internet, but nothing has worked. Maybe some other route to go to get the internet connection back.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a G62-a31so notebook and it came with windows 7 x64, right from the start it couldn't start most programs, they would simply crash, I got the idea that I would install windows vista on it, which has worked well with my previous PCs, I considered creating recovery disks beforehand, but I couldn't be bothered when I found out it required 4! dvd-s and it says in your manual that I can recover my system at any time from the partition. So I formatted the partition that had windows 7 on it before and installed vista on it, then I found out that you have no vista drivers for this notebook, I tried to regain status quo by recovering from the partition, pressed esc on startup and then f11 in the startup menu, but it simply booted vista.

I am working on an Envy Pro 4-b000.  The hard drive has failed.  I have a replacement drive on the way, but I did not create a  recovery disk when the laptop was purchased.  It had windows 7 - 64 bit on it previously.  What are my options to getting recovery media for this laptop?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Latitude D600 which i bought a few months ago second hand, It came with charger and thats it. No recovery disk or nothing. Laptop worked perfect and is a really good laptop. However I have so many viruses on my laptop, I have ran all types of AVG's, adware scanners, and much more. Its cleared alot of the viruses but still the laptop is not working properly.
I would like to restore the laptop back to its factory settings, i have backed up all my data on an external harddrive so its all good. I checked on google and it says something about Pressing F11 + Ctrl or something like that and it has a recovery procedure in the laptop allready. I dont think D600 has that feature and guessing i need a recovery disk. I have looked on ebay and cant find any, Im not even sure what type of recovery disk to get because i found a few, prices were ranging from £30-35 and i cant afford that as i am a student.
Is there a way where i can download some sort of recovery software for dell and burn it onto a disk or something, I looked on google but there is no detailed sources telling me about this,
how i can restore my dell latitude D600 back to its brand new settings without having to buy the recovery disk.
Chrombook 14 has crashed, and I have installed the "Recovery" about 15 times as it kept crashing.I uninstalled all extensions and apps that weren't google apps after the 3rd or 4th crash.

Finally it crashed and the "Recovery" will not restore the computer... in any USB port. Have tried a couple dozen times and have even created a new recovery on another pen drive.

Problem with the above from HP is the HP page it sends you to comes up blank on my PC after clicking on their HP Customer Care page link.And, under German law this product has an automatic 2-year warranty.
I’ve just done a clean install of my Dell Vostro -- reinstalling vista and removing the recovery partition in the process. Outcome = a ‘cleaner’ machine with none of the preinstalled bloatware/c**p from Dell. (first time I’ve done anything like this, but followed a brill guide in the Dell section of this forum ).
I’m about to tackle my Mums Compaq Presario C310EA. The aim is to remove all the rubbish she has accumulated over the years, incl any spyware/ adware she may have, and generally have a bit of a clean sweep…. hopefully resulting in a faster laptop. I’m backing up her data, and moving some of my Dad’s stuff somewhere else.
Basically I want to clean up as much as poss, but unfortunately she has no xp disk, just the recovery disks (cds) she burned when she first got the laptop.
As she has no xp disk I guess the best I can hope for is to reset the laptop to the factory settings (?) .. not ideal, but I don’t think the (factory set) bloatware is too much of an issue for her – she’s not a heavy user.
Should I use the recovery partition for this, or do I need to use the cds she burned? .
I’d like to know the best approach – and can’t seem to find a set of instructions to follow.

I just download and install the norton partition magic 8.0 demo from website... and suddently or accidentally my recovery partition been deleted. So I can't recovering my system anymore or disabled.

I have a pavilion dv7-6b50ei notebook pc bought 2012. It always gives a command prompt pop up which doesn't stay long enough to read. I also felt there's a virus on it which my anti-virus couldn't solve so I tried factory resetting but when I restart and press F11 it gives an error(something like a boot.. is missing). so I tried my recovery discs. Disc 1 of 4 ran fine but disc 2 keeps stopping with an error.
Now the laptop doesn't load as I think the OS has been formatted during the recovery and don't know what to do. I feel disc 2 is bad too because it also gave an error while trying to copy it to a USB pen drive. I have also tried an external dvd and run the hp test on the hard drive; the hard drive passed the test. If I can get a new set of recovery discs, it would solve my problem.
Will I be able to recover later with just the discs and a completely clean HDD

The ~15 GB recovery files are still there!The Windows partition (2nd primary) has been deleted and recreated as an NTFS partition. Since then the recovery process will not start.

I reinstalled windows 7 home premium on my machine, using the same serial number as the one that came with the laptop (I found the serial number by downloading some software that scanned my computer and told me what it was).After installing windows, it told me that it was not genuine. I imagine that it is because it wasn't a version of Windows that has all that HP software pre-loaded on it. My hard drive still has a "recovery" partition, but what to do with that, or even if I can do anything with it anymore. So how can I make my Windows 7 home premium genuine? Do I have to reinstall another version of windows 7 home premium with the HP software included? Where do I find such download? Since I don't have a recovery disk, can I use that "recovery" partition of my hard drive for something?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy mom's laptop failed over a week ago. It wouldn't get past repairing disc errors, even if left alone for 8+ hours. I tried the windows Reset option from the advanced repair menu (Originally came with Windows 8). It started the reset process, but since it was going extremely slow, and I had to work the next day, I left it to go over night. I'm not sure what happened, but it wouldn't even let me get to the advanced options menu anymore. So I ordered the recovery discs from HP.
Those came on Friday, and I have been working with changing different settings in the BIOS, yet I still can't get the notebook to boot from the 1st cd. It says "Push any key to boot from CD/DVD" which I then hit enter, and it just black screens for up to 45 minutes. I'm not ure how the BIOS needs to be set up, and I'm not sure why it would give me that message, then not boot. When i hit F11 during startup, It shows the HP Logo for a while, then black screens for about 20 minutes, then I get an error page saying there is a necessary disc or device missing. I have disconnected and reconnected the hard drive, reseated the RAM.
I had to do a recovery using F11 as my system would not boot up. It would constantly say it was restartin with he spinning ping pong balls but would not load. Why it crashed is moot at this point.

I saved my files as a backup before continuing with the recovery. As it stands now the thumb drive which has been copied to my desktop has a folder named "System Recovery Files". There is no .exe file that I can locate within.

1) I purchased a subscription to Avast and wonder if I can reinstll, not sure where my license key is but could probably contact Avast.Â
2) I downloaded Mozilla's Thunderbird and have emails and contacts from a variety of email accounts and one account in particular I no longer have access to.
