I'm considering buying a studio 15 with P8400 which definitely supports intel VT.
Question,
is there an option in the bios to enable it? Can anyone with a studio 15 and a VT supported processor confirm or deny this option exists?
anyone can confirm that the Studio 1555 supports Memory Remapping?
If not even Vista 64Bit won't be able to use the full 4GB of RAM..

What option I have because I am not able to use my laptop for Windows Phone 8 application development.
Just over a week ago there there was an option for WXGA+ display (1440x900) WLED. I was on the verge of buying but I held out for a coupon which I got next day. Problem was the next day the WXGA+ was no longer an option.
I am left with the choice of base WXGA WLED (1280 x 800), the CCFL version of that or WUXGA+ CCFL (1920x1200) @ 100 more. That is too high for me (resolution & maybe price). I really wanted the WXGA+ WLED and am pissed off it has gone

Is this the same technology and amazing screen as the XPS Studio 16? Anyone have this screen care to comment? I'm looking for a very bright and high quality screen and the Studio 17 seems like a perfect replacement for my Asus W2V.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI’m testing some E4200s (with SED SSDs and regular SSDs) and have run into a possible bug with the HDD password “bypass” option in the BIOS. The “bypass” option in BIOS allows you to specify if the HDD password needs to be entered during warm boots (restarts), standby, etc. I’ve set it to “disable”, which means that the HDD password must always be entered (even for restarts). However, the E4200 does *not* prompt for the HDD password during warm boots (restarts). It correctly prompts for the HDD password during cold boots and standby/hibernate only. I’ve tried upgrading the BIOS to the latest version (A13 to A20), but that didn’t work.
At this point I think it's a bug in the BIOS. I've tried this with different e4200 laptops and different drives (regular SSDs, and self-encrypting SSDs).
Going to install a SSD to my HP Pavilion Dv6-2119tx (WF606PA) I had a quick look in the bios but no option to turn on AHCI as going to reinstall Windows 7 as not sure if my laptop can handle Windows 8.

(Do this differ from the T440p or the Edge Series, E540?)
So far, the leather-trimmed Studio XPS notebook only comes in black. But that could change very soon.
Dell's designers are considering a red (or according to them, "Bordeaux") plastic/leather lid combo, pictured here. It is not, however, part of the (Product) Red line.
a) Does the studio xps 1340 have the option to get bluetooth?
b) Intel 5300 found in the studio xps 1640 vs Dell Wireless 1510?
c) Is the RGB screen in the 1640 really worth the upgrade to the 1640 from the 1340?
Anyone know what happened to this option? I remember speccing out a system a few months back and it was possible to upgrade the x3100 to geforce 8400, but its no longer there.

This is for me not really acceptable, we are almost in the year 2010 and i find it weird that there are still b/g cards sold....
I definitely dont want only b/g but i do want n (most of us around me now have 50+ Internet connections and i hope the have next year 60/6 or even higher)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Lenovo G480(Model 20156). My CPU is Intel Core i3 2370M. I have recently added another 1600 MHz RAM. But it is now showing 1333 MHz. I am using windows 8.1. Though I saw that some laptops can enable that by selecting XMP Profile on BIOS. But, my PCs Bios is not showing any option to select XMP profile or even any Advanced AI option.
My question is,
1. How can I resolve this problem and get my 1600 MHz RAM work fully?
2. How can I enable the XMP profile to get the full advantage of my 1600 MHz RAM?

we got several T420 with different BIOS versions (from 1.30 to 1.40) On 95% of them the "Clear Security Chip" Option is available @ BIOS but on some of them the option is missing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedW540 20BG001CGE, had BIOS 1.05 and RAID 1 with two Samsung 840 EVO 1TB working fine under Windows 7 - x64. Did a (by lenovo update tool recommended) BIOS Update with the bios update manager to 2.05. Update ran fine. After Rebooting (and loading defaults, disabling Intel Rapid Start, Changing BIOS boot option to legacy first ... I recognized SATA Option (AHCI or RAID) in BIOS is gone. At boot Intel Matrix Storage Configuration doesnot appear anymore (where you can build RAID etc).
Boot then brings up message "missing operating system".
Downgrade to BIOS 1.05 impossible, due to ISO File on www.lenovo.com support is not system compatible, message "Lenovo Group Limited - Invalid system disk; Replace te disk, and then press any key")

Also the downgrade to BIOS version 1.08 found here [URL] .... does not work, CD also messages "Lenovo Group Limited - Invalid system disk - Replace ...").

Just got a new Studio 1537 laptop. Everything works great.
The bios on my laptop says its A07 when the lastest bios on the Dell website is A05.
BIOS A08 was released on 6/15/2009 with the following fixes:
Enhance graphic controller performance.
Enhance system memory performance.
Has anyone tested it or do we have any additional info?
So the story is, the HD3650 is underclocked on the 1735's from 600mhz to 450mhz.
I'm having no luck saving the original BIOS from the GPU so I can use RBE to overclock.
I'd be up for a copy of a successfully oc'd BIOS file also, 600mhz core.
Tried Vista and XP, atiflash, winflash, gpu-z, none of them can save the BIOS for some reason...

View 9 Replies View RelatedI hope I am using the right part of this forum to ask this... Heres my problem: I bought new Dell studio XPS 1340 (CPU: I Core2Duo T9300, GPU: GeForce 9500M (GF 9400MG + GF 9200MGS, HDD: 320GB, 7.2k, RAM: 4GB)
and I had some troubles configuring my graphic cards in SLI mode. I read somewhere, that BIOS upgrade from A07, which I have, to A11 will help with this problem.
I downloaded A11 BIOS update, but the setup wont recognize my current BIOS. When I load into the BIOS I see, that its really rev. A07, also it has header from Dell inc.
I just got the SXPS1640 and have been playing a game that is getting a bit warm after a few hours of play then the game started loading slower.
I was doing some reading and found that you can update the bios to A07? I found the download, but wanted to make sure that the computer doesn't already have this and how to install and it too.
can someone with the Intel 4500MHD graphics test this?
Reason why I need a quick reply by 3pm PST tomorrow is that after that time I'm going to send my Laptop to Dell for them to investigate the fan issue.

fan turns on too often. tried undervolting, using arctic silver 5, switched from t9550 to p8400 already
THE FAVOR:
if any of you 1555 owners can boot into the BIOS and stay in there for 5 minutes, can you just observe if teh fan goes off or not? Mine does, even after a cold boot (when i haven't used the laptop within the last hour).
