HP/Compaq :: HP6910p- WWAN Card

Apr 11, 2010

I have a older HP 6910p laptop that I am prep'ing for use in my Digital Camera bag. I thought it might be nice to install a WWAN card, in the laptop in case, I am out and need access to the internet in some place that does not support Wi-Fi and the like.

I am looking at the WWAN card from ebay: [url]

I have a couple of questions:

1) My laptop has two Antenna leads in the port area for the WWAN card and the MC8775 has only 1 Antenna connector, will it work OK with only the one Antenna lead and which of the two leads should I connect?

2) Will I be able to use the SIM card from my iPhone in the Laptop with no additional plan or service then the data plan that is already provided by the iPhone/AT&T plan?

3) How does the GPS function work on these WWAN cards?

Dell :: New Windows 7 Driver For 5530 WWAN Card On E6400

Nov 1, 2009

Anyone got the new 64 bit Windows 7 driver (not the Vista driver) for 5530 WWAN card on E6400 working?.

The driver installed fine on my E6400 (running 64 bit Windows 7), but Wireless Manager (downloaded from Sony Ericsson website) stopped working saying it can't find any wireless device (probably because it can't recognize the new driver)..

Then I went to get Control Point Connection Manager and noticed that there's none for Windows 7. So how do you use the WWAN card without a client?..

Dell :: 5530 WWAN KM266 PCIe Mini Card 7.2Mbps?

Sep 10, 2009

just received a Dell 5530 WWAN Mobile Broadband HSDPA KM266 PCIe mini-card which bought from a vendor on ebay today

Owning an XPS M1330, it took a little trial & error finding compatible drivers and the appropriate SW, but I managed it by feeding Dell's website with various Notebook models in order to get to said drivers & SW.

The SW (Ericsson) came from the Dell Mini 9 section (because the ebay vendor told me that's where he got the card in the first place):

Lenovo X1 Carbon X Series ThinkPad :: SIM Card Not Detected (Sierra EM7345 WWAN Modem)

Jan 3, 2015

I have a X1 Carbon with Sierra EM7345 WWAN modem. It is all installed perfectly - drivers etc. But id does not recognize the SIM card. I have googled a bit and I can say that:

1) I have the drivers OK, I have the WWAN network adapter etc.
2) I have inserted the SIM card correctly

The SIM card works perferctly if I use the USB 3G stick instead. So the problem is not in the SIM card. I think there is some configuraiton of the Sierra modem which should be done - to switch to 3G/2G or something.

Dell :: XPS M1330 Screw

Oct 15, 2008

I wanted to change my hard drive back to my original one and it turns out that when I first changed it in May I have screwed the low quality screws too tight. When I tried to unscrew them again, 2 of them (the ones that are towards the middle of the laptop) failed to unscrew and I pretty much turned them unusable with my repeated tries.

I'm not going to rant about the fact that Dell could actually use STEEL screws to prevent this type of thing, I'm just going to ask you Dell XPS M1330 owners if there's any other way around getting the hard drive out.

If I'll unscrew all other screws, can I take my XPS apart? Is there anything I should be particularly careful with (other than unscrewing the low quality screws that is)? Or do you have any tips on how I could unscrew the faulty screws?

Dell :: Broken Screw On A Heat Sink (XPS M1530).

The problem may be that I haven't use the lint free cloth tough I did took care not to leave any lint on the surfaces. Anyway, I decided to redo a whole operation with much more care. Unfortunately as I opened my XPS M1530 one of the screws heads was broken in a way that I could not use any of my phillips screwdrivers on it. How can I remove it now & more importantly what are the dimensions/sizes of the screws that are used to attach the heatsing to the GPU/CPU as I may have to buy one to replace it & don't seem to be able to find that info anywhere?......

Dell :: WWAN/GPS Alternative To ControlPoint

Oct 6, 2008

I'm really starting to hate the bloat of controlpoint, but I have a 5530 WWAN card, so need some software to control it, while searching the Dell support site I cam across R198215.EXE which is a Sony Ericsson Wireless Manager for 5530 cards, this is actually intended for use on the Inspiron Mini 910, but it works a treat on the E6500 too.

The download is 72MB but it only seems to install 5MB of software (you could probably trim that down by removing language dlls), you only need to run the software when you actually want to use the card.

I even got the GPS functioning which is more than even the factory installed drivers could manage, the COM7: port was always silent before, now it happily spits out NMEA sentences

Now to remove as much of ControlPoint as I can get away with, hopefully without having to reinstall XP again.

The Dell (XP version) of the software does not install on the Virtual PC, claiming the system is not a Dell.

I found a generic copy of VZ Access Manager from Verizon, but that one says the WWAN card is turned off, although the switch is set to on and its not disabled in Vista.
